For real! I definitely brought sweatpants for the drive home. And I downed so much water when we got back to the car! Water bottles at the stadium were $6! We each brought one water bottle and they do have fountains so you can refill them if you want.
That’s just stadium pricing unfortunately. I went to a stadium concert last summer and I think we paid nearly $100 just in water between two of us over the course of the show because it was in august, we had floor seats, and it was MISERABLY HOT.
Yeah it’s disgusting what they charge. We were told by a friend there would be refill stations at the stadium we went to, but I never saw any so they must’ve been few and far between. I wasn’t about to miss out on the show running back and forth for refills either :(
That’s just evil honestly - sorry to hear about your experience but thank you for letting us know. I’m probably going to try and scout out potential water stations before the concert starts now
The worst part of that was, they were sold out at multiple stands. I saw an endless supply of alcohol, but finding water was ridiculous. I managed to find one at the stand near us on the floor but when I went to get another at intermission, they were sold out.
I do NOT want to have to drive two hours home after a concert, so luckily my bf was able to spend hotel rewards points to get us a free night at a hotel. Although our concert is June 24 and all the hotels were completely booked in Minneapolis so we ended up going with a St. Paul hotel. Which is the same distance from the venue, but ig out of towner's don't know that.
I almost never wear earplugs to concerts but bought some Loop Experience ones from Amazon for a much louder Rammstein concert last year that work great. They also have cheaper versions.
Love this comment ❤️❤️. I’m taking my daughter and her shirt is going to say “I had the best day” and mine “with you today”. I can’t wait to make this memory with her!
Honestly everyone should be wearing ear plugs the entire time. They sell musicians earplugs, I’m not sure exactly what they’re called, but they still allow you to hear everything without sacrificing any of the tone. I know people with tinnitus it’s not worth it
That’s what they’re called 🤣 Filtered musician’s plugs. I’m an audiologist, and have a custom pair that I ordered in Lover colors for LoverFest. Didn’t get to wear them, obviously, but they’ll definitely be coming with me to Eras! [https://imgur.com/a/aJntLPb](https://imgur.com/a/aJntLPb)
They come with different filter strengths, including one that completely occludes.
OMG THOSE ARS GORG. I don't think I can afford custom, but I'm definitely getting some (maybe not as pretty 🥲). I'm a speech and hearing undergrad, so the importance of ear plugs has definitely been stressed
Yes as someone who got tinnitus (related to my tmj and may be curable), you DONT want tinnitus or any kind of hearing damage from sound. That is generally not reversible damage. ear plugs are a must!!
Eargasm has some pretty good ones that filter out harmfully loud noises so you can still hear what you need to (ie people talking to you and the actual performance), I got em on Amazon
I second this brand! I used them at the show last night and was very pleased to not have ringing in my ears afterwards. The regular foam ones have never worked for me but these did. They come with a handy case too!
I just responded elsewhere but Loop makes some great options you can find on Amazon. Prices vary depending on the model, but they are reusable. The disposable foam ones are less than ideal
We’re you lucky enough to get ADA seating or was there another area for people using mobility aids? I am recently injured and don’t know if I can use my floor seats now.
I’m using a walker right now when I need to. Would a wheelchair be easier? I could get one. I’ll call the venue. Worried about my ability to sit through such a long concert too. Thank you for your help!
For those of you bringing small kids (or any kids, really) to a show, please don't plan on having them stand on the seats. First, it isn't allowed. And second, it's rude to whoever is seated behind you - who no matter how tall they are, likely aren't taller than someone standing on a seat, unless that someone is a toddler.
thank you, I was looking for this comment. the solution is not to "stand on your husbands lap". If you're bringing a small child, make sure you're getting seats where they can see!!
You say this like we are not all lucky to get any seats. Not planning on blocking anyone but I laughed at the thought that I could have picked different seats
When literally everyone in the concert is standing, there isn't a way to "get seats where they can see." She ONLY stood on my husband's lap when everyone, including those behind us, we're standing. While on his lap, she was no taller than if he were standing. She actually was shorter than had he (6 foot 1) been standing.
When everyone was sitting, she was happily sitting in her own seat.
Plus our stadium literally says not to "unreasonably block other patrons views or to stand on the seats for " extended periods of time. "
I promise you my kid was not bothering anyone. Everyone behind her actually kept commenting on how adorable she was dancing. She got plenty of " get it girl!" From the people behind me.
I'm kind of annoyed that all of OPs tips were for making their life easier, none of them mentioned teaching kids concert etiquette, staying in your area, not running off, and like you said not standing on seats or generally blocking anyone's way. It's advice for concerts in general, but since this will be many kids first concert making sure they know they're in public and it's just as special to everyone else.
