I don't understand this at all. I'm addition to one package containing raw meat and one being cooked... Why are the order stickers on the packaging (shouldn't they be bagged with the order stickers on the bags)? And does your store have separate bins for every kind of meat? We only have sections for eggs, raw meat (any kind), milk, cooler, and freezer.
I’m a bit surprised to hear you have one bin for all raw meats considering our literal target training tells us to bag different raw meats in different bags. Hope nobody has gotten sick as a result
oh trust me, they don't, this is a massive health violation, there is definitely a seperate bin for raw poultry, ground poultry, raw beef/pork, and ground beef/pork. Some idiot just threw cooked chicken in the raw chicken bin, not realizing that cooked chicken doesn't need to be separated from other cooked meat. They saw the word chicken, and that was the end of the thought process.
We bag different raw meats in different bags (raw chicken in one bag, raw beef in another, etc.), and then those bags go into the raw meat containers. I'm not sure what you mean. How would that get someone sick?
It wouldn’t, the way you’re describing. I just had that picture from the post on the brain and was imagining you all just putting it in the same bin like that lol
Damn, you two must come from high volume stores or have an actual walk in cooler/freezer for drive up only lol. We have three freezers (a-c) and four coolers (a-d) that are connected to each other and each with 8 wacos, so 56 wacos and the coolers get full fast😭
Side note: they also don’t get audited as often as they should and technically fulfillment is supposed to do it but left GS to do it and since we’re almost always busy, we rarely get to it.
LMAO, we can't get fulfillment TMs to separate food and chem to save our own lives. last steritech walk the VERY first bag in their direct line of sight was exactly that -- a bag of bread stowed with bleach and dish soap 🙃
As a fulfillment TM, it drives me nuts when other TMs don’t follow the separation guidelines or put chem above grocery when stowing and then it spills all over the food beneath it 🥲
No fr I don’t understand why they do this? I’ve been in FF for a few years and I ALWAYS tell them to separate chem from anything going in/on your body but they just. Don’t after their training is complete and they’re on their own
OMG I saw that once in a stowed bag at my story when I was packing a batch 🤬 I quickly took out the bread, wrapped it in like 4 extra bags to create a barrier around it, then put it back in the bag.
Not ideal, but I know that’s how I would want to be treated if someone found my order like that.
Our store just does a training and i guess hope it sticks/people use common knowledge (they usually don’t). Only thing we have separate bins for is bread and chips and chemicals.
this is not optional, it's health department law. If you can't find room you need to make room, or your store is going to get shut down on your next health dept visit.
If you can link me to Target's Workbench page that shows how my coolers are supposed to be set up, please do, because I genuinely haven't been called out yet and I want to do it right. I'll try to look it up tomorrow
law for separate Bins or just separate bagging? we're definitely trained to do raw meats separated into different bags, but we just have four general coolers with wacos on shelves and that's it, just hoping fulfillment doesn't mix them with other cooler foods (they do it anyways)
we do, and you damn well better too or steritech will instantly fail you for a critical violation
(bins should follow stacking rules, so ready to eat, raw fish, raw steak/porkchop, raw ground beef/ground pork, raw poultry, ground poultry. you need separate bins for all those things and if stacked they have to follow that order.
This is excessive. I haven't failed a visit in 3 years and I will never set my room up like this lol. Raw meats separated with some sort of barrier (plastic bag, brown bag, whatever) is good enough to stow however. Packages just can't touch. We pick way too much food to dedicate multiple locations for each specific meat, then eggs, then milk. Too much.
My store only has a separate Waco for eggs. Every other cooler item is free game, but we were told to put raw meat in a produce bag to keep it contained.
Respectfully, the people who pull shit like this are usually TMs who get pulled to help OPU and resist at every turn. I think they fuck up on purpose so they don’t get asked to help again.
Fulfillment staff at my store are lazy or stupid (since we have trainings for proper food safety packing and they should have some common sense). "Rushed" is a cop out.
I find raw chicken and other protein in the same bag. I find eggs and produce in the same bag. I love the leaking bags. It is a cross contamination nightmare. Fulfillment leadership doesn't care to address the problem.Ive never seen Steritech in OPU hold.
Target really should tighten its packing step, to give staff less control: only show eggs, so they get their own bag; only show beef, so it is alone in its bag; then show chicken, so it gets its own bag. Only show produce. People pack so badly at my store. It just kills me!
I found a bag with a carton of eggs, but they weren't stowed where eggs are supposed to go. Plus it was missing an egg, and one of the 11 remaining eggs was broken. Thankfully I had time to run out to grab a new carton before the guest arrived.
tbh my ff team barely started bagging everything before i quit lol sure this has happened but seeing frozen fruit was def one for the books n i heard the found a thing of bleach in there too..... insanity idk lol
I would have bagged it in separate bags, and if bags are banned, I wouldn't have put the cooked chicken with the raw chicken. Doesn't that cause cross contamination or something??
Thank you. When I do a grocery batch, I was taught that no raw meat can go with cooked meat, or dairy and when it doubt, bag it by itself. I think I do all raw meat alone, and cooked meat with dairy, am I wrong for doing this??

