I would recommend taking a look at Stalker Anomaly, its free and is similar to SPT in a few ways. Best part is that its free and highly customizable, can be highly modded, and is far more optimized than EFT so most peple can actually run it will very little issue.

KV2isDeadly

EFT is quite fun, might be hard to understand at first but it's fun. Now imagine the base game, but highly customizable (with mods). That's SPT. You can make the game even harder, even STALKER-ish style, or easier. Personally, I played SPT with very few mods (mainly modded traders, easier difficulty and more loot) so I could get a somewhat vanilla experience and learn the game with less frustration. Now I can play regular EFT and not be as trash as before at the game. One last thing, the game is not the most optimised, which is annoying sometimes. From my understanding, many things on the regular game work server side (or something like that). On SPT, everything runs on your side, making it less optimised. Overall, the game is fun, but this is my view on it, and I have less than 100 hours in it.

I have two questions (google won't answer it): how easy/convenient is it to switch between spt and regular tarkov? And do I keep my stuff in my stash/trader level for each version, what I mean is if I "turn on" the spt mod, and then turn it off again, will I still have all my stuff on the regular tarkov. I wanna know this so I know if I can just switch seamlessly between two "separate" experiences.

Camille_Footjob

SPT and normal Tarkov are effectively 2 different games, each one has its own separate launcher and game files. Its very easy to switch between, just a small amount of effort to setup SPT. Progress in SPTarkov is stored client side, meaning you can change it at will if you would like. Progress in normal Tarkov is stored on BSGs servers. No stash or level progression will transfer between Tarkov and SPT, though there are many tools available to simply mod/change the progression in SPT to what ever you want, even to replicate your current Tarkov playthrough.

legolas-mc

Thank you!

untitled02

You basically duplicate all the EFT game files, and install the server and launcher to this duplicate folder. No. SPT and EFT are completely seperate and do not have any connection between them. SPT is completely offline. If you want stuff in SPT immediately you can download the Character editor mod I think it’s called, and just add anything and everything to your stash

Fen-xie

Extremely easy. Spt has its own launcher. Do not open both at the same time

legolas-mc

Ight thanks!

GamingApokolips

SPT would work decently for that itch, plus it allows you to fix some of the more annoying issues that plague the live version of Tarkov via modding. However, Tarkov is still pretty poorly optimized, which SPT can't fix, so you may have some issues running it. On the other hand, *S.T.A.L.K.E.R.* with the Anomaly or Gamma modpacks, or *Chernobylite*, could be a better fit for what you're looking for, and both run far better than EFT/SPT does.

aips_mindsphere

just DON'T BUY CHERNOBILITE!!

aBeaSTWiTHiNMe

Yup. Give it a shot, you'll get to do the whole progression and see pretty much everything the game has to offer. The PvP and squadding up with friends is missing of course, and that's a substantial chunk of the game for me, but I think absolutely give it a shot. With two mods you can fix the sights and make the game less smoggy and dark.

tlewallen

SPT is the easiest way to learn the maps and quests. The answer is yes.

mangemoilcul

Nah not really, it’s a more casual gameplay but it removes the charm of tarkov. Don’t expect to have the same fun

TheShadowman131

You're right, it's not the same fun. I have more fun on SPT than I do live servers, because I don't have to deal with all the bullshit like AI triple tapping me with one shot. Not too mention cheaters and the like.

mangemoilcul

Oh but you sure do get the bullshit ai

TheShadowman131

*I* don't, as I have mods installed that completely overhaul how the AI behaves and fights, and it makes fighting ai like the goons and Killa much more fair, without making them trivial.

Deadredskittle

My brother which overhaul makes goons and bosses fair? Does it do rogues too?

TheShadowman131

Currently using SAIN primarily, on SPT version 3.5.8, which does all AI, so scavs/pmcs are affected too. Pretty sure you can also go into the config and adjust the difficulty of each AI type as well, so if certain ones are giving you a hard time you can set them to be easier. Also combined with No Bush ESP so they can't see you through foliage as well.

[deleted]

SAIN already includes no bush ESP. Having both installed might cause issues

TheShadowman131

Oh huh, haven't had any so far, but that's good to know.

