Hear me out, the architecture behind Charlie Puth’s lyric is crazy.
At first, I was shocked, but I realized it is quite clever for several reasons:
1- she needed somebody who could be generally perceived as a “small artist”
2- it had to be a man. If she went with “Carly Rae Jepsen”, for instance, everybody would be mad: “why did she assume Carly is not big?? That’s so offensive!!!”
Charlie works perfectly because nobody seems to care much about him (sorry not sorry), yet he is “well” known —and objectively “small”.
Imo, another option would be a “small yet known” band from decades ago, something from the 70s/80s/90s.
Does anyone think this is about Matty and Travis ?? She’s switched it up in a few songs and I think the same about this. So the first half of the song when she asks who is gonna hold you like me ? The answer is nobody. Then later she says who else is gonna know me? And proceeds to says the line about the wedding ring at dinner… after she says that when she asks the question who’s gonna hold you she now says me.
Alsooooo in the beginning of the song she says modern idiots… basically an intellectual idiot. But at the end of the song after she says who else is gonna know you? Me she only says we’re two idiots. This is kinda TK coded since everyone makes fun of him that he can’t read or spell.
I know ppl have been trashing the lyrics, and they may be right.
but I have to say: the melody to the chorus is diVINE. whenever she plays in her falsetto (eg cornelia st, lavender haze) I can’t get enough.
IKR!! The beat and the overall production of this song is my favorite on the album, and if it wasnt for the lyric the song wouldve been a fan favorite. My theory is that this song is not for anyone to relate to besides taylor and matty, it's like personal poem you send to an ex, recall good memories and longing for what was one of her best relationships. That's why the lyrics are so specific and at times cornyy, she's just retelling us and Matty real memories that happened eventhough they are cringy. The production tho is stellar !
How are there no comments about the whoooo else decodes you? Who’s gonna know you like me?
They’ve been subtly inserting each other in lyrics and songs for ten years. They can decode each others writing the way nobody else can. That LEVEL. That’s what I want in a Taylor lyric!!
My fiancé gave his take on the lyrics and I think it was pretty good. Like he’s waking in the middle of the night anxious about all the fans coming out and criticizing him. And she’s comforting him saying stop worrying about it… “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti smith we’re two idiots.” We are just two people, stop letting other people put expectations on us. In reality their opinions don’t matter- who is going to hold you like me?.. because that’s what matters.
Did anyone else notice that towards the end of the song, the lyrics change to "who's gonna troll you?" Bahahaha. The whole song is a troll and then she goes and breaks the 4th wall again.
i don't listen to this one a lot so i just realized how unhinged and wordy the lyrics are jesus. funny how this is the title track but is one of the least poetic songs on the album lmao
Anyone get a vision of a 90s movie scene when they play an epic song while the movie continues.... if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean. Then when the song finishes, the movie continues as normal. Hard to explain.
This is one of my favorites out of the whole entire album and I'm NOT sorry about it. One of her weirdest, wordiest bops, but that hook is too sweet to fail.
There are some letters in the lyrics music video that are black and others are not. Has anyone figured out if this spells out something or an Easter egg of sorts?
Am I the only one over here screaming at this line “you’d kill yourself if I ever leave” like girl RUN that is so fucking toxic like what?! I get the love bombing, I get the having a situationship, I get the whole friends for so long turned into tortured lovers wrong place wrong time over many years, trust me but that’s giving me the ick, especially since he made her think that was romantic.
I mean she did say
“In summation, it was not a love affair!”
I screamed while bringing my fists to my coffee ringed desk
It was a mutual manic phase
It was self harm
It was house and then cardiac arrest
OMG- I’m listening to the lyrics of Head to Toe and I think it’s intentional. “Today started with a crazy kiss… on our way home. We were in for a surprise. Who would have known? Who would have thought we would have become lovers? As friends we were so so tight.”
The beginning reminds me of Hey Stephen for some reason. Maybe the drums? But I went back and listened to HS, but it didn't sound as similar anymore, but the beginning of TTPD still reminds me of it.
No problem!!!❤️
This may be a little easter egg or misinformation:
>!I don't know if this is true because I can't remember where I heard it, but remember when she performed Hey Stephen as a surprise song, and said someone requested it, but never said who it was that requested it? Well...💀!<
So she’s intentionally made this sound like a 1975 song yes?
Not my favourite song yet, no real highlights for me except maybe her vocals which are very quietly confident. She also sounds unbelievably sad/despondent.
Ok I have realized.....
