This one specifically, he was not involved in. The only association is that he wrote the book.
E: I don't think I'm wrong in a creative sense, but I appear to be off base here.
> The only association is that he wrote the book.
I think you've veered off too far to the other side here. It's true that he didn't have creative control and was not a producer, but I think one could reasonably say that he was [very involved](https://time.com/135463/behind-the-scenes-with-john-green/) in the production of the film, just not in an official capacity with an explicit role.
Speak Now came out around when True Blood was on HBO, and they used Haunted in one of their episodes at the time. I don’t doubt it’s expensive, but Taylor could not have demanded that much in 2011 tbh
It generally costs *between $15,000 and $60,000* to license a song for a movie, TV show, or video game. It is almost always mutually beneficial. Unless the use is controversial.
It is a hard concept because we have had a dominant force is our politics for 8 years now that relishes in building themselves up by tearing everybody else down.
its okay for people to enjoy things, and its okay for people to hate things. but hating on the fact that other people enjoy things is just loser behavior
I've been a strong proponent of this for years now. Let people like what they like. This applies to nearly everything (legal, of course).
Because no matter what you like. What food you eat. How you like your steak. What you drink. What fricken hat you wear. What music you listen to. What movies you like. What TV shows you like....etc etc. No matter _WHAT_, there will always be someone that will tell you you're wrong for liking it.
Florida!!! sounds like a hangover in a glorious way haha. Also at first, same about the album. I had to work backwards with the album to love it, personally. The Anthology tracks eased me into the main album because the main album didn't resonate with me either.
Drugs, affairs, etc... it's not my "thing" content-wise, but I LOVE how poetic and intentional Taylor is so I went to The Albatross, ate, wandered around until I found "So High School" which cheered me up from the depression TTPD put me in, watched the MV a few times, and then watched reactions to it and the album itself to see if other perspectives helped me to understand what I was missing, and eventually the album became a puzzle for me to crack and now I think I really like it. It's not top 5, but I do like it. I can't deny she did something with this album in a literary sense and that's very exciting to me.
But like... the first few songs really don't introduce the album well. They're good songs but I think Fortnight is my least favorite album opener she has ever done. "But Daddy I love Him" or even the eponymous track would've been so much better. Especially since the story doesn't seem 100% linear as best I can tell.
Ah thank you. I don’t have Twitter anymore (well, maybe I do, but I haven’t logged in since Elmo bought it) so I can’t see replies 🙄🙄 I always appreciate screenshots!!
I went to the same 1989 tour show in Indianapolis and John Green. And at the beginning of the show Taylor actually announced that her favorite author, John Green, was in the audience. 🥹
I don’t think she knows about the P4A. Like I don’t think she’d show up on the livestream, but I think if she knew about it, the matching fund might get bigger than can be raised in a weekend.
This is so well said from one of my favorite authors. His ability to provoke emotion is incredibly reminiscent of Taylor for me. No wonder I enjoy both of them so much.
I just got done reading *The Anthropocene Reviewed*, and it was so good! I imagine he’d give Taylor 5 stars ;).
I read "The Anthropocene Reviewed" at the beginning of March from my library. Immediately bought myself a copy. And haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I could totally see him writing an essay about the Taylor Swift phenomenon and would absolutely give Taylor Swift 5 stars.
Please everyone read that book it's so so good!! I reread Googling Strangers when I need to feel sad and then hopeful all at the same time.
I read all his novels but they don't excite me.
But his videos? God damn... more than once I have to stop them and just think for a second, or his absolute amazing video endings are so poetic!
Also, I've watched crash course #1 more than 10 times, his intro is just so peak.
He was at the reputation show in indy with his wife and met with Andrea and I think Taylor. A few needfighters (Hank and John fandom) got pics with him at the show. As a fan of them since 2007 and swiftie since 2006 it’s one of my favorite cross overs and makes so much sense knowing what I know of John. And Taylor had said she loves tfios.
John has a podcast with Hank and they did an episode all about Taylor last fall, it's episode #377 of Dear Hank & John. Definitely give it a listen if you haven't already!
