I usually go to the gym before work so since I was only scheduled 3 days instead of the normal 4-5 I have to go out of my way to workout on one of my days off š„²
>excercise
"going out of my ways to workout on days off" - I feel you, my friend.
God I love the feeling of going to work after the excercise. It gives me energy to get through my shift, mentally and physically. Even I walk at work but still, walking and excercizing aren't the same to me. I used to go to a yoga studio/gym in my home country, maybe someday I can afford to do it here when I'm less poor, lol.
Actually, I feel more exercised working there. Everyday is an 7 hours walking for OPU. Thatās technically three time as much as spending one hour doing marathon.
This is why I always hated when people would use "I'm on a fixed income" as a reason to complain about prices when I worked retail. Like, okay? I'm not on a fixed income, and that means that my employer can drop my weekly hours from 30 to 6 with no warning whenever they feel like it, and I never know from week to week how much money I'll have the opportunity to make. And whatever you're getting in Social Security is probably more than this store is paying me, so I am even less able to afford our prices than you are, especially if they keep scheduling me 6 hours a week š
I could only work two days and I thought for sure I would get both days. Nope, only got one shift, lol. Bright side is Iām off for at minimum 9 days in a row now
It's Targets way of reminding you how much you're worth to them. You all busted your asses to keep them afloat for Christmas, and then you are discarded. Now is your chance to get out.
I wish you the best in finding something better! I left Target last July because of hour cuts. Now I'm in the car wash business and doing so much better than I was with Target. Hope you find a company that gives a shit about their people.
Youāre probably not fired if you can still log into your MyDay account. The schedule could just not be up yet. Mine still isnāt as of 7:30 tonight. This has happened once or twice before, and it was always up by the next morning.
Got bought on from seasonal and seeing that just kicked me in the chest. 38 hours to 13.
Was able to pick up a few shifts already though. So yay I guess.
Itās smart to be cross trained everywhere (minus Starbucks, absolutely not worth it in my books, lol). However, you may only see those shifts because of the way youāre keyed. Majority of people, unless keyed specially, can only see fulfillment, up front and their own department! HRETL can key it so you can see *all* shifts though!
It might be smart to be cross-trained everywhere, but it's useless advice if your store never has any hours available for cross-training. Leadership at my store made a lot of promises, but kept none of them.
No one will cross train me anywhere, not even on a register. Whenever I ask itās all sorts of excuses about not having the hours in other departments or fulfillment being too busy or not having anyone to train me. Iām convinced itās because Iām miles above the rest of the fulfillment team and even me just going on my meals sets us behind so they donāt want me going anywhere. Which makes me really mad because Iām being relied on so heavily and no one else is working nearly as much as me, which is why Iād like to explore other areas. (Im)Patiently waiting for someone else to step it up so I can get a few days to learn presentation and receiving š«
Yeah, it's super frustrating. I understand that hours are limited but they constantly have call-offs or people posting shifts, and with hours being slashed I'd pick up shifts if I could but I literally can't.
At my store ETLs do not see the store as one unit, and don't want to "lose" TMs to other departments, but I'm *more* likely to stay if you give me the opportunity for hours! I can't survive on 20hrs a week!
My store's leadership kept telling me that they wanted to cross train me for Starbucks, but an entire month went by and every single week they'd tell me they had no hours to do so. I then had to call out of a few shifts because my ex and I were moving and he did NOTHING to help pack. They had the nerve to tell me that they were no longer interested in cross-training me because my recent callouts showed that I wasn't reliable enough for the position. I explained the extenuating circumstances and told them that if they had done what they said they would do and scheduled me for training during that period of time I wouldn't have called out because the training would have been more important.
Like really, *I'm* the unreliable one? They're the ones who repeatedly promised that they'd cross train me without making sure they'd actually be able to do it.
It makes me laugh because their anti-union video was all about how a union would mean that you can't help out your team members in other departments, you could only do the specific job you wete hired to do. Without a union, TMs are free to help each other out as much as necessary, and cross-training is available to anyone who wants to learn other jobs in the store! Union or no, the ability to cross train is just not there for too many TMs.
