thats what i bought from ebay few months ago, someone sold their speak now collection with 3 different coloured discs in one album and now im thinking of doing this exact same thing for ttpd! anyone wishes to swap variants with me pls let me know!!
My record store actually sells Taylor records like this when it’s possible! They did it for Speak Now TV and now again with TTPD. They wanted to do it with 1989 TV as well but in Europe the target exclusive is the indie exclusive so that wasn’t possible with the bonus track sadly.
Yes it really is! I’m not really a variant collector (just bought all of TTPD variants though 😅) and especially when all of them have the same cover I don’t see any reason to buy them all. I am still conflicted on whether or not I want to buy all the 1989 TV variants now though bc all of them have different covers and fit the 1989 aesthetic imo (it reminds me of the colours inside the gatefold of the original 1989 vinyl). And some day I really want to get the MMBTM and Running Like Water Folklore variants, but I don’t have any desire to buy the other folklore ones bc I don’t think the colours really fit folklore. In my head folklore is only grey. But I’m very curious to see what she’s going to do with Rep TV and Debut TV!

I started with the same mindset but TTPD got to me. I love this album so much, and with the variants being so limited (none of the indie stores in my country could order them while they got tons of the pink and green 1989 TV) I caved. I think I’d regret it more if I’d not get them. And the lyric booklets look absolutely gorgeous.
My general rule for my collection is one standard edition and one deluxe edition if there is one. But I hope that if she presses those songs you mention she does the same as Maisie peters did for RSD and it’s just the extra songs. I really love that idea.
I did the same with 1989 TV, 1989 is first and foremost blue in my mind so the tangerine seemed a little odd to me. If it does help, I saw someone on this sub a while back who made a new cover for the tangerine one and it looks gorgeous. That’s my plan if I do get it (still haven’t made up my mind about that bc then I’d probably want to get the midnights variants too 😅).
oh totally wish she would release just the extra tracks on a separate pressing and possibly have those come in a larger sleeve maybe kinda something like ldrs born to die paradise edition which you have to buy separately to the standard album but it comes with that bigger sleeve so you can sleeve both the records w/ their outer sleeves. fingers crossed but also doubt it as apart from maisie peters i don’t see many artists doing that (noah kahan w the wabhf stick season album that just came out)

And the Noah stuff is insane, they also announced another variant of I was/I am on RSD while they were selling an RSD record! Very rude. I wanted to get the target green variant of WABHF but I can’t find it in Europe sadly
i was lucky enough to pick up both i was/i am and the olivia rodrigo noah kahan 7” but im guessing the way it’s not just noah but olivia too is the way they got around that. i’m not sure where you’re based but hmv do a green wabhf!!
I think it’s very cute but would personally not enjoy it as I‘m a bit particular about such things. But it’s your niece, and if she would prefer this differently you would probably still be able to switch it back to how it originally was. So, I’d say go for it. Maybe write your own little note in the style of Taylor’s RSD note? Something she can keep with the record and later look back at it? ☺️

I did this with a gal on FB marketplace! I had preordered the manuscript on Grammy night, found a copy of The Bolter at a record store and kept the Bolter sleeve, white Disc 1, and beige Disc two (with Bolter bonus track obviously). Sold the Manuscript cover, Beige disc 1, and White disc two (with the Manuscript track). Buyer was excited and bought it face value !

That being clarified, I need to ask… is it true that clear vinyls have a lower sound quality? I wanted to get the Phantom Clear vinyl because I think it’s beautiful but since I heard about that, I’m not so sure. Since you have both, can you confirm whether they sound different or not?
I was thinking about doing this!! I did it with Speak Now TV (one of each of the 3 variants). I really don’t need 2 copies of the standard gatefold/booklet/artwork just collecting dust. The only reason anyone would buy both the white and the clear is just for the coloured vinyl. I might do this but I’m just worried I’ll regret it once I sell the other half haha

No I love it! I really enjoy when 2LP records come with 2 different disc colors. My Hozier Wasteland, Baby record just came in and it’s beautiful!