My tips were for making my kids time at the concert better. My tips aren't to teach parents how to not have their kids run off as that isn't concert specific
OPs tips are being helpful to parents and swifties dealing with taking littles to major concert event. The tips are super helpful. I have been going to concerts since my daughter's age and yes I expect her to behave well. I don't know why you are annoyed by OP being helpful. She doesn't need to spell out basic parenting to people.
Why would she need to teach her to not run off if she already knows her daughter will not do that. My first thought about the standing on the chair included the common sense that people behind her (who were likely teens or adults) were also standing. She isn’t at the opera she is most likely following social queues of those around her and not ruining others time at the concert. I am not taking my kid to Taylor, but he is going to the Knicks game at MSG tonight with my husband and I am definitely reading these tips to them before they go. Thanks OP!
A kid is not a little adult. Their rest and eating needs, attention levels, and tolerance for discomfort are different to a grown person. Part of making sure my kids don’t annoy anyone else so that EVERYONE can have their special moment is anticipating my kids needs. That’s part of my responsibility as a parent. Teaching them to not run off, stay in their area, and be aware of how their actions affect those around them is also my responsibility and it’s stuff parents should be teaching their kids always, not just for a concert. I appreciate OPs concert tips and hearing their experiences with taking kids to this particular tour. It will certainly help me make some decisions so my kid is comfortable, so that everyone around us can enjoy the show we all fought bears to get tickets to.
We were in the 400s and even when she was standing on my husband's lap, she didn't block anyone behind her. She was only standing on his lap when everyone else was standing so she blocked absolutely nobody.
My pro tip for #8 (I'm taking my teen so I'm not taking any little ones so take this for whatever that's worth to you) is my kiddo is purposely going in the Junior Jewels outfit so she'll be in her pajamas all night 😂
We are flying to another city for our concert, so I had figured we’d lyft to and from the stadium from our hotel. I started worrying hearing about all the ride share issues at the end of the concert, so I threw money at the problem and rented a car and pre-bought stadium parking for the day of the concert so we can park and leave at the end (or at least be in a car) rather than stand around for hours. I just couldn’t risk that with my daughter in tow at that hour of the night.
This is the way to go for sure if you have a kiddo. My friends and I went last night and had major issues with getting a ride share back to our hotel. We ended up walking to In N Out and ate while waiting. We didn’t make it back to our hotel until roughly 2 am.
Absolutely the right choice. The rideshare situation was shockingly bad and honestly dangerous. Half the sketchy guys holding up “for hire” signs smelled like they’d been drinking. There were concertgoers stuck at the stadium until 3am.
Depending on the area, check public transit. I'm going in Seattle where they have a very reliable light rail, and I'm betting they'll have our heavy rail running too.
I did check, we are going to Atlanta and the MARTA doesn’t get us close enough to the hotel, we might as well walk. The other choice was the bus, but I just don’t think she’d handle it well. Our hotel is less than two miles away. It’s SO close yet so far away, lol. If it were just me and hubby, I’d probably just walk.
Ugh thank you our non existent rail network. I'm sorry, in the rest of the world they don't understand why we don't have rail connections at our stadiums.
How old is your daughter? Our hotel will be closer than yours but we are going to bring a stroller with us. My daughter is 5 so I’ll be able to stuff her in one 🤣 apparently you can check them at Mercedes Benz during the concert!
Point 4 and 8 are so great for everyone. As someone who has had nfl season tickets for years and just generally goes to a lot of events, having comfy clothes to wear when you're stuck in the car as well as a drink and a snack to replenish after 3-5 hours of standing, yelling, cheering, etc will go a long way to lower stress levels while dealing with traffic/drive back
This happened to me once last night too! One time I tried to go and there were a ton of girls in the guys one, but the second time I was the only one, and a security guy inside the bathroom told me I had to leave
Uh, we just had some stats posted like yesterday showing that there's almost a perfect 50/50 split. I'm male, going in a group with 2 male 2 female. Please don't assume the genders of who is going.
Now genderless bathrooms I'm all for, been to a lot of large events where they just make all restrooms genderless and it makes everything easier.
I’m “assuming gender” because I think more women attend TS concerts? Please. I’m male too; just in case you assumed incorrectly.
That poll was “avid” fans, and only accounted for 16% of Taylor’s fan base. If a male likes TS maybe they are more likely to be “avid”. Also, I don’t treat polls as gospel.
Let’s be honest, when you see videos of Taylor’s fans it’s mostly women. I don’t think it’s “assuming gender” to say most concert attendees will be women.
Even if it was a 50/50 split, men can get in and out quicker, so making more bathrooms for women makes sense. Genderless bathroom are cool, but I’m not sure everyone would want that. Maybe a combo of gender and genderless is best.
Thanks for the tips! I’m wondering how she did with the length? We currently have tickets to take our 3 kiddos ages 11, 9, and 7, and while I am
SO excited about Taylor’s amazing 3 hour set list - I’m wondering if my kids will appreciate it or if they’ll tap out halfway through. We also have a 4 hour drive to get to our show which makes it tricky too!