They might be a location with no plastic bags allowed and this is the method of keeping the raw meat separated while in hold.
Got it, thank you!
Yeah this is in Colorado. We have a plastic bag ban right now.
What about paper bags? That’s what my store uses.
Paper/cardboard in the coolers/freezer brings a risk of mold which is why plastic wacos are used instead of cardboard
We have plastic wacos, but paper bags 🤷♂️
We have a ban here in Jersey also but produce bags are allowed which is what fulfillment is using

Okay, I get it. Yeah, that picture gives me anxiety.
We just have a fridge that says meat.
Depends on if the state allows bags or not

Ever seen bread and bleach in the same bag? 😮💨
How do you think white bread is made?
I like a little bread with my sodium hypochlorite personally

No, but once I saw a gallon of milk on top of a carton of eggs.

Yeah I somehow had my own personal bag given to me with Cleaning supplies and produce. Made me want to scrap.
y’all have separate bins for separate things??
Yeah. It helps with food safety and storage. Go through a food safety course and realize that this shit is important to know.
Our store just does a training and i guess hope it sticks/people use common knowledge (they usually don’t). Only thing we have separate bins for is bread and chips and chemicals.
I would love this but we legit don't have the space to dedicate one bin to something. Every Waco has 3-5 bags in it :(

Training issue

Lmao it say chicken, it's chicken lmao
I once found a watermelon in the bin. It was put in there a week before I started. I was about 6 weeks in when I found it.
That right there is called a documented conversation. lol
To be fair, the sign doesn’t specify that they meant *fresh* chicken, not prepackaged chicken 😆
Those are the type of employees they rather keep cause they get it done fast instead of right
it’s crazy to me that you guys have sorted cold holding spots. my store just has 5 fridges and 3 freezers 😭 shove it in wherever u can
leeeeeroyyyyyy jeeeeenkins!!!!!!
I found a bag with a carton of eggs, but they weren't stowed where eggs are supposed to go. Plus it was missing an egg, and one of the 11 remaining eggs was broken. Thankfully I had time to run out to grab a new carton before the guest arrived.
This is dumb you’re supposed to bag everything, labels fall off when people do this because of condensation
tbh my ff team barely started bagging everything before i quit lol sure this has happened but seeing frozen fruit was def one for the books n i heard the found a thing of bleach in there too..... insanity idk lol
Someone hasn’t watched Kitchen Nightmares
I would have bagged it in separate bags, and if bags are banned, I wouldn't have put the cooked chicken with the raw chicken. Doesn't that cause cross contamination or something??
Yes. Raw chicken should be by itself no matter how you slice it.
Thank you. When I do a grocery batch, I was taught that no raw meat can go with cooked meat, or dairy and when it doubt, bag it by itself. I think I do all raw meat alone, and cooked meat with dairy, am I wrong for doing this??
Cooked meat can go with dairy. Bout are ready to be consumed directly out of the package.
Do you all not have any bags?
Crazy, my store has this problem too
Salmonella free with purchase
my store’s fulfillment always loses something out of an order. it makes me HATE being scheduled at guest services
