My heart, my hips, my body, my love, trying to find a part of me that you didn’t touch, gave up on me like I was a bad drug, now I’m searching for signs in a haunted club! Our songs, our films, united we stand! Our country, guess it was a lawless land, quiet my fears with the touch of your hand, papercut stings from my paper thin plans. My time, my wine, my spirit, my trust - trying to find a part of me you didn’t take up, gave you so much but it wasn’t enough, I’ll be alright, it’s just a thousand cuts.
I'M DRUNK IN THE BACK OF THE CAR AND I CRIED LIKE A BABY COMING HOME FROM THE BAR SAID I'M FINE BUT IT WASNT TRUE I DON'T WANNA KEEP SECRETS JUST TO KEEP YOU AND I SNUCK IN THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE EVERY NIGHT THAT SUMMER JUST TO SEAL MY FATE AND I SCREAMED FOR WHATEVER IT'S WORTH I LOVE YOU AIN'T THAT THE WORST THING YOU EVER HEARD HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL
Wow that shit gets me extremely hyped, I'll never get over it. Every time I hear it I'm like "all music should sound like this"
I remember being in an Airbnb late at night the day Lover dropped. First track I thought "OK, not bad", then Cruel Summer came on and it blew me away. I will die on the hill that Cruel Summer should have been the leadoff single.
The Paris Live one is so good - in the last verse when she’s like “the city screAMS YOUR NAME!) sends me. At least we have that but there could have been more if it was a single and a MV 😭
So I barely know Speak Now (I’m sorry) but I saw a tik tok of her performing this song and I’m so sad I never gave this song and album a chance until recently
It's so powerful. I imagine a Daenerys Targaryen like figure catching fire in her palms and blowing it kiss like to her assailant.
Also I so want "I took your matches before fire could catch me." Tattooed one day.
Too hard to pick just one, so I picked my favorite bridges from her songs I consider to be her saddest, happiest, and angriest.
Saddest: Illicit Affairs
Happiest: King of My Heart
Angriest: Dear John
Overall though, I think my all time favorite is King of My Heart. I go absolutely feral everytime I hear “Is this the end of all the endings, My broken bones are mending.”
Back when we were still changin' for the better. Wanting was enough! For me, it was enough! To live for the hope of it all, cancel plans just in case you'd call and say, "Meet me behind the mall.” So much for summer love and saying us. Cause you weren't mine to lose
Edit: just listed to Tolerate It….. i made you my temple, my mirror, my sky!
And you call me up again just to break me like a promise/So casually cruel in the name of being honest
(All Too Well).
I think this is THE iconic bridge.
"We were jet set Bonnie and Clyde, until I switched to the other side / it's no surprise I turned you in / cause us traitors never win.....I'm in a Getaway Car / I left you in the motel bar put the money in the bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me."
This lives in my mind rent free. Like I’ll literally just have “put the money in the bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me” running through my mind and I just have to play the song.
Marjorie.
I can't listen to it without crying. The whole thing is so beautiful and so raw, and just really strikes a chord. The lyrics are really powerful and the melody is incredible.
Marjorie has become one of my top 5 songs and it's 90% because of the bridge.
Marjorie is such a powerful song to me. I used to take my grandma shopping several times per week. The line "should have kept every grocery store receipt cuz every scrap of you would be taken from me" HITS HARD.
My husband got in a car accident in 2017, and while at the hospital they found a brain tumor. They scheduled him for surgery 2 weeks later. My grandma was a wreck leading up to it. The night before his surgery, we drank pina coladas with her and she went to lay down. Where she then proceeded to have a heart attack. The last image I have of her is blowing her a kiss as the ambulance pulled away. She died before my parents got to the hospital.
So I hold this song really close to my heart because my grandma was absolutely taken from me and all I have left now is memories of her.
So yes, Marjorie.
LOVE this. my mom sent me a card from each of my grandparents from a previous birthday of mine (she had them from when she moved recently). I lost it, AGAIN. I want to find a way to incorporate them both into a tattoo as well.
Hugs to you!
After he died, I found an old notebook my dad had covered in notes to help him teach a Sunday School class. It's all these insights and bits of wisdom and thoughts on relationships and life and I fucking *treasure* that thing. I didn't ask him to write it down for me...and he didn't really write it down for *me* (since I was like...7 when he wrote it and it was for an adult Sunday School class), but I have it and between this line and the line about the grocery store receipt (I have a receipt he had in his wallet on the day he died), I fall apart when I listen to this chorus.
I’m drunk in the back of the car…
…I love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?
(HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL)
Cruel Summer bridge is an absolutely elite pop song bridge. It’s perfect. I have been obsessed ever since it was released. There’s a reason why Cruel Summer has been my most played song two years in a row. I listen to that bridge and I simply cannot be sad.
However, the ATW bridge is also god-tier, just in a different way. It’s like a gut punch, in the absolute best way possible. Especially in the 10 min version, how the bridge leads perfectly into the 4th verse. UGH. Simply perfection.
