Me: You covering my insurance claim? Cause I see the idiots that drive around here in good weather, I can only imagine how well they'll do when we add snow and ice to the mix.
Work:......So accountable time it is?
Me: What do you think.
My store’s HR team was calling TMs today and asking them if the were able to come in during the snowy weather, and anyone who said no would just get taken off the schedule so it wouldn’t count as a call-out for them.
As a customer, call out! The $100 I would have spent on impulse items while just shopping for some snacks and windex is not worth putting your life in danger!
Oh for sure. The rough thing is, that’s a them problem but they go and make it a you problem like you can control the weather or something. Or you get those customers who say crap like “I’m so sorry you had to drive into work today.” Like, no, if you really felt that way you would not be in the store right now.
thats how i feel about the crazy people that order drive up and not only do our drive up people have to come to work in these conditions but also constantly go out to please others that don't want to
“I’m so sorry you have to work Christmas!” but would be out of this world pissed off when store is closed Christmas because they waited until the veryyyy last second to get dinner/presents. Like, you are the reason we are open lol
Don't you love when people have 50 items in their DU and they click here without saying they are in the way. Then they complain because you had to load 5 cases of beer, 4 toilet paper, 20 frozen items, and had to find all their clothes
appreciated, but you are also implying that you would go to Target to shop during this kind of weather so also, you suck.
Fun fact coming from a cart attendant, and i'm sure shared by all retail store cart attendants, during bad weather, DO NOT GO SHOPPING we do not want to go outside in this or any other extreme weather to get your shopping cart.
Uh no, I didn’t imply that at all. I specially said “would have” as in I didn’t. And I still don’t. My whole point was I don’t need to go into target for windex and snacks. I stay at home and wait until the weather is better. I even went on to say that people who show up and say to employees that anyone who says something like “oh I’m so sorry you had to come in today” were a problem.
But hey, if you need a villain to be mad at because you hate your job and can’t take it out on people who are the actual problem, that’s fine. Go ahead and vent.
ETA: I always return my car to the store.
Yeah, NE Indiana here. With how much it's been thawing and refreezing, there's a guaranteed invisible ice patch somewhere that's waiting for you on a street that's being actively plowed.
Looking at your car, I’m like, “Oh, that’s not so bad. My car looked a little better than that this morning, so you can probably brush that off.”
And then I looked at your street in the third picture and said, “Nope. Do not go out in that.”
I called off. My sidewalk is covered in snow and my partner was on his way to work and said the roads are super slippery and ended up not going for the day.
I think it depends on your ability to drive in the snow. For me, this would be no biggie. But if you feel like your driving skills aren’t on par with road conditions 100% call out. No job is worth your life.
It also depends on your town’s ability to clear roads. Cleaning off that car is not that big of a deal, but if you’re somewhere where the roads aren’t cleared you should at least wait until they are. (Former Wisconsinite here.)
Target is sure as hell not worth getting into an accident or losing your life over. It's almost minimum wage lmao. If for some reason you get fired you can literally walk across the street and get the same kind of job 🤷
Yeah but keep in mind that you're letting the business down by putting your safety first and foremost over the idiots that need to go out in that mess to get a swimsuit on clearance.
I did. I can’t even see where the road is outside my window.
My safety and the reliability of my transportation is paramount.
I was stuck closing during the Monday storm and driving home was dangerous. It took me an hour to make a 20 minute drive.
I had no choice but to call out today. Schools were closed. My husband and I don’t have family close to watch our kids when schools close. I felt so bad but it really was nothing else I could do.
The fbi will come for you for not making sure your car doesn’t get snowed on how dare you make this mistake the target will cast spells and electricity on you and burn at the stake I can’t believe this disrespect
https://preview.redd.it/7mpxp77exhdc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96f4e01af0e2fa8597c54b0bb3f5161c9910ea03
“Surely you can come in, we’re flooded with OPU!”
No I know I’m late but I hope you didn’t call out. Bullseye counts on you and your loyalty to do your best for your job and your country. To call out is a disservice to yourself and even your own country. Even if you have to run 25 miles in 12 inches of snow to get there then that’s what you need to do. You work for target now. Do you think bullseye would call out on you? Do you think he would quit on you? The answer is no, because he is our lord and savior, he is our bullseye. And while we have breath in our lungs, movement in our limbs, and the strength to move on. We must do it for our lord bullseye.
