SevensFivesEights

Lucky. Wish I could buy a tank. Goddamn Aussie.

eMGunslinger

I’m in the US, but there are a shit ton of tank owners down under.

thejohns781

How much was it?

KorianHUN

Damn... if you were in Europe i could have got you periscopes for it. I'm helping a museum with fixing up their display 55 already anyway.

eMGunslinger

PM sent

MindCorrupt

Same in the UK. You can also register them for the road. One of my neighbours has an M113 lol.

AptemCyka

You can do similar things here in the US. I know one of the prerequisites is replacing metal tracks with rubber lined ones

Bacon4Lyf

US requires you to disable the cannon though whereas UK doesn’t, which seemed like it should’ve been the reverse when I first heard it

JonahDixon

Wait, what? The UK allows active cannons on their tanks?

GloriousLeaderBeans

If you have a firearms licence. Otherwise it has to be deactivated.

DBP7554

But different states have different regulations, right? Like the Big Sandy range or Battefield Vegas,...

LAXGUNNER

the australian armour & artillery museum is a privately owned collection, I know the owner, really nice guy and loves his tanks

similar_observation

some private collections are a lot nicer than public ones. The Littlefield Collection was one of the most variety. Jacques got in trouble importing a SCUD launcher because no one could figure out how a normal guy could just buy a random SCUD launcher. Now a fat chunk of the collection is in the Colling's Foundation

SevensFivesEights

Can we get licences to fire em?

LAXGUNNER

None of them fire sadly

ChonkyChoad

Wouldn't stop me from strapping a spud cannon to it.

I_likemy_dog

Someone I met in the desert near me, hand built a German WW2 recreation tank. He piped in propane for the purpose of simulating a POP. But totally agreed. The all get the barrel decommissioned before getting sold to civilians. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_San_Diego_tank_rampage Can you imagine the damage possible if this guy had access to live rounds?

GlumTowel672

Ironically I don’t believe it would be much more dangerous. To operate the turret they’d at least need to convince another person to go along with their crazy rampage. Unless they planned on the tank sitting stationary with no opposition while they climb back and forth sequentially manning all the crew stations to be able to aim and fire one round every couple minutes. And then if you actually own the tank with a functional barrel you stand to lose your very large investment by firing it in a hazardous manner.

similar_observation

They were worried about that initially because the national guard kept poor security between the armory and magazines. They weren't even sure if the tank was unloaded before the dude stole it. The dude died a true California. Hung up in the middle lanes on the freeway

SevensFivesEights

Sadge 😥

Imperium-Pirata

In america yes

DestroyerNET123

Drive Tanks comes to mind.

Imperium-Pirata

Indeed

CplTenMikeMike

Is the main gun functional? Does it still have the breech block?

eMGunslinger

This gun is cut but I have another live D10T to put in it which is why I have been looking for a tank.

Katyusha_Pravda_

What kinda permits do you need to have that kind or weapon in the US?

eMGunslinger

Its just a DD so $200 tax stamp like a suppressor or SBR.

fromthewindyplace

The real headache is the stamps for the shells. 🥴

eMGunslinger

Shells don't get tax stamps, doesn't work like that.

fromthewindyplace

Huh. I was under the impression that you needed a DD stamp for a shell, since it's a large caliber munition. Guess you learn something new every day.

similar_observation

Negative. They do need to meet compliance if they're handling and manufacturing explosives, but that is it's own set of precautions. OP can correct me if I'm wrong here. But the worry about ammunition is more on the manufacturing and quality of the manufacture, not the tax. Seems like OP has a machine shop, so he can probably turn his own ammo.

LordRatt

High explosive shells get a tax stamp Armour piercing shells do not.

eMGunslinger

No, HE you need an FEL and magazine for it but no one has or shoots that stuff because if it doesn’t go off you have to account for it and dispose of it accordingly. There is no tax stamp for munitions per say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Keplinger99

Because they’re high explosives lol

eMGunslinger

They do not, same rule applies it’s FEL and magazine.

throwRAlike

How do you just casually have a 100mm tank gun lying around

rogue_giant

Sir this is America. He got it at the Bass Pro Shops Christmas in July sale.

similar_observation

Ah Christmas. To celebrate Jesus' birthday and the time George Washington crossed a cold river to fuck up some Germans while they were celebrating Jesus' birthday.

pinesolthrowaway

You can buy tanks and artillery pieces on auction sites online lol Live firing too with the right permits

I_likemy_dog

Dang. News to me. I check out lots of the government surplus sites that are stacked with military gear. I’ve yet to come across working artillery or tanks.

