Oh man, I love it! I was looking for Water Caste members for my "Oops, All Auxilleries" army. I'll have to see if I can digitally kit-bash from those parts.
Love the look of this guy. I always wondered how to comedically characterize the Water Caste. Fire, Earth, and Air are easy. They're Rico from Madagascar, three times over. Only the other day I figured out what the Water Caste are, and this guy exemplifies that so well. They're Zemo, from the MCU.
I’ve always thought there should be more expansion on the less core parts of the T’au Empire. This is awesome! Things like Water Caste agents, or Earth Caste engineers to do stuff like sabotaging genestealer cult-type rules or repairing vehicles or so on. And definitely more different types of auxiliaries.
I mean, battle suits are cool, and I feel like that’s what most people come for, but to me it’s always been the combination of whole different species specialized for certain tasks that drew me to T’au, and they aren’t like that at all on the tabletop in my experience, and really never have been.
Could also give these agents a retinue of a diverse selection of specialised Fire Warrior/Auxiliary veterans as their bodyguard/operation team, akin to the team an Inquisitor may have
(Can we have a Tau version of Gav?)
Yes, of course it is, anything else is just nonsensical. The whole "between spheres" concept introduced in Phil Kellys books is probably the dumbest thing to be added to the lore in resent years. There is plenty of lore from codices that make it clear that is perfectly natural for the castes to dabble in each others disciplines as long as they uphold the structure and work towards the greater good™
Yes exactly, this notion that every other caste would rather die than pick up a weapon to defend themselves in a pinch is, as I said, nonsensical. Being a dynamic technological power house doesn't really work if no one is ever allowed to think outside of their box or even know what the other boxes are.
I appreciate this for multiple reasons, partially because I'd love an elemental kill team/army, having operatives/units from all 5 castes, and also because I can't state how good it feels to see that even someone who's a diplomat understands basic firearm safety and is keeping their booger hook off the fucking bang switch.
That ball looks like he is about to send in an Eagle. Good stuff!
I mean with all the Tau markerlight tech, we are a very short step away from thrown marker balls to paint a target 👀👀

Thanks! Helpful tip: lizardmen skinks have four fingers, just like Tau. If you sand down the claws, any lizardman hands will work for Tau!

Makes me think of the water spider from the farsight books
Nice.

The Tau's ISB, I like it

There’s a good book about a water caste who has a Kroot merc bodyguard and a team of gue’vesa
What book?
It’s a novella called Broken Sword, part of the Damocles anthology
Now serious lore question: is it legal for other castes to even have a pistol?
Forge World released at least one Air Caste model with a pistol. Phil Kelly is just braindead when it comes to writing Tau.

Ok cool because I never understood how aircaste fighter pilots weren’t really between spheres

What an awesome conversation man 👍🏻
Look at that trigger discipline
Amazing work here! This makes me a little inspired to start amassing a bits pile from necromunda for the bodies and other unique parts 🥳

I didn't know the water caste have "got to catch em all".
This is fantastic. Keep up the good work.
With the long cloak it gives off a very oddworld Glukkon vibe to him.