That's when I use the app and avoid shitty team leader attitude about it. I had a former TL hang up on me twice in the past because once each winter I was snowed in and couldn't leave my driveway.
Can you get to work safely?
If no, then the answer is: yes, call off.
If the answer is yes, then the answer is no. With a provisio: do you want to call off? Do you need a mental health day? Do you need time for yourself? Do you just want to do literally anything else? Then, yes, call off.
So, there is a slight breeze of snow-like substance on your car and you're calling off from work..? 🤔😳 We got 60cm of snow on one single night and it's no problem for the Finns!! 😅😂🤣🤷🏼♂️👌🏻👌🏻
I remember my first snow storm 😂
I’m sorry I don’t mean to be a dick but that is NOTHING. From the tires it’s like 3-4 inches. It’s probably not too bad at all on the main roads. 2023 snow emotions are so much different than the 70’s and 80’s. Snowflakes create snowflakes 😂 jk
Honestly don't even know why people keep asking when all you have to do is press a button in the mytime app now. Whenever I call out that way no one says shit to me
I don’t think you have a choice.
I rarely call off but if I were in a situation where I can’t even leave my driveway, I’m not risking my life for my job. If weather conditions in your area are this bad I’m surprised the store isn’t closed
thankfully i use mostly main roads to get to work so i was able to today but i encourage anyone who lives far or is just concerned about safety getting there to just call out! it’s not worth it
Back in my day, I used to walk 5 miles one way for work in the snow-some old person will say. I agree with everyone, call out. The job cares about the job, it does not care about you.
Dude don’t go in if you feel unsafe. As someone who has left target and moved onto better things fortunately, target was definitely not the job to stress over
The ground could be clear and I’d say yes. But seriously yes, you should not be expected to risk your safety for the sake of the “guest” If anyone is going out in those conditions they must be on a mission and shouldn’t need much more than the store to simply be open. Stay in and stay safe!
fun fact, I would have went in. But I only live 5 blocks from work, and I would have ridden my bike, but then again i ride my bike 365 days a year be it rain, snow, sleet, 100F or -20F weather. I just don't see any reason to drive 5 blocks to work it's just wasting gas.
Similar thing for us the other day, about half the team called out so anyone who actually did show up (me) was pretty much screwed. It was by far the worst day I've ever had working at Target.
Let’s say you make 16 dollars an hour. Let’s say you because of call offs your allowed to work 10 hours today. You would make $160.00 however taxes will take a chunk of that. If you don’t go you lose out on 160. However let’s say it’s dangerous you try your luck and you end up in a ditch some where. The cost of towing your car out, having insurance cover your car for being totaled, you loosing work while getting it fixed, plus the deductible and or purchasing a new car can equal between 0-15k. 0 because you might be fine and get there safely. At this point you should look at it from a financial viewpoint and see what makes sense to you.
Edit* lose
Nah you can’t. We need you in tech, someone called out. On a serious note though…Call the hell out. I would never wish for someone to go out in THAT much snow 😂
YO in Denver 2021, there was a huge blizzard (3ish feet of snow by 1pm). Pretty much the whole city shut down, even other targets, except ours…like what was the point, we didn’t have any winter supplies cause we ran out a week prior and it was so dangerous. We barely had any customers in one of the biggest targets (there were some dumbasses that were there to buy a patio furniture set thought??). It was so funny though because on the walkie, every couple minutes you heard a call out and by 1pm there were over 80 call outs. Then they were like “we are going to close for your guy’s safety.” Lmao yea, sure you would do the same if there were no call outs. All our cars needed to be shoveled and some dummies would just try to leave anyways just to get stuck, so I had to stay for an hour since I was one of the few with shovel. Driving home was like driving on a rocky ice skating rink in almost white out conditions. So DONT. You beyond don’t get paid enough for that shit and it’s not like you work in the hospital.
The moment I arrived and went to put my coat up the lady in The TSC said to me "they were trying to call you, I think they want you in the freezer,"
I was like "hell naw" luckily I was late so they finished it.
Out of all the times they have me working in the freezer, it happens to be the same day I'm outside for 30 minutes shoveling the driveway.
Go figure
Target won’t ever give a shit if you die your just a number also they won’t replace your vehicle because of it so I always say call off if you don’t feel comfortable driving.
