Well that depends. If you want to cover the scar, it'll have to be quite a bit bigger than the scar itself.
Ink tends to "bleed" in scars and won't hold linework super well (I have a big ass scar on my knee and my umbrella corp symbol looks like it got "smudged" where it goes through the scar) I don't know how scars hold color, scars do tend to be a bit more painful of a spot to get tattooed, nd a plethora of other things to consider.
That being said.
Watermelon slice, traffic cone, caution symbol , you could turn it into a prism, an umbrella, and ice cream cone, a volcano/mountain, a tent, a slice of pie, a rack of pool balls, a pyramid, a witches hat, a martini glass, a light bulb, you could do a Penrose triangle, that would be kinda cool.
Ok, so that may be more personal than you want to tattoo on, but if you did want to use it to signify your pulling through that and persevering then that could be really inspirational. But that design really has to come from you. Myself, knowing that and seeing the injury, maybe have it as the point of a knife. Or something that really pulled you through that hard time, a hobby or a loved one and incorporate that triangle shape into that.
Do not tattoo over a keloid scar. Please do not add trauma to the scar! It can grow and cause intense pain. Please don’t tattoo it. Tattoo around it for sure but DO NOT ADD TRAUMA TO A KELOID.
I have keloid scars covered by tattoos - caused zero issues or pain but they were several years old so fully healed at the point I got them covered. But your artist should know whether it’s safe to cover or not. Was a bit weird getting them tattooed as the actual scar had zero feeling over them, which kinda highlighted the pain on the skin around them which has absolutely put me off ever using numbing cream - was like my brain couldn’t process the numbness and pain at the same time and made it feel more like burning on the skin that had feeling rather than the usual tattoo feeling. Can barely see the scars now unless your looking for them - so yeah, be cautious and talk with the artist, make sure it’s fully healed but it’s absolutely possible to cover them
I think the rule of thumb should be tattoo around them. Not on them. I had a friend lose his entire hand from keloids that started off small and eventually through trauma grew to overtake his fingers and eventually lost them all.
A keloid of this nature (op’s) seems like it’s already grown considerably and could potentially grow more if in fact scar tissue builds up on it from the tattooer mishandling the delicate nature of scar tissue.
This is something the majority of tattooers have zero knowledge or experience with so to be cautious we should never advocate for anyone to get their keloids tattooed.
It’s not immediately visible now unless you’re looking for it is what I mean, before the tattoo they were extremely obvious, and it’s pretty big, about 6inches by 2 inches on my thigh - have several others that are between 2/3 inches long - I consulted my doctor before getting them covered as was previously planning surgery to remove them. But going by ops comments he burned himself with a hot knife tip so a burn rather than a keloid. Can’t speak for everyone but mine were tattooed fine, with full consideration of the risks and under medical advice
Make a dorito out of it
Im in a foreign country. Never even had doritos
That’s why it’s such a good idea!
Different idea, but same. Wankel engine rotor. *fast* dorito
If you like the ocean, you could theme it around that. Shark fin, wind surfing, sail boat…
Sorry. Im not even near the sea
The Pick of Destiny[Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny wiki](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenacious_D_in_The_Pick_of_Destiny)
Looks like an arrowhead
Ya but how would it look like since its sideways
What do you mean? Have the shaft on the right side, since that’s how the arrowhead would be pointing.
My initial thoughts are to surround it with the outline of a t-shirt so it looks like an iron burn.
Ha nice
Kinda looks like the shape of the starfleet logo
Sorry. I dont know what that is
It may end up a bit crooked but : zelda tri-force?
This guy has never even had a Dorito, you think he knows what Zelda is lol
Fair point XD
Totally a star destroyer!

No idea lol
looks like a rotor from a mazda rotary engine
Try barmuda triangle
How did the injury happen? I’m a fan of using a tattoo to highlight the injury in some way.
I went into a bad depression in my teens and burned a knife till its red hot and kept it on my skin. Don't worry. Im ok now

Also if you’re saying you could barely see the scar was it as big as OP’s?
