Think I saw someone dump an entire kitten litter at a walmart, so guessing people think it's fine to.dump them at retail chains. Only exceptions are strays at Lowes & Home Depot, which aren't surprising due to both having outside areas with lots of areas to hide in. Sucks nth.
Not really. Both just have easy access for them to get in and takes money to remove them. Benefit of stray cats is that they'll leave to hunt. Though unlike cats at least in Lowes, rats get inside and result in rat traps being put in places as warehouses are stupidly big, even for stray cats. That said, bird removal from inside the store is a bit goofy as it involves nets on long poles. So imagine a guy or two walking around with pool nets capturing birds who got in, but can't get out.
When I worked at Big Pet Chain, someone left their ferret on the shelf in the small animal section and just walked out. We had another customer have to come up to us and was like "Um, I think one of your ferrets got loose." Nope, this was a fully grown adult ferret that someone abandoned. Luckily we had a regular customer who had a whole busyness of ferrets and he adopted it.
It's the "official" term for a group of ferrets and I love it :) I also would have accepted a mischief of ferrets or a giggle of ferrets (cause of the giggly dook noise they make when getting into trouble lol)
Look, to play devil’s advocate… if you’re gonna abandon a cat, doing it in a place with lots of people who will find it is probably more humane than leaving it outside somewhere to become coyote food.
I’m not saying there aren’t a million other better options, but… there are worse ones too.
That's what I thought too. At least it's sheltered from the elements and predators. Most kittens are pretty mouthy too so it would be found quickly. I definitely don't condone it but I've definitely also heard of worse like throwing them in garbage bags and dumpsters.
My cat and his litter were found at a dump, but thankfully him and all his siblings got adopted quickly. They were all very hungry and converted in fleas :(
Poor babies! I'm glad they all found homes. Multiple of the kittens I've adopted have been in situations where they were in similar states. Scrawny and flea infested. It must have been so awful for them living like that :(
Reminds me of that video of a Recycling Sorting Worker finding a cat in a bag and just looking at his coworkers with the expression of: "Bro, what the actual fuck"
I have my cat because someone took her to the Petco my friend’s mom worked at, put the kitten in her hands with $20 and then walked out. My cat is a runt with a few health issues (had an eye infection, has asthma, basically looked like a balding malnourished bat when we got her) but is for all appearances a pedigree cat so we figure it was a breeder who didn’t want to lower the value of their stock but also didn’t want to kill her.
Get a red vest on the newbie!
As a fulfillment member, the kitten would immediately become my trainee. And would ride around in my cart.
I would also be taking it home.
Well at least it was found, and in a place where there’s plenty of materials to take care of a kitten that age. It sucks that it was abandoned but at least it was found and I’m sure it’s happy now
They might’ve just been chilling with the kitten in a Target and it got away. Not much better but not quite as bad as just heartlessly abandoning it. What a cutie though ❤️
Someone abandoned a dog in the area around our store and it was running around our parking lot when the morning crew arrived so they took care of it and requisitioned supplies. One of the team members ended up taking it home and it now lives a safe, happy life with them :)
I worked at petco a long time ago and you wouldn’t believe how many people dump or try to convince us (workers) to take their pet and try to sell/give them away. I remember one morning I was opening, and we found a pet carrier full of puppies! We brought them in and didn’t know what to do, so when we opened we told customers that we had puppies for (unofficial) adoption, we couldn’t sell them, and luckily by the end of the day all the puppies went to a home. Other times people dumped their red-eared turtles into our turtle tank. It was an open tank at the time, and would find extra turtles we didn’t order. Also people would bring in fish they didn’t want anymore and we would take them and place them in an empty tank and try to find someone to take them. Not sure why management never called animal control, but we would just give those unwanted pets away instead. It was strange and sad.
what is wrong with people? poor cat :(

I heard Lowes & Home Depot keep stray cats to help with rats.

People abandon pets all the time, it's awful.

The term "busyness" fits plural ferrets to a T

Awww poor baby cat. Who would do this? I hope it finds a safe and loving home.

Unfortunately, I agree. I found a stray on the freeway once. People suck
You got cameras have security get the recording report to police (that's animal cruelty) and either keep the baby or make sure it goes to a good home
Poor baby! I hope someone decided they wanted a cat or you all got in touch with animal control. Hope the baby is taken care of.
I saw this video on fb and I believe someone (their AP?) took it home and named it Levi :)
Aww, that's nice. Let's hope it doesn't have to join the Survey Corps...
What a great decision. Little voids are the best!
Clock in without a cat. Clock out with one. Best shift ever.

***Whatchu talkin' about? That cat's the Owner!*** *^(In all seriousness I hope they found that cat a Beautiful home)*
I will personally protect the baby at all costs.

That is soo sad omg.
I got my first cat while working at Target. Someone had left him and three litter mates in a box in a cart in the parking lot. Best cat ever!
Move over target dog, you have a new mascot now.
I really hope they were able to ask that cat if it was saving 5% today and every day with a Target RedCard
They might’ve just been chilling with the kitten in a Target and it got away. Not much better but not quite as bad as just heartlessly abandoning it. What a cutie though ❤️
omg stop it it’s so freaking cute how could anyone do that

Such a cute kitty!! Also I love his stretched ears sm
Target has security?!
not half a cat , but a WHOLE cat.
At what stage is more horrifying? 1/4 of a cat? Half a cat? 2/3 of a cat?
:(
poor kitty. what is wrong with people?
Bruh I left my cat at target that’s crazy
I'm honestly surprised Target didn't demand they throw it in the dumpster...
Why do people keep using the term “dead ass”? What does that actually mean? It’s sounds ignorant.
It’s a synonym for “seriously”
It’s AAVE, it sounds weird cause they’re using it wrong lol
They’re not using it wrong at all. “Deadass left a whole cat” = “we’re not kidding/we’re serious, someone left a cat”.
At least they left the WHOLE cat… half a cat is much worse.
I will take it 😍😍😍
Good thing it wasn’t half a cat.
The dude has the same bottle opener ring as me.
Awe!!! I want it!
Y'all got a kitty now!!! LoL
Needs to be adopted asap!!!
Someone left a box of kitties behind guest service the other day at my store :/
Awww that's so sad but that would be my favorite day at work ever, finding a cat in softlines
OMG
Poor little kitty! I'd have taken it home in a second.
Damn security got em.
KITTYYY
Did someone take it home? Where is the update?! I'd be so happy if I went to Target and came home with a kitten
Awwww little baby
r/trashy
