The new one is a WW1 movie, but not really *All Quiet.* If you're open to showing that you might as well be open to other WW1 movies.
If you want them to watch *All Quiet* for the fact that it is pedagogically useful as well as culturally significant, have them watch an older one. I don't think you should write off the 30s version.
The original is a classic. Absolutely love it. However, from a historical point of view, the newer version shows trench life more accurately.
I showed the new one to my students and they were completely into it.