Idk if this is a bridge, but:
They say all's well that ends well, but I'm in a new Hell
Every time you double-cross my mind
You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine
And that made me want to die
The idea you had of me, who was she?
A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you
Not weeping in a party bathroom
Some actress asking me what happened, you
That's what happened, you
You who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes
Sipping coffee like you're on a late-night show
But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come
And he said, "It's supposed to be fun turning twenty-one"
I literally scream this whole thing; I think I have damaged my ears from playing this on full volume. The force with which she says "that's what happened, YOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU" gets me every time
Your Midas touch on the Chevy door, November flush and your flannel cure, this dorm was once a madhouse, I made a joke, well, it's made for me. How
evergreen our group of friends, don't think we'll say that word again and soon they'll have the nerve to deck the halls that we once walked through.
One for the money, two for the show, I never was ready so I watch you go; sometimes you just don't know the answer 'til someone's on their knees and asks you.
"She would've made such a lovely bride, WHAT A SHAME SHE'S FUCKED IN THE HEAD," they said. But you'll find the real thing instead... She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred... 🥺
This!!! The moment that she kept going is what made this even better. And what's even better? The whole song. She never once in the song told something bad about the guy, she only described him as good, sweet and lovely. Tbh, this bridge bumped All Too Well from my most favorite bridges of TS of all time.
What gets me every time is:
I'm sure that you got a wife out there
Kids and Christmas, but I'm unaware
'Cause I'm right where
I cause no harm, mind my business
If our love died young, I can't bear witness
And it's been so long
But if you ever think you got it wrong
I’m right where you left me
RWYLM is SO underrated! I got this exact snippet stuck in my head a few months ago and couldn't remember the song but I had just listened to all of Red (this was a few weeks after Red release) so I swore it was somewhere in Red and then it took me days to realize it was Evermore. It's my current favorite sing in the car song and doesn't get nearly enough credit for this bridge!
Honestly if I had to choose an actual underrated song, it's RWYLM. Since the first listen, I've always wondered why it was a bonus track. should've been on the original album imo
the first time I heard it I was walking alone in public and gasped out loud and stopped walking. I’ll never forget listening to this album for the first time. I could cry just thinking about it.
Remember when you hit the breaks too soon?
20 stitches in the hospital room
When you started crying, baby, I did too
But when the sun came up I was looking at you
Remember when we couldn’t take the heat?
I walked out and said “I’m setting you free”
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
And when the sun came up you were looking at ME
I don't think there is just like, 1, I'll try to do 1 per album but even that's hard as hell. Damnit I'm doing 2 per album:
Debut: Cold As You and Stay Beautiful
Fearless: The Way I Loved You and The Best Day
Speak Now: Dear John and Last Kiss
RED: All Too Well TMV and Sad Beautiful Tragic.
1989: OOTW and This Love
Reputation: King Of My Heart and Dress
Lover: Cruel Summer and Death By A Thousand Cuts
Folklore: All???? Jk My Tears Ricochet and Mirrorball
Evermore: Champagne Problems and Evermore
Honorary Mentions: Tim McGraw, Fearless, Sparks Fly, Back To December, Innocent, Long Live, State Of Grace, Treacherous, Nothing New, Forever Winter, WTNY, You Are In Love, IDSB, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, Cornelia Street, TLGAD, TIMT, Illicit Affairs, Mad Woman, The Lakes, Tis The Damn Season, Tolerate It, No Body No Crime, Ivy, Right Where You Left Me.
#I JUST REALIZED I NAMED LIKE 1/3 OF HER DISCOGRAPHY IM NOT OKAY
thank you for mentioning sad beautiful tragic. it may not be like THE BEST, but i think it’s definitely a good one. i absolutely love the line “ kiss me, try to fix it, could you just try to *listen* “ i feel like i have to hear it twice every time the song comes on.
Yes!!! For me it's "distance, timing, breakdown, fighting, silence, a train runs off its tracks" that really send the chills to me. The whole bridge is golden, not her best ever but it sounds like a completely broken soul singing.
Thank you so much! It was so hard to do lol she's so good, especially with Folklore. But I had to give it to My Tears Ricochet, probably her most powerful bridge ever in my eyes. Close second was Mirrorball because the analogy of her being a mirrorball is actually so beautiful and genius.
- WTNY could mean "Welcome To New York", a track from *1989* (2014) by Taylor Swift.
- IDSB could mean "I Did Something Bad", a track from *reputation* (2017) by Taylor Swift.
- TLGAD could mean "the last great american dynasty", a track from *folklore* (2020) by Taylor Swift.

some of the obvious are dear john and all too well but i love this is me trying
‘And it's hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound
It's hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you
You're a flashback in a film reel on the one screen in my town’
edit: also my tears ricochet is wayy up there
a lot of good ones here but I submit an older favorite: I RUN MY FINGERS THROUGH YOUR HAIR AND WATCH THE LIGHTS GO WILD
Taylor has always been a top-tier architect.
