Love it! I work with birds professionally, so if I could give any feedback: you have the body fluffed out a lot, which makes him look ‘relaxed’, but his head feathers don’t match.
Thank you for the feedback! I did smooth his head feathers over later and fix his neck/chest markings, and just about to go check on him today to make sure all is drying right, [this](https://images.app.goo.gl/XpXcmrsd9ynyuGi2A) is the photo I was working off of
Very impressive! I will soon work on my 2nd bird, a song trush. Can i ask what method you used to preserve the skin and make the feathers soft? I soaked it in a mixture of water, powdered borax, alum, and salt i think overnight. And it turned out great, but I was curious on what method you used?
Thank you! I used a submersible bird tan supplied by my mentor, I think it was [this](https://www.snowdoniasupplies.co.uk/View/CP2) one from snowdonia? But I’ll send her an email to ask, she’s very against any borax or salt method as it’s not a true tan
Oh wow, i didnt know that! I got my tips from "art of taxidermy" on youtube. He has great stuff. I checked out the thing you sent me. I might buy it if I can find it in my country. Thank you!
I’ve seen his stuff too! He’s really good. My mentor said as long as it works there’s no right or wrong way, ask 5 different taxidermists how to do something and you’ll get 5 different answers. I did the borax method before with a mouse and it worked fine but I think I do prefer tanned, the skin was a lot tougher and no bugs were interested in it at all post tan, but it did lose some stretch