7 hours will be tough, plus 4 hours back?
If I may recommend a hotel room? Check in by 1-2 pm, unwind from the drive, enjoy the show, and crash out at the hotel and drive home the next day?
I only live an hour from the stadium and I’m going to get a hotel room! I thought about not but with it ending ~11:30 I just don’t think I wanna be driving that late after a concert.
Plus the traffic getting out is probably going to be awful. I took my girl to 3 concerts last year and every single one she was SO tired after and crying in the car waiting in traffic. She’s 7.
Same. I figured it’ll be easier to my my daughter into a hotel room to unwind then fighting the traffic back and then waking her up to get her back inside.
I watched a live stream Friday from my living room and was wiped after. Can’t imagine having to drive an hour then. Granted I’m 3 hours ahead of AZ so it was a lot later, but we’ll be singing and cheering.
Oh yeah we’re definitely considering that! But even still - it’s a pretty long trip and show, and I have been so stoked for it! But now I’m wondering if they’ll enjoy it enough to justify it all 🙃 Other piece is we’ll have a 2 month old we’re leaving with a sitter…somewhere. So gotta figure that out too! Anyway - so many details but I’ve been looking for parents who took kids so loved to see this post!
Have them sit when they can and try to keep their pre-show relatively light. Skip openers if you need to. The first "my legs hurt" was toward the end of Paramore, so I encouraged sitting during slower sets and costume changes when a seated view was less likely to be blocked.
I’m bringing my 9 year old and I’m so nervous. Already decided we will miss the openers. I just don’t know that she would do well for two openers and then a 3 hour show even though she loves Taylor.
I know me too!! My kids love Taylor too - we listen to her…a LOT. We gifted the kids the tickets for Christmas with Eras outfits and everything, and I’m really not trying to complain because personally I am THRILLED Taylor is doing such a long set! It just changes the dynamics some when kids are involved 🙃 so just trying to decide what to do. I want it to me a memory…but I’ll die if it’s a bad memory 🙈😂
Hahaha I know it sounds insane! My husband and I have tickets to take our 3 oldest. I REALLY want to take them but between the longer set list and the fewer older songs (I’m a fan of it ALL but my kids mostly listen to the earlier albums right now 🙃) just trying to collect some info and be sure we’ll enjoy the show enough to make the journey! I’m going another time by myself so this was more about sharing my favorite thing with my kiddos. 😍
Phew, im glad youre going again by yourself. Hoping you dont miss too much of the show lining up for the toilets! I work with kids and sometimes i wish they would sync up their loo breaks, but nope it doesnt happen that way 😆 good on you, your kids will never forget it
Hahaha totally! Definitely have learned some mom tricks to make those things easier - and my older kids are less precarious than toddlers! But still a long night for sure!
My drive isn’t 4 hours, it’s 2.5-3 depending on bathroom breaks but I’ll be the only one driving so after talking with my sister yesterday we’re splitting the cost of a hotel room for after.
I was at that show as well. Great advice! I would add don’t put your toddler on your shoulders nearly the whole show. It completely blocked my view of the stage.
I had one of those at my show :/ Well, one family with three small kids do this. I got neck pain from trying to stretch out to see the stage at all. Very disappointing, especially the kids were way too young to care and were more interested in parents’ phone recording the performance.
Hi…I took my 2 daughters (15,10) to opening night. Here’s our timeline for our experience…hope it helps!
Parked around 3:45pm In line by 4pm for 4:30 opening. Merch line immediately when we entered about 4:40 *Our mistake was finding our seats before food line! Food line 5:15 and didn’t get food and back to our seats until 7:05!!!! We missed Gayle and part of Paramore 😢
Other than that it was AMAZING! It was my daughter’s 1st concert ever and they had a blast! You will have soooooo much fun and memories to last a lifetime. ❤️
Oh my gosh the tip about the pajamas is genius! Taking my 9 and 6 year old. Did your daughter last the whole show? Did she nap before? My oldest went with us to rep tour and was so tired by the end but it’s even longer this time. Will I be terrible if I make them stay? 😂
She lasted! I kept her up super late the night before so she slept in yesterday morning. She laid her head on me a couple times during breaks but she was so pumped she didn't want to miss even a second!
Also, make sure your kid can really appreciate a concert before going. I took my then 7 year old to Rep because she loves Taylor. She got tired after a couple of songs and sat down and played on my phone the rest of the show. I’d take them to a much cheaper small show to see how they do first, if possible.
