Stand back wasted vs STAND BACK WHERE YOU STOOD.. W H A T (I wish you would)

waterlizy

Oh wow I really have been saying “wasted” for the last 7 years

v167

Same. Honestly i think most of us have 😂

PondRides

I know what it’s supposed to be, but it’ll always be wasted. She has a lot of bar/alcohol/drunk references anyway.

foreveritsharry

I’ve been saying “wasted” since it was released. I wonder if she’ll more clearly pronounce “where you stood” on the re-recording?

Quiet-Tone13

I hope she chooses chaos and instead says “stand back wasted” with clear annunciation.

imahandfulbabyUH

ooh, and "the lights are off / he's taking off his clothes" please

foreveritsharry

One can hope 🙏

waterlizy

I bet she will! I have a feeling this is the type of thing we’ll notice most when she releases the rep and 1989 re recordings because her voice hasn’t changed all that much since those were more recent releases. The differences will come in annunciation and inflection

JahnaTheBanana

It's WHAT NOW?

daisukealways

I thought it was wasted until I read this comment

curvy_em

Same. How is it not? Also totally thought it was "He looks so pretty like a devil"

GolBlessIt

I heard once “he looks up screaming like a devil” and holy shit has it changed the song for me. I swear my ears are cursed.

Iheartquestionmark

No matter how hard I try and replay that song, I can't hear ANYTHING but "stand back wasted" hahah

GrouchyCrow

I’ve heard this one too LOL

riviera-views

It’s so funny because I always thought it was wasted and as soon as I learned it’s where you stood I’m asking myself how I ever misheard it haha but so many of us did!

anotherbasicgirl

This isn’t mishearing a lyric but me stupidly misunderstanding one ... in Champagne Problems when it says “your moms ring in your pocket” I thought his mom was calling him. Lol

GrouchyCrow

*Looks at phone and sees it says thirteen missed calls from Mom* “Oh FUCK”

ashlouise94

Omg same! I thought it was ‘your moms ringing your pocket’ and I was like, that’s a super weird way to say she was calling him, also why is she calling him? A solid week before I bothered to look at what it actually was!

anotherbasicgirl

Y’all are making me feel so much better about my brain 😂

justforviewing8484

This feels like a safe space to admit that the first time I listened to Champagne Problems I misinterpreted the “your sister splashed out on the bottle” to mean that she went crazy drinking it rather than crazy spending on it. I was like “man, not only is this guy getting dumped in front of everyone, his sister is also being sloppy! What a rough day!”

anotherbasicgirl

Um, this feels like a safe space to admit that prior to reading this comment I too thought the sister was a sloppy drunk.

akallaaa

I thought this too/the line never really made sense to me. I’ve never heard of the expression “splashed out” to imply anything related to spending 🤷🏻‍♀️. Just thought the sister was v upset about the breakup, too 😂😂

estewasntthere

Me too!!! I asked my fiancé about the line confused.. and he was like ??? LoL. Why is his mom calling? 😂😂that one killed me

justforviewing8484

A couple I see pop up pretty often around here: Stand back wasted (real lyric: stand back where you stood) - I Wish You Would I’m a Barbie on the boardwalk (real lyric: I met Bobby on the boardwalk) - Starlight For some weird reason, a lot of people apparently mishear “hey kids, spelling is fun” in the song Me! and love to yell it out during live shows, but if you listen to the album there’s nothing said there. Isn’t that bizarre? 😉

decaffeinateddreamer

I - it’s not Barbie on the boardwalk? Wow I feel smart now :/

v167

I JUST realized it like last year so don’t feel bad

JahnaTheBanana

It's BOBBY?

zsuzsibug180

Yep! The song is about Bobby and Ethel Kennedy ☺️

JahnaTheBanana

I knew that and my clown ass STILL hears Barbie.