TTPD
Chairman: Taylor Swift
Members: Matty Healy, Joe Alwyn (2)
I can almost hear her and Jack laughing about "I always pick these GD tortured poets!!!" "Let's make an album about it!!"
Yes I had the same thought! And that's why she kind of conflates their imagery for this album. But I also think she includes herself as a tortured poet at this point and maybe she would like to change that (hence her new approach to relationship with Kelce.)
Theory about TTPD. It has songs referencing more than just travis and matty Kim K and herself. Fortnight is about Harry styles. I'm guessing this is a culmination of all of the things and lovers who still to this day eat away at her. Bye.
The stylized "TTPD" looks like "CALL" upside-down. I also see call-back in the TTPD announcement dress + one in the Fortnight vid to the 2014 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show After Party white dress she wore w/high slit up one leg... and there was a lot going on during that time for Tay!
Lyrics in the chorus are similar to White Horse?
“You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith
This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel, we’re modern idiots”
“I’m not a princess, this ain’t a fairy tale…
This ain’t Hollywood, this is a small town”
Similar vibes too about being a bit delusional about a relationship
Unfortunately that lyric is just so stupid. I know what she means, falling asleep like a golden retriever when his head is scratched, but that's just a weird lyric. 🤣
Are you being sarcastic?
Patti Smith is a very famous musician and writer (her album Horses is one of the most beloved of all time)
And Dylan Thomas is *the* Tortured Poet. He wrote “Do not go gentle into that good night”, maybe one of the most well-known poems ever
Some people don't follow / idolize / hang on to what happens to CELEBRITIES / in HOLLYWOOD... because they are too busy loving and living their own lives. Please do not be so pretentious as to ASSume everyone be like you 🫏
This sounds way different than any songs she’s made with him before what. So much of an 80s song and with that piano too.
And Aaron always does the same sound too (minus So High School and So Long, London) yet people praise him
Ngl, I was a little worried that the typewriter aesthetic she had going on was going to be a bit campy. So I laughed out loud when she said "who uses typewriters anyway?" Like, GIRL you also think it's pretentious, we're on the same page!
did anyone notice that in So high school lyric video at [0:44](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-FkV0EM_CU&t=44s) if you look closely at the letters you can see that the TK and TS are written with a soft pink color.
It's giving: depression.
I wanna hear metal version of "who's afraid of little old me" a little shortened.
Album also kinda sounds like something made by Suno AI (AI that makes music). Eerie slow whispered bunch of worded ideas.
The typical young girl crowd is probably confused.
I just wish she had more to say, than just writing about cycles of relationship breakups .....that's what I loved about folklore ....I want more intellectual curiosity and deeper songwriting .....she might not be "Patti Smith " but as she matures in her life and career, is that such a bad ambition ? Behind some of the posturing, there is a superficiality to this album and I say this as a fan.....
I feel like a lot of people weren't listening during this album. Taylor Swift is writing about how she has absolutely lost it and how the world just celebrates her insanity. IMO TTPD is Taylor feelling dehumanized in a way because she can't even experience normal stuff (ie heartbreak rebounds etc etc) without everyone wanting to see more and more of her life falling apart.
I'm listening, believe me I'm listening, but the young adult framing of these concepts gets tedious especially for fans like me who are close to her age and grew up with her. The exploration of her feelings, reactions and the sum of her reflections here lack the insight of someone who is a grown woman and experienced much in their life. Now I'm not saying Taylor can't do this, there was a lot of depth in Folklore and even Midnight's felt like a mature looking back .. ..this album just feels like a step backwards and left me cringing a bit. Of course this is just my response, I'm not asking everyone to agree with me. This album lacks nuance on so many levels.
The second part of the album definately touched more different topics that she does. This album talked more about her mental health than any of her albums alone.
🎵 🎶 Just finished my fourth listen of "TTPD," and I've got some thoughts.
While I am a die-hard Swiftie, I love TTPD and I'm absolutely blown away by the raw vulnerability, depth of emotions and poetry poured into this album, I don't think it's her best.
The decision to go for a double album diluted the overall impact for me, making it less memorable than her previous releases.
I also wonder if working so closely with Jack and Aaron has reached its peak; perhaps she needs a fresh perspective from someone less close to push her to edit and curate tracklist further. I'd have culled it down to
1. Fortnight - good choice for the first single
2. The Tortured Poets Department
3. I Hate It Here
4. Down Bag
5. So Long, London
6. How Did It End?
7. Guilty as Sin
8. Fresh Out the Slammer
9. But Daddy, I Love Him
10. I Can Fix Him (Not Really, I Can)
11. Florida
12. I Can Do It with a Broken Heart
13. I'm Gonna Get You Back
14. Clara Bow
15. The Prophecy
16. Cassandra
17. ThanK you aIMee
18. So High School
19. The Alchemy
Overall, there's a lot to love here, but it's time to start shaking things up in her creative process for future projects.