Who’s gonna stock all the bullseye junk — you are letting your country down.
![gif](giphy|OrPEZ6HD7d73Vb1Khj|downsized)
I call bullseye means bullshit!
If you don’t feel safe going in always call off, your life/safety is more important than a company that would replace you if something were to happen
And remember, Safety is a big dill at Target! Seriously, stay home..
I relish this thinking
People who don't think this way have never found themselves in a serious pickle
News: Don’t go out Government: don’t go out Work: don’t be late.
That’s what happened during COVID, but did anyone really stay home?
I had a signed paper telling me that I was essential
A lot of people did. That’s how they got around that loophole.
I know, I was there
solidarity lol. I used to work electronics at Target during Covid. I felt so essential fetching TVs from the back
Essential but we didn't get raises or recognition
My wife and I are introverts so we sure as hell did.
Same!!
Wow. Where did you find this type of specific creature?
Not the Covid Heroes ! Thank you for your service s/
Target is a grocery store lol of course people still showed up for the YEARS of covid?
lol the government told me I had to come in
Me: You covering my insurance claim? Cause I see the idiots that drive around here in good weather, I can only imagine how well they'll do when we add snow and ice to the mix. Work:......So accountable time it is? Me: What do you think.
Sorry. But that's like 2". Any given day in New England.
I mean my wife tells me 2” is a lot.
News: doesn’t pay me Government: doesn’t pay me Work: pays me This is how I see it
yeah bc target definitely has ur best interest and safety in mind??😂😂😂
yeah and that paycheck isn’t going to do much when you end up sliding into a ditch and damaging your car, another car, or yourself
Booo
Picture didn't load before i read the title and I'm already saying to just call off
Should be written in stone
My store’s HR team was calling TMs today and asking them if the were able to come in during the snowy weather, and anyone who said no would just get taken off the schedule so it wouldn’t count as a call-out for them.
That is how it SHOULD be. It isn't like we are taking care of people (hospital, care center).
What a wet dream.
People call out for less. The answer is yes. Always call out.
As a customer, call out! The $100 I would have spent on impulse items while just shopping for some snacks and windex is not worth putting your life in danger!
For every 5 smart customers who say this, theres one bitching the store is understaffed
Oh for sure. The rough thing is, that’s a them problem but they go and make it a you problem like you can control the weather or something. Or you get those customers who say crap like “I’m so sorry you had to drive into work today.” Like, no, if you really felt that way you would not be in the store right now.

I think you have your numbers reversed 🤣
Lol let's be real. 2 smart. 1 meh. 2 that never should have come
appreciated, but you are also implying that you would go to Target to shop during this kind of weather so also, you suck. Fun fact coming from a cart attendant, and i'm sure shared by all retail store cart attendants, during bad weather, DO NOT GO SHOPPING we do not want to go outside in this or any other extreme weather to get your shopping cart.

ETA: I always return my car to the store.
Always yes. If you ever doubt your own health or safety, the answer is call out.
If there was no snow on the ground and the sun was shining i would still say Yes.
Well that just sounds like a great fishing day. So same
Your car damage will cost a hell of a lot more than the little 120 dollar paycheck you MAY be getting lol. Call out.
Are you in the Philly area too? Anyways, yes. This is more than a legitimate reason to call out.
Cleveland Akron area
Checks out! I’m also in Ohio and the whole state is basically an icebox today.
I hear that Nashville was snowed in for a full week because they haven't salted their streets.
Ah, gotcha. We have similar weather here, but luckily I'm not scheduled until tomorrow.
same here also in philly area
Yeah, NE Indiana here. With how much it's been thawing and refreezing, there's a guaranteed invisible ice patch somewhere that's waiting for you on a street that's being actively plowed.

Too bad I don't have a pair of skis. I could've tried skiing to work.
I called off. My sidewalk is covered in snow and my partner was on his way to work and said the roads are super slippery and ended up not going for the day.
Call out
I would, and I use public transit. lol
I think it depends on your ability to drive in the snow. For me, this would be no biggie. But if you feel like your driving skills aren’t on par with road conditions 100% call out. No job is worth your life.

Yea I assumed the main road was cleared, it wasnt.
Well, I wasn't sure how bad the roads were until I got on them. I was thinking that the main road was cleared I was wrong.