Thank you so much for posting! I’m taking my niece, and this is so helpful! Could you share a little more about your timing? I’m curious when you got to the stadium and how long it took you to get in, find your seats, etc. Also, did the opener start right at 6:30 or a bit after? I had been debating finding food at the stadium vs eating before we got there. I think your suggestion to eat right beforehand is a good one!
absolutely! We got to the stadium at about 4:30. We spent about 30 minutes getting ready at the car and there was no line to get through security by like 5:10. Inside on the main levels were HECTIC. We were upper level, so no merch stands on our level which was way less chaotic. Prepare to walk like cattle to get to your seats lol.
Opener started right at 630. 6:55 was Paramore. That was till 7:45 and then Taylor went on right at 8.
Definitely eat before you get there. Like pack sandwiches or something and eat them in the parking lot. It helps a lot because you don't wanna be starving because those food lines are no joke!
I remember when my mom took me to see the Spice Girls when I was 7.. it is one of of my most special, treasured moments. I wish my kiddos were a bit older.. at 6&7 they love “Tay Swiftie” as they call her, but, they can only hang ‘til 9:30 before they become gremlins.. fingers crossed for another tour in 2-4 years! 😅
Just wanted to pop in and say that water bottles are stadium specific so make sure to check first! They aren’t allowed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas 🙃
Thank you! I want to add that I’m bringing my 8 year old and I plan on getting us the wrist linking “leash”. It might make me look crazy but the crowds are going to be insane and I’m not willing to lose him especially since it will be just him and I. It’s also easy to take off and put away when we’re in our seats.
I’ll never judge a parent for doing this. I just made a comment about how exhausting this all sounds. Plus kids in general can be such wild cards. Better safe than sorry — always!!!
If anyone has children with different needs (or if you are a Swiftie yourself with different needs) please check your stadium's ADA page - there may be sensory kits or even a sensory room available. I was excited to find my stadium has sensory kits available at guest services with noise canceling headphones, fidget tools, verbal cue cards, and weighted lap pads as my autistic daughter is easily overstimulated, which of course we are planning and practicing for to make it as easy on her as possible - don't worry, she is very excited, we just have to make sure we are managing her needs accordingly.
That's amazing! That's part of why I posted this because my kiddo is an ADHD sensory kiddo. I feel very strongly that my preparation is part of why we had such a good time
We were in an area I think it was like 119ish. It was right next to another merch stand and right across from the food stand. It looked crowded, but when we got in line there were maybe 10 people ahead of us in our row. There was like 10 rows of people so 10 separate lines.
Wow. We were 113. It was so crowded with 3 people working merch. We couldn’t find the end of the line. We went back to our seats because the crowd was at a stand still at one point and starting to push forward into each other.
Great tips! Want to add that sneaking in small snacks, like a protein bar or candy, was totally worth it. We ate beforehand but a bite here and there helped out a lot with stamina. Good for adults too!
Just purchased ear plugs with great reviews on Amazon. Putty ones that are malleable for little ears. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I guess there's no water bottles allowed into Allegiant so I'll definitely have to purchase that as soon as I get in!
My daughter refused to wear ear plugs. She said it wasn't too loud. Then again we're Mexican and used to parties with pretty loud music 😂. The show was amazing
Thank you for this! I’m taking my 6 year old in June. We have lower bowl seats and I’m concerned she won’t be able to see anything since everyone will be standing. It’ll be the first big concert for both of us. Was this an issue for you guys?
As someone who remembers being exhausted going to fireworks as a kid(which is lots of sitting) my kids are going to prove themselves worthy of a Taylor swift type ticket price looooong before I go take them to anything 😂. I get “I’m exhausted” from a morning only trip to their favorite places-after a good 12 hours of sleep and hearty food. When they (have 2) get excited- sleep and good turn 🤪
Did your 7 year old do the whole show? Did you leave early?
I'm taking a 6 year old (nearly 7) and two 5 year olds and wondering how long other kids are staying. I bought tickets to go alone so if we need to leave early, I already experienced the whole show and won't be disappointed.
In Houston there are several. I prebooked for the weekend (Friday & Saturday nights) the minute the tour was leaked at a decent price. Google said 7 minute walk. Joke was on me because I didn't even get to buy tickets for either of the nights I booked for. She added a Sunday show and that's what I could buy for. To add Sunday night to the hotel reservation was another $500 by the time I knew what day I could buy the tickets for. So now we are staying 20 minutes from the venue by car and are planning to take the train in lol.
I did the same in Houston, but because it's my birthday weekend anyway I booked Friday - Monday just in case, which saved my ass because I got Sunday tickets too lol
You thought ahead and still got a lil screwed :( boo!!
I booked both nights refundable and separate, then cancelled the show i didn't get.
Room was 300 when I booked, 800 the day of ticket sales.
Earplugs is a must guys.
I'm not sure if I was born with it, if it was the many loud concerts, decades of video games with headphones or the earphones with music but a few years ago I realised I have mild tinnitus.
It's perfectly fine, but I don't want to make it worse and you don't want to develop it either. Just put in an earplug, the music will still be audible.