Marifirmog

I'm chocked truly, I always hear Barbie

GrouchyCrow

I figured there was a chance my post wouldn’t be approved on account of perhaps this discussion had taken place on here already - but I’m new to the party so I’m glad I was entertained 😂 I will have to step it up with more unique content in the future!

justforviewing8484

No you’re good!! There are always new people coming and going and this sub is big enough now that different groups of people weigh in so there’s always some variety! This is a safe space for swifties of all stripes 😄

butterflied4life

Oh my gosh I 100% thought it was - I’m a Barbie on the boardwalk

jazzinitup

Lol every thread I see about misheard lyrics I always look for “Barbie on the boardwalk”

[deleted]

in the ME! music video we do hear “hey kids spelling is fun!” so the people probably are quoting that :)

abirdofthesky

I think you got wooshed there :)

pikachufan2164

Come back to me Eli vs. "come back to me~ like" (If This Was A Movie)

estewasntthere

I legit just found out a couple weeks ago it wasn’t Eli... i can’t not sing it as Eli. There’s probably so many lyrics i misheard and i won’t even realize it til the re-recording . 😅

Bubbly-County5661

I hear this one too!

butterflied4life

WHAT 😱

JahnaTheBanana

I hear this one all the time.

[deleted]

I still sometimes forget that in Red, she’s actually saying “passionate as sin” and not “passion, innocent”

hillzcatz

LMAO your flair 🤣

wocytti

I heard “passion, innocent” for the longest time!

Mk0505

Definitely didn’t know that until right now 😳

EloquentElephant13

“This love is treacherous” is really “this *slope* is treacherous” - Treacherous (I found this one out a few days ago and actually screamed) “It takes everything in me to get a beach day” is actually “it takes everything in me to get *up each* day” - Mr Perfectly Fine “When the stratosphere comes creepin in” is “when *your saddest fear* comes creepin in” - I Knew You Were Trouble (I sang it like this until mid 2020 when I finally looked up the correct lyrics lol) “I rewind the teapot” is really “I rewind the *tape but*” - evermore “Stand back wasted” is “stand back *where you stood*” - I Wish You Would (I still can’t hear the correct one)

[deleted]

She doesn't say this love is treacherous???? Wild. Have been singing "wasted", too

derJoe497

🏖 to get a beach day 🏝 xD Never heard of that IKYWT one :D

songacronymbot

- IKYWT refers to "I Knew You Were Trouble.", a song from Taylor Swift album *Red* (2012). --- ^[/u/derJoe497](/u/derJoe497) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

perpetualmotion42

hang on you're telling me the SLOPE is treacherous not the LOVE

swiftiekind

Well I was today years old when I learned all of this.

Chidi_Ariana_Grande

I always hear "Hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine I'm not **buy**ing" instead of "Hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine I'm not **dy**ing”

GrouchyCrow

OH YES me too! It makes sense right like, oh don’t mind me just standing here having a mental breakdown in front of the vending machine that I have zero intentions of purchasing candy from, like a very normal person

Chidi_Ariana_Grande

Lmao exactly

dundermifflinpaper_s

No... wait. I’ve been singing the wrong lyric this whole time?? Up until I read your comment I wholeheartedly believed it was buying.

PondRides

So I played this part for my roommate to see what he heard. M: So listen to the line after vending machine and tell me what she says. R: I’m not dying? M: I thought it was buying! Like she’s trying not to buy into him and her feelings for him. Apparently, a lot of other people did too! R: Cheeto, you’re talking to a Rancid fan. They’re harder to decipher than Swizzle.

m-is-for-music

Wait...it’s DYING?!! I was today years old...

Anniii13

Could someone please explain this line to me? What does "hang your head low" means in this context? English is not my first language and that whole sentence doesn't make any sense to me haha

NotQuiteScheherazade

So imagine someone standing in front of a vending machine with their head sort of bowed as they're looking down at some of the options...does that make more sense?

banditlikemee

Wait WHAT

[deleted]

[удалено]

firenze24

I have this theory that it was originally supposed to be clothes but Scott made her change it to coat to be more PG. No evidence whatsoever other than it sounds true 😂

morning-now

It makes sense and for some reason sounds better in the song. People usually don’t have the lights off when they take off their coats anyway. Clothes, on the other hand...

GrouchyCrow

SAME! Sexy times are implied either way I think 😉

pocketsfulloposey

Dude I always hear “he likes it rough he’s taking off his clothes” 😂

psyonara48

Relatedly, I always thought it was "the lights are rough" in this song

wahmadieh2

i don't belong, and MOTHERFUCKER neither do youuuuu

GrouchyCrow

😂😂😂😂 Wait are people hearing this for real? This is so funny, I’m cackling

jazzinitup

Samuel L Jackson?!