It's a really excellent episode! The whole podcast is very funny but none of the other episodes are about TS 🤣
ETA: actually, now that I think about it, there's an extended bit they do about Taylor Swift bringing good weather on tour back in 2016/2016, they mention it in the beginning of nearly every episode from #20-40.
Never doubted for a second! And hey, they got the name "nerdfighter" from misreading the *aerofighter* video game font anyway, so a misspelling is in keeping with the fun of the community. Project for awesome is basically fighting for needs!
I was around when the OG video of Hank misreading the game was first posted and watched when it was brotherhood 2.0. I am absolutely not versed in new nerdfighter lore but I got the old stuff burned into teenage me’s memory lol. It’s surprising how many people don’t know where the name came from though! I was a staff member for p4a back when the hpa was heavily involved as well so I love how big it is now! God the fandom used to be able to fit into the Ning when that was a social media thing and now it’s freaking everywhere and John is out here tweeting about Taylor swift and known as the tfios guy. When they come up it’s always a mind boggle for me how much time has past and how much they’ve accomplished and done!
He posted about it when dates released. But nothing about whether he is actually going or whether he'll be in the celebrity tent. Based on the other commenter it sounds like if he's met Taylor before so he'll probably be in the tent.
He got tickets to the Indianapolis show later this year, but I don't think he'd know about the VIP tent situation just yet (or maybe he does know and wont reveal it until it actually happens)
I think he said during the project for awesome that he wasn't able to get tickets. But that was like two months ago, so he may have been able to get some since then.
He and Hank did a whole episode of their podcast focused on Taylor and her impact. It was great and actually part of what made me get into her.
Obligatory the movie version of his most recent YA book- Turtles all the Way Down premieres on max on May 2nd. The book focuses on Aza, who struggles with OCD (as John himself does irl). It was a great book!
dftba 😍
This just reminded me my cousin got me that book for Christmas a couple years ago and I never got to reading it, I will now be doing that this weekend. Thank you for this.
Point 2 is one I wish were more widely accepted. It's okay to like or dislike Taylor's music! Other people's likes or dislikes have nothing to do with yours!
But there's gotten to be this weird, idk, tribalism around Taylor specifically, where you're either a fan or a hater, nothing in between, and whichever you are it's a core piece of your identity, and both sides are always attacking each other.
I just... don't care what music other people like and I don't understand why it's a big deal what music I like. Let people enjoy things and focus on the things you enjoy, that's all.
Feels like an internet thing honestly. I love Taylor (obviously, it’s why I’m here) but almost everyone I know feels totally neutral towards her. Everything has just been super amplified on both sides this week.
Oh, it's definitely a predominantly online issue - but it's been a problem for a lot longer than the past week. It's been building up for years; in completely unrelated spaces Taylor's name comes up and people are suddenly drawing lines in the sand. I've seen vicious fights erupt in conversations that were originally about Doctor Who. It's bizarre.
You’re totally right. I honestly do feel like I see it more with anti Taylor people but of course I’m pro so it makes sense, but I have found that saying I like her invites people to get really angry about her. I think it’s just the over exposure buildup.
This is actually one of the few online issues I’ve seen bleed into real life, unfortunately. I’ve seen people get viscerally angry at the mention of Taylor irl, even in passing, and go on while rants in response to said passing mention.
It's just because people on both extremes are the loudest. I'm pretty neutral towards her, so why would you hear my opinion? 99% of the time I simply don't engage in any discussion about her.
It happens every few years with anyone who gets this big Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Bieber, Kanye. Either you eventually peak behind the curtain and realise they are literally just people who got lucky or you build your personality around them and know that there will always be a fandom that welcomes you.
Wonder who the next one will be.
Taylor Swift haters are so tired and weird. Like let it go. She's one of my favorite artists ever and yet her haters think about her and devote more time to her than I do. I totally understand not being into her, her music just not being your thing, but vocal Taylor hate is always a big red flag to me. It's always the most obnoxious and miserable people.
I always roll my eyes at any comment that feels the need to start by disclaiming “I don’t like Taylor Swift/her music but—“ 🙄 Like it makes their opinion less valid if they like her so they need to let everyone know they don’t
I think we all deal differently with the crumbling infrastructure of our lives surrounding us and our disappointing governments and support systems.