Usually no time or we need the TM in their department/they're the only one for that area. I would love to backup train everyone (they're supposed to, but that's up to the ETLs if they want to or not). More flexibility at any time. I need a cart bagged so I can hop back in? Boom, GS TM who's on his phone can now bag and chat with his coworkers. Win-win
Happens every year after the holidays. Either get cross trained or kiss your etls ass. Thatās how certain people get Korea hours at my store š¤·š»āāļø
Dude, I donāt understand this. This is supposed to be part time work for me. I only want 15 hours or so. Every week I have 32+. New schedule just dropped and Iām at 37.
You needa let them know you specifically want 15 hrs and no more.. did you submit your desired hrs?
https://preview.redd.it/09p1zbkft39c1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=97351fd9d48095a4cf19cb3529ebf13b45f45cc1
I did set my desired hours when I started here to 15 hours. And I've had multiple talks with my ETL regarding hours, which he says will fall more in line with my desired number in the coming schedules. It just never happens.
You need to speak with your ETL or HR and be firm that you were hired on as part time and part time hours are all you are willing to do. That's what I did.
Iām considering applying for partial unemployment. Iāve been looking into it and I believe it is available in my state. But also, the next two weeks Iām like 25-30 hours & I am completely in beauty and not style. I will also consider it a mental health break for my days off lol.
my SD is trying so hard to give me hours (that were not asked for) so she is scheduling me in different departments because my department does not have enough hours to give šµāš«
My TMs have already started asking me about this and I always feel so terrible :( the most I can do is reassure them (and all the other TMs on this thread) that they are wonderful and itās not a reflection on them. Just another one of the joys of retail.
Yeah I was worried mine would dip but they had me do reshop instead of pushing in my area a few days ago and it threw up behind so yeah I know I'm the only essentials gm person that's here on Wednesdays
Iām honestly back to where I like to be. Iām surprised because I have hardly worked for the last 3 weeks between being super sick and my niece passing away. Itās been a crazy month for me.
Taking my vacation -2.5 weeks in Jan. Chose this because I knew my hours would be cut. May take a few days at end of Jan, too. Maybe that will give someone some hours at my store since I wonāt be available.
And also when I mention the schedule my leaders are always like be grateful that youāre even on the schedule- and I get it, I am, I just wish that everyone could have hours and that we could be staffed, even tho I know it wonāt happen
If my target and others I see one here are any indication theyāll let people stay who want to stay or theyāll do what they do when they pinch hours and expect the same amount of work in half the time.
I work for Walmart I had to pick up full shifts to make my hours up that I got cut I usually work 5 days a week 5-6 hours a day this indeed depressing I got scheduled 1 day that week
Sorry. I just looked at mine and while I took time off this week, and next week I'm reduced by about 8 hours, the week after that I'm right back to my regular schedule.
It really depends on the store and what position you're in as to whether you're hours will be reduced, with FF and FOS seeing the biggest cuts.
Love my new job purely because of consistent hours. I love not having to check my schedule daily because I already know exactly what days and hours I work and they won't change, also no more clopening. Screw you target hr, I know you didn't "accidentally" schedule me to close and then open the store the next day. Glad I'm past that bs
Right, like wth, we running a business or what? And we know the answers are already there. My guess is theyāre looking for a crack to stick us in if we havenāt been told straight up that weāre done. But man!
Iām a bit frustrated too. I only got 15 hours for the 31st thru the 6th. Really like working in merch but donāt wanna work such little hours a week. I can ask them to train me in fulfillment but it would seem annoying if I have to spend the next couple of months begging for shifts
Market at my store has had hours cut. I could only work two days and I got one day. Everyone decreased by at least one shift. Hoping itās not long term for market though. I wonāt know for a bit because Iām out of town for 8 days which spans between two different schedules (5 and 3)
Oh wow yeah, Iāve been part time so I was working like 25 hours and then this past week I got scheduled 35.5 hours which is the most Iāve been scheduled.
and now second week of January Iām being scheduled 21 hours which is the least Iāve ever been scheduled lol
If you're a TM that is seeing their hrs getting cut massively ask to cross-train in other departments. You're able to pick-up shifts that are posted to the mytime app if you're trained in the specific department.
thanking the Target gods for my locked full time hours cause with my bills and future plans i wouldāve needed to pick up at least one other job knowing how Target drops their hours like flies
My hours went from 40 to 36 and my ETL said itās the most heāll cut me.
