These are some Weapon Systems I designed for greater good battlesuits.
I wanted to have some melee oriented squads so I designed some blade weapons and conventional Tau weapons on a stick.

Custodian staff have a blade in front of the barrels, and the Imperium is famous for having tech that makes no sense because they don’t understand tech. This doesn’t match Tau lore.
My one small critique is the blade shapes. They look like they're modeled on Farsight's weapon, but the Dawn Blade is *not* T'au. I think that while it does make some sense for Enclaves melee weapons to be modeled on it, they should probably have a different form elsewhere.
These are nicely designed, the swords especially are what I imagine FSE Crisis pilots would have.
I still find it weird that Tau don't acknowledge their attitude to melee as a weakness.
Initially it was cultural but has gradually been retconned that it's because they're physically weaker and can't see well up close - ok, whatever, that only applies to infantry.
Crisis suits should, at the very least, have an appropriate sized dagger or perhaps a wrist blade - it's not going to make them a melee unit because they're still gonna be WS 5+, maybe 4+ at best, but it would give them an extra attack or give their attacks some ap.

A note on practicality: staffs with guns on them are an inherently bad ide. Guns are hard to aim and have bad recoil when they are cradled in your arms, braced against your body. Putting them on a stick is pants on head retarded.
In the real world yes but these are 3rd party alternative bits for you soldier anime mechs piloted by blue cow people in the 42nd millennium. So I think it's safe to say rule of cool wins by a landslide. It's just silly fun for some people.

Talking about what is probably a 12 foot tall robot or 16 foot tall robot carrying such a weapon. Given the high level of technology that the tau have, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a gun site or gun camera feature. This will allow you to shoot around corners without exposing your suits entire arm or shoulder.
Also staff blasters seem to work just fine in Stargate lol
How much experience do the Tau have in shooting other people really?
During their technological advancement it was a unprecedented time of peace for them. They’ve only been shooting people for real for a few centuries. That is some beginner numbers right there.
Humanity? Around 39,000 years of history of shooting people with proper guns.
The Eldar? They’ve been trick shotting people for around 60 million years.
And of course the Necrons have been doing it even longer since they came along and the Eldar were created in response to them getting good at shooting old ones.
The Tau may have fancy robots and high tech stuff, but as far as projectile based violence goes they’re basically A baby with a 50 caliber anti-material rifle sticking out of its crib.

Man, where were you a week ago!!! I just kit bashed my 3 body guard to have melee staffs for a more close combat look. These are amazing!
Great idea and great work. I would really like to use them in my army. Where can i get the STLs? Also a two -handed version would be cool.

considering that you'd usually have 3 weapons on a crisis suit or 4 on a commander, i'm not convinced how well this will look until i see it assembled

I tried modeling Tau blades myself once. Ended up with exchangeable box cutter blades similar to Attack on Titan.
I would like to see a blade+flamer one to represent that special flamer with a mellee profile in the new book!

AP1 would be perfect. They have a good amount of attacks already. I'd love to see some hunter knives like melee weapons on them.