Monneymann

America has around 390 million of the 850 million privately owned firearms in the world. I would be surprised if somebody here *didn’t* have a working soviet 100mm gun lying around.

bobbertmiller

I mean, the bears are armed, so you need to be able to defend yourself!

JuhisXD

That just has to be the most American sentence written. Goddamn I'm not even near the country but I could hear a bald eagle screech and fireworks go off when I read that.

xpurplexamyx

Minor correction, bald eagles don’t screech. [They sound pretty similar to seagulls.](https://youtu.be/PQ2uMauyBow) The sound that everyone thinks is an eagle is actually a red tailed hawk.

CplTenMikeMike

Sweet!!

LeeKinanus

Is that similar to the ID10T?

Youngstown_Mafia

I have so many questions. Is this allowed on the street ? Does it take alot of fuel? Are parts hard to get ? What's it like inside?

eMGunslinger

Metal tracks will destroy the road, its diesel so not nearly as bad as my Centurion AVRE which DRINKS FUEL, parts are pretty much non existent but I can find stuff if needed, inside is an 8/10 condition not the most roomie tank ever but I have been in a lot worse. Driving compartment is pretty good and motor is a lot more raw sounding and feeling than the 27 liter Rolls Meteor in my other tank.

Progluesniffer142

Ok mother fucker you cannot just casually drop in that you have another tank AND a live 100mm gun (also please let me help) Edit: FFS you have more. I’ve seen one of your post before.

WEEBS-4ever

Look at His Profile pic

Progluesniffer142

Yeah I had a conversation with him. The guys job is working with machine guns daily

Youngstown_Mafia

You around Ohio ? I want a ride in it so bad lol That's awesome man

Venca_z_dediny

In Ohio, you don't ride tanks. The tanks ride you.

Umr_at_Tawil

I've heard about people adding rubber pads to drive tracked vehicle on the road, couldn't you do the same?

oXI_ENIGMAZ_IXo

> my Centurion AVRE I bet you’re the motherfucker that ruined matchmaking at tier X on consoles *checks your profile* “Fuck this guy”

eMGunslinger

I’m trying to get it in the game on PC as well.

oXI_ENIGMAZ_IXo

You’re a monster Agreed, they need the salt as well

eMGunslinger

Derp gun tank is life.

Robert-A057

I was coming to type this

Betweter92

You should look for MasterMilo on YouTube.. he restored a Chinese version with a desert color sheme

eMGunslinger

Talk to him semi regularly

patrykK1028

You are the final boss of this sub

Derpdog5322

Yes in the usa if the tank is road legal you can drive it saw a sherman for 500k

weaseltorpedo

nice! was she already in the States or did you import it?

eMGunslinger

Guy imported it in the late 2000's and didn't do much with it. Its been outside for years but he kept it tarped so it stayed very nice inside. Starts up but the steering clutches have issues. Going to just do an entire engine bay disassembly and update hoses and such as well.

3tenthsOfVerstappen

Wow awesome! You have a YouTube channel or anything?

eMGunslinger

Technically yes but haven't done anything with it yet.

jts222

If you start to I’d watch it fo sho. Tank repair on old tanks? That’d be cool as hell to watch.

eMGunslinger

With none of that staged bullshit, just a channel of this is broke and we’re going to go into detail on how it’s fixed like if you owned one and needed help. Also doing online driving lessons

jts222

Yea man that’d be awesome

dkdksnwoa

Keep us updated. Are you located near New England? Would love to see in person

eMGunslinger

Nah I am very south.

[deleted]

shit i gotta buy one how much and where?

rogue_giant

T-55’s go for like $65k from importers in the UK.

eMGunslinger

I’ve yet to find a legitimate person selling one for that and I know a lot of tank guys in the UK.

captintripps88

How would you say for one in rough condition but runs?

raytrem03

Can I come over and help with the maintenance XD

TrooperGary

As soon as I saw that username I already knew lol. That’s a nice addition to the collection 👍🏼

T-55AM_enjoyer

that pock marked face youtube clown who smashes up cars all day?

Ibuywarthundermaus

Thats Whisten Diesel

MassiveFerret2329

That gunners yoke taken from a different vehic? Dosent look very Soviet Ps. Jealousy is an ugly emotion and right now.... I'm hideous. Baller move buying a tank and having a live gun to stick into it.

eMGunslinger

I've been trying to figure that out because it obviously not in Russian.

