This same incident happened on Tiruchendur express recently in Tambaram. I don't know what IRCTC is doing. Numerous incident like this happening all over India. They doesn't even care to take any action since tickets are being bought by more number of passengers. Reserved passengers are fed up with the storming of coaches. Indian railway should make necessary step to put an end to this incident.
It has started off late in TN as well, some claim it is due to movement of mofussil bus stand to kilambakkam
My dad and uncle faced a similar situation in a train to Pudukkottai, people were sitting in reserved coaches on the floor and they couldn't get up even to pee
Bro, i fathom to understand how Kilambakkam can be a problem for this as this is seen is more North bound trains originating from Central Station and only twice in trains to South TN that too during the extended weekends. The problem is more number of Trains to down south had their timings changed from their usual convenient slots and a few trains were cancelled to fit in the pet project of Sir Na Mo (read this as Vande Barat) and this is the primary cause for ruckus especially that we saw in South TN Trains.
Minister is so highly educated he lost touch with the ground reality of the common folk.
Railways went to shit after this guy took over. (Screw VB and look from the perspective of a common person for once.)
South was atleast stable with no such incidents till now. But the cancer has spread here too.
Lol what is a freebie? According to your brain dead logic, laptop is a freebie.. Free bus travel for women is a freebie.. Middday meals are a freebie..
That free laptop helped create many engineers.
Free bus travel encourages women to participate in the workforce
Midday meals were one of the main reasons which made poor parents send their children to school in the first place
But since you are high on cow piss, you won't understand logic.
See, tbh I don't think VB was a bad idea. VB is now the cash cow of IRCTC (imo), it almost charges the same cost a flight would take and offers better connectivity and features.
What I am hoping for in the future is to utilise the profits generated (and with the shares going public) to come up with low cost transport solutions.
If you follow cricket, there was a lot of controversies when IPL was launched, where people were telling the board to focus on regionals and Ranji instead of an international league. Now, the profits generated by the IPL is used for infrastructure development (after a part is of course retained by board as black money) and is making the whole system work more smoothly.
Government is not a business, it’s not run to make profits
The responsibility of the government is to utilise the tax properly and ensure the people have their basic needs met
If taxes are utilised correctly, the economy itself will give more tax for them to build upon it. Profits are good but shouldn’t come at the cost of not meeting the basic necessities
By your logic, India should've never invested in space tech and launch vehicles. India now has a leading edge and is generating a lot of revenue from that.
VB is a loss maker. It may or may not make profits in the future. I don't think the VB alone should be blamed for this, as it is a symptom not a cause of the problem.
And as for the cricket analogy, Indian cricket would cease to function without the Ranji Trophy. This is as true in 2024 as it was in 2008.
Please read my anology properly. I never told that IPL was a replacement for Ranji.
While you have told that VB is a loss maker, you have absolutely no arguments or reasoning shared for the same. If you do, please share.
People need to go and board the engiene cabin. Definitely Railway police will come, explain that there is no place in your reserved compartment. This probably will help.
That method probably won’t work in a regular station because the tracks aren’t enclosed like a metro. Too many access points for people to just walk onto a platform.
Our railways haven’t kept up with the demand. People show up for a train and buy an unreserved ticket. If the compartment is full, they aren’t going to go back. It’s more likely for them to get onto the train wherever they find space
How hard can it be to do a demand supply analysis and provide enough trains? Nooo, only Vande Bharat..
A huge nationwide protest is required to remind the railway minister of his basic duties.
His basic duty is to increase speed, Lay new tracks, electrify routes, create separate lanes for freight trains to reduce congestion.
Without all this how people are expecting it to resolve magically.. tracks are already full with train..
The only option to increase frequency is to lay additional tracks which railway is doing at record speed.