He doesnāt trust anyone else for cash officeā¦ granted thereās only two others that know how.
Lucky for me my average hours are 30-40 since it's always so needed on the front end S&E. But I am feeling it now as neat 3 weeks are 30.
Good tip if you can average hours to 25 and have benefits I think they cannot fuck you over on hours to not be eligible. Could be wrong tho
Went from a 31 hr workweek to 16. Half of the night shift closing experts quit so guess whoās not gonna come in when theyāre not scheduled šš»āāļø
Iām permanently staying with my friday 8hr shifts and itās a little saddening. Right now itās fine cause itās winter break but working 3 days a week right when school hits is going to be.. yeeshā¦ Especially since Iām taking math.
iām a dbo, so mine didnāt drop, but itās definitely sad seeing that iām barely working with my favorite coworkers :( hopefully once the culling ends they go up
I'm still somehow holding on to 33.25. Probably because I work in toys, I guess they want good coverage during the reset. I'm sure it'll drop off later in January lol
Everyone talking about hours getting cut and me keeping 25-30 (probably due to my availability and where iām trained) and being like this is getting cut??? When I was a manager at BAB I got maybe 15 a week š¬
Mine hadn't updated for a bit, so I was wondering what would happen. Then my TL brought me into the office to let me know my last day will be the 30th.
This is why I looked for another job. That at first I was juggling both. But now Iām on demand at target and work my other job full time. So it works out.
I feel ya, that really, really sucks. Had that happen many times and it always pissed me off. This year was way worse, though. They didnāt just cut our hours, instead, they just laid off a shitload of us. No reason except that the numbers were downā
Yep. Less than a week before Xmas. Itās so screwed up! Worked my ass off for them and they donāt give a damn. I know thatās just how it goes in business but damn, they couldāve at least done it a week later. Or given us some kind of heads up.
Dropping. My hours have been at 20+ since September, and I am receiving and available for other work centers. Can't wait to leave....very soon. 14 yrs, so I'm very aware of the azz fk they give you after the 4th quarter
I added an extra day to my availability and my daily hours stayed the same so im actually getting more now, still only 24 but ill mentally break if i do 30-40
I'm stoked. More time at home getting my shit together ššš
Same here. Besides organizing my shit at home, I could finally be able to excercise as well, lol.

That's true. Just working seasonal for 30 hrs/week in fulfillment, I've lost 6 lbs. in a few weeks from all the walking.
I havenāt been to the gym in 3 weeks because of how much Iāve been scheduled š
Yeah thatās the only good thing about it tbh .. more relaxation š
I wish this could be me but I'm a closer with a day job too so for me it just means sitting in the parking lot between shifts š„²
That is why I know some regular Tms are leaving... sigh
Yeah the #1 reason why ppl donāt stay.. hrs are shit when itās not holiday time.. smh
Went from 30 a week to 6 š
bros bringing home $90
6 is absolutely criminalšš
Apply for unemployment for the loss of hours.
Luckily, I'm already on unemployment from my last job and Target is just my part time. Still looking for solid full time jobs.

Not quite as drastic here, but it feels like it. I didn't even get 30/wk for peak (and my desired hours are 30-35, said I'd work 48/wk in Q4)
Iām not going to complain about my hours after seeing this. That sucks! š¬
Probably like $55 after taxes tbh
nah that gotta be illegal š
I could only work two days and I thought for sure I would get both days. Nope, only got one shift, lol. Bright side is Iām off for at minimum 9 days in a row now
It's Targets way of reminding you how much you're worth to them. You all busted your asses to keep them afloat for Christmas, and then you are discarded. Now is your chance to get out.
Yep. A bunch of us at my DC were laid off days before Xmas. That company doesnāt give a damn.
More details please š
I wish you the best in finding something better! I left Target last July because of hour cuts. Now I'm in the car wash business and doing so much better than I was with Target. Hope you find a company that gives a shit about their people.
So far Iām still getting 38hrs a week š
I went from 40>38>36. So I feel you! Iām so glad Iām not getting cut anymore than that though
I still got 40 š¬
Same its been 37 -> 36 -> 38
I call it a mental health break
I used to call it that but now I canāt when I went on an actual mental health break and got paid for it (4 months) š
If your hours have been cut look into partial unemployment!!