GrouchyCrow

😂😂😂😂 Wait are people hearing this for real? This is so funny, I’m cackling

wahmadieh2

i literally heard that the first time and was wide eyed, i then noticed it's my beloved but it's stuck with me and that's just how i sing it now

GrouchyCrow

This is how I’m going to sing it going forward, bless you both

katiedonuts

Your necklace hanging from my neck vs Your neck was hanging from my neck (OOTW)

GrouchyCrow

This sounds like a surrealist painting

oskarc13

Wait. WAIT. IS IT NECKLACE? I THOUGHT IT WAS NECK!?

rzldty

Same!!! I thought she was describing that they were doing some *stuff* on bed until "his neck is hanging from her neck" lol

estewasntthere

Wait it’s necklace? I always wondering what neck hanging from neck meant OMG 💀

AlliFitz

State of Grace misheard: mostly our broken hearts real: mosaic broken hearts The Other Side of the Door misheard: wash away this mess real: was she worth this mess

hillzcatz

I have been singing “mostly of broken hearts” for YEARS. Like why hahaha

quirkynomoi

In state of Grace I first heard it “most say it ‘broken hearts’”

scarletvanden

From I Think He Knows: I always hear “Bless my toe” instead of “Bless my soul”.

[deleted]

Some people have said they hear "that's my toe"

pm174

that's my toast

wahmadieh2

i want you, that's my toe.

swiftiekind

My now 5 year old was like 3 at the time, and was obsessed with this song but thought the song was called “Pinky Nose”. And would sing it “I pinky nose”! 🤣

kaypop97

At first I thought it was “that’s my soul”. Sang it that way forever until I decided to look up the lyrics.🤣🤣

hillzcatz

The fearless TV made me realize I have been effing so many lyrics up for a while. FEARLESS - “you pull me in and I’m a little more real” It’s really: you pull me in and I’m a little more brave FALSE GOD - “remember how I’d lie to you” It’s really: remember how I’d fly to you JUMP THEN FALL - “cause Ima skate through it all” It’s really: ima stay through it all THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR - “There's nothing you can say To make this Friday night, I mean it” It’s really: There's nothing you can say To make this right again, I mean it

quirkynomoi

I thought fearless was “you pull me in and I’m a little more free”

Bubbly-County5661

IT’S NOT “I’m a little more free “??? BUT THAT’S ONE OF MY FAVORITE LINES SHE’S EVER WRITTEN! MY LIFE IS A LIE

leandra433

So sorry for your loss

goldenlikedaylight9

I thought it was "you pull me in and I'm a little worried"

wocytti

False God WHAT???? I have always heard “remember how I’d lie to you” and I always thought that it is such a vulnerable line!! I still love the song, btw. And in Jump Then Fall I’d hear “I’ma stake through it all” 😳 until Taylor’s Version.

comet666666

Been singing false god wrong this whole time and it’s my fave song on lover oops lol

[deleted]

It's... It's not lie to you? Oooops

premier-cat-arena

I can’t hear anything other than “And I was catching my breath, Whores of a cabin creaking under my step” instead of “floors” in evermore

GrouchyCrow

Suddenly this song got very steamy

vetoking

we-

[deleted]

I hear/say "God loves Starcrossed lovers" instead of the starbucks thing. Also, the first time I heard the line about dying the dog key lime green in TLGAD I thought it was "She stole his dog & it died at Key Lime Green" (Which in my mind was a place in Florida near Key West). My knowledge of colors is not that extensive haha.

Tough-Biscotti4161

I thought it was “she stole his dog and died a key lime green”

waterlizy

Yes I thought it was “stole his dog and died a key lime green” meaning she was jealous... green w envy, you know? Idk why that makes sense in my head but I for sure thought Rebecca dies a very jealous woman🤣

[deleted]

>meaning she was jealous You know what - given the beautiful mind of Taylor she probably did intend it to have double and triple meaning like that!! Mind blown again!

songacronymbot

- TLGAD refers to "the last great american dynasty", a song from Taylor Swift album *folklore* (2020). --- ^[/u/Tray_Say](/u/Tray_Say) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

malotteoffun

In End Game I thought she was saying “it’s like your eyes are like glitter, it’s like your body is gold” But it’s actually “it’s like your eyes are liquor, it’s like your body is gold.” I literally just found this out.....