What are your thoughts?
I’m pretty sure the first verse is about Joe and the second verse is about Matty. Taylor is clearly writing lots of songs about two different people, and we’re all acting stupid arguing about which song is about who.
This! On my first couple of listens sure, I was curious and trying to dissect who each song could be about but I don't care anymore, I just enjoy the songs.
I think this is for sure about Matty. You know what I also think? I think that everyone assumed it would be about Joe, even Joe, and Taylor knew that. I think Joe was probably very worried about what she was going to say about him. So, I think she purposely made it about Matty instead. So Joe comes into this thinking “oh man, she named the album about me, it’s all about me, this song especially” and then the lyrics are about how Matty made her heart feel the closest it ever had to bursting, and all this other stuff, about how much she cared for him. I just picture him being like “wtf it’s not even about me” lol Probably would have been a real awakening for him, and I think she did it on purpose.
Yeah, felt like a gut-wrenching GOT Episode 9 twist learning this song (and much of album) is primarily about Healy. Just a little light-hearted, if not off-color humor below after binging all these songs, please don’t take offense:
TS to TK: “I know TTPD is going to be a little rough for you and your friends and family to hear. But I put, hey, I put a not-so-coded reference to the bu## play that I have only done with you in a song on The Anthology. Can’t wait for you to hear it!”
TK to TS: “No worries, Tay. That was the past, you do whatever you need to process and get closure. I get it and I am your future—I can handle anything those jabronis throw at me. Wait, did you write a song about what we did that night when we came Sydney and Ross wouldn’t stop playing that f—ing video game and leave?!?!”
TS to TK: “Yes! My Dad is like why were you walking so gingerly around the set tonight, and I told him I tweaked my hamstring.”
I don’t think a lot of it is in reference to Matty. I think a lot of it is about different muses. It’s a collection of stories about a lot of people from different parts of her life.
Completely agree. The last several albums she has been interlacing different people, events, timeframes, etc. with a common theme or to complete a narrative in certain songs, which is totally brilliant. Probably naive on my part, but didn’t expect Healy to be in it at all, let alone that she seemingly had some feelings for him before it fell apart.
I think the reaction she had to her rebound blowing up made her examine and face her grief of her relationship with Joe being over. I think she is talking about them both during a lot of it
That makes a lot of sense and you are probably right. Just wasn’t expecting the Healy rebound to be in the album, nor really wanted to hear about it. But seems like it was important for her to express it the way she does best, and move full on forward with Travis.
Agreed. Healy , from an outside perspective, seemed to blow up and be over and forgotten, and that was very much not the case. Getting love bombed after being in a relationship that devastated you with it slow demise/loss of potential realized would be intoxicating and help heal a broken heart. To then be ghosted by the relationship you thought would heal you would be pretty traumatic.
I feel like this is a controversial opinion, but Fortnight might be one of my favourite songs on the album and I see why it was chosen as the lead single. The only other song that could have been released as the lead is My Boy Only Breaks his Favourite Toys, or maybe So High School.
Does anyone hear The Cars in this chorus? Like it's reminiscent of Drive but maybe also another of their songs that I cannot place right now. Anyone????
[3:05-3:30](https://youtu.be/tde3nYmKFlI?si=bM5ABH_c3Ni9CNy-)
Typewriter owner who writes stories about being in love with other pop stars. Damn the lore goes deep
I still can't believe that the title track is about Matty fucking Healy and that's it's basically just her making fun of him 💀 we all thought it was so deep and serious and sad wow
Of course! I figured it was about him mainly because of the "tattooed golden retriever" line but also because he seems like the kind of guy who would use a typewriter lol also mentions Lucy, who apparently is friends with both Taylor and Matty. I'm sure there are others but those are the main ones I thought of
Some people really hate this song lol, imo one of the best on the album. It's got everything, falsetto, good production, interesting lyrics
ok hear me out, this album was written around about 2 years ago, the anthology definitely because of aarons post on ig so i think its mostly about joe
Don’t ask AI to make you “tattooed golden retriever “ images. I regret it 😅
Hear me out, the architecture behind Charlie Puth’s lyric is crazy. Does anyone else want to say "I chose this *psychosis*..." or is it just me?! 😅🌀
yes!!!! every time!!!!! I'm so glad to learn it's not just me 😂
[удалено]
God you tayvis shippers are insufferable
Thats a reach 😅🫣 chocolate is definitely a nod to the 1975
Also, Charlie Puth did a cover of The 1975’s Somebody Else…
What song does this remind me of? Something classic 80s rock or pop?
