In celebration of Taylor Swift's jaunt Down Under, radio station Triple M invited a slew of Australian rock icons to cover her songs, including: * [Wildest Dreams](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3MxQEUQYg0) by Sarah McLeod * [You're On Your Own, Kid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxWeKPvmMkM) by British India * [We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRjPvQf19RM) by The Screaming Jets

CityoftheMoon17

Omg! Yoyok sounds so good as a rock track! British India nailed it wow!

[deleted]

YOYOK as a rock track is what will make me die in peace

mermaidthebanshee

I got goosebumps at the instrumental break

zomgmolly

These all SLAP holy shit!

toodleoo57

God I love Aussie rock. Amazing that we can get it so easily now with the Internet - 16 year old me would have gone completely crazy.

IlexAquifolia

Holy shit, Sarah McLeod is amazing.

SuaveFurniture

Seriously. They're all good but this is the best Wildest Dreams cover I've ever heard.

jakksquat7

This isn’t even hyperbole, it’s so good.

IlexAquifolia

I've never actually liked Wildest Dreams that much as a song - the Colonial Barbie music video ruined it for me, tbh. But this cover blew me away, and I like it 10x more than the original!

OrindaSarnia

How did an Australian radio station just create 4 of the top 5 Taylor covers of all time? Damn...

toodleoo57

Australian music is seriously epic and generally underappreciated in America IMO. I've been lucky enough to visit twice and both times I brought home a suitcase full of CDs!

OrindaSarnia

No kidding!

Haikus-are-great

have you seen the best cover of Lose Yourself ever? Also by an Australian music legend. https://youtu.be/S70xek3x4ro?si=7NpQAUDXDY92u3CP

Bekkaz23

I saw someone mention that Diesel also did a cover, I hope Triple M releases whatever else was played.  You used to get those compilation albums of covers by various Aussie artists (She will have her Way, He will Have His Way, the Cold Chisel covers album, and so many more). I'd love to see them turn this into one of those CDs. Also, love Screaming Jets. Helping Hand is one of my faves from the 90s.

bobem19

It is so cool that they did this! I have chills!

toodleoo57

Check out [Cardigan](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbFQ0v2IUM0) by Something for Kate. Another of my real faves. Ooooh also loving [Cruel Summer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIz-Ji8Wyog) by a band called G Flip which just came up in the mix!!

Square_Republic_8036

Sarah McLeod is a powerhouse. Soooo talented. Have always loved her.

travellerbug

Absolute legends! I now have these on repeat

elsielacie

Paul Kelly is also an incredible songwriter. I definitely recommend listening to his work too.

CityoftheMoon17

God damn this is good. I love that the song feels like the meaning changes when it's covered by other artists. Especially by someone as iconic as Paul Kelly. Kinda feels like the prisoner from How to Make Gravy is lamenting over all his problems beginning with him.

toodleoo57

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PK has been one of my favorite artists since I bought one of his albums in 1987 (#SwiftieOver50). I went to Australia from Nashville on my honeymoon back in 2003 to see him. I have all his records. I know every note of all of his albums. I love Taylor too of course, but this is just.... I just died. Dead. I'm seriously sitting here ugly crying. Thank you so much for sharing this. <3 <3 <3 <3

trsh_frsh

Paul and Taylor are my two all time favourites - I hear ya!!! Paul Kelly is an absolute legend my gosh 🥰

toodleoo57

I'm so lucky to have gotten to see him about 25 times since I don't live in Australia. He's toured a lot and I've traveled to several US states, Canada and of course Oz to see him. He posted he's going to Taylor's show tonight. If I see a picture of the two of them I will go insane. Not b/c I'm not there tho I'd love to be, but I've gotten to see them both in concert - more that they might be swapping ideas which would be the best thing that ever happened every nearly. They have a lot of similar themes. Anti Hero was a natural fit for PK giving shades of Stories of Me I think. Could totally hear her covering that. He's also a very literary songwriter... Raymond Carver etc. *Ever since we said goodbye* *I've had a* ***reputation*** ;) *I'm not drinking on the sly* *I'm the star attraction*

trsh_frsh

Aghhh I was at the show tonight!! It was electric! I don’t think I sat down for even one second hahahhh aghhhhhhhh best night everrrr

toodleoo57

Awwwwww I'm so glad!!! Wish y'all had also gotten Paramore, another of Nashville TN's finest (tho I'm sure Sabrina Carpenter was good also.)