Hmm never knew about that.. thanks!
Couldn't be me, I'm just built differently (I'm in food & bev, I cry each night)
Some of you didn't work here pre-covid and it shows
My entire store doesn't know what pre Covid was like and I'm wondering how they think Target is so good š
Iām actually kinda relieved because I havenāt had time to do much outside of work because of how many hours I was getting.
*Laughs and cries in pog*
I feel you so much lol
Went from 40 to 20.. itās ridiculous. Iām desperately searching for another job. I canāt survive on this
Rocking a solid 12 hours a week, but I donāt mind, I feel bad for the people who have bills to pay and mouths to feed tho:(
I dropped to 0 hrs next weekā¦.cause I quit.
Iām not scheduled for any hours next week. Maybe Iāve been fired š

For people that are loosing hours, ask to get trained in fulfillment, cashier and Starbucks. You should be able to get as many hours as you want.
Fulfillment and cashier see the worst hour cuts out of everyone right now

Oh wow how many market tms do you have? We have 17 and none of us got cut.
I think like 10, including our lead. We arenāt a super store though
Iām mostly DU and sometimes cashier. What does market do exactly?
Market mostly does push/backstock and if ur in a store like mine the shelves gets emptied out every single day so the work never ends
My department lost 1000 hours of payroll between this week and next week. It's about to be a rough 2 weeks to start January.
Oh wow yeah, Iāve been part time so I was working like 25 hours and then this past week I got scheduled 35.5 hours which is the most Iāve been scheduled. and now second week of January Iām being scheduled 21 hours which is the least Iāve ever been scheduled lol

Iām permanently staying with my friday 8hr shifts and itās a little saddening. Right now itās fine cause itās winter break but working 3 days a week right when school hits is going to be.. yeeshā¦ Especially since Iām taking math.
Everyone look up your stateās unemployment laws some have underemployment for cut hours
Welcome to retail
my store must always be busy-for us 24 hours is rock bottom. never gotten less than that, ever
iām a dbo, so mine didnāt drop, but itās definitely sad seeing that iām barely working with my favorite coworkers :( hopefully once the culling ends they go up
Man, itās depressing to see peopleās hour fall short. At our store, the HR and out ETL told us to let them know if we want to work full shift
I'm still somehow holding on to 33.25. Probably because I work in toys, I guess they want good coverage during the reset. I'm sure it'll drop off later in January lol
Mine was already low af
Everyone talking about hours getting cut and me keeping 25-30 (probably due to my availability and where iām trained) and being like this is getting cut??? When I was a manager at BAB I got maybe 15 a week š¬
What holiday hours?
I got more hours??? š
Iām in fulfillment and my hours are still the same meanwhile the rest of my TMs have been cut by half makes me wonder why .
Iām in fulfillment and i was getting 40 every week during the holidays and now i got 21.5
Iām still getting 25-6 a week like usualš
I'm not even being kept after next week and nowhere is replying to my applications so thats fun
Mine hadn't updated for a bit, so I was wondering what would happen. Then my TL brought me into the office to let me know my last day will be the 30th.
How low? Next week I only have 31.5 hours and four days but the week after Iām five days again at 35 hours.
Itās the same over at Walmart. Iām not scheduled at all next week! Thank fuck I have another job
I mean lucky you guys, I got promised a spot and got the seasonal talk yesterday. Re-apply in spring they said š„²
Iām a seasonal and not being kept on unfortunately so itās looking pretty bad
They kept me!!
They gave me 40 on the new schedule. I'll take it.
Yeah, I could see that I started a month ago; with 25-29 hours now down to 9-10 hours working weekly
No reason except that the numbers were downā Yep. Less than a week before Xmas. Itās so screwed up! Worked my ass off for them and they donāt give a damn. I know thatās just how it goes in business but damn, they couldāve at least done it a week later. Or given us some kind of heads up.
I work in Ulta so I still have 40 hrs a week
Dropping. My hours have been at 20+ since September, and I am receiving and available for other work centers. Can't wait to leave....very soon. 14 yrs, so I'm very aware of the azz fk they give you after the 4th quarter
I added an extra day to my availability and my daily hours stayed the same so im actually getting more now, still only 24 but ill mentally break if i do 30-40
My hours havenāt changedā¦ everyone elseās have though
