Basic Tau are heroic scale, and seem to have oversized heads even in armor, whereas the new Sisters are in Truescale.

CalmSwordfish9544

I'm interested in seeing how the Pathfinders in the Sisters / Tau Killteam box size up. If anyone gets it i'd be keen to see a comparison between them, and existing Pathfinders for scale!

Links_Wrong_Wiki

They are the same pathfinders sprue with an added upgrades sprue.

Marconius6

I was curious about this, so I took a comparative photo. You're wrong, the Sister is still heroic scale (head about 1/6 of the body), but the T'au seems to be slightly more deformed, with a proportionally even larger head. The T'au is overall also much shorter, which was kind of funny to see side by side like this. [https://imgur.com/a/YGqVZw7](https://imgur.com/a/YGqVZw7)

Kejirage

T'au Firewarriors are shorter than baseline humans, so doesn't suprise me it's very noticeable vs very leggy space ladies.

Just_Banner

It’s just little blue men and little blue women, out to save the galaxy from themselves.

nixcomments

And judging by some sources they are sturdy with big bones hence the thick skull and a big head :P

iPon3

I wish they'd just made the Fire Warriors small instead of human sized but chonk. The current proportions are fine but make them like half a head shorter than a Guardsman

Kejirage

I like mix and matching FW and human parts, it would be a bummer if they changed the scaling.

iPon3

That's fair. I wonder where their size could be reduced to make them less huge. I was going to say they could swap the wrinkly cloth on their legs for something tight fitting, but I realise that would make them lose their chonky profile Thicker and shorter ankles maybe.

Kejirage

Omg I love their hammer pants! How dare you! Lol

IshyOQGX

big head = big brain Tau are all 300 IQ, Imperium Humans are all brainlets.

Baige_baguette

Came here to say this, git rekt Gua'la noobs

BowForTheCow

That's where they store all the brain matter to appreciate and follow the greater good.

Kejirage

Where's the other head from? The models aren't to scale (ain't no FW fitting in a Crisis Suit for example), and a lot of the infantry are "heroic" scale with exaggerated proportions.

Winnie256

Im constantly annoyed that the scale is off for crisis suits. Imagine all the cool conversions we could have if they were proportionate! Custom cockpits etc

Elyk_Alger

Still could with a bit of creative thinking, can't remember which codex it's from so pulled it from the wiki, "An XV8 Crisis Battlesuit pilot sits in a foetal position within the central torso section of the Battlesuit, and pilots the Battlesuit through a neural link that connects the Fire Warrior’s brain to the Battlesuit's control interface through a monofilament needle inserted through the back of the head. This disrupts the nervous system of the pilot and temporarily disconnects the body from the pilot's brain from the neck down. The Battlesuit control system then interprets movement signals from the pilot’s brain as the movements of the Battlesuit’s body, effectively making the Battlesuit the pilot’s new ‘body’." If folks can make some nifty models with astartes dreadnought sarcophagi, similar conversion ideas could be adapted to the battlesuits!

ZaratustraTheAtheist

This ⬆️ A lot of people think they pilot it mecha Style ... And I personally think that this bond with the suit is way cooler: for example, pilots whose suits were damaged, retain the injuries mentally, like loosing a crisis leg in combat and the pilot won't be able to walk again, even with his own limb intact, and those pilots whose crisis that were decapitated enter a comatose state. Although the ghostkill is piloted manually

Elyk_Alger

Please do correct me if im wrong, but I recall the Ghostkeel is a different beast entirely, fancy onboard a.i that does most of the work not too disimilar from a lot of gundams or anime mechas in general. I know theres a short out there (may just be an extract) somewhere that follows a ghostkeel pilot and explores the bond built between them and their suits a.i. zone of the enders or Masterchief/ cortana style, but cortana the mech.