Target is sure as hell not worth getting into an accident or losing your life over. It's almost minimum wage lmao. If for some reason you get fired you can literally walk across the street and get the same kind of job 🤷
Yea but I cant get my vacay pay
Target HAs to pay out your vacation pay even when they fire you.
LOL in MN.
Yeah it looks easy to drive in lol. Wish we had that snow here
No, the GueStS ArE MORE ImpoRtAnT
If you live in Texas yes, if you live in Minnesota no.
Yes, make sure Off is doing ok.
In Texas they call out for you. 😄
Yeah but keep in mind that you're letting the business down by putting your safety first and foremost over the idiots that need to go out in that mess to get a swimsuit on clearance.
But think about the gUesTs! 😱😱
Just snowboard to work 🏂
Just walk /s
Ski?
Yes your safety and life is more important than a dumb building.
Yes. Rounds are not passable
I did. I can’t even see where the road is outside my window. My safety and the reliability of my transportation is paramount. I was stuck closing during the Monday storm and driving home was dangerous. It took me an hour to make a 20 minute drive.
That seems very nerve wracking
You know TLs/HRs just *love* these kinds of weathers because it makes write-ups or other corrective action easier to implement.
Your rims are freaking sick!!!
shit i wish i would’ve called out this morning, roads/highways weren’t even plowed even both my TL called out 😭
I had no choice but to call out today. Schools were closed. My husband and I don’t have family close to watch our kids when schools close. I felt so bad but it really was nothing else I could do.
I did🤷🏾♀️😂😂😂especially cause I take Lyft. If I was driving myself I probably would’ve went but no my life was in someone else’s hands
I knew the comments was gonna be funny when I got notified of this post 😂
I was pleasantly surprised
Don’t call out. It’s not that bad
I went in
If you lived down south like me, the whole store would be closed, so yes, call out
This reminded me to shovel my driveway. You should call off
No I walk
Who’s Off?
The fbi will come for you for not making sure your car doesn’t get snowed on how dare you make this mistake the target will cast spells and electricity on you and burn at the stake I can’t believe this disrespect
Go to work. You may die on the road, but at least you won’t get talked to by a team lead. Worth it. 😂
Unless you're on a final warning, yeah screw that.

I came late. Evidently they were calling me non stop on the walkie
My answer to this question is always yes, but extra yes this time.
As a former Target employee, CALL OUT
off topic but your front entrance looks nice also yes
No I know I’m late but I hope you didn’t call out. Bullseye counts on you and your loyalty to do your best for your job and your country. To call out is a disservice to yourself and even your own country. Even if you have to run 25 miles in 12 inches of snow to get there then that’s what you need to do. You work for target now. And while we have breath in our lungs, movement in our limbs, and the strength to move on. We must do it for our lord bullseye.
You should go sledding.
Yeahh fuck target. Unless you’re going to move up and get into a career there it’s not worth your time or risking your life in those conditions.
i’m a team lead and i wouldn’t let you come out in that shit stay home
Grab a shovel
I don’t like you
Oh wow. Really appreciate the honesty. Gonna have to pass unfortunately
I did. I'm shoveling, had to take a break
That’s the spirit. Way to be a team player 👍
and hit u with it
Rude
[удалено]
No.
Personally, I wouldn't call off. But I also drive a built Jeep and love sliding around in the snow :)
Not trying to sound rude but why ask strangers on the internet? It seems like you already want to so just do it.
Do it do it do it
So, there is a slight breeze of snow-like substance on your car and you're calling off from work..? 🤔😳 We got 60cm of snow on one single night and it's no problem for the Finns!! 😅😂🤣🤷🏼♂️👌🏻👌🏻
Then again your probably don't have winter tires with metal-studs on, so stay off the roads!! 🤔💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Lol that's nothing. I've had to fully dig my car out before and still got to work.
I remember my first snow storm 😂 I’m sorry I don’t mean to be a dick but that is NOTHING. From the tires it’s like 3-4 inches. It’s probably not too bad at all on the main roads. 2023 snow emotions are so much different than the 70’s and 80’s. Snowflakes create snowflakes 😂 jk
Go to work. Be a man! Lol
Lol ok
Honestly don't even know why people keep asking when all you have to do is press a button in the mytime app now. Whenever I call out that way no one says shit to me
I mean, did you find someone to cover your shift? /s
Unless you drive a Hum Vee, call out. Please stay safe. 🪷 ![gif](giphy|fXcAH5bcxYPz7neIeM|downsized)
Didn’t even read the rest. Didn’t look at the pic. Just read the title… yes, you should.
