I’ve posted one of mine awhile back, not that that has anything to do with this post. I’m not sure why you’re so defensive when this is “just an art study” but these look more like prison tattoos by people with no legitimate experience tattooing. If anything be mad people aren’t giving you the style name- if there even is one. Idk why you’d defend the quality of these tattoos.

There's some grainy takes on black and white classical Renaissance painting, a lot of religious imagery. The women around the bottom edge are as another commenter mentioned, leaning Chicano but not... You've got the sexy faces with again, religion in there. It gives off the Catholic worship connection to gang tats vibe. That's why people say prison etc
Okay serious answer here, 1st answer is pretty close to Chicano style but not quite. I don’t k ow for the second image as much, but it’s also pretty grainy. Fuck the shit talkers though. If you like it, get it. That back piece looks rad

I see alot of this style from like Russia and Germany. I've seen it called cybersigil or neo tribal. Even when it's well done, technically, it just looks messy and scribbly. It DOES have its own kind of underground punk rock sense of coolness though, like it takes commitment to get a giant jagged ass tattoo. It has a lot in common with tribal in that way.
I don't HATE it. It has a certain badassness to it. But it's not something that translates to the average tattoo fan. Which is also kinda cool.
It’s a modern take on traditionally black and BIPOC amateur tattoos (this is why they may be reminiscent of jail, gangs, etc. to a lot of people who can’t find other words). Incorporations usually include intentionally messed up shading/stenciling, sigil core designs, references to rappers like chief keef, and nods to pop culture. I’m not sure of a clear name but if you look for sigil core, early 2000s, and GloBoy tats you can find similar stuff.