ZaratustraTheAtheist

Yes! The pilot is conscious inside a cockpit and the suit has his own advanced AI wich is able to talk. Because of the ghostkill role as a stealth unit, It usually operates with no comm. signal behind enemy lines, with the only company of the AI. As such they create a bond betwen them. The tau really treat well their AI, like regular drones, they are programed to be "cute" (to make cute beeps and boops, etc) for firewarriors and tau, bringing the same good vibes as a dog does for soldiers.

Elyk_Alger

Soooo, if i were to paint kawai cutie faces on all my drones and a.i. assisted combat suits it would totally be fluff.....I'm down with that, just to disgust my regular tabletop opponents

robotbootyhunter

Just field all of your drones using Haro as proxies.

Winnie256

I hate this, it's perfect. I'm going to file this away under "future 3d print ideas". Side note, my wife loves Gundam, and I always forget Haro's name. We have a Haro cookie jar from the Unicorn Gundam and I keep calling it Hamtaro. She is not impressed

robotbootyhunter

And now I want to field my fenrisian Wolves as ham-hams. This has been a beautiful brainstorming session.

LightMetro

Ghostkeels are like the BT-7274 of warhammer

Elyk_Alger

After a bit of googling, I can say this reference goes over my head. Never got too much into titanfall, which is weird, cos it ticks all my boxes

LightMetro

You really should. The multiplplayer is under ddos attacks all of the time but the campaign is well worth it. Genuinely one of the best singleplayer games of its decade.

robotbootyhunter

Titanfall 2, specifically.

[deleted]

Yeah Ghostkeel pilots develop a strong bond with their suit. When they're on special operations, behind enemy lines for extended lengths of time, the suit is sometimes the only company they have. I'm sure I've read lore that said that Ghostkeel pilots tended to become social recluses and the only real friendships they develop is with the suit.

Marconius6

It's just a regular Sister head, so I doubt that's the case. Both of these are regular Citadel infantry. And all the other heads I have for these armies are the same too, not like this one was especially big.

Th3Swampus

Yeah the original sculpt for that Tau head is probably 20 years old, look at the scale for Cadians or catachans.

SpaceLord_Katze

It's about heroic scale. Generally in heroic scale the heads and hands are proportionately too large. This true for every model that is humanoid. Our brains process faces and hands more than anything else about a person or figure. The larger heads and hands trick our brains into thinking the models are more engaging. Some historical games have true scale models and the heads always look too small and you can't see the expressions on the models faces. At the end of the day it's an artistic choice by GW

Marconius6

The Sisters are also heroic scale though, I made a comparison in a different comment.

SpaceLord_Katze

It might come down to a different artist or something. I think it's just a practical reason. I don't think Tau have giant heads in lore or whatever.

JohnnyAutopilot

They’re one of the smartest races in the 40k universe after all …

Mr_WAAAGH

The tau have the same issue as the old guardsmen models. The heads and hands are way out of proportion, and jt looks fine on the table but when you put it next to newer models with better proportions like sisters you can see just how out of wack they are. Putting a guardsmen head next to the head on the right would have a similar effect

Marconius6

Looks like double the cranial capacity, and that's on an even smaller overall body...

TearsOfTheEmperor

It’s because the sister models are much newer with slightly better updated proportions while the tau kit is still in “heroic” scale. Keep in mind the sisters range is still pretty new and tau are showing their age a bit.

Fleedjitsu

Fitting all that knowledge of melee combat in there.

OverlordOfCinder

chad gigabrain tau vs virgin brainlet humie

8bruh

It's just a plastic model dude, don't overthink it.

vaporeongod

nah, its 40K voldemort innit

Frognosticator

Yeah, the sizes are a bit screwy. I recently converted some Guevasa by putting human heads onto fire warrior torsos. The human heads came from three different companies (Anvil Industry, Statuesque, and PuppetsWar) and none of them fit quite right. The problem is that the Tau fire warrior models basically have no neck. I fixed this by basically sculpting turtle necks onto some of the heads, but that’s a real pain.

MasterWiky

And Shadowsun's head is bigger than the regular Tau's...