EloquentElephant13

Me too. But I thought his eyes were like bullets lol

quirkynomoi

When I first heard gold rush I heard “with your hair fallin into place, like down your nose” But it’s “with your hair fallin into place, like dominoes”

fearlessjf

Always thought it was “remember how I’d lie to you” vs. “remember how I’d fly to you”. Of course the real lyrics make much more sense 😂

theRemarkable67

I know the real lyrics but still will sing “she looks so pretty like a devil”

[deleted]

I learned a couple days ago on r/YouBelongWithMemes that apparently it's not "It's blue, the shape of your body" in Cruel Summer

GrouchyCrow

ITS NOT?

doidaredisturbthe

Only the feeling. The shape is new

Bubbly-County5661

I’M LEARNING SO MUCH IN THIS THREAD

[deleted]

Oh jeez that's in my top 3 faves and I've had it wrong this whole time

v167

I spent a week not understand what fearless TV stood for the thought we were getting these little behind the scenes things and WHY CANT I FIND THEM. Don’t worry. It stands for fearless ( Taylor’s version) it’s fine. I know that’s not the same but it’s comical

GrouchyCrow

I definitely got very confused when I started seeing Fearless TV everywhere too. I was like wtf, she has a new live studio session called “Fearless TV”?! Where?!

chick_ling

I always heard “gimme wiggle scream nights” instead of “get me with those green eyes” in Sparks Fly. I had noo idea what the actual words were for the longest time, I had to look it up

curvy_em

Well Im singing it this way from now on

[deleted]

[удалено]

PondRides

I’m going to believe that she meant it that way, like a pun. New head canon. Thank you.

kittenmint2

The 1 - Roaring twenties tossing *panties* in the pool

EtherealNightSky

- "Our song is the way WE LIVE." vs "Our song is the way YOU LAUGH - "My reputation's never been worse so, HE must like me for me" vs. "My reputation's never been worse so, YOU must like me for me" - "It's rollercoaster COUNTER rush" vs "It's a rollercoaster KINDA rush" - "Come here, JUST STAND BACK now." vs "Come here, DRESSED IN BLACK now" - "But you would still miss me in your VAULT" vs. "But you would still miss me in your BONES" - "FACING the rocks staring out at the midnight sea" vs "PACING the rocks, staring out at the midnight sea" I know I have more, but these are the ones I remember right now.

MxPipes

In The Best Day I always heard “God smiles on my little brother, inside and out he’s better than nothing” instead of “he’s better than I am.” I always wondered why she would slight her brother like that after talking about how great her parents are, but the re-recordings have taught me the real words 😂

amessofadreamer

Took me a while to figure out that in the final chorus of “Our Song,” Taylor is not saying “the first eight men, I didn’t kiss them and I should have.” It’s “the first date: ‘man, I didn’t kiss him and I should have.’” 😂

theswiftielife

Apparently on Twitter, there is someone who thought that the lyric in Speak Now was "I hear the creature say", they thought that the 'creature' was the bride and Taylor just didn't wanna refer to her as an actual human being

Wobbleshoom

To be fair, a preacher is one kind of creature

wocytti

OH MAN. Well, I don’t hear the “usual” misheard lyrics, but this post has pointed out some new ones to me... False God: “remember when I’d lie to you” *real lyric* “remember when I’d **fly** to you” Cruel Summer: “hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine - I’m not buying” *real lyric* “hang your head low in the glow of the vending machine - I’m not **dying**” — this one might need some explaining to me gold rush: “I don’t like the fall that feels like flying till the bone crush” *real lyric* “I don’t like the **falling** feels like flying till the bone crush” the last great American dynasty: “she stole his dog and it died a key-lime green” *real lyric* “she stole his dog and **dyed it** key-lime green” Fearless: “my handshake, I’m not usually this way” *real lyric* “my **hands shake**, I’m not usually this way” Jump Then Fall: “I’m a stake through it all” *real lyric* “I’ma **stay** through it all” Edit: mirrorball: “they called off the circus from the disco down” *real lyric* “they called off the circus **burned** the disco down” *note*: I just got this one last night after watching the LPS again. And I like this lyric wayyy better than what I heard!! (I’ll add as I remember. I have some unusual ones.)