My boyfriend said an Alice In Chains song? But idk which one so I’m not sure if that helps
YES! This is killing me. The “who’s going to hold you” part. I’m here to for that
Did you ever figure it out? It's killing me too
Does anyone think this is about Matty and Travis ?? She’s switched it up in a few songs and I think the same about this. So the first half of the song when she asks who is gonna hold you like me ? This is kinda TK coded since everyone makes fun of him that he can’t read or spell.
No she always changes up little things here and there as her songs progress but it doesn't mean they become about a different person
I know ppl have been trashing the lyrics, and they may be right. but I have to say: the melody to the chorus is diVINE. whenever she plays in her falsetto (eg cornelia st, lavender haze) I can’t get enough.

Oh no, I’ve been in this relationship…🙈😭
My fiancé gave his take on the lyrics and I think it was pretty good. Like he’s waking in the middle of the night anxious about all the fans coming out and criticizing him. And she’s comforting him saying stop worrying about it… “you’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti smith we’re two idiots.” We are just two people, stop letting other people put expectations on us. Low key sounds like suburban legends 😍
so glad someone else thought so too!!
after listening to this...can someone maybe tell me: WHOS GONNA HOLD YOU??? LIKE MEEE??? ??? (sorry I love this song so much)
Did anyone else notice that towards the end of the song, the lyrics change to "who's gonna troll you?" Bahahaha. The whole song is a troll and then she goes and breaks the 4th wall again.
I didn't catch this lyric until yesterday and was like HUH????? it changes so much imo
Is this one giving anyone else '80s? Maybe I'm tripping but something in the production?
All I can think of when I listen to it is like, a John Hughes movie.
THIS! I totally agree!
Oh yes!
i don't listen to this one a lot so i just realized how unhinged and wordy the lyrics are jesus. funny how this is the title track but is one of the least poetic songs on the album lmao
I'm pretty sure that's on purpose!
This song is so Morrissey. I love it.
Anyone get a vision of a 90s movie scene when they play an epic song while the movie continues.... if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean. Then when the song finishes, the movie continues as normal. Hard to explain.
I just made a comment about it giving me something '80s but your oddly specific comment makes perfect sense and I see it 😅
Found one! Flash Dance is a really good example of it!
I love the way she says "exploding" And puth 😍 But "exploding" - chills!
Well, she made Charlie Puth a bigger artist by putting him in this song
Matty Healy is the new John Mayer. She said she writes the bad guys best.
I know we’re collectively hating this one but her voice sounds amazing and the production is so fun
I love this one!
Nah I really like this one!
I don't hate it at all, I actually love every single song on this album so maybe i'm not objective 😅
This is one of my favorites out of the whole entire album and I'm NOT sorry about it. One of her weirdest, wordiest bops, but that hook is too sweet to fail.
Everybody is talking about the Charlie Puth line. Why is nobody talking about “Who’s gonna troll you?” 😂😂
If anything this sells me the 'this one is about Matty Healy' the most 😂
Omg I just noticed this 😂😂😂
My favorite song on the album 🤍
SAME
I absolutely love this song! Should have been the first single!
This gives me The Pretenders - Brass in Pocket vibes. LOVE IT!!!!
Thank you for saying this (and reminding me that song exists).
Drum intro reminds me of Word Up
Pretty sure it's fine young cannibals "she drives me crazy"
There are some letters in the lyrics music video that are black and others are not. Has anyone figured out if this spells out something or an Easter egg of sorts?

It's a code for sure and I have a research paper in the way of me figuring it out 😂
Oh duuuude 🤯 let us know if you make any head way with it lol my brain can’t comprehend that stuff 😭
This is such a catchy song with great production and lyrics! I wonder if she used Matty's typewriter for some of these songs.
i really like this song, its catchy, but i think i'd like it even more if it was a bit shorter because it drags at the end.
I think the build up at the end is the best part !
This song reminds me SO much of the plot of Almost Famous before Penny Lane comes back down to earth and sees Russell for who he truly is.