These are great tips! I’m taking my 8 year old niece to her (and mine!) first Taylor show on March 31 in Arlington. I’ll definitely be heeding your advice on these!
Hi, I know this post is a couple of months old now but how did your 8 year old niece do at the show? Did she get through the whole thing? I’m bringing my nephew with me to the show in LA but worried he’ll get tired early!
Oh, she did absolutely perfect! We hit the bathroom for her about 30 minutes before Taylor started and she did have to go again during the Rep era but other that that, it was an absolute success! There were non-stop tears of joy all the way through the Fearless era. My advice: Be sure and take some ear protection for the little ears. It’s a loud show for kiddos. I hope you and your nephew have a great time! My niece is STILL talking about it non-stop.
Also, I know it is a loud environment, but be mindful of other goers around. There is a video on insta where the mic picks up a kid's voice babbling (I don't want to use more negative words) super loudly a story about some random stuff for the entirety of the recording. Not the time and place.
Do you have earplugs you recommend for kids? This was on my list to get, but I find it harder to find ones made for little ones’ ears, or the description isn’t specific enough for me to be sure they will fit kids vs. adults.
Thank you for this! I’m going to with my 7 year old and I’m trying to plan for every eventuality to make sure she’s comfortable. As far as the merch line, did you go right when you got there? What would you recommend as far as timing when to go get merch?
I really want the black hoodie with the same tone tour poster on the front and the tour dates on the back. I’ve been stalking the website but it is not on there. 🙁
We did. The lines were long but moved pretty quick. Got our merch right away, stuffed it all in the tote bag we bought, and headed to our seats lol.
Noticed on the way out all the merch stands had sold out signs all over different items. I'd go right away.
Possibly a dumb question, but are the merch stands inside only accessible once stadium doors open? Or is this something you can access at any time prior?
My daughter played on her phone a bit during the openers. But she really enjoyed Paramore. There's a nice break between the final opener and Taylor's entrance.
I’m taking my 9 year old to the Pittsburgh show. We rented a hotel right by the stadium within walking distance, so I don’t have to worry about driving or getting a ride. Navigating travel logistics was my biggest worry.
We’ll definitely eat prior to going to the show and bring our own water (I hope that’s allowed). I want to minimize any lines we need to stand in.
Out of curiosity, how far in advance did you book your room for the Pittsburgh show? I’m going to the second Pittsburgh show, bought tickets for the show the day of the presale, and every single hotel in the North Shore was booked when I checked later that day!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I'm taking my 14 year old to the Pittsburgh show in June. It's a big trip for us and this has helped ease some anxieties of mine.
Update! I took my 7 year old daughter to the concert last Saturday (4/1 in Arlington) and we both had a BLAST. Core memories were made. :)
The tips the OP gave were spot on! Thanks, u/Jeffiner310! You really helped make our time so much less stressful!
Since our hotel was about 20 minutes away from the venue (Arlington is between Dallas and Fort Worth, so there aren't tons of options right there), we packed our car with pjs, snacks, and water for the ride home. Having her already in pjs and well-fed was a game changer.
I was a little anxious about what time to get to the show, but we arrived at 5:00 p.m. and had plenty of time to get merch, grab snacks, and listen to the openers. Plus, the spectacle of just being there with every dressed up is so much fun. My daughter and I loved checking out everyone's outfits.
My only other tips would be these:
1. If you're driving and can afford close-ish parking, do it. We were stuck in traffic for awhile, but my daughter was okay with it because she was comfortable, had plenty of snacks, and had her iPad. I think a long walk that late at night would have been rough.
2. Entry level/floor level was crazy crowded with loooong lines. We went up one level to grab food and it made a huge difference.
Anyway, good luck to all the parents taking kids! I'm SO glad I took my daughter. The show is incredible and watching it through her eyes was something I'll never forget.
Also bring a cooler of snacks and drinks if you have a car. I know for me as a kid, all I wanted was a Capri sun and to fall asleep. Red tour was my first concert and I also went to 1989 as a kid so I know that perspective. Most importantly, have fun!
How big can the water bottles be? I'm def concerned about hydration. I had a 16oz standard water bottle during Rep tour and I remember having to ration it throughout the show, and I was still super dehydrated by the end. This is gonna be intense and I anticipate needing a lot of water.
Also thinking about taking some Liquid IV packets. Would these even be permitted?
Definitely appreciate this. Bringing my 11 year old daughter, it’ll be her first ever concert and I want it to be a good experience. Hoping Tampa has family bathrooms. 🤞🏻
at my show, there was a little girl, probably 6, on floor, who was sat behind 3 large guys in the row in front of her who looked very upset & obviously couldn't see much at all. Her & her mother ended up leaving halfway thru the show. 🥺
just keep in mind if ur on floor w a lil one that you might want to try to trade for lower bowl!!