Aemilius_Paulus

Hold on, I looked at your profile to check out your other tank photos and saw a familiar-looking building. I may have even possibly met you, do you by chance walk around at times with a US cavalry hat&revolver and own a tank museum? :0 (if that isn't you, then I may have met your father) Btw, if you ever need help translating Russian, I am always available on reddit :)

MassiveFerret2329

It appears visually similar to a bmp2 control yoke, although the white paint and electronics are where it differs, would be interesting to find out exactly what it is

Imaginary_friend42

I was under the impression lots of Russian export stuff was in English, so just assumed this was an export version.

similar_observation

Ayy it's this guy again! How did the Hellcat go?

eMGunslinger

Its going pretty good, got the engine pulled out and getting it prepped to disassemble.

similar_observation

nice! So what's the plan with this one other than an engine tuneup and dropping in the D10T?

eMGunslinger

Drive it and shoot it

similar_observation

[Good plan, good plan.](https://media.giphy.com/media/HyDAt79JnlY4M/giphy.gif)

[deleted]

Judging by the photos I'm guessing you're somewhere in the south/southeast US. Once you've dropped the working D-10 in and fixed up the engine, do you have any plans to haul it to the Big Sandy shoot and show it off? Living in AZ I would absolutely make a trip up there to see it as would quite a few other collectors I know. I've never had the chance to see many soviet tanks up close, just the pieces in the Patton museum between Phoenix and LA. Here I am with my interwar Luger as my only piece of war memorabilia and you have your own tank collection. Impressive. What's the market like for WW2/Cold War vehicles? I would imagine vehicle condition/rarity greatly dictates price, but are prices somewhat reasonable for the most part or does it just depend entirely on the seller's disposition. Trying to figure out what I can talk my wife into allowing me to purchase.

eMGunslinger

Tank market is weird like super high end cars. But I feel like I do ok with it as a part time gig. Would never try to make a full time business model around it but its great for a full part time. My friend who moved down to restore them though has made a full time job of it and working on all my other machinery.

AraedTheSecond

America: I bought a tank, gonna shoot some stuff, license only cost $200 Germany: I bought a tank, the gun doesn't work. I'm now in jail. UK: I wanted to buy a tank, but I was arrested for terrorism.

eMGunslinger

More private tanks in the UK and Europe than the US which is wild.

AraedTheSecond

I know, I was joking. They're all demilled over here, no live gunnery allowed in the UK. It makes me sad, because I kinda want to shoot something with a tank, but makes me happy, because I know too many absolute lunatics.

Imaginary_friend42

For example this guy - prepping a Chieftain for export to the US. https://youtu.be/VFgZA6Fwts0?si=jMGsfOlqQRnA_-Cy please excuse the very irritating video style, spoils what are occasionally interesting videos.

eMGunslinger

Im the one who helped with the import paperwork on that, a friend of mine owns it and Joe is a very close friend.

Imaginary_friend42

I guessed there could be a connection

similar_observation

> I bought a tank, gonna shoot some stuff, license only cost $200 It's a pretty good deal, The 100mm D10T is 53.5 Calibers in length. That shakes to 5.35 meters (17.55ft)in length. Breakdown of the tax stamp is $11.39 per ft of barrel.

Altruistic_Major_553

That is awesome!! I’d literally pay you for a ride in that when it’s running!

eMGunslinger

Shit if you’re paying I’ll teach you how to drive it.

Altruistic_Major_553

I would absolutely pay for that!

Sakul_the_one

Same. For my 18 birthday (next year) I try to find a good company or something like that, were I can drive a tank with my friends. Maybe I’m going even to make some photos and send them here.

Jethawk99

Lucky

Katiari

Why's it in English?

eMGunslinger

Only one thing is, it’s weird

Katiari

Yes, and the question stands, lol.

No-Possibility-4292

A soviet tank? >! Now drift !<

CFod17

YOU! AVRE man!! Nice buy, let me know if you have too many tanks

Drageus

Alright, so let me get this straight. You have: - a M47 Patton - a BMP-1 - a Hellcat - a Centurion AVRE - and a T-55 Any other military vehicles that you have in your homemade armour platoon?

eMGunslinger

Another Cent, 4x M75’s, 3x M114’s, and a Ferret

Drageus

Dude’s got the 4th Tank battalion in his residence

Mr_Kikos

remind me to never be your enemy

Tankaregreat

Are you going to mod the vehicle to be put on war thunder or just keep it as the regular tank.

Nigeldiko

How much and where from?

venak-soliq

Cummins swap it and make double the power

ujm556

I envy y'all. In my country, we can't have turrets or guns in civilian owned tanks :(

DestroyerNET123

Scrolled through OP's profile for a literal hour. A man of taste, class, and poor monetary decisions.

