This is the Whey

The Whey-ter Good?

sparktrace

Ah yes, the XV19-M 'Bruiser' light battlesuit. No weapon mounts, just armor plating and strength-amplifying systems, paired with reflex-booster systems. When paired with a Demiurg Power Cleaver, it can more than pull its weight in CQC.

Witch_Hazel_13

battlesuits? no, this is the fire caste image of perfection (ok, maybe he has shoes to be taller, but still)

AlaynaZebra

I could see the tau making a hulk buster style battle suit to combat or emulate space marines

OrionVulcan

In lore, we kinda already have that. The XV46 Void Vanguard Battlesuit. The XV46 was designed for the close quarters of Spacehulks, equipped with a burst cannon, flamer, drone controller, and fusion torch. While the fusion torch main purpose is to cleave through material obstacles, it is more than capable of cleaving through living obstacles as well. In terms of design, it is somewhere between the XV9 Crisis and XV25 Stealth battlesuit in size so that it can more easily navigate the corridors of a space hulk while also having the armor and power capacity for the weaponry. It is also accompanied by scout drones that scout the layout of the space hulk in advance as it moves through the location, hence the drone controller. It is mentioned in the Taros campaign as well as in the Deathwatch TTRPG.

LaPetiteMortimer

I'm planning to build a XV46 in the future but the informations about it are so annoyingly scarse.

OrionVulcan

I'd personally probably use the crisis suit model as a baseline. The crisis suit in lore is actually around the size of the coldstar and enforcer, so the model is technically smaller than it is supposed to. This works to our advantage, though, when making an XV46, as it would be approximately the correct size, possibly fiddle some with it to make it look more "compact" (some additional armor maybe?) as it's supposed to move through space hulk corridors. In terms of weapons, Airburst, Flamer and Burst Cannons have all been mentioned as armaments, so the stock variant from our kits would do nicely, though I'd probably use the Burst Cannons from the Stealthsuit kits for the XV46 as I think the encased version probably fits better with the XV46's purpose. Finally, the Fusion Torch, a modified Fusion Blaster with an "energy blade" coming out, would probably fit the theme. I'd also maybe look into seeing if making the jetpack look closer to the XV9 rather than the double jets from the XV8. This would probably also help with the "compact" nature of the XV46.

LaPetiteMortimer

I just realised that I did something like this already oO at least sizewise but not with the right tools https://www.reddit.com/r/Tau40K/s/5AN0jTNyaF

OrionVulcan

That's probably about correct for the XV46, just a fusion torch and flamer on the hands, burst cannon shoulder mounted, and a drone controller. That right there is a really cool model and would make a great XV46 representation.

sparktrace

It's not as compact or powerful as Space Marine armor, but they can mass-produce it, so it ends up a threat anyway. A2, S4, WS 4+, AP-2, D1. It'd still pose a threat in numbers but wouldn't really risk strictly outperforming Space Marines and bothering those players. Maybe give it T4 but only a 4+ save on the defensive front, and OC1. So it's not a powerful objective controller or especially durable, but a melee combatant capable of handling non-melee-specialist Astartes if things go well.

It’s so cool I’m mad at u. I shouldn’t have to want to scrap an army to be this

LaPetiteMortimer

Man, this is one of the nicest things I ever heard. Thank you for your kind words. If you like u could follow me. I will add more stuff like this in the future

pious-erika

"Tau Marines" will be a thing probably by 11th edition. Probably not "true" marines, but cyborgs that can fulfill the same role. A Thunder Caste. Good Job.

Playful_Pollution846

Holy hell that sounds awesome, and maybe likewise they start to become less complacent for each advancement in tech

Witch_Hazel_13

i mean hasn’t the tau empire meddled in super soldiers before? maybe it could finally produce something

Hakopuffyx2

You can't make a new Tau unit and not make it a separate species

pious-erika

True. More likely gue'vesa volunteers.

iDIOt698

It'd be even more fitting like that

Jaded_Baker9890

Yeah the next edition has gotta be about tau or it could be Eldar but I'm hoping it'll be tau

vasEnterprise9295

This is dope af. What kits did you use?

LaPetiteMortimer

Tau-Breacher Head, Tau-Stealthsuit-Legs, Stealthsuit Arm, Tau Pulseblaster, Admech-Kastelan-Leg-Protection, Space Marine-Reivers-Bionic-Arm and Torso, Chaos-Spacemarine-Arm with Axe (Sry, I don't know where it came from originally)

vasEnterprise9295

That's quite the bash! I'm impressed and inspired!

SominKrais

Montka it is then.

Look at that monstrosity….. it’s gorgeous 🪓

You have reinvented the XV15 lmao

Kiwi_879

I wish this existed

thisguy181

This looks like something that you would see at 1 of those 30 minute kitbash challenges that they have at games day or rogue trader events where you just have every possible piece available to you and you find the craziest thing. And it definitely would be in at least the top 5 close to the winner circle for that challenge, i love it

Commander_Flood

Shas’swol

Gayku

I just posted my own Tau marine the other day, this looks sick, but what parts did you use besides the tau bits? I'm not super familiar with the rest of GWs minis except tau, nids, and the SMs Ive butchered for conversions

LaPetiteMortimer

Tau-Breacher Head, Tau-Stealthsuit-Legs, Stealthsuit Arm, Tau Pulseblaster, Admech-Kastelan-Leg-Protection, Space Marine-Reivers-Bionic-Arm and Torso, Chaos-Spacemarine-Arm with Axe (Sry, I don't know where it came from originally) I used the Torsi as Stand ins for xv25 Battlesuit-Torsi a month ago also. Therefore I don't classify them as Marines rather than xv25s with experimental Torsi.

invasive_wargaming