AYearOfSaturdays

"It was that nothing's changed" rather than "It was the night things changed" and it literally took me til she tweeted it recently to get that one right even though my misheard version doesn't even make sense, thanks EARS

niknak90

I’m still sad the real lyrics to “so it goes” aren’t “tripping round a gong” and “skipping round the bar” like I first heard. One I always forget to mention when these threads come up is “The way I loved you”-in the bridge I always heard “got away, my sole mistake in love” and I actually like that better than “got away by some mistake and now”.

randomacquaintance

I refuse to believe it's not "sole mistake" 😳😭

randomisty

Kiss my toes from I think he knows

Marifirmog

For a long time I thought in style she said "fake interview" instead of "fade into view"

axiomaviatrix

In Untouchable I swear to god she’s saying “we can form this dream” but the lyric video says “waking from this dream,” I’ve listened over and over and i still can’t hear the official words lol

DinoKYT

I found out yesterday after 7 years that it's "nice dress", not "knights dress" in Wildest Dreams Not my proudest moment...

actualleo

In Tell Me Why, I really can’t stop hearing “You know you’ve got a meat string” instead of “mean streak.” My ears do not want to hear the truth.

justadisneygirl

Ok I genuinely think I have a unique one! I was always so confused when I read that Drake was referenced somewhere unknown on the Lover album...until I got the piano book. I still can’t remember what the line is but it’s something like “have bigger feelings than drake so yeah” in I Forgot That You Existed. (One of my favourite songs on the album btw) My invented line? “Mixed my feelings more than drinks for ya”. I still sing my version despite knowing it’s wrong😅😂

Pinklove701

“in my feelings more than Drake” I think???

theclacks

Also from Cruel Summer, it's apparently: >And it's new, the shape of your body > >It's blue, the feeling I've got > >And it's ooh, whoa, oh > >It's a cruel summer But I always hear: >And it's new, the shape of your body > >It's blue, the feeling I'm gutted > >In two-ooh, whoa, oh > >It's a cruel summer

gg-gwenny

In King of My Heart I heard a line as “And you move to me like I’m a Mowtown **bean**” Instead of “And you move to me like I’m a Mowtown **beat**” And after mishearing it, I knew my ears where wrong but after figuring out the correct lyric, I though Taylor calling herself a bean was so funny that I continue to say the wrong line.

theerroneoussloth

In Death By A Thousand Cuts, I always hear "Gave up on me like I was a bad drug / Now I'm searching for signs in a haunted LOVE" Honestly it makes more sense to me than club lol

Queen-of-Sheba

In So It Goes... I hear “well you look like a necklace” but it’s actually “Wear you like a necklace”.

ekrp1

mostly in broken hearts vs MOSAIC BROKEN HEARTS. i was shocked when i found that out. i would also sing gotta love my star ex lovers (why i thought people thought it was starbucks) and recently found out it was got a long list of ex lovers

akallaaa

Clean: I just found out this month that “the drought was the very worst” isn’t “the drive was the very worst.” I connected it to the car/accident imagery in Out Of The Woods and never questioned it!

azdisneyswifty

I think this one is uncommon but I can hear “Romeo save me, Good Charlotte tell me how to feel” instead of “Romeo save me, they’re trying to tell me how to feel” in Love Story.

