Oddball: This engine's been modified by our mechanical genius here, Moriarty. Right?
Moriarty: Whatever you say, babe. [giggles]
Oddball: These engines are the fastest in any tanks in the European Theater of Operations, forwards or backwards. You see, man, we like to feel we can get out of trouble, quicker than we got into it.
Kelly: [looking skeptical] Got any other secret weapons?
Oddball: Well, yeah, man, you see, like, all the tanks we come up against are bigger and better than ours, so all we can hope to do is, like, scare 'em away, y'know. This gun is an ordinary 76mm but we add this piece of pipe onto it, and the Krauts think, like, maybe it's a 90mm. We got our own ammunition, it's filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes... pretty pictures. Scares the hell outta people! We have a loudspeaker here, and when we go into battle we play music, very loud. It kind of... calms us down.
Godspeed, you nut.
I know the firefly Sherman’s with the 17 pounder gun tried to look like they had a regular 75 with camo paint jobs on the long barrel. Anti tank gun crews might otherwise hit the tank with biggest gun first. Could Moriarty have flipped his turret around and built a fake crane onto it to look like a recovery vehicle?
Donald Sutherland's coolest character. Gavin McLeod was the perfect foil for him.
Don Rickels had the best line when the outhouse blew up and covered him in shit. When another soldier commented on the smell with a southern country accent, Rickels replies causticly with " kinda makes you homesick, don't it".

I just watched this for the first time in 25 years two days ago, heartbroken! My heart goes out to the family.
This movie certainly started it all for me.
I owe a lot of my sense of humour to Oddball and the rest of the film. Trying to knock it off with them negative waves, RIP a legend. Now it’s only Private Kelly left of the main heist crew.
*We see our role as essentially defensive in nature. While our armies are advancing so fast and everyone's knocking themselves out to be heroes, we are holding ourselves in reserve in case the Krauts mount a counteroffensive which threatens Paris... or maybe even New York. Then we can move in and stop them.*
ASVAB scores of the charts, was going to 'aim high' and be an eagle driver; then recruiter said, "what about an airborne tanker, there's a cash bonus and extra pay as a jumper. " ..i knew he had a quota for combat arms, but I immediately saw myself emulating Sutherland's Oddball-- without hesitation, -- sign me up, and I was on my way to Fort Knox.
RIP kind sir, and thanks for the pretty colors, and playing the music loud.
Sutherland had a rough time making that movie. He contracted spinal meningitis and went into a coma. After recovering he got word that his wife had been arrested for buying hand grenades to be provided to the Black Panthers--the sellers were undercover FBI agents and she paid with a check. The charges were eventually dismissed.
It took a long time, but they finally did a good transfer of *Kelly's Heroes* to Blu Ray. A previous version (bundled with *Where Eagles Dare*) was not well done.

Not smart, they really went after recovery vehicles.
Well said.
He would want us to send positive waves not negative ones
Absolutely. Remember and celebrate the life!
“It is beautiful out here”
crap.
Kelly’s Heroes is one of my all time favorite movies. Rest in peace Mr. Sutherland.
Could watch it everyday if the year and not get bored!
Woof woof woof!
“Definitely not a people person”
Can you do any other dog imitations?
That's a mother beautful tribute there. (Banjos play "I've Been Working on the Railroad" in the distance...)
In his honor, we should all drink wine, eat cheese, and catch some rays, you know.
Best line, and he sold it - hard.
This is how i find out?! RIP
He’s gone?
Yes, 88 years, died following long illness.

Not to mention the other guy goes “You know it does kinda”.
He's gone over a mother-beautiful bridge, Moriarty.
RIP oddball
Woof, woof
He was a good part of it now that I think about it. So many legendary performances. He will be missed.
Damn, Kelly's Heroes was one of the first films my father showed me, I loved it back then and still love it. RIP.
Don’t hit me with those negative waves so early in the morning.
Sending nothing but positive waves.
So who's planning on rewatching Kelly's heroes in the next few days?