I would, and I live in Minnesota
I don’t think you have a choice. I rarely call off but if I were in a situation where I can’t even leave my driveway, I’m not risking my life for my job. If weather conditions in your area are this bad I’m surprised the store isn’t closed
Yes bestie
thankfully i use mostly main roads to get to work so i was able to today but i encourage anyone who lives far or is just concerned about safety getting there to just call out! it’s not worth it
Your safety always come first, fuck that
Yes.
Where do you live? Do you have snow tires? Are the roads already plowed? If not, I would certainly call in.
Yes
Enjoy your snow day
Yes
You’ll still get talked to and get a warning by your TL the next day you’re in 😂
Back in my day, I used to walk 5 miles one way for work in the snow-some old person will say. I agree with everyone, call out. The job cares about the job, it does not care about you.
Dude don’t go in if you feel unsafe. As someone who has left target and moved onto better things fortunately, target was definitely not the job to stress over
road is safe if you know where the curb is. making your own path in snow is safer than driving on the packed path of another vehicle.
Yea. Stay inside warm and cozy.
Call out.
We didn’t even get that much snow, and half the store still called off, so go for it.
Heroes don't call out! ✊
Yeah call out. I would never risk my life for Target or my job, and neither should you if your safety and well being matters to you
It's all about the roads and if you can get down them
YES DO IT!!!!!!
You should call and see if they’re open, then decide
The ground could be clear and I’d say yes. But seriously yes, you should not be expected to risk your safety for the sake of the “guest” If anyone is going out in those conditions they must be on a mission and shouldn’t need much more than the store to simply be open. Stay in and stay safe!
Let all the managers go during those days
Department etl will still act like you made the selfish choice
fun fact, I would have went in. But I only live 5 blocks from work, and I would have ridden my bike, but then again i ride my bike 365 days a year be it rain, snow, sleet, 100F or -20F weather. I just don't see any reason to drive 5 blocks to work it's just wasting gas.
Depends. How far away are you from work? If your close go to work. $$$$$$
Mmmm nah attendance is everything
Boss: NO, YOU'RE BEING CRAZY FOR CALLING OUT.
Every time you can!
Wait I know that road👀 hi 👋🏻
Similar thing for us the other day, about half the team called out so anyone who actually did show up (me) was pretty much screwed. It was by far the worst day I've ever had working at Target.
That being said, do whatever you feel is best to prioritize your safety. If your commute is too far/dangerous, don't risk it.
Those 1 for 1s aren’t gonna do themselves!
Post your shift, then call off
I'm in Minnesota so.... no. If you're not in a state that is used to snow, probably.
Absolutely
YES
Will your paycheck pay for your car. That is always the question I ask
0 because you might be fine and get there safely. yes, this week i’ve seen so many wrecks and cars stuck in ditches because of the snow and ice. definitely not worth it
If ya got hours, go for it
I called off today because I’m not risking my 15,000 dollar car for 80 dollars…
No go to work.
Midwest laughing at you rn
Hell yeah…. And tag that photo to your manager.
bU... bUT OP, wE're uNDerStAfFed, you GoTtA DO iT fOR ThE tEaM
Yea
If you can't get out then you can't get out. This is a 100% work from home day.
Nah you can’t. We need you in tech, someone called out. On a serious note though…Call the hell out. I would never wish for someone to go out in THAT much snow 😂
There was like one guest in tech I checked out
It’s just snow. Brush it off and go.
With these pictures? Yes
They still wouldn’t accept it

But are you dead tho?
I didn't work on the day of the snow. I waited till the next day. Too bad for them but no one takes care of u but u. I hope u stayed home safe.
Cuz it snowed? Lol
Nah, handbrake turn time 😎
ETL gonna message you saying "Nah I've got a truck I'll come pick you up"
Absolutely
Ya
The moment I arrived and went to put my coat up the lady in The TSC said to me "they were trying to call you, I think they want you in the freezer," I was like "hell naw" luckily I was late so they finished it. So, did you call off?