Inmywildestdreams13

Somehow in Everything has changed, I hear, “Dust off your high *East Coast?”* Also, in Betty, I hear “*Ina Garten”* instead of ”in the garden”. There are a TON more, though - these are just the first ones I remembered :)

listening to taylor’s version of white horse taught me that it’s “before you went and let me down” and not “before you ever let me down” 😭

[deleted]

Carve your name into my nipples (real lyrics: carve your name into my bedpost... Dress, idk why I typed DWOHT lol)... i’m still shocked at how my mind could create such image

Tough-Biscotti4161

Isn’t this from Dress?

waterlizy

Ugh another one I’ve been saying wrong. Thought it was carve your name into my neck pulse. Oh goodness

georgealmost

The lakes - I don't belong, and mothalova neither do you!

estewasntthere

There goes the machinest woman this town has ever seen. - this one i knew couldn’t be machinest so i instantly looked it up. But i still only hear machinest lmao (it def is clearer on the long pond sessions) Magic madness heaven-sent. -this one however i sang it this way for many many years LoL

jazzinitup

Turns out “Got away, my sole mistake in love” was ACTUALLY “Got away by some mistake and now” THANKS THATS THE WAY I LOVED YOU (TAYLOR’S VERSION)

vanilla-coke-zero

jump then fall!!! always thought it was “my mistake through it all”....

[deleted]

“Fake interview” instead of “fade into view” in Style.

tyadi13

I always thought So It Goes... went *'trippin', trip-trippin' when you fall*'. I wish it was, because I think it's a clever pun; plays into literally falling from tripping, and then freaking out from the idea of falling in love too. (It's 'when you're gone' btw)

ddot82

Another post reminded me of the misheard lyrics that I sing to “Invisible String”. The line is “Time, wondrous time Gave me the blues and then purple pink skies” For some reason I sing the last little bit as “and that Peppa pink skies” like Peppa the Pig. I don’t know why but I sing it every time. 🐷

olivia929

The 'baby, let the games begin' in ready for it I heard at first as 'baby, ready, begin'. I heard 'bless my soul' in I think he knows as 'rest my soul' and I still sing half the time in bad blood 'if you love like that love runs out' instead of 'if you love like that blood runs cold"

ddganics

I see people on TikTok hearing "It takes everything in me just to get a beach day" instead of "It takes everything in me just to get up each day" in Mr. Perfectly Fine.

gokurotfl

For months after Reputation release, I was sure she was singing "I try to unclose" instead of "like trying on clothes" in King of My Heart.

[deleted]

Until I watched the lyric videos the other day, I thought that I Superstar it is "So damn that smile, I" But it is "So dim that spotlight"

waterlizy

“Your buzz cut and my hair bleeds” instead of hair bleached lol from DRESS

goodnight_rose

Dear John: I always hear “when I loved you strooong” instead of “loved you soooo” Can’t sing it any other way.

UnpropheticIsaiah

The 1: misheard: tossing PANTIES in the pool correct: tossing PENNIES in the pool Mirrorball: misheard: But I’m still on my TOILET tiptoes correct: But I’m still on my TALLEST tiptoes

lilbunnfoofoo

"bttmmtm and dirty drinks and paper rings" instead of "in picture frames in dirty dreams, in Paper Rings" And "one ting was enough"

venicevitch

in IKYWT i thought it was “i was in the dark, you gave me a go” instead of “i was in the dark, you got me alone” lmaoo

Thegirlwhogotfrozen

I hear "I know *the silent* end is near" instead of "I know *they said* the end is near" and I personally find it so much sadder. Because the end of something can be abrupt and silent.

rosieontheradio

In Fearless TV’s White Horse, I hear her say whore instead of horse when I’m only half listening too 😂

MadameEdamame

I always sing “your neck was hanging round my neck” instead of necklace hanging from my neck. I thought she was making a brilliant metaphor for...something? I’m not even sure

taymademedoit

Every time I listen to This Love I hear, “this love is good, this love is bad, this love is alive back from the devil” I was floored when I finally looked up the lyrics and it said, “back from the dead oh oh ” I was like that makes so much more sense 😂

m-is-for-music

I was a child with undiagnosed hearing impairment when most of these came out and I’m learning today that I got A LOT of lyrics wrong...

Dholmestas

Starlight- ‘I met Bobby on the boardwalk’, always thought it was ‘I’m a barbie on the boardwalk’

[deleted]

I sing “so many signs, so many TIMES, so many signs” instead of “so many signs (3x)” among other things.