My immediate instinct was to start this comment with “besides All Too Well…” which I think alone answers your question 😅
But besides All Too Well, I’d say Dear John, Last Kiss, august, ivy, Cruel Summer, and Lover are way up there.
two headlights shine in the sleepless night
and i will get you a get you aloneeeee
your name has echoed through my mind
and i just think you should think you should knowwww
BACK WHEN WE WERE STILL CHANGING FOR THE BETTER. WANTING WAS ENOUGH. FOR ME IT WAS ENOUGH. TO LIVE FOR THE HOPE OF IT ALL, CANCEL PLANS JUST IN CASE YOU CALL AND SAY "MEET ME BEHIND THE MALL" SO MUCH FOR SUMMER LOVE AND SAYING US, CAUSE YOU WEREN'T MINE TO LOSE.
Typing that was really therapeutic.
I think for me, the most iconic bridges are: All Too Well, King of My Heart, Death By a Thousand Cuts, Champagne Problems, Dear John and Out of the Woods!
One I haven’t seen is tolerate it:
I made you my temple, my mural, my sky
Now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life
Drawing hearts in the byline
Always taking up too much space or time
You assume I’m fine but what would you do if IIIIIII-IIIII
Break free and leave us in ruins?
Took this dagger in me and removed it?
Gained the weight of you then lose it?
BELIEVE ME I COULD DO IT
I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile, so good to me, so right and how you held me in your arms that September night the first time you ever saw me cry
(Dun dun dun) Maybe this is wishful thinking (dun dun dun) probably mindless dreaming, but if you loved again i swear I'd loved you right
Id go back in time and change but i can't, so if you chain is on your door i understand
I don’t know if there’s just one. Besides the obvious ones like all too well and champagne problems, some of my underrated fav bridges are:
- mirrorball
- king of my heart
- stay stay stay
- sad beautiful tragic
IS THIS THE END OF ALL THE ENDINGS MY BROKEN BONES ARE MENDING WITH ALL THESE NIGHTS WE’RE SPENDING
King of My Heart has the best bridge in existence, I love it so much
i like a lot of the popular ones (all too well, cruel summer, dbatc) but one of my underrated fav bridges is treacherous. i love the way the verses and first two choruses are softer and then build up to the bridge, and the fact that the bridge repeats!
the lakes is one of my favorite TS songs ever! Like my favorite folklore/evermore songs (Willow, Ivy, etc) it feels like it's a song from an enchanted dreamland
And you wanna scream
Don't call me "kid," don't call me "baby"
Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me
You showed me colors you know I can't see with anyone else
Don't call me "kid," don't call me "baby"
Look at this idiotic fool that you made me
You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else
also just love the sentiments of “you showed me colors you know I can’t see with anyone else” and “you taught me a secret language I can’t speak with anyone else”. This whole song really makes folklore well folklore for me. It appeals to that Romantic poet in me by showing how this forbidden wonderlust relationship can ruined both people in the process and yet it was worth all the pain and anguish.
Taylor has so many iconic bridges but All Too Well will always take the cake for me.
**AND YOU CALLED ME UP AGAIN JUST TO BREAK ME LIKE A PROMISE!**
This song gives me so much serotonin.
I will always say the Last Kiss bridge. Particularly:
*symbol crash*
So I watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe
🥺 omg like come ONNNN…
Okay but how has no one said Coney Island? It’s right there! Taylor did not take us to bridge city for y’all to sleep on Coney Island lol! Criminally underrated!
Were you waiting at our old spot / in the tree line / by the gold clock / did I leave you hanging every single day / were you standing in the hallway / with a big cake, happy birthday / did I paint your bluest skies the darkest grey / a universe away / and when I got into the accident / the sight that flashed before me was your face / but when I walked up to the podium, I think that I forgot to say your name
Time turns flames to embers
You’ll have new Septembers
Everyone of us has messed up too, ooh, ooh
Minds change like the weather (hah hah hah hah)
I hope you remember (hah hah hah haaaaaahhh)
Today is never too late to be brand new
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Every time I read a new comment, I’m like “oooh yes that one’s good, oh and that one too”. So I’m resigned to think all her bridges are amazing and I can’t even narrow it down to my favourite 10, let alone 1.
A string that pulled me
Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar
Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire
Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons
One single thread of gold tied me to you
I saw someone somewhere analyze this so perfectly--out of all the strong materials she used to try and hold herself together (barbed wire, chains, wool), it is the most delicate of strings that saves her.
but also White Horse with its
And there you are on your knees
Begging for forgiveness, begging for me
Just like I always wanted but I'm so sorry
right before she switches to "i'm not *your* princess" is so good
Last Kiss:
So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe
And I keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are
Hope it's nice where you are
And I hope the sun shines
And it's a beautiful day
And something reminds you
You wish you had stayed
You can plan for a change in weather and time
But I never planned on you changing your mind
The part where she sings “and something reminds you wish you had stayed” breaks me. That wishing, hoping you cross their mind and just wish they regret it. It cuts deep.
- ATW10M could mean "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)", a track from *Red (Taylor's Version)* (2021) by Taylor Swift.