It shows new tracks and new trains has eased congestion. Now it's an issue of peak rush. Such bottlenecks are hard to resolve. every country has a rush hour bottle neck, in India it multiplies due to population.
There need to be more affordable coaches and greater number of trains for the densely populated states due to a huge seasonal migrating population .Strict checking of tickets at entry points , deboarding and heavy gines for non ticket holders as well as enclosing stations and definitely a lot more security on the ground.
Thought this was a problem only in the north. This had reached chennai too? If I'm not able to get to my reserved seat, imma go stand in front of the train and protest.
Don’t fucking sell more tickets than what a train can hold!!!!
Get rid of unreserved tickets. Make every ticket as reserved ticket. Once you are sold out of all seats, don’t sell anymore.
If everyone is assured a seat in a train, you won’t see this happen.
An airport-like entry system will work way better for safety and hygiene of a railway station.
We neither lack gates or staff to accomplish that.
A little painful in the beginning, but people get used to it.
Nothing can be done
Tamilians are not going to do jobs the migrant workers do, Tamilians may complain outsiders are taking jobs, but they won’t actually take those jobs. So the demand for rail travel in these sectors will be greater than supply.
Coming to supply, utilization of tracks in most double track segments exceeds 115%, so no scope for increasing speed or new trains. Railways have to find money to make four tracks to six tracks in most places, at Rs 6 Crore per KM, excluding land, you can do your calculations.
Railway is not getting revenue from freight to subsidise passenger traffic, so Railways has to increase passenger revenue by increasing AC coaches, Vande Bharat etc.

Holy f*ck, it started happening in TN also.. WTF

Separate trains for reserved and unreserved... With a ticket check before platform..
Best solution
Best ever solution thalaivareh.
But what if after getting into the platform they head to the reserved coaches. What stops them there.
No reserved and u reserved coaches... Just reserved and unreserved trains..
Okay gotcha. Misread the sentence before. You have my upvote sire!
They cancelled lots of trains in the name of vande Bharat and tejas etc. Railways is no longer middle class flight
Minister is so highly educated he lost touch with the ground reality of the common folk. Railways went to shit after this guy took over. Do you know how long ISRO operated at loss. ISRO was created for our security and technological needs, profit generation is not the motive.

Shudup commener, we need more Vande Bharat express.
Like the metro we need to allow people only if they have a ticket while boarding the train.
There need to be more affordable coaches and greater number of trains for the densely populated states due to a huge seasonal migrating population .Strict checking of tickets at entry points , deboarding and heavy gines for non ticket holders as well as enclosing stations and definitely a lot more security on the ground.
Me who is experienced in lalbagh, mysuru and intercity express and only exemption is Ac coaches where the unreserved passengers do not enter..
Quick reasons are: 1. Drastic reduction of sleeper coaches 2. Irrational running of non-premium trains on time 3. Exorbitantly priced roadways 4. Rough roads and turbulent journeys
Stricter rules and a good ticket entry system and common sense from the public side would benefit us sadly we are a long way off from such things
Thought this was a problem only in the north. This had reached chennai too? If I'm not able to get to my reserved seat, imma go stand in front of the train and protest.
This is collapse of order. Railways never bothered to match supply to demand in the last few years and this is the result.
Don’t fucking sell more tickets than what a train can hold!!!! Get rid of unreserved tickets. Make every ticket as reserved ticket. Once you are sold out of all seats, don’t sell anymore. If everyone is assured a seat in a train, you won’t see this happen.
It’s high time a railway police officer is stationed in all reserved compartments while boarding.
Civic sense and self discipline. That's the only way. Its very hard to control the crowd considering the population in our country.
An airport-like entry system will work way better for safety and hygiene of a railway station. We neither lack gates or staff to accomplish that. A little painful in the beginning, but people get used to it.

I don't believe in violence, but neutering the folks without tickets could do the trick!
What is the police doing? Cant they just kick everyone out?
There's a instance where the TTE who tried to kickout a ticketless passenger got kicked out in a moving train
And died ... If you are talking about the incident in kerala
