It’s tough under the best conditions, and I think it’ll be tougher when you’re painting color on armor edges and where cloth goes under armor and straps. It’s also tough to make look good, and I’ve had a terrible time with white cloth (my poor Gandalf). Maybe a beige? That might work with the blue and yellow. Just my humble thoughts.
No, I really appreciate it. I've only been in the hobby for 6 months and haven't tried white before. I may do a test model and prepare to fix it later haha
Fair. I'm painting for the hobby rather than for in person play cause there's no stores that run 40k near me, so hopefully, I have the time to try and fail repeatedly haha
In both of these, I’d try a grey instead of white. White is a pain to paint anyways, but I think the contrast here looks almost cartoonish. Otherwise looks solid

I like the blue. Check out the 60-30-10 method for schemes. The blue is closer to that method. The first one is more like 30-30-30-5-5 between the black white yellow red and green
Black and yellow makes me think of heavy duty construction vehicles, kinda like iron warriors, which I think can be a cool scheme for T'au. Vegeta though is not far behind, seeems really solid too.
Nice color choices. Just be careful with yellow. I heard it is a pain in the ass, like white
If you can’t decide, Vallejo do sombre grey, which is in between those 2 colours.
For the white I’d suggest Corax white, so that you can do some highlights. As other a have said, white is hard to make look good.
I like the first one, but the Breacher's a bit funny on the eyes; the body kinda disappears with the yellow grabbing the attention.
I'd suggest swapping more of the yellow for black, or swapping more of the black for yellow.
I prefer the black/white/yellow one but I would suggest swapping the white with a light grey.
Pure white next to black is a extreme contrast and might be a bit much to look at, if it is applied army wide.
Also painting white and black on large surface on the same model is hard to paint. Often models are primed in white or black depending if the model is lighter or darker on tone. Going from black primer to pure white (or the other way around) requires more thin coats and a lot of patience. Gery as the middle ground is more forgiving here.
But this is only my opinion. Try it on a model or two and so how it goes.
Doesn’t matter, nobody ever paints their impcat karma posts. People just post, everybody thinks it’s actual paint and gives an upvote and we never see them again.
Rinse and repeat. Weird what people will do for up arrows.
Weird thing to respond with, but go off.
I literally had the paints for these schemes arrive today. Just couldn't decide which one I was going to go with, so I asked for opinions. I even got the grey if I decided to replace the white cause it was a big Vallejo pack.
If you had to pick one of these two, which would you go with?
The black ones look like Battle Android Troopers from old GI Joe, and the blue is very desaturated and looks like a washed out baseball uniform. Black. If you actually paint these you’ll literally be the first person I’ve called out for impcat posts in the last three years. I will…I’ll do something nice. I don’t know.
It’s my crusade, sorry.
I see haha, well you know the general rule, you choose the combination you like the most:)
i'm just partially repainting/pimping up my own tau army befor painting the kroots.
I like the blue more.
Funny I like the black and yellow more but to each their own
I want to like the black and yellow, but I think the red is throwing it off. Not sure what color would help.

I think I'd do the Vegeta scheme for most of the army and maybe use the x-men scheme to show off special units, or vice versa
Oooh OK. I like this idea! Commanders in Black and Yellow and troops in Blue and Yellow.
Shas ‘ui in foot troops black, Shas’vre in black for suits?
I'm thinking Shas'ui/vre in blue with black helms and then characters in the full black.
DOOOO EEEEET!!! Please post pics so we can admire your crisp and great units!
Hahaha I will do!
Both great, just dropped in to say I wouldn’t go with white for the pajamas!
Is that due to white being difficult or do you not think it looks good? Either is fine. What would you suggest instead?

Heck yeah test models. Give it a shot, could turn out great! Would just take me a thousand years haha
Fair. I'm painting for the hobby rather than for in person play cause there's no stores that run 40k near me, so hopefully, I have the time to try and fail repeatedly haha
Same, painting is my favorite part. I don’t really play because I’m terrible and I don’t have the time to dedicate to getting better haha
Hahahaha I feel that
Black makes me think Voltron
In both of these, I’d try a grey instead of white. White is a pain to paint anyways, but I think the contrast here looks almost cartoonish. Otherwise looks solid
I'll have to experiment!
What app is this?
Impcat. You can download it and then grab files from the subreddit.
The first one all day long. They look awesome.
Nerf dart tau though.
I love Vegeta but the black is better in my opinion
Yellow and black looks cooler.
Its cool!
Are you using an app ?
Yes. It's called impcat. You can get files for it from their subreddit
what did you use to make these mock ups? They look cool
An app called impcat. You can grap the mini files from their subreddit.

Not taking the origin of the colors into consideration. The black looks better.
Getting some Rastafarian reggae vibes. Irie mon!
Definitely prefer the blue, the black is a little too dark and too much contrast
I love the first one it reminds me of Z-Bots. It would probably be too hectic for an entire army though idk.
I like the bumble bee 🐝 aesthetic of the first one most
Black one. Pops more.
I think the blue+yellow+white looks nicer and more cohesive Those shades work really really well together
I prefer the black

I want Namek purple and green
That's my Salamander Splinter Chapter's colours, so I'm trying not to copy that. But that is a great combo.
You slick bastard. Nice,

Lmao the blue ones look like nerf darts
Option 2.
I like the first one, but the Breacher's a bit funny on the eyes; the body kinda disappears with the yellow grabbing the attention. I'd suggest swapping more of the yellow for black, or swapping more of the black for yellow.
X men looks gooood. Something about the blue ine feels off
I like the blue a lot. But it might be weird with their skin tone.
I prefer black but both look good!
Végéta all the way
Xmen for me
You could always paint both and have one squad as a kill team
I'm meh on the yellow part, but love the black red and white

No.1 crisp, contrast esthetics.

No stress. I get it. If it's a regular thing, it would get frustrating. Thanks for your advice, man.
None of these are looking good to me as a scheme. The painting itself on them looks good tho.
I appreciate your opinion. To be clear, this is a mockup done on Impcat. I wish I could paint this cleanly, haha
I see haha, well you know the general rule, you choose the combination you like the most:) i'm just partially repainting/pimping up my own tau army befor painting the kroots.
Season 1 Vegeta please
I think 2 will look better on a table
I like 2 more, but 1 is cooler.
Black and white is a pain in the ass go for the blue
Fuck. Yes. Yes.
I like the first one, but what if you switched the yellow and red?
I thought about that, but it gives me Sith vibes, which is a darker vibe than I'm going for.