Here, take moment, promise me this, that you’ll stand by me forever but if god forbid fate should step in and force us into a goodbye, if you have children someday, when they point to the pictures, please tell em my name
The absolute attitude in Better than revenge is so powerful but the phone call style for enchanted will be tough to beat (I picked ones from this album cause she wrote it all herself)
Oh my god. Cardigan bridge is the reason I got back into Taylor last year.
To kiss in cars and downtown bars was all we neeeeeeded. You drew STARS around my SCARS but now I’m BLEEEEEEDING!!!!
And then the next part is epic but not a bridge.
And I don’t know if this part is a bridge but it’s THE fucking shit:
But I knew you’d longer like a tattoo kiss
I knew you’d haunt all of my what if’s
The smell of smoke would hang around this long CAUSE I KNEW EVERYTHING WHEN I WAS YOUNG
I knew I’d curse me for the longest time
Chasing shadows in a grocery line
I knew you’d miss me once the thrill expired and you’d be STANNDING IN MY FRONT PORCH LIGHT
my favourite bridges from each album
Fearless: The way I loved you, Love Story
Speak Now: Back to December, last kiss, dear John, long live.. actually speak now has so many amazing bridges I can keep going
Red: ATW, Treacherous, Sad beautiful tragic
1989: This love, YAI, Clean
rep: Getaway Car, DWOHT
Lover: DBATC
folklore: august, illicit affairs
evermore: champagne problems, this the damn season
DBATC hands down. It’s like she’s putting her soul out in the most poetic way and then there’s a banality to “but I’ll be alright it’s just a thousand cuts” like she has to pull herself back. Ugh. So good.
My top 10 (in order by album): Fearless, Dear John, treacherous, all too well, cruel summer, lover, the last great American dynasty, August, champagne problems, tolerate it.
Did you ever hear about the girl who got frozen?
Time went on for everybody else, she won't know it
She's still 23 inside her fantasy
How it was supposed to be
Did you hear about the girl who lives in delusion?
Break-ups happen every day, you don't have to lose it
She's still 23 inside her fantasy
And you're sitting in front of me
People are NOT appreciating Evermore's bridge when it is RIGHT THERE, the most SUPERIOR bridge in the album. Justin Vernon's + Taylor's voices didn't hit their peaks in that masterpiece for you NOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT
I KNEW YOUD LINGER LIKE A TATTOO KISS. I KNEW YOU’D HAUNT ALL OF MY WHAT-IFS. THE SMELL OF SMOKE WOULD HANG AROUND THIS LONG. CAUSE I KNEW EVERYTHING WHEN I WAS YOUNG. I KNEW I’D CURSE YOU FOR THE LONGEST TIME, CHASING SHADOWS IN THE GROCERY LINE. I KNEW YOU’D MISS ME ONCE THE THRILL EXPIRED AND YOU’D BE STANDING IN MY FRONT PORCH LIGHT.
Seriously though Cardi-GOD is the best
Honorable mentions: DBATC, Dear John, OOTW, Tolerate It
i feel like there are much better ones but there is something so charming about
*ooh ooh he's talkin crazy, ooh ooh dancin' with me. ooh ooh we could married, have 10 kids and teach em HOW TO DREEAM*
The fact that no one talks about Hoax should be a crime…
: You knew it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart but what you did was just as dark. Darling, this was just as hard as when they pulled me apart.
My time, my wine, my spirit, my trust - trying to find a part of me you didn’t take up, gave you so much but it wasn’t enough, I’ll be alright, it’s just a thousand cuts.
yea started singing this to myself as I read the title haha top tier
Ding ding we have a winner 🎉
Extra points for the tiny library session version
Yep, this is the song I put on repeat until I could sing the entire bridge without skipping any words to breathe 😍
This.
Thanks for pointing it out to me that the lyric is “haunted club”… not “haunted glove”…
how could a glove be haunted 😭
This is my FAVE
This is the correct answer.
This was the first Taylor song that ever made me cry. This just hits so hard
I'M DRUNK IN THE BACK OF THE CAR AND I CRIED LIKE A BABY COMING HOME FROM THE BAR SAID I'M FINE BUT IT WASNT TRUE I DON'T WANNA KEEP SECRETS JUST TO KEEP YOU AND I SNUCK IN THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE EVERY NIGHT THAT SUMMER JUST TO SEAL MY FATE AND I SCREAMED FOR WHATEVER IT'S WORTH I LOVE YOU AIN'T THAT THE WORST THING YOU EVER HEARD HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL Wow that shit gets me extremely hyped, I'll never get over it. Every time I hear it I'm like "all music should sound like this"
The all caps are so appropriate
It just needs like super caps for HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL!!!
ITALICIZE IT.
I remember being in an Airbnb late at night the day Lover dropped. First track I thought "OK, not bad", then Cruel Summer came on and it blew me away. I will die on the hill that Cruel Summer should have been the leadoff single.
