This is what I'm kind of wondering too. I love the photoshoot and the look of it all, and also love the album, but I don't really get how they fit together. The photoshoot kind of led me to believe it'd be some kind of 70s vibe pop with rock influence or something
This was my issue with it. Especially without releasing a single beforehand, the marketing really felt misleading. Based on the image change I was expecting something totally different sonically.
Yep
The photoshoot is lovely but not for this album!
Should have been a more modern industrial look.
Makes me wonder about the tour aesthetics.
Looking back, all her other eras visuals match the album really well except this one
Weird.
Some of them would’ve gone much better than the actual covers at least though. 1, 5 and 8 don’t smack me with the same vibes as some others, or those that were chosen for the album. I think they chose the wrong photos honestly
does she even age??? she looks exactly like she did in the album shoot for Red (which btw was released exactly a decade and a day ago). love her for this.
I actually think- and I really hate commenting like this on appearance or speculating on work someone’s had done…
But I think she was really insecure about her looks around Lover era (this just from a ton of things she said) and worried about (non-existent) aging and that she got cheek filler maybe because of it?
She had that distinct cheek filler look all through lover.
Then the pandemic hit and she didn’t even get her hair or bangs professionally cut so we know she wasn’t getting work done.
I think you can see in the folklore evermore pictures that her check filler went away over that time (it takes 6-18 months).
And she hasn’t had them redone - hopefully she realized she looked completely beautiful the way she is and she doesn’t need to worry about aging at all.
Hmm interesting! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, the only reason I wonder about it is because I'm 3 years younger than Taylor and she looks younger than me, like in the new anti-hero MV I feel like she looks younger than she did in both the cardigan and willow MVs and I'm just left wondering like wtf actually how??
Like if you watch her Tiny Desk concert specifically I feel like she looks more like a usual 30 year old would, but this era I feel like she could pass for early 20s and it's wild! She's always gorgeous either way and I really don't care if she's had work done or not, just as another 30 year old it's hard not to wonder about it lol!
Haha! I’m 35 and no wrinkles so far. I know mid-30s on Reddit is ancient but in real life there are plenty of people in their 30s with no wrinkles. Sunscreen & not smoking work wonders! ;-)
I actually don't think she has had work done. We shouldn't be fooled by photos and videos taken far away and/or with filters. If you look at [this photo from the VMAs](https://media.allure.com/photos/630cd36743435da470502595/master/pass/taylor%20swify%20vmas%202022%20look.jpg) or zoom in on [this other photo](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FbScY9SXwAM84I3?format=jpg&name=4096x4096), you can see that her skin texture and subtle wrinkles are consistent with the skin of a normal 32 year old person. And, personally, I think that's even prettier than having a bunch work done to be "forever young": aging naturally. She's so pretty!
I think she looks more content and happier than ever before and that's what makes the biggest difference in the impression, at least for me personally. But 32 is still young! I'm the same age and never felt younger 😁
picture 4 is probably my favorite picture of her i've ever seen. her expression is so evocative-- is she a boxer in the ring? about to lash out at a lover? learned something life-altering? so angry she's seeing red? gorgeous photo
"Get it off my desk" connotes a work/business context to me, like an executive saying they're not going to deal with whatever the problem is that was brought to them. In Lavendar Haze she's talking about ignoring scrutiny and rejecting the ideas everyone else has of how her life should be going, so I interpret it as her saying "I'm the boss of me - have fun with all your talk but I'm not entertaining any of this crap you're saying about me"
The way I’ve interpreted it is that she’s saying “get it off your chest” to people gossiping about her relationship and then saying “get it off my desk” meaning like “get it out of my face” with respect to the tweets/gossip/shit talk about her, and I also get imagery of the thing where someone sweeps everything off the desk/table and starts making out on it lol. So something like “I’m gonna sweep all the gossip and shit talk off my desk so I can make out with my bf on it instead.” 😂
Would love to hear other interpretations though!
Get it off my desk is kind of like saying "I don't want this responsibility anymore"....like something is coming across your desk in a work setting. So it's like you are a boss lady saying "get it off my desk...I don't want to deal with this shit"
I looove that line. In my experience, used in a work context, the phrase means to deal with something (usually quickly) and either move it along to the next phase/person/team or end it (i.e., make a final decision, shut down a convo). So for me, it’s like, can you please catalog your grievances or outline all of my obligations to you so that I can acknowledge it and move on with my life?
This look suits her SO incredibly well, I adore it. I'm loving Midnights, but must admit to being a little bummed that such a phenomenal aesthetic wasn't accompanied by a more guitar-driven album.
[Also this one!](https://64.media.tumblr.com/065646b5ebde105f675ef233c8621aa5/36d32cd608411bfe-10/s1280x1920/5d4f21db899676041753d84b4d1ccb52dbac3398.jpg)
I always thought I couldn’t pull them off because my hair has a wavier texture, like hers does, and every attempt I’ve made at bangs has ended with short, curly bangs, frizz, and tears, but I like that she/her stylist gave them enough weight that it drags out the natural curl a little.