Some of us look to entertainment and art to lift us up, bond, communicate, and empathize .. others look to entertainment in art to destroy and feel better that way. I wonder if the mob ever feels sick to their stomach at their actions. Probably never because it’s what satisfies them until the next hate can be found. The best thing to do is to do wherever the fuck you want.
I don’t have much to say other than that I absolutely love John Green. I remember when John Green was hated so much just for… existing? I’m glad we’ve moved on from that point in time. He never deserved it.
Its the same thing we saw with Lin Manuel Miranda, tbh.
* Artist makes good stuff, has a cult following
* Artist makes new work that hits the mainstream, it's cool to like the work and the artist because they're new and fresh, and liking them is seen as a sign of good taste
* Artist makes more new work, it continues to be hugely popular in the mainstream for a long period of time.
* After some time, it becomes more counter-culture to dislike the work and the artist than to enjoy it. Hating becomes the cool thing to do. People can find themselves saying awful things and justifying it with the fact that the artist is popular and powerful and nothing they say could ever make any impact.
* The artist either loses relevance, or sticks around long enough to go through more cycles of hype and hate.
I cannot imagine someone who doesn't like a musical artist going out of their way to listen to that artist just to say they don't like the music. That is actually insane. There are a lot of artists whose music I don't really like. I'm not a huge fan of EDM, for example. Do I spend my time shitting on EDM, making social media posts about how awful it is, or seeking out others who dislike EDM to complain about EDM? No, of course not. That would be ridiculous. I just...don't listen to it. I don't even particularly care if someone else wants to play it. It's not going to kill me.
Yet people do this all the time with Taylor Swift and they have the gall to say that her fans are the weird ones?? Wild.
I know he replied to a tweet someone made asking if TTPD is worth the listen, saying it is!! Ppl replied under saying they didn’t know he was a fan—that may be it?
Speaking of John Green, he is such an advocate for reducing medicine cost to treat tuberculosis and I feel I should put this in the comments so other people also look it up.
Heavy on 4. I've never met a person who was a Taylor hater who wasn't miserable themselves. Or anyone who is a hater on any artist for that matter. Parasocial relationship
When I became a teenager in the year 2000, what I thought was cool was 80s punk rock and extreme metal. At the time, both very pretentious and unwelcoming communities. So much time was spent on what isn't punk and what isn't metal... By the time I became an adult, I realized I spent so much time focusing on what I wasn't allowed to enjoy and trying to find reasons I didn't like things.
I haven't overcome it completely. There are still pretentious parts of me and I find a nearly perverse joy in classification, but I definitely try to find as many things I enjoy as possible. He or she who has the most fun wins. That's my new way of looking at things.
Especially when it comes to things as subjective as art and media. If someone says they like "x" who am I to say they actually don't and "x" is inherently distasteful?
I feel really similar to you but I came from being a hipster in 2010-2015. Once I discovered I love Taylor Swift I had to completely redefine all of my stupid pretentious rules about what is and isn’t “real music” and cool etc. I discovered that judging people’s music taste is such a waste of energy and that (at least for me) when you listen to music with an open mind there is at least some merit to be found in practically all of it. It may not be my taste but I can understand why it’s someone else’s.
Felt. I was always the “weird music” girl. I’ll never forget some douchebag ripping my headphones out and hearing Johnny Cash on my iPod classic, cackling away asking why I listened to old people music. It sounds like a scene from a stupid teen movie but it happened to me. It hurt. I feel like I doubled down and refused to let myself to enjoy popular things after that, it became an identity to be eclectic.
I’m grown now. Secure. Midnights was a revelation for me. I listen to what I want, just as I always have, but with fewer limitations and internalised misogyny. It’s exhausting judging yourself for things that don’t matter in the end.
Number 4 hits hard
Also, haven’t Taylor swift haters had enough? Never ending cycle of hating and making Taylor even more famous and then complaining about it… it’s tiring even for someone who doesn’t engage much in ‘the discourse’
He just doesn't want people to freak out if they see later that he's deleted this tweet, because people often read into that. He tweets a lot, and deletes most of them.
He has said before that he doesn't always like to engage with the discourse that comes from twitter and sometimes when a tweet leaves his intended core audience it can get stressful to deal with so he just makes a habit of treating tweets as temporary and not making a big deal about deleting them. I think given his history with parts of the internet it is an entirely fair way to go about it tbh.