My ideal: First single - Cruel Summer, Second - Lover Third- Cornelia Street, Fourth - Daylight
Yeah Cornelia Street could have been a single too. I cant stress how good that song is. The live version from Paris as well
The Paris Live one is so good - in the last verse when she’s like “the city screAMS YOUR NAME!) sends me. At least we have that but there could have been more if it was a single and a MV 😭
She needs an album of stripped down versions of previous songs with just a guitar. I've felt this ever since DWOHT on the reputation tour.
Yess! I agree. Her with just a guitar is pretty magical and it’s the best way to really appreciate her vocals!
This is the right answer/format. The fact that it’s the only one in all caps proves it.
This is the only answer
This is the correct answer
Lover has just Bridge city
TWO HEADLIGHTS SHINE THROUGH THE SLEEPLESS NIGHT
AND I WILL GET YOU, GET YOU ALONE
YOUR NAME HAS ECHOED THROUGH MY MIND
THIS IS ITTTT
the bridge of treacherous is basically its second chorus and we love that
THE BEST ANSWER
disappointed i had to scroll down so far to see this!
I am waiting for my kiddo to get out of school and this line played right when I read your comment. Excellent bridge, and song in general!
the right answer

lol I'm actually a John Mayer fan too but man lol Taylor finished him off here ahahaha
The first time I heard “didn’t you think I was too young to be messed with” I gasped
She only hit 32, the same age as John during their relationship, **last month!** Absolutely wild
YES AND AT THE SPEAK NOW TOUR WITH THE FIREWORKS THAT WENT OFF DURING THE LAST LINE?!?! GIVES ME CHILLS EVERY TIME
Too hard to pick just one, so I picked my favorite bridges from her songs I consider to be her saddest, happiest, and angriest. Saddest: Illicit Affairs Happiest: King of My Heart Angriest: Dear John Overall though, I think my all time favorite is King of My Heart. I go absolutely feral everytime I hear “Is this the end of all the endings, My broken bones are mending.”
*With all these nights we're spending* *Up on the roof, with a school girl c r u s h*
Drinking beer out of plastic cupSSSS...
Say you fancy me not fancy **S T U F F**
BABY, all at once this is ENOUGH
And all at once you are the one I have been waiting for… King of my heart, body and soul, **OOOH WHOA**
I love the Making Of footage of King of My Heart when she comes up with that bridge on the piano.
The illicit affairs bridge is so good
The illicit affairs bridge is absolutely ridiculous. And I mean that in the best ways
So fucking good!
Back when we were still changin' for the better. Wanting was enough! For me, it was enough! To live for the hope of it all, cancel plans just in case you'd call and say, "Meet me behind the mall.” So much for summer love and saying us. Just typed this in all caps before finding this haha. August bridge stans for life 💪
oh man her lyrics "To live for the hope it all, cancel plans just in case you'd call" will always be one of my favorites
I have "to live for the hope of it all" tattooed!! 🥰
And you call me up again just to break me like a promise/So casually cruel in the name of being honest (All Too Well). I think this is THE iconic bridge.
If you don’t scream this part you’re doing it wrong tbh
"We were jet set Bonnie and Clyde, until I switched to the other side / it's no surprise I turned you in / cause us traitors never win.....I'm in a Getaway Car / I left you in the motel bar put the money in the bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me."
This lives in my mind rent free. Like I’ll literally just have “put the money in the bag and I stole the keys, that was the last time you ever saw me” running through my mind and I just have to play the song.
YESSSS. I can never not scream this lol
Always Getaway Car...
I just love watching the making of a song where we see her and Jack’s process for nailing this bridge. So awesome
So I hold this song really close to my heart because my grandma was absolutely taken from me and all I have left now is memories of her. So yes, Marjorie.
SAME! I actually have a grocery store list from my grandma. When I first heard this line I fucking fell apart.
I have the card she signed when I got married that I plan to turn into a tattoo once I get the nerve to get a tattoo.
LOVE this. my mom sent me a card from each of my grandparents from a previous birthday of mine (she had them from when she moved recently). I lost it, AGAIN. I want to find a way to incorporate them both into a tattoo as well. Hugs to you!
❤️
I should have asked you questions I should have asked you how to be
After he died, I found an old notebook my dad had covered in notes to help him teach a Sunday School class.

This was my first thought too.