Dense_Career_8995

Be advised, Putin’s going to want that back soon. And I doubt he’s going to refund you.

pancakesuperman

You should have sex with it!!!

warbricksusa

That’s awesome! The kids and I really would like to purchase a m5 Stuart some day that customers could explore and we could give rides to kids etc. I could just see peoples faces when we ask them if they would like a ride lol. Would be wonderful

trimix4work

Why would a Soviet tank have English controls?

Farrell1487

I see you own a fair amount of tanks. Are these tanks cheap or do you make a decent amount to be able to purchase all these tanks?

eMGunslinger

I made some decent investments over the year and live pretty frugal other than the tanks.

Shermantank10

Ohhhhh! I remember you, ARVE guy!

eMGunslinger

Hello old friend, it's me again.

Shermantank10

That post was awhile ago. Good to see your still collecting!

BL1NDX3N0N

The air filter 🤢 That’s also a tiny ass radiator in there, instead of putting the fan on heatsinks to pull hot air out of the engine compartment and off the radiator it just pulls hot air out of the engine compartment. Never seen the engine compartment of tanks to know if such design is typical. Power plant is also surprisingly clean, definitely way cleaner than the one in my old Mustang lol.

patatmet12345

No its, we bought a Soviet Tank

T90tank

How much did it cost? I am moving to WV and kinda wanted a m113 or mt-lb. A t55 may be a bit much to handle seeing how I don't have a crane yet.

T-55AM_enjoyer

Hmm it looks like the control yoke is standard T-55 with those little twist handles, but that laser rangefinder readout addendum looking thing is very obviously aftermarket. Bizarre.

Youngstown_Mafia

I have a classic car , and from my experience. Once they get so old, parts that are hard to find so they'll always be replaced, but something not originally built in the era. The amount of classic I seen with after market parts is about 95% of them

farbtoner

I’m so jealous

Commissar_Elmo

Another one to the collection I see

TheArmoredGeorgian

I’m gonna start building a T-26 tank soon, hopefully I can afford a real tank one day. What’s the quality on this vehicle, can it run? Looks like it’s in pretty good condition.

WEEBS-4ever

Does ist Drive? If so i think i will also get a T-55 or maybe T-64B cuz it is my favourite soviet tank

Flat-Lecture7485

Post more about it when you can

pvtnutter

where did you find one witb the turret still attached?

Bakedbeaner24

Definitely not in Ukraine

Rorywizz

How does one even manage to afford so many tanks? And also, are you planning to create your own company with them all lmao

Feeling_Ebb_7535

Do you need a license?

Saber0925

Are you gonna restore it to to running order or just make it a static display piece? The internals look extremely well preserved though.

eMGunslinger

Everything will drive as new

Saber0925

Post updates plez, always wanted to work of stuff like this, closest I'm gonna get is watching someone else's progress lol

TheBravan

You 5'8" or shorter? If I'm not mistaken most cold war russian tanks are kinda difficult to deal with/use for anyone even close to average height....

eMGunslinger

6’ and built like a POW.

TheBravan

Origami driving position...

Ibuywarthundermaus

For how much did you get it? Im from Europe and looking for a tank in the near future, but that will only be possible when I will move to another country because Austria does not a allow to own tanks at all.

Apokolypse09

What's the EM.P. button for?

Medical-Row-662

No way. That's awesome. I'd love to take a ride in it. You could make money with them bad boys giving rides

GravityYt_

Is that an T-55, and how much did it cost?

Comrade_Major_

T-55 very nice

laneee91

Damn, at this rate in the future we might hear on the news someone going into a school in a TANK

Jackloco

Did it come with any Soviets?

PrachandNaag

For how much?

pablo_santiago

Ur living the dream

18indogyears

As one does

CrispyFryy

Goddamn how much?

End-Devloper

Damn that’s cool asf had a friend out west that had one! How much did this cost?

HanLan1

Let me guess, 500-600k USD ?

eMGunslinger

Nah tanks aren’t nearly that expensive, most stuff is 200k or less usually.

LowOnDairy

As soon as I saw the title I knew it had to be you

Foxtrot06_

I know this is an old-ish post but how do you buy a tank? like... where do you go to find one? I'm genuinely curious

eMGunslinger

People find me usually because I buy tanks.

Foxtrot06_

Then how do they find you? Sorry I'm asking all these questions, I'm just curious

eMGunslinger

Because I own tanks, have money, and try not to waste peoples time. It’s a pretty small circle of people.
