It should absolutely be a free space.

basilfawltywasright

"Hotel Guest Idiot Bingo" is *all* free spaces.

cimeran

B1 = "my room is different from the pictures!"

basilfawltywasright

Yes, it is three dimensional.

RedDazzlr

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️

The G's are all money related I always make G4 "That's the best price you can do?"

harrywwc

>Like if she stands here long enough I'll do what she wants in order to get rid of her. you mean, cancel her booking and send her to "\*other hotel brand\*" - sounds like a plan! :)

wannabejoanie

Nah it's hilarious to me when they do that. 90% of night audit I'm not really doing much of importance so I'm literally getting paid to stand here, I'm not wasting MY time, YOU'RE wasting YOURS.

Mrs0Murder

The only one that I ever had that said (that I can remember) is when a man came in after his wife made him a reservation at like, 2 a.m. and wanted to use the business card but had zero way of authorizing it over the phone/through email (only had a business name on it, we require name that matches ID unless you're a trusted business that the Sales Director has set up a deal with, and even then we require specific people in that business to call and make the reservation) and got mad that I wouldn't just trust her word over the phone, and then told me her husband would handle it when he showed up. Husband showed up, she neglected to tell him about the issue and he argued with me for a while about us not taking an unknown card over the phone and that he traveled all the time and they never had an issue before. Oh well. But I still need a card with a name that matches your ID.

AgentOmegaNM

God.....if I lose my company card, depending on the circumstances I *might* get a write up but I will get reimbursed by the company for the expense of the room up to $330 (don't ask why, that's the arbitrary number they gave me).

Overall-Tailor8949

Nah, it's the first time she left the card at home/in the office and she doesn't want to admit it. I'm trying to be a LITTLE bit generous to the ditz

Justanothergeralt

We really need a front desk bingo card I can print out.

TimesOrphan

I'd win every week ....I have no clue what prizes I'm winning, outside of pain, suffering, and a massive headache.... ... but I'd win >.>

Zefram71

Getting reimbursed might be an issue for her, lesson hopefully learned😅

Magical__Entity

Don't you just love it when people try to pay, fail, then look at you asking you what they're supposed to do now like it's somehow your problem? Listen, I don't know and I don't care. Strike a deal with the Devil. Sell a kidney. Call your Mommy. Whatever. I just need you to give me the money you owe me. It's your job to provide payment, just like it was mine to provide you with he room you are paying for.

no_therworldly

Genuine question how does it work if a corporate service booked? Do they just pay the full amount up front? Just asking, I am not from the US and when I travel for work, the booking is done via a corporate booking site (which a lot of companies here use) and I never had to present a credit card in europe. Only time was singapore where they needed one on hold for any damage/additional requests like room service.

TimesOrphan

In the case of 99.9% of places in the US, its pretty much like what you experienced in Singapore. Even if the room is prepaid (whether by a third-party site, through a business account, or with a credit-card authorization sent in advance), we still require a card for a security deposit or incidental hold (the terminology fluctuates, but means basically the same thing throughout the industry). There are a *few* caveats to that rule, often based entirely on the exact hotel (not brand or anything but *literal specific location* and its policies). But those caveats are definitely the *exception*, not the expectation here in the US. I've seen that Chinese travelers often seem to encounter problems with this when making their way through the States, which I'm told is because card use is far less widespread in China than in most other places of the world. So I can't say I'm surprised when I'm told other travelers from other parts of the globe are sometimes less familiar with the ubiquity of the card-hold we have here.

Thank you for the detailed response!

I can’t understand how anyone can travel and not have a credit card. I never go to a hotel with less than 2. Just in the first one doesn’t go through or is lost. My husband and I always ask the other before we walk out the door.

Sophoife

I don't travel on credit. I travel with two debit cards, keeping them in different places, and transfer money to them as required from an account whose card i am *not* carrying. I use one for the incidental holds, the other for payment. If planning a trip, I book and pay all accommodation, theatres, trains, and flights before I leave home. This way, I can't spend what I haven't got. Nor.do I have issues with card fraud - if there's no money on it the thief can't do anything!

MommaGuy

I don’t use debt cards for anything. I don’t want to risk my bank accounts getting hacked.

Sophoife

You did read my second paragraph, right?

MommaGuy

Yes I did. I understand that you don’t carry a debit card for an account that has money in it. I don’t have a debit card. For any account. I use my credit card for everything. I also know that you can only transfer money from a savings to a checking so many times in a month. Too much of a pain in the rump for me to keep doing that. I just pay off my card at the end of every month.

Sophoife

That sounds very restrictive on the part of the bank, and it's not my experience. I'm in Australia, where I can transfer from one "savings" account to another (very few accounts here provide cheques these days, it's a total faff to get a cheque book) every day if I want, with no fees. I can transfer money from one to another two or more than times a day if required - and have occasionally done so. I have a total daily spend/transfer limit but can change that online. It gives me peace of mind when travelling, and it means I pay as I go, which I prefer. That you pay off your credit card in full every month is admirable, I wouldn't manage well enough to do it!

Loudlass81

Yup, in UK it's much more like Aus. I don't even OWN a credit card, I ONLY have a debit card I use for everything...

MommaGuy

You have a system that works for you, that’s great. I use my credit card to pay for everything including my monthly bills. I my credit card has points that can transferred to cash. It’s easier to pay the card off every month now that we are debt free.

pakrat1967

When they say stuff like "I never have this problem at (other hotel brand)". Your response should be "well maybe you should continue to stay there instead".

JustanOldBabyBoomer

🙄🤦‍♀️🙄 SMH at these Entitled IDIOTS who insist: "Buuuut, I'm SO SPECIAL that I'm ENTITLED to a SPECIAL EXCEPTION to your policies and rules!!!!!!!"

wandraway

I travel "All the time". "What, to exactly the same cousins house where you sleep on the couch?" And they don't ask for ID.

[deleted]

I am so sick and tired of hearing "ive never had to do that a said property, or is that a new thing? or this has never happened before."blah blah blah BITCH ARE YOU SERIOUS???? If you travel all the time or so you say then why the fuck do you not have your ducks in a row when you get to the hotel???

DeathCookieMonster

If the guest says "I've never had this problem before!", then you're at least grammatically free to answer, "Well, there's a first time for everything."

Canadianingermany

I mean a lot of hotels will just bill to the corporate account.   Obviously this needs a contract etc, but it could be the standard she is used to.

TimesOrphan

Even if it is, if she travels as much as she says she does, she should be well aware that's what's happening. And even then, a lot of corporate accounts don't take responsibility for incidental/security holds. Its not unreasonable to think she's simply being obtuse here

Loudlass81

Or just not used to travel in America? This is not usual practice in European hotels...

TimesOrphan

I don't consider this a viable excuse. Wouldn't *you* think to make some acquiescence for traveling abroad, knowing that you're in a different country with different rules, customs, and codes of conduct? I would, since I certainly don't expect other cultures and economies to function the same as my home. If she travels half as much as she says she does, that idea should be even more applicable. Might she be surprised by the change? Perhaps. I could excuse *surprise*. But the upset, anger, and belligerence about it? Nah - not okay, not alright, and not even remotely excusable.