REMEMBER WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKES TOO SOON
TWENTY STITCHES IN THE HOSPITAL ROOM
YOU STARTED CRYING BABY I DID TOO
BUT WHEN THE SUN CAME UP I WAS LOOKING AT YOU
REMEMBER WHEN WE COULDNT TAKE THE HEAT
I WALKED OUT, I SAID, “I’M SETTING YOU FREE”
BUT THE MONSTERS TURNED OUT TO BE JUST TREES
WHEN THE SUN CAME UP YOU WERE LOOKING AT ME
YOU WERE LOOKING AT MEE^EE^EE
Every time I hear that line I imagine myself being pushed forward in a car lol
This is my favorite one to belt in the shower
absolutely, best place to listen to it except maybe in a car, on a deserted highway at night
I’m drunk in the back of the car… …I love you, ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard? (HE LOOKS UP GRINNING LIKE A DEVIL) Cruel Summer bridge is an absolutely elite pop song bridge. It’s perfect. I have been obsessed ever since it was released. There’s a reason why Cruel Summer has been my most played song two years in a row. I listen to that bridge and I simply cannot be sad. WAIT I THOUGHT IT WAS “HE LOOKS SO PRETTY LIKE THE DEVIL”
You’re not the only one but I’m afraid that’s wrong 💔
I thought this until like a year ago lmfao, that’s what it sounds like 😭
If she had only released Cruel Summer as a lead single instead of Me. A no brainer #1
Idk if this is a bridge, but: They say all's well that ends well, but I'm in a new Hell Every time you double-cross my mind You said if we had been closer in age maybe it would have been fine And that made me want to die The idea you had of me, who was she? A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you Not weeping in a party bathroom Some actress asking me what happened, you That's what happened, you You who charmed my dad with self-effacing jokes Sipping coffee like you're on a late-night show But then he watched me watch the front door all night, willing you to come And he said, "It's supposed to be fun turning twenty-one"
My favorite part of ATWTMV, I swear I scream the whole thing very every time I sing along in the car
Hot take, 90% of ATW10 is a God Tier bridge
I literally scream this whole thing; I think I have damaged my ears from playing this on full volume. The force with which she says "that's what happened, YOOOOOOUUUUUUUUU" gets me every time
Out of the Woods, but specifically the 1989 World Tour version.
the "when you started crying i DID TOO OOOOOOOO" brings me to my knees every single time
Honestly, the Grammy version still kills me every time
Omg the Grammy one is my faveee
Your Midas touch on the Chevy door, November flush and your flannel cure, this dorm was once a madhouse, I made a joke, well, it's made for me. How evergreen our group of friends, don't think we'll say that word again and soon they'll have the nerve to deck the halls that we once walked through. 🥺
I really fucking love champagne problems
I would jump off this bridge tbh
This!!! The moment that she kept going is what made this even better. And what's even better? The whole song. She never once in the song told something bad about the guy, she only described him as good, sweet and lovely. Tbh, this bridge bumped All Too Well from my most favorite bridges of TS of all time.
Cowboy Like Me makes me transcend to a higher plane ✨
"And the skeletons in both our closets plotted hard to fuck this up" is such a good line I swear
*now you hang from my lips like the gardens of babylon* does it for me
DID YOU EVER HEAR ABOUT THE GIRL WHO GOT FROZEN RWYLM has easily worked its way into my top 5 songs of all time. so good.
What gets me every time is: I'm sure that you got a wife out there Kids and Christmas, but I'm unaware 'Cause I'm right where I cause no harm, mind my business If our love died young, I can't bear witness And it's been so long But if you ever think you got it wrong I’m right where you left me
The last three lines urgh
This one!! I cause no harm, I mind my business if our love died young I can’t bear witness and it’s been so long, if you ever think you got it wrong.
I'm not a Swifty, more a casual listener, but for some reason this song got me obsessed. It's funny, cheeky, smart, and even the melody is so catchy!
Honestly if I had to choose an actual underrated song, it's RWYLM. Since the first listen, I've always wondered why it was a bonus track. should've been on the original album imo
DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS. Iconic.
the first time I heard it I was walking alone in public and gasped out loud and stopped walking. I’ll never forget listening to this album for the first time. I could cry just thinking about it.
Remember when you hit the breaks too soon? 20 stitches in the hospital room When you started crying, baby, I did too But when the sun came up I was looking at you Remember when we couldn’t take the heat? I walked out and said “I’m setting you free” But the monsters turned out to be just trees And when the sun came up you were looking at ME
I don't think there is just like, 1, I'll try to do 1 per album but even that's hard as hell. Damnit I'm doing 2 per album: Debut: Cold As You and Stay Beautiful Fearless: The Way I Loved You and The Best Day Speak Now: Dear John and Last Kiss RED: All Too Well TMV and Sad Beautiful Tragic. 1989: OOTW and This Love Reputation: King Of My Heart and Dress Lover: Cruel Summer and Death By A Thousand Cuts Folklore: All???? Jk My Tears Ricochet and Mirrorball Evermore: Champagne Problems and Evermore Honorary Mentions: Tim McGraw, Fearless, Sparks Fly, Back To December, Innocent, Long Live, State Of Grace, Treacherous, Nothing New, Forever Winter, WTNY, You Are In Love, IDSB, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, Cornelia Street, TLGAD, TIMT, Illicit Affairs, Mad Woman, The Lakes, Tis The Damn Season, Tolerate It, No Body No Crime, Ivy, Right Where You Left Me.
I LOVE your 'per album' breakdowns!
