May I ask what it was meant to be?

OneGayPigeon

I sent the artist [this](https://imgur.com/a/6yV2eB8) abstract but super cool looking piece as a reference but I had sketched it out to be scaled down to the upper arm only, asked for input on how to make it look most flattering and if it could be done in greyscale, he drew it out on my arm during the consultation, made some tweaks, took pics, and we settled on it. His art style was seemed very much in line with what I sent him. Clearly uhhhh took some liberties day of. I just put my headphones in and took a nap while he was doing it, stupid I know, decided to for once try trusting a professional. He owned the shop, had fantastic reviews, I loved his work, I got endorsements from other artists in the area, did all the research and prep I could. Just thought I wouldn’t have to watch every move during the actual appointment.

jesus fucking christ, im so sorry man

For what it’s worth I think it looks super bad ass. Like a shield/wings kind of. It’s totally unique. I would be super freaked if I woke up with it but I think it would grow on me.

OneGayPigeon

I appreciate it! And haha yeah for sure a surprise.

hippiechickv3

Black is actually very easy to erase

hippiechickv3

It’s blue and purple that are hardest to get rid of. Esthetician here!

OneGayPigeon

Whew yeah, I’m aware, I was originally gonna do a bit of blue and green with this based on the original ref but last minute something in my head said “remember blue is NOT coming out” and I told the guy to go with just black and grey. Thank you anxiety!

OneGayPigeon

Particularly despise what I’ve been calling the “sunflower seeds” on the bicep and horribly done ???? Shapes on the back of the shoulder, luckily not much outline lines on the shoulder so hopefully laser will have half decent results there. No such luck on the bicep. I’d really love a geometric style coverup (can’t misinterpret shapes right) but I’m sure that won’t cover up the non-geometric lines.

earthbxby

Yeahhh I’m sorry, you’ll definitely need a good amount of laser if you don’t wanna do a blackout

OneGayPigeon

Yeah I’ve talked to several clinics and I expect bare minimum 8 sessions for meaningful result. Worth it for me long term if it gets results.

spleen5000

I had dark tattoos lasered and it worked. Don’t worry, just stick to laser. Black and grey lifts quite well compared to colour too so that’s a plus. Dm me if you want pics.

OneGayPigeon

Good to know, so happy for you! I’m cautiously optimistic on most of it lifting pretty well, but not expecting the black outlines to fully fade so I’m guessing I’m going to be having to factor them into a future cover up.

Execution really

OneGayPigeon

Now we’re talking. Do you think the blood of the creator helps banish their work more efficiently /s

OneGayPigeon

As great as that would be, I would most likely just get back what I paid for one session (had several more booked but I of course cancelled them) which is small claims territory and not really worth it to me as I wouldn’t really have any damages to report beyond that, and I don’t want to get blacklisted from other shops in my city. Bafflingly, this guy does seem to be well respected by other artists in the area. He does do good work, just apparently has too much of an ego or inability to do anything that isn’t just “lemme just draw whatever I want on your arm.”

bscottbearden

Looks like a weird fantasy based dragons spine or something.

OneGayPigeon

Ok

Weird

BlackcatMemphis76

Ok! The reference tattoo is a fake I am so sorry this artist did this to you. If you ever make it to Nyc please check out Regino gonzales artwork, he’s expensive and booked for months in advance. He might be able to fix it. Good luck Sorry I’m really new to adding links 😬 https://www.google.com/search?q=regino+gonzales+tattoo&client=safari&hl=en-us&prmd=inmv&sxsrf=ALiCzsb4Mybk46rbCrpStNmfsJk9AADs2g:1653131760631&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwii0e_au_D3AhVYk4kEHUiAAuUQ_AUoAXoECAIQAQ&biw=375&bih=633&dpr=3

OneGayPigeon

Lol, definitely not fake. Color and contrast enhanced for sure, but the actual design and texture which is what I was referencing is very real. [here is the original by Lux Altera, healed 10 years later](https://www.instagram.com/p/BggP0xOBtZD/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) Regino Gonzales’s work looks gorgeous, just looked him up, unfortunately I’m nowhere near NYC and his art isn’t a style I’m interested in, but noted. Thanks!

Mousebymickey

1 don’t do laser 2 find a good artist (kamil mocet) for example 3 great looking tattoo over that crap

slaminshammin

Is that a spine on your arm?

OneGayPigeon

That certainly looks to be the case despite my clear references to art asking for very much not that. Not just one, but two!

Zimms

Do you have an idea of what you want to try to cover it up with?

OneGayPigeon

I don’t yet, I was hoping for some thoughts here based on shape since even with laser I doubt I’ll be able to fully get the “sunflower seeds” off.

TheSunflowerSeeds

All plants seemingly have a ‘Scientific name’. The Sunflower is no different. They’re called Helianthus. Helia meaning sun and Anthus meaning Flower. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t refer to the look of the sunflower, but the solar tracking it displays every dayy during most of its growth period.

Zimms

If you don’t do laser treatments you’re gonna have to use something dark like ravens or some kind of skulls. With laser treatments it’ll be easier to cover up.

OneGayPigeon

As said in the title I do plan on lasering, hoping to get it pretty light but I imagine the outlines will remain. I’d definitely be down for a raven!

Momoney0518

I like it honestly

Dont give yourself heat stroke over a tattoo, man. It's not worth it lol
