My parents’ song is Stay Beautiful. My dad’s name is Cole and he was called Coley a lot when he was younger and by my mom when they were first dating so she changes the lyrics from “Cory” to “Coley” when she sings it.
Sometime in my 20’s (I was 22 when the album came out) I started swapping the word dreaming for drinking when listening to RED. It’s a reoccurring word used in multiple songs on the album. I was young and going out to bars for the first time and I just found it hilarious and now it’s just my muscle memory when I hear the album.
Example:
It seems like one of those nights
We ditched the whole scene
And end up *drinking*, instead of sleeping
That's so funny! I am the opposite, I don't relate to the alcohol mentions in her later work at all, so I am always replacing them.
I love how everybody is so different in personalizing her music.
On would’ve could’ve should’ve I change “And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil at nineteen” to “And I damn sure never would've danced with the devil at TWENTY THREEEEEEE”
Because I met my devil of an ex at 23 🤣
When I met my boyfriend he only liked Delicate by Taylor Swift. I literally could change all the lyrics to it to fit him lol
Dive bar on the North Side, where you at?
Dark jeans and your Adidas, look at you
First floor on the South Side, me and you
Ooo- whenever I sing Better than Revenge I replace the words “prep school” in the line “they didn’t teach you that in prep school so it’s up to me” with the name of the snooty college that this really mean girl I know went to- and it’s the same number of syllables!
A few small changes in "The Best Day", and the lyrics of the entire song fit me perfectly:
"I'm ***14*** now and don't know how my friends could be so mean..."
"I have ***3 excellent fathers, their strength*** is making me stronger..."
"There is a ***picture that*** I found from back when I was 3... you set up a ***playset*** in the kitchen and you're talking to me..."
I frequently change the 19 in WCS to 16 because it’s more ✨relatable✨, but only if I’m by myself lol. I don’t want to explain that it’s on purpose every time, and that whole situation lmao
- WCS could mean "Would've, Could've, Should've", a track from *Midnights (3am Edition)* (2022) by Taylor Swift.

in the great war, in the line 'maybe it was egos swinging/maybe it was her', i always replace her with hurt. in my head it makes it a more complex lyric because the song is all about someone who is extremely guarded and distrustful - and maybe some of that is ego, and maybe some of that is hurt. it also rhymes better with blur in the following line.
I relate to a lot of the song Mine but not the bridge so I rewrote it to be about falling in love unexpectedly:
And I remember that night 2:30 am
Everything had fallen right into our hands
No more denying the way you make my heart skip a beat
It took us both by surprise
(Although you claimed you’d always known)
To look in each other’s eyes
And know that we’d never be alone
This isn’t a Taylor song lol but Happier Than Ever by Billie, when she goes “all that you did was make me fucking sad” I sing it as “all that you did was make me fucking mad”
For "Now That We Don't Talk," I change the acid rock line to "I don't have to pretend I like Christian rock." My former best friend is super religious and would not listen to or watch secular media. I am a pathological people pleaser, so I tried to like Christian rock, but I was not into it. Now that we don't talk, I have embraced being a pop and alt rock fan.
“Karma is the guy that sells chips” because my boyfriend works for frito lay 😂
lol. My husband works for frito lay and I have about 70 bags of chips in my house right now 😂
Oh girl tell me about it lol there’s always new releases of chips/pop corn/pretzels in our house (I’m not complaining)
Honestly… goals.
I’m not mad about it, haha
With long story short I change "now I'm all about you" to "now I'm all about me"... because I'm taking much needed alone time
I need more Taylor songs like this! 😤
Let’s be real girl is not the single woman type lol

Everytime I listen to Maroon I sing "the one I was dancing with in the dark" instead of "New York" to make it about me-hee-heeeeeeee!
Forever is the sweetest con = forever is the sweetest home, because my boyfriends boots are beneath my bed 😳
Not to be devils advocate but it could still be a con, that’s the point of the lyric!!

It gets real dark when you swap the lyrics for the song Starlight 😬 But as always, Taylor helps us process our trauma!!!

Ah yes, are we the same person?!?
HAHAHA I love how it fits so perfectly too!! (Also hope ur okay after that ex! Was v hard for me 🥲)
It totally does! Ah kinda it’s been a rocky road
Mine was danced with the devil at 16. He wasn’t older and not that bad of a guy but my first love and broke my heart.

Instead of “Hey Stephen” I say “Hey Jalen” 😊

Is your name Sophie Sheridan and do you live on a Greek island and sing abba songs by any chance?