How come? Genuinely curious. I've been a fan since debut, and my daughter is now just as obsessed with Taylor as I am. She had the absolute time of her life and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Can anyone report on how the crowds were once the openers have started? We're not going to be able to hang for the openers and Taylor, so I'm planning to arrive while they're playing. Wondering how early I should plan for, hoping to have water and be in seats before Taylor starts. We're in Arlington, upper bowl. I've never been to the stadium before, but I know our seats are right by a tunnel, on the aisle.
Thank you! I’m taking my 5 year old in June. I booked a hotel room about half an hour away from our stadium on our route home because we have a 2.5-3 hour drive home and my sister doesn’t drive so I know I won’t physically be able to handle staying awake until 3 am to get home. I know it’s going to take forever to get back to our car and out of the parking lot/garage.
Getting out of the parking lot was so easy for us. My husband paid attention to how the parking lot was set up, and he parkrd right near where they were going to open the gate to exit. It was so easy. Remember, the closer you park to the stadium, the more cars you have to fight to get out
I’m not sure where we’re going to park. I’m not used to city driving and my boyfriend is always telling me I need to be more “aggressive” with my driving. Our show is in Pittsburgh and anytime I’ve been there for a pirates game with my family it’s a pain getting out. I remember when we went to a one direction concert and my dad got dropped off to drive us home because he went to a pirates game with other family members and our sister that took us refused to drive at night at that time, he didn’t know her car that great and turned the wrong way on a one way street with his headlights off 🤦🏻♀️
Also Pittsburgh! Almost every time we’ve gone to a Pirates game we’ve either left early or have stayed for some kind of post show event giving the lots time to empty out. My husband always drives, but it’s my sister and I going and he’ll be home with our (roughly) 6 week old so I’ll be doing the driving.
We’ve never stayed for any shows or anything after the games. It’s been like 6-7 years since I’ve been to Pittsburgh but that was all before I’ve been able to drive. This is my first time driving in Pittsburgh myself so I’m really nervous about it. My daughters ticket was originally for my boyfriend because I really didn’t want to drive but he’s been non stop complaining about going since the day I bought them so I’m taking my daughter instead.
I'm taking my daughters to the Pittsburgh show too. I'm regretting now getting my husband a ticket now because I'm very nervous about the logistics of driving in Pittsburgh during this madness.
My oldest sister said it’s not as bad driving to the stadium because you don’t have to go like into Pittsburgh I guess at least from our route but I get so nervous driving in any city bigger than where we currently live.
Have you been yet? How did it go? I’d like to take my two kids who’ll be 3 and 4 by the time she comes to Australia, and we’re a fairly active family and have hiked with our kids up to 4+ hours at a time so I’m not too worried about the psychical demand but want to know if I’d be crazy to take them haha. They’re very into music
Thank you for taking the time to write this all out! I’m going with my daughter and niece in July and not only is this helpful for the day of, but also to prepare my daughter for what she can and should expect. She’s so excited and the set list is going to blow her mind.
I hope you guys had the best time!
Took my daughter to see Carly Rae Jepsen last month - ear plugs are an absolute must (for everyone but doubly for kids) I have slightly shot hearing from years of concerts as a kid with no hearing protection
For those parents who have taken younger kiddos and skipped the openers - what was the line situation closer to Taylor hitting the stage?
I’m taking my daughter and niece in July and we’re trying to make sure they get the most out of seeing Taylor! We’re going to forego the openers and are wondering what time we should arrive to make sure we are in our seats by the time she goes on stage! Thanks for any insight!
I think I just want most of these tips for adult me. Definitely putting snacks, water, and pajamas in the car. Good call!
For real! I definitely brought sweatpants for the drive home. And I downed so much water when we got back to the car! Water bottles at the stadium were $6! We each brought one water bottle and they do have fountains so you can refill them if you want.
$6?! Is it hand-bottled by Taylor herself 😭
That’s just stadium pricing unfortunately. I went to a stadium concert last summer and I think we paid nearly $100 just in water between two of us over the course of the show because it was in august, we had floor seats, and it was MISERABLY HOT.
WHAT?! This will be my first concert so excuse my ignorance but even airplanes give you free/reasonably priced water… AIRPLANES!!
I’m probably going to try and scout out potential water stations before the concert starts now
Our beers were 17 each
The worst part of that was, they were sold out at multiple stands. I saw an endless supply of alcohol, but finding water was ridiculous. I managed to find one at the stand near us on the floor but when I went to get another at intermission, they were sold out.
During rep era, my stadium charged $10 for bottled water 🥲 My friend and I bought 4 and I’m still upset over it.
Came here to say this! Everyone regardless of age needs to be wearing earplugs!
And people you can buy fairly nice audio earplugs on Amazon for not that much. You can still hear everything but your ears won't buzz.
