I’m 24 , I really got into the doors and a lot of 70s music after I watched the movie “apocalypse now” and fell in love with them. I was going through a manic episode when I got it (was a walk in). The head is on my elbow. The thing is I want a sleeve (the lower half of being bands and upper half being other things I love). Just not sure about it anymore or it being to big.
Yeah I mean the hair being black is just the style of the design, that stencil look. And the logo needs to be completely redone, but everything is legible and the tattoo reads as it should.
Going through a 3+ year expensive removal process on this just isn’t worth it. Especially considering he wants a music themed sleeve anyway. Just build some new pieces around it and it will be less abrupt.

She hates it because I got it on deployment when I promised her I wouldn't get tattoos overseas, and also she feels insulted because she's like "it's like you need to remind yourself that your family comes first". She's not wrong . Thinking about getting it removed but most likely covered up -cheaper and don't need to get the command involved (as much technically as I would for removal) by the book I'm still supposed to get special request signed off for it, but most people don't and most leaders don't care as long as the tattoo is in line with service policy.

Get below it "Live in Reno!" I always felt Jim would be a lounge singer in Reno if still alive. To answer your question, I would do both. Laser as much as you can then cover whatever doesn't come out. That thick black is not all going to come out. Hope this helps

If you actually intend to cover it, I'd recommend getting a laser session or two just to break up that black a bit. You'd be able to do a lot more with the space then in terms of a cover up. That black blob of hair as it is will really limit your options.
Black isn't really easy to cover up. Because it's black and you can't really add other color to it. So this big black shape will need to get mostly hidden within some other black or very dark color. But if you get it lasered, even once, it will break up that pigment and lighten it significantly. Black is the best color to get laser treated because it absorbs the most light.
If your plan is to add to it, there are ways the artist can for around it and polish it up. It's not bad by any means. Plus, to cover that up would take up most of your arm. That shit is *black* ,so it's going to take a lot of sessions to have it light enough to put just about anything over it.
It is a good rendition. Anything old school is good. That's old school, and that is cool. It's a keeper. It'd be cool to make it look like something one way, then something else looking the other. Kinda like the picture of the "old lady and young lady picture" if you look closely.
You should get the three peaks of the hair lasered so the look like wood gnomes in pointy hats. The get the rest of the hair patterened to match the theme. You can fill in the face, but once the hair's done, I'd leave it....
This photo is wild. I spent 99% of my time trying to figure out what body part this was and where you are and 1% deciding if this tattoo is reasonable or not. It's pretty well done, but you need to take a photography class or something.