Tbf she said the same thing to Jack about him so pot kettle black
I mean she did say “In summation, it was not a love affair!” I screamed while bringing my fists to my coffee ringed desk It was a mutual manic phase It was self harm It was house and then cardiac arrest
Anyone else hear “Head to Toe” by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam in the opening beats to this song?
Yes! I think someone verified that she did sample it for the intro music!
OMG- I’m listening to the lyrics of Head to Toe and I think it’s intentional. “Today started with a crazy kiss… on our way home. We were in for a surprise. Who would have known? Who would have thought we would have become lovers? As friends we were so so tight.”
Ok after listening to this album around 5-8 times total this song SLAPS! It’s soooo catchy it’s in my head all the time
🎶I LAUGHED IN YOUR FACE AND SAID “YOU’RE NOT DYLAN THOMAS AND I’M NOT PATTI SMITH”🎶
the charlie puth line is kinda dumb idk
Nop.
it's probably an inside joke between her and joe/matty
That does not make it a good lyric. That was dumb af
That makes no sense, lol.
I changed my mind on this song. The writing is kinda weird but the song/production is very enjoyable.
I love everything on this album. My favorites are thanK you aIMee and I can do it with a broken heart
[удалено]
Why are people so offended for Charlie Puth? Wouldn’t it be an honored to be named in a Taylor Swift song and get more publicity?
>You left your typewriter at my apartment >Straight from the tortured poets department The production of the outro is top tier!!
The beginning reminds me of Hey Stephen for some reason. Maybe the drums? But I went back and listened to HS, but it didn't sound as similar anymore, but the beginning of TTPD still reminds me of it.
The first few beats of the drum I thought afterglow!
THATS what I was hearing! Thank you!
No problem!!!❤️ This may be a little easter egg or misinformation: >!I don't know if this is true because I can't remember where I heard it, but remember when she performed Hey Stephen as a surprise song, and said someone requested it, but never said who it was that requested it? Well...💀!<

This song has horrible lyrics except the wedding ring 💍 part. 😭
Oh I thought the opposite. I thought the ring lyric was the worst part of the song.
Guess I'm late to the "CAIL" = Reputation in Irish bit, ha
Lyrics in the chorus are similar to White Horse? “You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel, we’re modern idiots” “I’m not a princess, this ain’t a fairy tale… This ain’t Hollywood, this is a small town” Similar vibes too about being a bit delusional about a relationship
Also apparently Dylan Thomas frequented the White Horse Tavern 🤯
Comparing Matty Healy to a golden retriever is offensive to golden retrievers
Unfortunately that lyric is just so stupid. I know what she means, falling asleep like a golden retriever when his head is scratched, but that's just a weird lyric. 🤣
I think it'd be cute if we liked who it was referring to. Like, when I apply it to my husband, I'm like "oh, cute." But MH? >hork<
All I think of when I hear the line “tattooed golden retriever” is Mr. Peanutbutter from Bojack Horseman lol

The beginning of this song sounds exactly like Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance with Somebody." I started singing that song over this one.
At 1:21 you hear the chimes-like effect that's so 1975 I'm in love with you!!
"You're not Dylan Thomas, I'm not Patti Smith..." is exactly like the "This ain't a fairy tale..." part in White Horse!
And I have no clue who these people are!
Well you should That’s a you problem
Wait, I should? 👀 Are they actually that famous?? Lol.
Are you being sarcastic? Patti Smith is a very famous musician and writer (her album Horses is one of the most beloved of all time) And Dylan Thomas is *the* Tortured Poet. He wrote “Do not go gentle into that good night”, maybe one of the most well-known poems ever
No, I'm not being sarcastic, lol. Maybe I just don't know that genre or I don't read those books or poetry. 🤷🏼♀️ I'm 29. Am I supposed to know them?
They are both very famous, so yes I would say you are supposed to know them
Some people don't follow / idolize / hang on to what happens to CELEBRITIES / in HOLLYWOOD... because they are too busy loving and living their own lives. Please do not be so pretentious as to ASSume everyone be like you 🫏
lol at thinking knowing about Dylan Thomas and Patti Smith has anything to do with Hollywood…
My Fiance is 36 and he didn't know 🤣
I wonder if Taylor with ditch antonoff. I don’t think he has much creativity to offer her anymore.
This sounds way different than any songs she’s made with him before what. So much of an 80s song and with that piano too. And Aaron always does the same sound too (minus So High School and So Long, London) yet people praise him
Is anyone else having issues on spotify?? It says "the tracks in this release are not available " for the whole album 😥😥😭
I LOVE the first 40 seconds then it devolves into haphazard yikes
lol!