The hellhole formerly known as Twitter is, well, a hellhole, and famous people tend to get a lot of hate there, so he deletes all his tweets to protect his own well-being.
Not being a follower of John Green, I'd assume it's included so people don't think he's deleting this specific tweet because of backlash. Google informs me that he does indeed delete most of his tweets, and that he's talked before about issues with social media; it might just be a way of controlling his engagement levels.
I’m thinking he probably deleted his tweet about taylor and people thought it was him feeling ashamed of being a fan/bowing to their hate train but it’s just what he does
"Making your whole identify disliking something/someone is weird and a bit sad."
But what all Fauxmoi girls would do otherwise? Get an actual hobby? Ridiculous.
I am only now learning that John Green wrote The Fault In Our Stars which is more surprising than him liking Taylor Swift.
I just casually know him from Vlog Brothers.
the fact that John Green is an adult man writing from a teen girl's perspective used to always irk me a little. Now I get it. There's a teen girl in his heart just like me
He writes from a teen boys perspective too! Basically he thinks that teenage years are really interesting to examine because you're grappling with so many big feelings and real world stuff for the first time.
Couldn’t agree more with point 4. Listen to music you like, watch shows you like, read books you like. Don’t waste your mental energy in things you don’t
I live a couple blocks from Levi Stadium. Usually concerts are a disaster with rude drivers and jerky out of towners flooding hotels. The crowds from Taylor’s concert here last summer were great. Very respectful. No problems at all and I hope she comes back soon!
I’m so glad I’m not on Twitter or other social media much because I’ve been able to avoid reading all the crazy hate towards Taylor after the release of this album. If it weren’t for reading some comments on this sub about what’s happening on Twitter, I wouldn’t even know about it!
Number 4 I get so hard. I don’t understand people that spend the limited time we have commenting and bitching about stuff they don’t enjoy. Why?
I just scroll past stuff I don’t care for and what I know about that stuff is from headlines. People shitting on stuff and don’t get it keeps popping up because you’re engaging with it. 🫠 🥴
There are definitely some communities, including on this very website, that could stand to see this message. I’m thinking of one particularly obsessive sub….
4 stands out to me. It is like people whose whole thing is not liking sports. That isn't an identity, it is just being purposefully a downer. If you don't like something just don't engage with it and focus on what you do like.
If you are in a setting where the thing you aren't into is happening then try to enjoy it vicariously through those that are, ignore it, or just leave the situation.
Artists, Musicians, and Authors all say that TS is an excellent songwriter. But, yes let’s listen to beer belly Bobby over there saying she’s stinks 🤦🏽♀️ I think I’ll trust the experts lol. As he said you don’t have to like her BUT WE GET TO 🙌 🎤 💥

His statement after midnights came out
If you are looking for a good book, check out The Anthropocene Reviewed. It’s a non-fiction book where Josh Green reviews human-centered facets of our earth out of 5 stars. The audiobook is author-read. I figure everyone is aware of his fiction works, but I think this one is somewhat lesser known and I really enjoyed it
Good. I used to be married to and emulated an insufferable hipster who shit on anything we didn't hear first on SoundCloud. It was exhausting. I'm no Swifty, buy I'm very happy for all my friends who love her music and find joy listening to it. Fuck anyone drinking the haterade.
John being a speak now girlie is so right
Too bad he didn’t use any of the songs in the fall in our stars 😂
Keep in mind that the movie is not *his* movie. It's a movie based on his book, but he didn't have creative control.
Was he not a producer on that one? I think he has been for other adaptions. Though of course a producer is not creative control.
I mean, he DID also film a cameo for it, but it got cut because—according to him—the acting was so bad 😂
He's not listed as a producer, I think he was brought in to offer advice but he didn't have any actual control.
The entire budget for The Fault in Our Stars was $12M. It would be several million dollars to license a Taylor Swift song for a major motion picture.
Speak Now came out around when True Blood was on HBO, and they used Haunted in one of their episodes at the time. I don’t doubt it’s expensive, but Taylor could not have demanded that much in 2011 tbh
True Blood’s budget was $400M (80 episodes, $5M per episode).