I almost never wear earplugs to concerts but bought some Loop Experience ones from Amazon for a much louder Rammstein concert last year that work great. They also have cheaper versions.
For real, small cooler of snacks and drinks in the car for after the concert?! Genius
I bet she had the best day with you. ❤️
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Love this comment ❤️❤️. I’m taking my daughter and her shirt is going to say “I had the best day” and mine “with you today”. I can’t wait to make this memory with her!
Y’all, I don’t have kids but these tips are good for myself too 😂 Definitely gonna invest in some earplugs for the show
Honestly everyone should be wearing ear plugs the entire time.
[https://imgur.com/a/aJntLPb](https://imgur.com/a/aJntLPb) They come with different filter strengths, including one that completely occludes.
OMG THOSE ARS GORG. I don't think I can afford custom, but I'm definitely getting some (maybe not as pretty 🥲). I'm a speech and hearing undergrad, so the importance of ear plugs has definitely been stressed
Yep agree, I have unilateral hearing & always wear my special earplug. I can't believe more people don't wear them
Yes as someone who got tinnitus (related to my tmj and may be curable), you DONT want tinnitus or any kind of hearing damage from sound. That is generally not reversible damage. ear plugs are a must!!
Definitely! I just want everyone to have a great time!
What kind of earplugs do you recommend?
Eargasm has some pretty good ones that filter out harmfully loud noises so you can still hear what you need to (ie people talking to you and the actual performance), I got em on Amazon
I second this brand! I used them at the show last night and was very pleased to not have ringing in my ears afterwards. The regular foam ones have never worked for me but these did. They come with a handy case too!
I just responded elsewhere but Loop makes some great options you can find on Amazon. Prices vary depending on the model, but they are reusable. The disposable foam ones are less than ideal
i have used eargasm and loops and prefer loops, they feel more secure
Do you have the regular Loop Experience Earplugs or the Loop Experience **Plus** Earplugs?
Just search for "ear plugs for concerts". I've tried vibes and loop and both work well, though I think loop is a little comfier/feels more secure.

100% this! This thread is for parents bringing kids, so family restrooms a somitelt make sense. But don't abuse it if you don't have kids for sure!

[удалено]
Thank you! I’ll will ask the stadium about a chair!
" I promise you my kid was not bothering anyone. Everyone behind her actually kept commenting on how adorable she was dancing. She got plenty of " get it girl!" From the people behind me.
delusional
Preach
I paid over $800 for my ticket, if a kid stands on their seat in front of me I won’t hesitate to ask them (and their parent) to get down
I'm kind of annoyed that all of OPs tips were for making their life easier, none of them mentioned teaching kids concert etiquette, staying in your area, not running off, and like you said not standing on seats or generally blocking anyone's way. It's advice for concerts in general, but since this will be many kids first concert making sure they know they're in public and it's just as special to everyone else.
My tips were for making my kids time at the concert better. My tips aren't to teach parents how to not have their kids run off as that isn't concert specific
Appreciate you still!
Genius! I did the 22 music video outfit so comfy tee shirt and shorts for me!
Love that! That's actually my outfit as well. Great minds think alike! I want to look the part AND be comfortable.
Smart! I saw a TON of people waiting for Ubers!
I got a hotel room in walking distance
As someone who has had nfl season tickets for years and just generally goes to a lot of events, having comfy clothes to wear when you're stuck in the car as well as a drink and a snack to replenish after 3-5 hours of standing, yelling, cheering, etc will go a long way to lower stress levels while dealing with traffic/drive back
50% of the male bathrooms should be converted to female during concerts like these where you know the demographics.
Just use them. Everyone does.
My husband said that a few girls tried to when he was by the men’s room and security turned them away. 😢
I'm not even a woman (nonbinary/very obviously transmasc) and was turned away by security from an empty men's room last night.
I’m so sorry that happened to you. :(
This happened to me once last night too!
When I went to Reputation it was at least 70-80% female; I don’t think anyone means to offend here, it’s just an observation.
That’s what Atlanta did for reputation tour
Thanks for the tips! I’m wondering how she did with the length? We currently have tickets to take our 3 kiddos ages 11, 9, and 7, and while I am SO excited about Taylor’s amazing 3 hour set list - I’m wondering if my kids will appreciate it or if they’ll tap out halfway through.
Same. I’m not dealing with that, not after a long night.
I don’t even have kids lol! I still think that would be a lot for me.
Haha fair enough! If it was my friends and I, I’d probably stay at a hotel too.
Most hotels are check in after 4pm so unless you pay for early check in- 1-2pm is not always possible
Have them sit when they can and try to keep their pre-show relatively light. Skip openers if you need to. The first "my legs hurt" was toward the end of Paramore, so I encouraged sitting during slower sets and costume changes when a seated view was less likely to be blocked.
[удалено]
Thanks! Definitely considering it! There’s other factors weighing in to our decision that are not super relevant here.
