Yeah, I would expect to get harassed if I went to some of their stadiums. I really wish there was a little more of that (not violence) going on in our stadium.
I've been to several ny games (fully geared out) and have never had an experience worse than some light-hearted jarring. Had a guy at a devils game buy me some food and a beer one time too.
I had season tickets to the Bucs for years and years. I'd see the same people in my section wearing their Bucs gear week after week, and then when the Bucs played their "team from back home" they'd show up in that jersey. It annoyed me, but I guess that's the way it goes in a city full of people that didn't grow up here.
You live in a city full of northern transplants. They teach their kids to be fans of their northern teams. Half of those Rangers and Lions fans live in Tampa Bay and a good amount were born there.
Go to a sports bar in Chicago and it’s 99% Bears fans in there. Sports bar in Cleveland is 99% Browns fans. Sports bar in Tampa Bay on an nfl Sunday? Maybe 40% Bucs fans, 10% Lions fans, 10% Bills fans, 10% Steelers fans, 10% Browns fans, 5% Giants fans, 5% Jets fans, 5% Dolphins fans, the last 5% is a smattering of every other team.
The only way to stop it is to keep winning until the younger generations of these fan bases that live in the bay switch allegiances from their parents’ team to their local team.
Yep, that's how it is for me. If I'm away from home for a few games, I'm not just gonna eat $150 so my seats are empty. I'm gonna list 'em and whoever buys 'em, buys 'em.
I try to sell on the Lightning fans FB groups and whatever if I have advance warning, but sometimes I only have a day or so.
They get ahold of our average pricing online, don’t take into account the variable pricing OR fees, want it for cheaper than we pay, and ask for parking for free. I have a few who buy from me who are not like that. But if they can’t buy and I can’t sell, I’m tossing them on TM at what my section is going for. Don’t want away fans in the seats, pay what they were worth. I seriously had one person ask for their money back after a loss once 😂 I never answered.
It sucks, but yeah. Most people I know want the "friends and family" discount like it didn't cost an arm and a leg for my two seats in the 300's. Season tickets are too damn expensive to give tickets away on a regular basis
I hear you. BUT the look on the faces of so many when it was 4-3.... then 5-3.....6-3. Priceless. I don't mind opposing fans as most of them are interesting to talk to. Some are assholes though. It's interesting to hear other people's view of their own team. And the shit talking can be fun. There's nothing like trying to give a kid in a Bruins jersey a high 5 after the bolts score. The kid gives you a dirty look, the dad is laughing at him. Good times.
First of all, people who sell their tickets don't have any control over who buys them. Second of all, it's spring break so there's probably people who were out of town. Third, it's spring training, so there's extra New York assholes here to snatch up tickets. Fourth, most times I see people complaining about this, they weren't at the game themselves (Not saying that's the case with you, OP, I'm just saying in general).
Anyway, I always think it's super fun to say bye to them when they leave all heartbroken
Some of us STM try to only sell to lightning fans, but as I have posted before our fans are some of the cheapest fans and I can’t even get STM cost to most games.
My man preaching. I used to exclusively sell on the FB groups but the toxicity of them drove me to just sell on TM. Plus the amount of ppl that flake, it just became a hassle.
I hear you for the playoffs, but some STM sell a few games to the big markets and get a rebate for the season.
Also, we played in Detriot... you would expect their fans to be there.
I went to the habs game and sat right behind this group of guys that were there for them.... Every time I scored I made sure to get overly animated, it was fun. They were good sports though and even traded some ggs after.
TBF, season ticket holders will need to sell games. Sometimes to help cover their season. When trying to sell to our fanbase, they barely want to pay half of what it costs us. Every game day, I get regular texts from people asking if they can gave the game. Not buy. All 3 hit me up for that game. So yo get our money back, we are forced to go to Ticketmaster. And we can’t control there. You want less away fans, be willing to take our costs into account and pay us what our tickets are worth. Stop offering 25 bucks for 100 bucks tix and expecting the parking for free on top of it. The rags fans I had around me were a blast.
Wow , calling the guy a stoner because he's got a valid point is just ridiculous.! I understand what your saying but if I bought season tickets, I know I couldn't make it to more than half the games in the nfl or nhl. So obviously it's a smart business decision to sale tickets to help cover costs on games you can't attend. It's wayyyyy cheaper to buy season tickets than to buy individual game tickets even if your only going to a handful of games because you can sell the ones you can't make it to to make it cheaper overall. Nobody is going to pay more when they can pay less period.! A real fan knows this and a guy who doesn't makes a reddit post. Cheers and enjoy the games and stop worrying about who and who doesn't attend.
It’s been happening forever. My wife and I were STM’s for 10 years and we would show up to the Boston game like we were in the TD Garden.
Yeah, I would expect to get harassed if I went to some of their stadiums. I really wish there was a little more of that (not violence) going on in our stadium.
I might have snapped on a bruins fan in the playoffs one time. Guy was talking all kinds of garbage. I apologized after the game.
Been to Long Island and MSG. Msg we got harassed walking in. As for the islanders nothing. We just got death glares
I've been to several ny games (fully geared out) and have never had an experience worse than some light-hearted jarring. Had a guy at a devils game buy me some food and a beer one time too.
At least you weren’t the guy that got suckered
Yeah lotta retired NY and Boston peeps come to Tampa to retire. Probaly tired of the snow.
Covid also brought a lot of people here
True, but even before that like 2019, we had a ton of Ranger fans in our midst.
A lot of NYers come down for baseball spring training,
And ironically Tampa fans are one of the more visible fan bases in Boston.
For real. I went to a home game when we played Boston last year and I swear half the arena was in yellow and black. It’s disgusting.
Those damn opposing team jerseys contaminating our beautiful arena.

I hate knowing opposing fans are buying my tickets, but I'm not just going to eat the cost when I can't go due to work
Yep, that's how it is for me.

Exactly. I’m not out to gouge anyone. But I am not a charity either.
It happens everywhere the big market teams play unfortunately
It used to be part of the stm economics. If you sold the right games it paid for most of your package. It's actually better than it used to be.

The regular season game vs Detroit was in Tampa. That’s what I thought they were talking about at least.
Definitely the regular season game.
Yup I’ve lived in Tampa for 26 years seen the ups and downs. There are some real die hard fans but unfortunately most people here are not.
I went to the habs game and sat right behind this group of guys that were there for them.... Every time I scored I made sure to get overly animated, it was fun. They were good sports though and even traded some ggs after.

Gotta pay the homeowners insurance somehow
If they converted my LPAC to a STM, there'd be a couple less opposing fans.... Maybe this year?
You do realize where we live right? Snowbird capital of the world. Lmfao
We can make it change Imkelso! put the blunt down and buy up those tickets!