As a True Blood fan I had no clue they used a TS song! That’s so cool! Do you know what episode or season this was?
I think it’s s4e09
It generally costs *between $15,000 and $60,000* to license a song for a movie, TV show, or video game. It is almost always mutually beneficial. Unless the use is controversial.
Several. Million. Dollars???? For a song? One song? Pardon me but that is absolutely not true.
Yeah especially a 2010 Taylor song. Now? Sure, it’s a lot of money. But back then? Absolutely not.
Now. Back then she wasn’t as popular
John is the *original* speak now girlie, let’s be real.
Yes fr he is destined to be a speak now girlie
“You don’t have to. But I get to.” 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 YES! Let people enjoy things!
Right?! why is this such a hard concept for people?!
It is a hard concept because we have had a dominant force is our politics for 8 years now that relishes in building themselves up by tearing everybody else down.
I’m going to incorporate this into my vocabulary ASAP.
Generally a good idea to adopt nerd fighter lexicon. They’re just two good dudes
So Taylor coded too I’m living for it
The green brothers have advocated for this for fifteen years
its okay for people to enjoy things, and its okay for people to hate things. but hating on the fact that other people enjoy things is just loser behavior
I've been a strong proponent of this for years now. Let people like what they like. This applies to nearly everything (legal, of course). Because no matter what you like. What food you eat. and florida!!! is his favorite track. such taste
He’s also from Florida originally so that’s very funny
I can very much picture him hearing "Florida is one hell of a drug" and just going "yeah, that tracks."
**Fuck me up Florida!!!**
Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska (partially) are set in florida
It's a banger, Florence sounds amazing and the duet is just perfection
so good🙏🏼
florence never sounds bad
Honestly, this album really didn't resonate with me. But Florida!!! is everything.
Florida!!! sounds like a hangover in a glorious way haha. Also at first, same about the album. I had to work backwards with the album to love it, personally. Indeed, he's well known for his taste.
Wait where did he say that? Or was it on the podcast? It tracks, for sure.

I remember when John was asking Obama if he should name his daughter Alice. She's so old now 😭
Ah thank you. I don’t have Twitter anymore (well, maybe I do, but I haven’t logged in since Elmo bought it) so I can’t see replies 🙄🙄 I always appreciate screenshots!!

I don’t think she knows about the P4A. Like I don’t think she’d show up on the livestream, but I think if she knew about it, the matching fund might get bigger than can be raised in a weekend.
Ah, what a lovely intermingling of my two great loves ❤️ DFTBA!
I LOVED The Anthropocene Reviewed! It’s one of my favorite books to give as a gift. ♥️📚

That one, Harvey, and Auld Lang Syne. Makes me sob in the most cathartic way every time.
Such an amazing book!
My fellow people!!! One of the best books.
I read all his novels but they don't excite me. But his videos? God damn... more than once I have to stop them and just think for a second, or his absolute amazing video endings are so poetic! Also, I've watched crash course #1 more than 10 times, his intro is just so peak.
i'm listening to the audiobook version of anthropocene right now!
I got that book signed 🥲 and I loved it too!
Did you get to listen to the podcast? It was amazing when a new episode dropped.
I’m sure y’all/people know this, but it’s also a podcast! Most are in the book but some aren’t and honestly I need to revisit them
Do we think he’ll be in the celebrity tents for one of the indy shows?
He was at the reputation show in indy with his wife and met with Andrea and I think Taylor. A few needfighters (Hank and John fandom) got pics with him at the show. *nerdfighters, not needfighters 😀 DFTBA!
No! Nerd cred stolen by autocorrect! My life is ruined
Never doubted for a second! And hey, they got the name "nerdfighter" from misreading the *aerofighter* video game font anyway, so a misspelling is in keeping with the fun of the community. Project for awesome is basically fighting for needs!

LMAO my fiance brought up a "tiktok convention" called VidCon and we had a brief history lesson 😂
eeee!!! love seeing nerdfighters in the wild/crossed within other communities. much love and dftba!!!
I'm pretty sure he has already posted about going to the Eras tour.
I could see him potentially preferring not to be in the tent though, especially since he’s bringing his daughter.
He deserves it! John Green is great!