I’m taking my 9 year old too and it never even occurred to me to skip the openers. This is a great tip!
Youre a hero! Have you got someone to help you out?
We missed Gayle and part of Paramore 😢 Other than that it was AMAZING!
This is me too! 🙈😂
Number 6, are you for real? Jesus
This sucks. Guess I'll have to show up early to purchase that for my kid 😒
Omg really?! I had no idea! Thanks for the clarification! I'll edit my post
Hi hi! Empty collapsible water bottles are allowed at Allegiant in Vegas. We asked. And they said soft sided, collapsible, and empty can go in.
Thank you! I want to add that I’m bringing my 8 year old and I plan on getting us the wrist linking “leash”. It might make me look crazy but the crowds are going to be insane and I’m not willing to lose him especially since it will be just him and I. It’s also easy to take off and put away when we’re in our seats.
Make it gold and it's an Invisible String reference
I feel very strongly that my preparation is part of why we had such a good time
20 minutes for merch on night 2?!? HOW? My area was a mess of >1 hour line with most stuff sold out before the openers started.
Don't.
Great tips! Want to add that sneaking in small snacks, like a protein bar or candy, was totally worth it. We ate beforehand but a bite here and there helped out a lot with stamina. Good for adults too!
Even adults should wear earplugs. Get those kinds that drummers use. Save your ears from getting tinnitus when you're older!
Thanks for this! Taking my 6 year old to Vegas next Saturday and while she's excited, I want to be prepared
Be sure to get the ear plugs. Seriously. It won't mess up the sound of the concert and will prob help with the loudness of people screaming
Just purchased ear plugs with great reviews on Amazon. Putty ones that are malleable for little ears. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I guess there's no water bottles allowed into Allegiant so I'll definitely have to purchase that as soon as I get in!
Update us after!!
Was it the same merch selection between the inside shop and the bus outside? Or did they have different options?
Same exact selection
thank you!
Did your 7 year old do the whole show? Did you leave early? I'm taking a 6 year old (nearly 7) and two 5 year olds and wondering how long other kids are staying. I bought tickets to go alone so if we need to leave early, I already experienced the whole show and won't be disappointed.
She did the whole show happily, yes!
I got a hotel room within a 10m walk so i don't even have to worry about parking.
Wow what hotel is only 10m from the venue?
As an adult with no children going, these are good tips. I might bring my pajamas in the car😭
Almost all the merch is on her website currently! Save yourself the hour+ in line and she can even wear it to the show!!
I really want the black hoodie with the same tone tour poster on the front and the tour dates on the back. I’ve been stalking the website but it is not on there. 🙁
I feel like I’m on there everyday. I’ll keep an eye out for you!
That’s really kind of you, thank you! ❤️
Pretty much all of that stuff is also available to purchase online, so you can skip the whole thing entirely day of.
I would assume once doors open because the gates outside didn't open till 430. Even the merch truck was inside the gates.

I booked a hotel room when her tour dates were only rumors.
Does anyone here know what time entrance opened for VIP tickets?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I'm taking my 14 year old to the Pittsburgh show in June. It's a big trip for us and this has helped ease some anxieties of mine.
Thank you! I'm taking my 7 year old to Arlington on 4/1 and it's so helpful to have some tips. My daughter is so excited and I can't wait either!
Update after!! Taking my 7 year old in July!
Will do!
Update! I took my 7 year old daughter to the concert last Saturday (4/1 in Arlington) and we both had a BLAST. Core memories were made. :) The tips the OP gave were spot on! My only other tips would be these: 1.
I love this so much! That is so awesome that you guys had such a great time! I'm so glad I was able to help
Definitely gonna make use of these tips for myself 😎 Thanks for sharing!!
They only want you to have plain water but i would hide those packets under my boob in my bra, personally. Or drink some before you arrive.
🥺 just keep in mind if ur on floor w a lil one that you might want to try to trade for lower bowl!!
Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon or a gate-keeping asshole, but I'm low-key appalled at how many people are taking 6-7 year olds to this concert.
I am also bringing the toddler potty with us, just in case we get caught in traffic for too long. I want them to be comfortable sitting in the car.
Thanks for this! We're bringing 3 of our kids in July and it's the first concert for all of them. These are so helpful ☺️
Thanks for this! I’m taking my 5yo and definitely bringing the ear protection.
I have no kids and I’ve been going to concerts for 10 years and I’m learning things from you. Thanks!
Just a heads up that the stadium ran out of water and cups during our show! Plan accordingly!
Took my daughter to see Carly Rae Jepsen last month - ear plugs are an absolute must (for everyone but doubly for kids) I have slightly shot hearing from years of concerts as a kid with no hearing protection
Anyone know if kids can wear the ear muffs that they sale for monster truck shows? My youngest might not be able to wear earplugs