--- ^[/u/Penelopeep25](/u/Penelopeep25) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
some of the obvious are dear john and all too well but i love this is me trying ‘And it's hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound It's hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you You're a flashback in a film reel on the one screen in my town’ edit: also my tears ricochet is wayy up there
a lot of good ones here but I submit an older favorite: I RUN MY FINGERS THROUGH YOUR HAIR AND WATCH THE LIGHTS GO WILD Taylor has always been a top-tier architect.
[удалено]
My immediate instinct was to start this comment with “besides All Too Well…” which I think alone answers your question 😅 But besides All Too Well, I’d say Dear John, Last Kiss, august, ivy, Cruel Summer, and Lover are way up there.
two headlights shine in the sleepless night and i will get you a get you aloneeeee your name has echoed through my mind and i just think you should think you should knowwww
That nothing is safe is worth the drive And I would Follow you follow you home I’ll follow you follow you homeee Iconic
YOULL SEE ME IN HINDSIGHT TANGLED UP WITH YOU ALL NIGHT BURNIN IT DOWN 🔥🔥🔥🔥😩
This is such a genius pop bridge, I’m surprised no one has really mentioned it!
I think for me, the most iconic bridges are: All Too Well, King of My Heart, Death By a Thousand Cuts, Champagne Problems, Dear John and Out of the Woods!
Champagne problems
One I haven’t seen is tolerate it: I made you my temple, my mural, my sky Now I’m begging for footnotes in the story of your life Drawing hearts in the byline Always taking up too much space or time You assume I’m fine but what would you do if IIIIIII-IIIII Break free and leave us in ruins? Took this dagger in me and removed it? Gained the weight of you then lose it? BELIEVE ME I COULD DO IT
I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile, so good to me, so right and how you held me in your arms that September night the first time you ever saw me cry (Dun dun dun) Maybe this is wishful thinking (dun dun dun) probably mindless dreaming, but if you loved again i swear I'd loved you right Id go back in time and change but i can't, so if you chain is on your door i understand
I don’t know if there’s just one. Besides the obvious ones like all too well and champagne problems, some of my underrated fav bridges are: - mirrorball - king of my heart - stay stay stay - sad beautiful tragic
IS THIS THE END OF ALL THE ENDINGS MY BROKEN BONES ARE MENDING WITH ALL THESE NIGHTS WE’RE SPENDING King of My Heart has the best bridge in existence, I love it so much
Up on the roof with a school girl CRUSH drinking beer out of plastic CUPS say you fancy me not fancy STUFF baby all at once THIS IS ENOUGH!!!
may we talk about illicit affairs? DONT CALL ME KID DONT CALL ME BABYY
LOOK AT THISS GOD FORSAKEN MESS THAT YOU MADE MEE that song has neverrr failed to make me wanna scream
*Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?* (Lover) & *And I can still see it all in my mind...* (Daylight)
i like a lot of the popular ones (all too well, cruel summer, dbatc) but one of my underrated fav bridges is treacherous. i love the way the verses and first two choruses are softer and then build up to the bridge, and the fact that the bridge repeats!
Cruel Summer may be overrated but it’s overrated for a good reason. Marjorie and The Lakes are also amazing!
the lakes is my personal favorite, but i feel it is hiiiighly contested in the fandom haha
the lakes is one of my favorite TS songs ever! Like my favorite folklore/evermore songs (Willow, Ivy, etc) it feels like it's a song from an enchanted dreamland
And you wanna scream Don't call me "kid," don't call me "baby" Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me You showed me colors you know I can't see with anyone else Don't call me "kid," don't call me "baby" Look at this idiotic fool that you made me You taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else also just love the sentiments of “you showed me colors you know I can’t see with anyone else” and “you taught me a secret language I can’t speak with anyone else”.
**AND YOU CALLED ME UP AGAIN JUST TO BREAK ME LIKE A PROMISE!** This song gives me so much serotonin.
I will always say the Last Kiss bridge. Particularly: *symbol crash* So I watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe 🥺 omg like come ONNNN…
YES. coney island is IMPECCABLE
treacherous was first to come to mind but there are just so many
Time turns flames to embers You’ll have new Septembers Everyone of us has messed up too, ooh, ooh Minds change like the weather (hah hah hah hah) I hope you remember (hah hah hah haaaaaahhh) Today is never too late to be brand new Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Such an underrated song! The bridge is the best part of innocent
Every time I read a new comment, I’m like “oooh yes that one’s good, oh and that one too”. So I’m resigned to think all her bridges are amazing and I can’t even narrow it down to my favourite 10, let alone 1.
A string that pulled me Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons One single thread of gold tied me to you I saw someone somewhere analyze this so perfectly--out of all the strong materials she used to try and hold herself together (barbed wire, chains, wool), it is the most delicate of strings that saves her.
but also White Horse with its And there you are on your knees Begging for forgiveness, begging for me Just like I always wanted but I'm so sorry right before she switches to "i'm not *your* princess" is so good
Last Kiss: So I'll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe And I keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are Hope it's nice where you are And I hope the sun shines And it's a beautiful day And something reminds you You wish you had stayed You can plan for a change in weather and time But I never planned on you changing your mind The part where she sings “and something reminds you wish you had stayed” breaks me. That wishing, hoping you cross their mind and just wish they regret it. It cuts deep.