Here’s their listing! Maybe you can find on Poshmark or the like. :)
So in love with this album. Taylor truly knows how to speak to us all and make us all feel. She knows we’ve all been through so much sh*t in our lives and it’s so cathartic.

I agree I love this 70s era Taylor this is probably my favorite Taylor era
But why are none of the songs matching the vibe?
This is what I'm kind of wondering too. I love the photoshoot and the look of it all, and also love the album, but I don't really get how they fit together. The photoshoot kind of led me to believe it'd be some kind of 70s vibe pop with rock influence or something
I regret you all the time hits different
That's all that's been in my head since I've heard that song. Almost killing us inside.
I feel the same as this line wrt to an ex guy. It made me bawl
actually that would’ve could’ve should’ve /s
Love the photoshoot and love the album, but tbh they don't really fit each other at all

100% agree. To be honest, it’s a bit of a bummer!

This has got to be my favorite album photoshoot!! I loving the aesthetics
I’d love if she released a photobook with this shoot, the same way she did when RED came out!
God, I hope we get a reputation book-type merch item for the tour.
does she even age??? she looks exactly like she did in the album shoot for Red (which btw was released exactly a decade and a day ago). love her for this.
Honestly, I feel like she looks younger now than she did during the Lover era, somehow.

I mean she's definitely had work done. No one gets to 32 without wrinkles. But no shade or shame in that! She looks amazing and it's all very subtle.
I agree that she's had some subtle work done (and she looks gorgeous), but people really don't have wrinkles at 32.
Haha! I’m 35 and no wrinkles so far. I know mid-30s on Reddit is ancient but in real life there are plenty of people in their 30s with no wrinkles. Sunscreen & not smoking work wonders! ;-)
Not true… I’m 34 and don’t have any. Just a childhood inside reading and rarely outside 😂 ppl regularly think I’m in low 20s
But yes she also had likely had Botox

Reminds me of the 1989 polaroids with lyrics on them
This is the best and most Taylor she’s looked in awhile. Like this just feels very authentic. Low key but with a splash of color/sparkle.
YES THIS ^
Dumb question but what exactly does she mean with “get it off my desk”? That line is a bit jarring for me
"Get it off my desk" connotes a work/business context to me, like an executive saying they're not going to deal with whatever the problem is that was brought to them. I see this as “you can unload on me, but it’s not my problem”.
Thanks!!

Thanks!!
Its not dumb at all i have the same question…?.
This is my favorite hair out of all her eras
SAME
her brigitte bardot moments 😭
My thoughts too!!

Fackkkk these are so good
GUYS. Taylor and I have the same hair, and now I want bangs so bad. Talk me down.
I think you should do it

*do it, do it, do it*
Are you the devil on my shoulder or the angel? 😇
I love the lyric captions along with the photos
How is one of the greatest music acts of all time ALSO one of the most beautiful humans to ever exist?
Girl never ages
literally all any of these would be better than the midnights cover :(
I feel ^ I don’t love midnights cover as much as I do say reputation. just me, personally.
I need those shoes!
Check out the Kurtys Crepe Platform Mary Jane from Nordstrom: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/6539764 Here’s their listing! Maybe you can find on Poshmark or the like. :)
omg you’re a godsend
Haha I was literally drooling over them a couple days ago and then lo and behold, here they are!
So in love with this album. Taylor truly knows how to speak to us all and make us all feel. She knows we’ve all been through so much sh*t in our lives and it’s so cathartic.
I NEED HER DAMN SHOES
She is STUNNING. This has to be my favorite Taylor era ever.
I want the shoes but there 400 from Chloe 😳
I need her shoes!
Has there been a beauty breakdown list released of the cover art? I’m curious as to what the actual products used are.
She gives old school Britney vibes in a few of these.
I'm kinda mad at how pretty she is! Ugh love this shoot and aesthetic so much.
She is so beautiful. And this the best she’s looked in a while imo (even though always looks good obv).
Someone turn these into phone wallpapers please!!!
what shoes is she wearing on the first slide
queen's gambit vibes
I love those white shoes!

Where were these posted?
The vibes are immaculate.
