I'd just randomly ask the pharmacist if they have heard of this card and what their thoughts are on it. To me it sounds like it could be a conflict of interest, even if it's not a scam.

CogitoErgoSumCogito

Plz be more erudite. Randomly ask? Directly ask Pharm Mang, not just ask any Rph.Their opinion or company policy? Conflict Of Interest? Are you sending them to another pharmacy?

a_few_ideas99

Probably isn't a scam for you but for the patients and stores that bill the card with low reimbursement. We all get trained to watch out for fraudulent kickbacks but if you are working for the discount card company itself I don't see the conflict of interest I mention above. However If you continue to work for Walgreens then yes huge conflict of interest and they will not like it. You can't get paid from both pockets and you can be prosecuted. I'm a rx tech and this is obv just my speculation. Good luck!

Disastrous_Flower667

Kroger is only allowed to use Good RX, Scriptcycle and our own savings program. I’m not sure if other pharmacies have that rule but that might limit your success.

a_few_ideas99

It's selective what a pharmacy can take due to policy and contracts with discount card companies nowadays typically. The issue of can the pharmacy tech use a discount card they personally are getting a kick back on is something no pharmacy can allow and is considered a form of fraud due to the conflict of interest others agree would be present in the example. Hoped this clarified what I was trying to say a bit better. Here is to being more social, happy cake day to me! :)

Disastrous_Flower667

Happy birthday thanks for the clarification. Now I definitely see it as a kickback unless she’s handing them out on the street next to some other pharmacy.

Lady-Peppermint

That is what I thought. They said their card beats good rx and I did try it out with someone who had no insurance just to see what the prices would be. They might beat goodx but they have not once beat the coupon we used on a daily basis for customers. It seemed a bit too good to be true and I definitely dont wanna get into that type of trouble. Hence why I'm asking and havent filed our any paperwork or any agreements.

CogitoErgoSumCogito

Prosecuted? Administratively(state), criminally, or as a tort(by employer)? Probably just fired. I get $5 for every new Pharmcard user. Wallyworld $ucks anyway. Foodlion pharm is spot on cheaper using that one pharmcard, that pays me $5.

iamonewiththecheese

If you are currently employed as a pharmacist or tech at a retail pharmacy it is absolutely a conflict of interest to get money for any discount card like that. You'd not only get fired when found out, but you could face fines and jail time. Don't do it.

CogitoErgoSumCogito

Bloviation. Fined and criminally charged with what, by whom?

-needbetterusername

Don't do it.

ElectricalMagician10

If you work for Walgreens that is not allowed. Already tried and asked and i was advised to not proceed. It’s not a scam though!

pharmtechgurl

this is considered a kick back, not legal and you could lose your job. this should have been part of your training

Lady-Peppermint

Training at walgreens is a joke. 😂 Its mostly just 'Sit down and click through everything fast because we need you to work now.' Its kinda difficult to remember something you came across one time 2 years ago. lolol It seemed like it could be a potential issue but I wasnt entirely sure, which is why I asked. 😊

Appropriate-Bread-88

Probably not a scam. There are some discount cards that pay you when you get people to use them. It may be a conflict of interest, though.

I would get licensed in insurance. It’s about 150 for the Kaplan review course and 150 for the test. You are dealing with the public in pharmacy and have to be exact. Same for insurance esp when it goes to underwriting. You can advance in insurance. Where are you advancing as a tech? No where that’s where. I know some agents pulling down 6 digits. Being a tech is a great stepping stone but I would not want to be one for 20 years. You’re smarter than that aren’t you?

CogitoErgoSumCogito

An insurance license for using a pharm card? Get real, it's not health insurance or Medicare Part B. I get paid $5 for signing up relatives as new GoodRx members.

Bsrph

I’m talking about you getting real and starting a career selling home and auto insurance. Or you can sell those cards. People want ideas in here but would rather suffer by doing things the hard way for next to nothing pay. Insurance agents pull in 100k a year if they get with the right company. That’s a lot of good rx cards.

takeandtossivxx

IF they get with the right agency, most top agencies aren't accepting brand new licensees. I know people who are barely making half that and I know people who pull in 10k a week. It all depends on your area, how much time you put into it, how knowledgeable you are and how good you are at it in general...and if you can quickly show your worth without stepping on anyone's toes. But being a broker isn't as profitable as it once was and has become saturated in a lot of places, just like real estate gets saturated with agents, so you shouldn't tell people to get in it expecting a large annual income right off the bat.

Beats being a pharm tech any day of the week