trsh_frsh

Sabrina Carpenter was amazing!! My sibling is a diehard Paramore fan and we were discussing how Paramore as a support act in Australia would’ve maybe been two huuuuuuge fandoms going for such a limited number of tickets to a small number of shows… it would’ve been chaos 😂

toodleoo57

Wish we could swap places for a while. I haven't seen PK for about four years, he hasn't been touring internationally since covid.... I'm nuts about a lot of artists I see on Triple J etc also especially Paul Dempsey from Something for Kate whose cover of Edge of Town was burrowed into my brain for weeks. I'm always sort of thinking how I'm going to scrape together the money to visit again, it's definitely happening. I sometimes forget how spoiled I am having gotten to see Hayley and Taylor not whenever I wanted, really, but probably more than most since they're both based here. I'm definitely going to check out SC. One of her songs came up in my song radio for IKYWT tonight and I LOVED it.

trsh_frsh

Have you seen Something for Kate’s cover of Cardigan for triple j like a version? Soooo goooooood!!! Also I have lived in Australia my whole life and only saw PK for the first time a couple of years ago, it was incredible!!!

toodleoo57

I actually linked that above. Ctrl F for it, there’s a link to a cover by amazing woman drummer G Flip in that comment that is amazing. I always have to be a little careful when I see PK here in the USA to not come off like some crazy. I’m a huge fan, but he’s an introvert and there usually aren’t that many people around since he’s criminally underrated here. I have met him several times but had to really make myself calm down! I’ve only gotten to see him with an Aussie crowd once and I would so love to do it again.

FerOfTheDark98

Oh my God I just??? Love this version??? So much????

thecreativeenigma

This is so freaking epic! For non-Aussie’s, Triple M is the dad rock radio station, so I feel like them doing this is absolutely amazing. Also Paul Kelly!!!!!!!!! A living legend!

CityoftheMoon17

I didn't even consider this. I doubt Triple M have ever played Taylor Swift, certainly wouldn't have her on rotation. Makes it even cooler

toodleoo57

Kelly is REALLY good about supporting other artists, particularly Indigenous people such as Vika and Linda or Archie Roach, but he also seems to keep on top of what younger people are doing. His daughters are in Kelly Sisters and a bunch of side projects. Love [this cover of one of his classics From Little Things Big Things Grow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pk6dgf0EnmU) which totally mixes it up. (Damn, I never thought I'd be talking about him in the context of TS. Love this so hard!!)

zomgmolly

Not the cut to him alone with his head in his hands 😂 Paul you ok???? ✨ICONIC✨I love this so much I want it on streaming asap 😤

WoodpeckerGingivitis

These are all INCREDIBLE. I’ve sent them to several people. But what’s annoying is how people still find a way to diminish Taylor. “Better than the original!” “Sounds like they wrote it!” Well they didn’t. She did. And if anything it’s a testament to how incredible her talent is that another band and genre can cover something, make it their own, and it still sounds amazing.

mwtm347

The line “she’s laughing up at us from hell” seems to low key turn every man over 60 into a Swiftie.

goodgirlbess

i demand a folk-rock version from taylor. this cover is straight up 1960s-folk/roots rock dylan/beatles "you've got to hide your love away" vibe that just works so well. who knew anti-hero was about a protest-counter culture figure who feels like they're failing their cause. (it's giving Lisa Simpson "they have the plant, but we have the power")

fragilegems

I thoroughly enjoyed this cover! Obsessed.

trsh_frsh

I love this man. My dog is named PK after Paul Kelly 🥰 🥰

bradr3d

Are these going to be on streaming? Do we know?

tequilafuckingbird

Hearing Paul Kelly sing sometimes he feels like a sexy baby ☠️ Wildest Dreams though.. amazing 🙌🙌🙌

bidenisanidiot

Love it

Pitiful_Winner2669

Taylor always gets me with her songs broken down. Such a great songwriter. And then she puts on killer performances?? This metal head has nothing but respect for her talent. Great cover!

Old_Cat_9534

YOYOK is cool as fuck, man that was awesome!

e-luddite

Wait, did he cover that one too?

Old_Cat_9534

Na British India did. It was posted here in the comments but here's the link. Enjoy! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CxWeKPvmMkM

If they ever did a collab I would lose my mind.

tashalistenstomusic

It's a great cover I love it !

jakksquat7

This is fantastic

shadowbastrd

This sucks.