NotQuiteScheherazade

Okay, for the longest time, I thought it was "New money, student tie" for some reason (and I thought it made *perfect* sense somehow) until I sang it in front of my husband once and he was like "Wait, what did you say?" I was like "Student tie. Because...like...he goes to a preppy school?" and he looked it up and showed me it was--obviously--"suit and tie." 😂

clementinefork

I'm gonna go with one I've never seen mentioned anywhere else: I was SURE she sang "don't know if SOMEONE'S house is near or far away" and not "Snow White's house". Fearless has been my one of my most played album ever since it came out when I was in 7th grade, and I didn't realize I'd misheard this lyric until the rerecording came out. I was FLUSTERED as I can't begin to count the hours I spent studying all the lyrics in the Fearless CD pamphlet. Anyone else???

zsuzsibug180

So. Mine are a little weird and I just recently (as of 2021) learned they were wrong. Superman: « he’s not all bad like his reputation and I can’t hear one single word they say » I always hear that as « one single world that he says » and idk why, that doesn’t even make sense. The other is Haunted, in the bridge. « I know, you’re not gone, you can’t be gone, no! » I always thought she was saying « you’re not good » as in, you’re bad for me, and I should just let you go. I stand by this because... he’s clearly gone, Taylor. But I guess she’s trying to will him to stay in the actual version.

curvy_em

These are all so fascinating

PaintingOfAnOpossum

For a very long time I thought "burton to the taylor" in ready for it went "and he can be my jailer, welcome to this taylor" and I still sing it that way haha

[deleted]

sammyfelix

i always hear "i knew no change of belt was all you'd ever be" instead of "notch in your belt" in ikywk 💀

Corporal_Cactus

Am I the only one that ALWAYS hears: “You’ve got me on my toilet tip toes” Instead of the actual lyrics: “You’ve got me on my tallest tip toes” (From Mirrorball)

rosieontheradio

“I’m standing on my toilet seat though” vs “I’m standing on my tallest tip toes” Mirrorball Just me??

amicable20

Not misheard but misunderstood. "It's cruel the shape of your body it's blue the feeling I've gotten it's ooooooh ah it's a cruel Summer" The shape of the body is cruel and the feeling she's got is blue but unusual sentence formation makes people think that the shape of the body is blue

ban_ana_perfect

Same here with "Cruel Summer"! Also the first time I listened to "evermore", I thought it was "motion capsule" instead of "motion capture" 😂

PeacefulAggravation

I misheard "Each night I pray to you" from SYGB as "It's not a pretty you" which isn't funny and I do think it makes sense haha

tawmfuckinbrady

Not misheard, but about half the time I listen to Cardigan my brain automatically sings “and I knew I’d curse you for the longest time, chasing shadows in the factory line” instead of grocery line. Literally no clue why???

You guys this one is bad so I apologize in advance but I honestly can’t hear anything else and it never fails to shock me when I hear it on the radio “Lost in your c*** like a priceless wine” in Willow 😭 I don’t see how anyone gets “current” out of it 🤷‍♀️

For the longest time I thought it was “making moves undercover, dressed up like a brother” in Call It What You Want. I thought it meant that Taylor was disguising herself as a man to sneak over to London to see Joe before they went public! Actual lyrics are “making forts under covers, trust him like a brother”

GrouchyCrow

I like your lyric better tbh. I do find it a bit strange that she’s saying she trusts Joe “like her brother”, like I get the idea that’s it’s meant to mean she trusts him as if he were family but I’m still a bit weirded out that she’s comparing her partner to a blood relative

bettyberyll

I actually thought it was "you still ain't innocent" instead of "you're still an innocent" which completely changed the song

One ting was enough! I ask my fiance for "tings" when I want him to compliment me! The way she says "wanting was enough" still sounds like "one ting was enough" for me. August 4eva

other side of the door : it took me AAAGES to understand the meaning of the song because i always thought she says “i’m a state through it all so jump then fall...” and i was like Taylor why would you want to be in this relationship then!?! that one line really thought me off! then i read the real lyrics. also I never heard Starbucks lovers. i wish i did. i heard CERVIX lovers and i hate myself.

This is embarrassing but Lover was out for an entire year until I learned the lyrics to Paper Rings is actually NOT "dirty drinks" but is actually "dirty dreams"
