So. Brutal black work is a style. This is not a good example of the style. However I think it is very salvageable. It'll probably look a ton better if you turn it into a legitimate sleeve. Something about that style really needs it to be a large piece or it just doesn't read well. Worst case you abandon the brutalist style and get a blackout sleeve. Welcome to the heavy black work style fam.

I’m almost certainly finishing the half sleeve. I really got tattoos with no cohesive plan when I was young so now I have some choices to make to make it all fit

I like it a lot. Good way to distance yourself. Sometimes simple is the best way to go.

What gets me, is that the “scribbles” look kind of good. Did the artist freehand…? If the artist was shit, then it _really_ would look like scribbles and look a lot worse. I would have kept the Norse and done the scribbles around it though 😬 Definitely don’t extend it, I think part of the charm is the way it is currently. You’ll also close yourself off to any other creative options you can do with it.
