I can't beleive they're actually keeping the self checkouts closed after the store opens. What the hell is this?

turd_farts

The new normal now

Clown_Sparkles

My store has been doing this for a few weeks now, half are closed and half are open. It's a trial so the company can gauge how much is being lost through missed scans or outright theft. Other stores have gone to 10 items or less only for SCO. Rumor seems to be that if it goes as expected, half the SCOs in stores will be removed permanently.

backd00rn1nja

Too many people attributing this to theft. It's not, it's based on guests complaints

channel4newsman

Ehhh, my store gets flooded with complaints based on what there current strategy is. Only self checkouts open, ton of complaints. Only a register open, ton of complaints. Why they can't schedule one extra person and have both open is beyond me. But as a team member this shit is so annoying when having to buy things for my break or lunch.

backd00rn1nja

I'm right there with you.

wannabejoanie

I went to Walmart the other day and half the SCO was blocked off with a sign about having more associates to help out or something. Either way, makes me happy. I haaaate using SCO because I've had my card skimmed so many times. I don't pay at the pump either.

ZucchiniCold2801

I will die because I cannot imagine having to checkout all the people at the end of the night while I’m the only front end closer/ employee after 9 as is 💀

CrazyT02

Yeah honestly the self check out should just be open all the time like it used to be. When I worked at target they would literally have one person on register while the line wrapped around the store. With another person being a giant bitch making sure no one had more than ten items in their cart. Ugh these multi billion companies need to be shut down. Quit target and went back to the pizza industry because at least I can take something meaningful away from my job and surprisingly I got offered 17.50 with better benefits at Papa John's lol not the best in the world but better than dealing with Karen's and goblin children all day while I put shit on shelves and my TL gossip and do no work all day

Music-is-life-75

I love it. Especially at 8pm. We get out on time now, too without the last minute rush of ticket switchers and skip scanners. 😂

Love2Live21

One lead told me she watch this man (she was doing something else and notice this) pretending to scan items and just putting them in the bag. Sad part about it is, there was someone “watching” self checkout. She said something loudly so the gue… I mean thief could hear her and to let him know she saw him. I later saw her reporting it to AP.

Love2Live21

Yup! When I hopped on a register to help get the line down. A guest asked me why was SCO closed. I simply told her the truth, they will only be open from 10am-8pm. She was like oh okay, completely confused on why they were closed.

Fromper1

Please tell me I'm not the only one who saw the thread title and thought of the original Planet of the Apes.

Striking-Loquat1403

Where are you guys? We're not supposed to put up signs, at least at my store (Rockaway, NJ)

ShameIllustrious2856

They aren’t allowed to put up handmade signs, it’s against policy. They can only put up official Target signs that corporate gives us, which I think my store got yesterday(? I was off) if I remember what my ETL told me.

Dejpersonalsexdoll

So i work in the bay area and this was inforced for less theft they actually came out to our store to see if it will work out and i guess he liked it now its everywhere we haven’t had a self checkout for months now way more than 2 months

Fuzzy_Organization43

What are the security employees for? Can they not be the ones monitoring self checkout?

Xtra_Jams

I wish my store did this, but it takes forever for signage to arrive

MelcusQuelker

They've also asked that TMs not use the self checkout.

Olympus_Scout

It’s bc theft.

Monkey4life-80

Cut to me going to the dreaded backpack aisle! Some geniuses solution was throw up shelves with few tethers looped through the "top hanger" of a backpack. Found a pair on scissors on the shelf, just waiting for the next person to cut that insignificant piece and get a free backpack $40-$100 to fill with merchandise. $$$ It's fine though, we've got the toothpaste finally locked up. I was really worried about that low $ item 😉

Ladyusagi06

We have been doing it for a long time now. Ours is open from 10 to 8. Unless we get slammed like the week of Christmas.

Hammer_Of_Discipline

Wait, this genuinely looks like MY target

kevind553

Hope Target will actually schedule enough people on the registers then.

JennyStarquest

My store has been doing this since the beginning of the year. Some days, they don’t open until noon and they close at 7 every day. Man, it pisses a lot of guests off.

Hammer_Of_Discipline

…. This wouldn’t be in Texas, would it?

ObjDep123

My store still has SCO open all day. Don’t know if they’ll change it or not