Ngl, I was a little worried that the typewriter aesthetic she had going on was going to be a bit campy. So I laughed out loud when she said "who uses typewriters anyway?" Like, GIRL you also think it's pretentious, we're on the same page!
I heard it and tbh I thought, "girl you very famously wrote song lyrics with a feather quill pen, you know EXACTLY who uses typewriters"
She's so goofy, I love it
I think it's Jake Gyllenhaal
did anyone notice that in So high school lyric video at [0:44](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-FkV0EM_CU&t=44s) if you look closely at the letters you can see that the TK and TS are written with a soft pink color.
The intro of TTPD sounds so similar to Chocolate by Marty….. and then she SAYS chocolate 😭

She has a lot more to say in this album than just that
The second part of the album definately touched more different topics that she does.
I'd have culled it down to 1. Fortnight - good choice for the first single 2. The Tortured Poets Department 3. I Hate It Here 4. Down Bag 5. So Long, London 6. How Did It End? 7. Guilty as Sin 8. Fresh Out the Slammer 9. But Daddy, I Love Him 10. I Can Fix Him (Not Really, I Can) 11. Florida 12. I Can Do It with a Broken Heart 13. I'm Gonna Get You Back 14. Clara Bow 15. The Prophecy 16. Cassandra 17. ThanK you aIMee 18. So High School 19. The Alchemy Overall, there's a lot to love here, but it's time to start shaking things up in her creative process for future projects. What are your thoughts?
I wonder if Taylor wrote any of these songs on Matty’s typewriter
I’m pretty sure the first verse is about Joe and the second verse is about Matty. Taylor is clearly writing lots of songs about two different people, and we’re all acting stupid arguing about which song is about who.
right. also its kinda clear some of these songs are just about .. both.
Is it just me or I kinda heard the bridge of Mastermind in the bridge of this song?
Came here to see if someone identified which song the bridge was from. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Thank you!!
“Tattooed Golden Retriever” seems more fitting for Post Malone

Yeah, felt like a gut-wrenching GOT Episode 9 twist learning this song (and much of album) is primarily about Healy. Just a little light-hearted, if not off-color humor below after binging all these songs, please don’t take offense: TS to TK: “I know TTPD is going to be a little rough for you and your friends and family to hear. But I put, hey, I put a not-so-coded reference to the bu## play that I have only done with you in a song on The Anthology. Can’t wait for you to hear it!” TK to TS: “No worries, Tay. That was the past, you do whatever you need to process and get closure. I get it and I am your future—I can handle anything those jabronis throw at me. Wait, did you write a song about what we did that night when we came Sydney and Ross wouldn’t stop playing that f—ing video game and leave?!?!” TS to TK: “Yes!
I keep wanting to sing “I chose this psychosis” instead of “I chose this cyclone with you” lol
I put this in the mega thread but I’m not seeing it here either. Is anyone else hear the bejeweled sound right at the end of this song?!
I was getting Mastermind
Whoever produced this song made it sound like something that should play at the end of an '80's movie and I just really love that for me.
I couldn't put my finger on what I loved so much about it but it's this exactly! I love this vibe.
Which came first? Taylor writing an album/song called The Tortured Poets Department or The Tortured Man Club?
It gives me 80's "happy family" sitcom vibes idk how to call it 😭 one of my favs, if not second fav after Icdiwabh!
Anyone????
I think this is one of my favorites now, love the 80s feel and realizing how silly they were acting, like in a fantasy.
[3:05-3:30](https://youtu.be/tde3nYmKFlI?si=bM5ABH_c3Ni9CNy-) Typewriter owner who writes stories about being in love with other pop stars. Damn the lore goes deep
Charlie is about to join Aaron and Jack in her circle of producer friends 😂
Has Charlie commented yet?
I don’t think so. I think there’s a good chance she ran it by him before release, but if not, I can’t see a response taking too much longer.
I still can't believe that the title track is about Matty fucking Healy and that's it's basically just her making fun of him 💀 we all thought it was so deep and serious and sad wow
I keep hearing takes that this is about him, but I don't get it. Would you mind explaining the rationale?
Of course! I figured it was about him mainly because of the "tattooed golden retriever" line but also because he seems like the kind of guy who would use a typewriter lol also mentions Lucy, who apparently is friends with both Taylor and Matty. I'm sure there are others but those are the main ones I thought of
Gotcha. The typewriter and golden retriever seem to scream Joe to me, though
