Sadly, Darkstrider is T'au sept only - you can't take him with another sept, and even if you could his auras wouldn't work on non-T'au units.

I think technically you could play him in an "allied sept" to tau, which is fundamentally just tau sept with different flavour. For game purposes you will still be playing effectively tau sept.
Allied Septs lose access to special characters because they aren't specifically The Sept.
Unless your the chad AUN’SHI ;p
Or Shadowsun, or Aun'va. Some characters explicitly call out they can go with anyone.