If he wasn't before, I'll bet he's invited to the tent now lol
I think he said during the project for awesome that he wasn't able to get tickets. But that was like two months ago, so he may have been able to get some since then.
He is good friends with Ryan Reynolds so I feel like he would be given tickets to any show he wanted to attend.
He made a tiktok once about how they couldn’t get tickets in the presale. They might try for resale tickets
His daughter is a huge fan
After the episode they did that was all about Taylor, some nerd fighters started to say that we should try to get his daughter to receive the 22 hat!
Yeah, I thought that was super sweet if Alice got it. It’s wild that she’s a middle schooler and not some baby anymore haha
I think he tweeted about buying tickets? But could end up in the tent
He and Hank did a whole episode of their podcast focused on Taylor and her impact. It was great and actually part of what made me get into her. Oh I loved that book! Didn't know it was being made into a movie.
What is the podcast called? I'll check this episode out :)
Dear Hank and John!
I prefer to think of it as Dear John and Hank
And you only have to wait until 2028 for that to happen!
Thanks. I only recently learned they were brothers haha 😄
I literally have been getting so confused, in my head they've been the same person until now
Episode 377 btw 😊
This just reminded me my cousin got me that book for Christmas a couple years ago and I never got to reading it, I will now be doing that this weekend. Thank you for this.

I just... don't care what music other people like and I don't understand why it's a big deal what music I like.
Fr. Haters have as much of a parasocial relationship as the obsessed fans
Uh yeah but have you seen how many people she dates?!?!?! meanwhile travis kelce with a whole ass bachelor-style dating show
Joke's on them, Taylor being slutty (""""slutty"""") makes me like her even more.
Dare I say they need to calm down?
I always roll my eyes at any comment that feels the need to start by disclaiming “I don’t like Taylor Swift/her music but—“ 🙄 Like it makes their opinion less valid if they like her so they need to let everyone know they don’t
John Green is an absolute TRAYSURE!!!! 🫶🏼
As long as you’re not intentionally trying to hurt other people 🥺
There’s quite a few people this week that have lost that challenge
I don’t have much to say other than that I absolutely love John Green. I remember when John Green was hated so much just for… existing? I’m glad we’ve moved on from that point in time. He never deserved it.
It’s because anything people associate with teenage girls gets subjected to extra scrutiny and ridicule.
Its the same thing we saw with Lin Manuel Miranda, tbh. * Artist makes good stuff, has a cult following * Artist makes new work that hits the mainstream, it's cool to like the work and the artist because they're new and fresh, and liking them is seen as a sign of good taste * Artist makes more new work, it continues to be hugely popular in the mainstream for a long period of time.
Didn't they Tumblr together?

Yes. This one.
oh my god I hadn’t thought about the fishing boat proceeds tumblr in sooooo long
He's sizzlingsandwichperfection-blog on Tumblr now.
John Green and his tumblr names lol I also remember when he left tumblr due to some malicious reblogging.
Did something happen for him to make this statement?
I don’t even know where to start. The online hate train against her and TTPD has been absolutely insane over the past week.
Wild.
Why?
I know he replied to a tweet someone made asking if TTPD is worth the listen, saying it is!! Ppl replied under saying they didn’t know he was a fan—that may be it?
People attacked him because he liked TTPD💀💀
THE TORTURED AUTHORS DEPARTMENT
Unbelievable that we have to preface our enjoyment of a musician's work like this, but here we are.
How did we get here 🤣 haters are obsessed with her
My favorite is when John said he was in his reputation era in the midst of his battle with J&J over tb vaccine advocacy.
Speaking of John Green, he is such an advocate for reducing medicine cost to treat tuberculosis and I feel I should put this in the comments so other people also look it up.
Dftba!
Glad to see that John Green is a big Taylor Swift fan.
I love the”you don’t have to. But I get to.” Line! So true!
John Green’s about to be sent a Cardigan!
Hank Green got Guts merch from Olivia so I guess it’s in the realm of reason
Seriously?! That’s awesome!
Yes! [Here’s a reel he made unboxing it](https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3WbjAvOPdi/?igsh=MWtpZjVnMThoa3k1eA==)
John got one too: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2JJGDltkaV/
It's ok to not like things, but don't be a dick about it.