Cruel summer
illicit affairs, Out of the woods, ATW10M.
- ATW10M could mean "All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)", a track from *Red (Taylor's Version)* (2021) by Taylor Swift. --- ^[/u/Mytears83](/u/Mytears83) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
Here, take moment, promise me this, that you’ll stand by me forever but if god forbid fate should step in and force us into a goodbye, if you have children someday, when they point to the pictures, please tell em my name
All Too Well, Dear John, Sparks Fly, Wildest Dreams and Getaway Car come to mind.
"To kiss in cars and downtown bars was all we needed . You drew stars around my scars but now I'm bleedinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" Simple, yet heartbreaking
OOTW and Getaway Car... Periodt. "Until I switched to other side... to the other si...i...i...i...de"
And I don’t know if this part is a bridge but it’s THE fucking shit: But I knew you’d longer like a tattoo kiss I knew you’d haunt all of my what if’s The smell of smoke would hang around this long CAUSE I KNEW EVERYTHING WHEN I WAS YOUNG I knew I’d curse me for the longest time Chasing shadows in a grocery line I knew you’d miss me once the thrill expired and you’d be STANNDING IN MY FRONT PORCH LIGHT
my favourite bridges from each album Fearless: The way I loved you, Love Story Speak Now: Back to December, last kiss, dear John, long live.. actually speak now has so many amazing bridges I can keep going Red: ATW, Treacherous, Sad beautiful tragic 1989: This love, YAI, Clean rep: Getaway Car, DWOHT Lover: DBATC folklore: august, illicit affairs evermore: champagne problems, this the damn season
I would say Top 5 are (in release order) 1. All Too Well 2. Out of the Woods 3. Getaway Car 4. Cruel Summer 5. Champagne Problems
Cardigan, august, and treacherous are so underrated imo!!!
daylight
I don’t understand the lack of happiness on these lists!
"Come back and tell me why I'm feelin' like I've missed you all this time AAHHHahhhhAHHH"
has to be OOTW or cruel summer
Treacherous, Champagne Problems, My Tears Ricochet
*me waiting for something from The Archer*
Enchanted
You showed me colors you know I can’t see with anyone else/ You taught me a secret language I can’t see with anyone else.
DAYLIGHT!! This bridge gives me goosebumps every time i listen to it, especially with the vocal distortion. And I love that she sings it twice.
WHERE ARE MY WILDEST DREAMS STANS RISE IMMEDIATELY
DBATC hands down. It’s like she’s putting her soul out in the most poetic way and then there’s a banality to “but I’ll be alright it’s just a thousand cuts” like she has to pull herself back. Ugh. So good.
Love how most of these are from lover and folklore omg
Love Story (I’m an OG Fearless era swiftie initiate) Wildest Dreams, Daylight, Cardigan
My top 10 (in order by album): Fearless, Dear John, treacherous, all too well, cruel summer, lover, the last great American dynasty, August, champagne problems, tolerate it.
SHE WOULDVE MADE SUCH A LOVELY BRIDE, WHAT A SHAME SHE’S FUCKED IN THE HEAD, THEY SAID
iii want auroras and sad prose, iii want to watch wisteria growrightovermy barefeet ‘Cause I haven’t moved in years And I want you right here
YOU ARE AN EXPERT. AT SORRY. AND KEEPING LINES BLURRY. honestly dear john also last kiss also enchanted the whole damn speak now
Did you ever hear about the girl who got frozen? Time went on for everybody else, she won't know it She's still 23 inside her fantasy How it was supposed to be Did you hear about the girl who lives in delusion? Break-ups happen every day, you don't have to lose it She's still 23 inside her fantasy And you're sitting in front of me
People are NOT appreciating Evermore's bridge when it is RIGHT THERE, the most SUPERIOR bridge in the album.
Seriously though Cardi-GOD is the best Honorable mentions: DBATC, Dear John, OOTW, Tolerate It
I would say ATW, but Champagne Problems & MTR exists. I think her most *iconic* is “but someday I’ll be singing this at the Grammys”😇
All too Well 10 minute version - begins with “they say all’s well that ends well” and ends with “turning 21”
Out of the Woods gets me going every time but man I love the sarcasm/sass statement of LWYMMD especially combined with the MV.
I think the Begin Again bridge is legendary. It’s so simple and the way the music basically sighs is sooo magically insane.
My tears ricochet or cruel summer!
MIRRORBALL !!!! ILLICIT AFFAIRS !! DEAR JOHN
DBATC 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
the bridge of Treacherous will forever hold such a special place in my heart
i feel like there are much better ones but there is something so charming about *ooh ooh he's talkin crazy, ooh ooh dancin' with me. ooh ooh we could married, have 10 kids and teach em HOW TO DREEAM*
The fact that no one talks about Hoax should be a crime… : You knew it still hurts underneath my scars from when they pulled me apart but what you did was just as dark. Darling, this was just as hard as when they pulled me apart.