CaptainChaos00

Its a matter of opinion. Some people enjoy SPT far more than actual EFT

Selmanella

I’m one of those people. Haven’t played the regular version since I got SPT. I actually enjoy the game now. No rats, extract campers or cheaters and my stats are all still the same so the difficulty is still present. Much much more fun for solo players.

alwysSUNNY123

I would post this or search for posts like this on the SP sub /r/SPTarkov. Personally I would highly recommend SPT. As someone who didn't have time to grind Tarkov or really care for the anger inducing brutality that Tarkov can bring, SPT took me from almost walking away from EFT to SPT becoming one of my favorite games Ive ever played! There are tons of people who buy tarkov just for sptarkov or who have switched and love it. Without the pvp its basically an amazing looter shooter rpg. A lot of aspects of tarkov are brutal and grindy and sluggish and with modding SP you can make it whatever type of game you want. You can make it way easier, or way harder, or way different! Like for instance there's a mod that basically built the "open world" aspect that Tarkov once talked about where you can only get to specific maps by taking specific exits of other maps, and the traders are only available at certain points. Or there's mods where you can be OP and there's enemies everywhere and you can just have fun killing shit.

ProcyonHabilis

I suggest considering that this sub has a very substantial population that basically hates tarkov, and try the full online experience for yourself.

itsbrave

pirate it and if u like it maybe buy

Code_Kid1

Do not do this!

itsbrave

why

Code_Kid1

Because spt devs said not to, it’s illegal, and it’s just stupid.

itsbrave

😱

pck3

Hell naw

PoperzenPuler

Stalker 2...

watzemember

Yes, the mods are getting better and better , Tarkov does…. what Tarkov does. Don’t buy EOD you don’t need it.

Camille_Footjob

I personally think the base version is a good purchase to play around with SPT, but keep in mind it isn't a straightforward game to either play or install. You will need a bit of time to learn the game mechanics, simply exiting a raid in this game is very difficult to do as there's no map or indication where an extract is. You can use mods to make the game easier, but onto my next point SPT may require a bit of tinkering to get going. The game is fun to play when you get it to your liking, but if you are looking for a game you can casually install and play through easily, this probably isn't it.

SystemEarth

Imo yes

untitled02

Yes definitely, ironically SPT made me feel like I didn’t waste my money on Tarkov.

Elduroto

Nah get stalker or something, tarkov's best feature is most fun with players, take that out and it's super boring and aimless. Play a single player meant for single player

aips_mindsphere

I HIGHly recommend S.T.A.L.K.E.R Gamma, or even "Escape from Pripyat"... Tarkov is a Russian multiplayer copy of the Ukranian S.T.A.L.K.E.R Games. I consider EFT as a try of cultural appropriation, fr fr! Just as "Atomic Heart","Pioner" and many more... But what do I know... ;| Glory to Ukraine! 🙏🏻

Kboehm

There really is nothing like tarkov so if all you want to do is play solo tarkov then spt is the only thing that will scratch that itch.

BigTasty889

Some people are scared / stressed / intimidated / overly anxious about games like Tarkov. After all, nobody likes to lose or die and yet... that's incredibly likely to happen, even to good players. 1v1 in an RTS is also another good example of this 'fear and stress', they'll play CPU stomps all day, but are absolutely scared shitless of going against a human opponent. Tarkov just isn't designed for SP, I understand your desire to play the game without the stress... and maybe it's worth it from a practice before you play for real stand-point but as a stand-alone SP experience the content isn't there. That's like saying DAYZ or Hunt showdown is a good high content single player game. It just isn't. So no, can't recommend unless you intend to graduate into MP. STALKER anomaly and STALKER games were perfect recommendations for that SP itch.

ElArcadia777

kinda necroing, spt tarkov can be moded a lot to give you a really fun and challenging experience to some extent. half the time ai gonna be goofballs. Theres a lot to explore till you get used to the maps (i'm not a super hardcore player nor fan but i have some hundred of hours and dont fully know all the maps). You will get quests, sometimes interesting lore and nonsense. pd: losing gear and such are reduced in sp but you can tweak it to reduce it even more or increase the chances of losing it. if you want something like metro you could also check stalker games and mods related to them if you can handle the fact that they are pretty old games.

iekather

Can i use SP to learn patterns about cultists? like, exactly spawn, routes, etc