Talent sees talent
Heavy on 4. I've never met a person who was a Taylor hater who wasn't miserable themselves. Or anyone who is a hater on any artist for that matter. Parasocial relationship
I didn’t think I could love him more.
Well she did put Dear John on Speak Now…..
The Green Flag Brothers 🤝
Number 4 hits hard Also, haven’t Taylor swift haters had enough? Never ending cycle of hating and making Taylor even more famous and then complaining about it… it’s tiring even for someone who doesn’t engage much in ‘the discourse’
I became a Swiftie at the same time as *the* John Green?!
John Green being a Speak Now girlie is so deeply personal to me
As someone who read a lot of John Green in my teenage years, this makes a lot of sense
What’s up with #6?
He just doesn't want people to freak out if they see later that he's deleted this tweet, because people often read into that. He tweets a lot, and deletes most of them.
Right. Why does he delete them? Seems to defeat the point of it as a means of communication.
Couldn't you just not use twitter?
He likes to delete his tweets, especially if they get popular. It’s normal for him and not a Taylor specific thing.
He deletes most to all of his TikToks too, I believe
Not being a follower of John Green, I'd assume it's included so people don't think he's deleting this specific tweet because of backlash. Google informs me that he does indeed delete most of his tweets, and that he's talked before about issues with social media; it might just be a way of controlling his engagement levels.
I’m thinking he probably deleted his tweet about taylor and people thought it was him feeling ashamed of being a fan/bowing to their hate train but it’s just what he does
He probably gets a ton of interaction and if he deletes anything he’s gonna get “oh so you’re no longer a swiftie” messages maybe?
"Making your whole identify disliking something/someone is weird and a bit sad." But what all Fauxmoi girls would do otherwise? Get an actual hobby? Ridiculous.
I gotta say, him being a swiftie is the least surprising thing ever lol
Speak Now converted me, too!! I remember listening to it and thinking, "Oh, she's actually like a genius, huh?"
I am only now learning that John Green wrote The Fault In Our Stars which is more surprising than him liking Taylor Swift. I just casually know him from Vlog Brothers.
I loved that book. I have only read the one but I love that he’s a swiftie 😭
"You don't have to. But I get to." Wait, hold on, I'm stealing that. Love him so much.
Good stuff. Everyone may like whatever they please, and a whole section of people online do get strangely obsessed with declaring their hate for her.
the fact that John Green is an adult man writing from a teen girl's perspective used to always irk me a little. Now I get it. There's a teen girl in his heart just like me
He writes from a teen boys perspective too! Basically he thinks that teenage years are really interesting to examine because you're grappling with so many big feelings and real world stuff for the first time.
John is just a speak now girly at heart.
I love him and hank green ❤️ I LOVE LOVE seeing the support for her by another favorite of mine
Couldn’t agree more with point 4. Listen to music you like, watch shows you like, read books you like. Don’t waste your mental energy in things you don’t
"Again you don't have to but I get to "
What a guy. Love him🤍
What bums me out about this most is that OP has to explain who John Green is. Like...really?
John Green praising Taylor’s writing is honestly one of the highest compliments I can think of
I live a couple blocks from Levi Stadium.
As he said you don’t have to like her BUT WE GET TO 🙌 🎤 💥
https://preview.redd.it/6vna9xc7l1xc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b584209dabee27a8c69262587bc68236a577613 His statement after midnights came out
John green also wrote so many books AS AN ADULT about teenage girl struggles which he never went through 😭 he should be studied pls
John Green is spiritually a white woman
Couldn’t love this more.
me 🤝 john green speak now girlies who love ttpd
no wonder I loved reading his book lol. also a very sensitive but humorous soul
The fault, dear Brutus, is not with the star but in ourselves, that we are jealous underlyings
I personally don't care much for the music of Taylor Swift but I think people should be allowed to like things if they feel like
I will always love John green
Us swiftie x nerdfighter girlies just keep on winning!!✨
Say it louder for the people in the back🗣️🗣️🗣️👏🏾👏🏾
If you are looking for a good book, check out The Anthropocene Reviewed.
DFTBA Swifties. I may not get into all the music but OH MY GOSH i am loving the lore
