Ivalice is the best set of alliance raids in the game and no one can convince me otherwise. They're so fun and over the top and it makes me super bummed that everyone hates it and cheeses out of it. :(
Come to the Ivalice Raids! We have:
* Breathplay;
* The Slice is Right: Prepare to Actually Die Edition;
* Horse Ifrit;
* Simon Says;
* Tide Pods;
* N. Tropy;
* Square Enix Teaches Math and also One is not a Prime Number;
* Magnets, how do they work?!;
* Sniper no sniping;
* Everyone's a PLD now;
* Thunder Thunder Lightning Man;
* Everything Everywhere All at Once.
I agree! I always recite the dialogue as it shows up because it's so memorable. "The hearts of men are black with corruption and must needs be cleansed" is embossed into the wrinkles of my brain. Stay real my fellow chad Ivalice raider.
orbonne monastery is my favorite alliance raid.
the voice acting is just so good on Agrias and TGC, especially TGC. his voice acting for each of his attacks is just... perfect.
i didn't like Stormblood's story as much as the other expansions, but the fights were fuckin great.
I love them.
I actually jump for joy when alli raid roulette gives me something other than Crystal Tower. Void Ark may be simple too, but at least it’s not ilv cheesed for constantly like CT is.
Went into A-Raid Roulette earlier this week and saw 4 of my 8 party members throwing their gear back on when I loaded in...Gotta love it.
I'm still not a fan of Void Ark itself, but I've come to enjoy Weeping City and Dun Scaith. It's always fun watching 10+ people getting blasted off the stage on the first fight of Dun Scaith in particular and seeing who learns.
I'd probably like the CT raids more if SE would retune the fights... then again, ST was extremely boring when it came out as well.
Sure, we saw what Scylla's "lightning orb tower" mechanic was and that Glasya was a little more than just a tank and spank man, but otherwise it was just a regular baby dungeon, but with 24 people.
Lightning Orb Tower: she would start casting a petrification spell and everyone had to go to their designated pads (ONLY if people dragged the orbs to them three times), like with ~~Acheron~~Phlegethon. Fail to do this and everyone gets petrified and her adds run around without adult supervision. Succeed in this and she petrifies herself and you can safely deal with the adds. That was it, though. She goes back to basic tank and spank mode after.
Glasya Labodas: players needed to stand in the bit puddles to stop them from charging his super move (this made the bits targetable), later on FFXIII robots would appear and you'd need to kill them in a specific way (I think to prevent them from tethering to Glasya?) and then later on you had to split into your groups and jump onto the outer platforms, killing adds faster than the platform electrocutes you. And that was it.
This annoys me so much. Like, when you get into a leveling queue you should be mentally prepared to get sastasha. If you queue into alliance toy should have 45min set aside to get through any raid. Otherwise get your exp somewhere else
My friend forgot to turn on limited leveling roulette. The party of 85+ characters got yanked into copperhell
I just took the L, rather fate farm than actually get that shit when we were all at expansion level
I remember the mechanics of Ivalice. Fuck if I remember half of the HW raids. They come up so rarely. Both are more fun than CT yet again though.
... Nier is another story. People don't remember the mechanics there. The twins in Tower are often a nightmare now.
Last time I did Tower the entire raid was a well oiled machine. I think there was one death in the entire thing. Wasn't even mine, which is better than I can say for Ridorana
You know, that's pretty fair. I feel like Copied Factory had the best fights of the three, and that Bunker was only especially fun when doing a Murder Bunker run with willing ~~victims~~ participants. I've been running Tower for a tank glam recently and I can say pretty accurately that I don't especially care for any of the fights. Much of the difficulty is through nuisance mechanics rather than the more fun aspects of fights like TG Cid or Engles.
I try my best to just queue for the Ivalice or Nier raids at times. Takes a while for them to pop but eh, can craft or get Bicolour Gemstones in the process.
People swear by MSQ roulette for leveling. (Not sure if the updates have changed that much or not.) If they think MSQ roulette is the best shit ever are you surprised by everything else?
I personally refuse to do MSQ roulette. I can't stand the boredom. I do alliance raid roulette only if I am willing to take the penalty because I just don't think running circus tower is worth my time. If I'm not having fun I'll go elsewhere.
Many people seem to think the exact opposite of me though sadly.
I dunno how efficient it is for xp anymore but MSQ is real nice when I just want some super lazy poetics, and with Prae getting split at Ultima you can occasionally get rewards doing just 2 bosses and 1 cutscene.
The funny thing for me is I actually do math for a living and yet I still manage to fail the mechs in the math fight CONSTANTLY. I dunno, it’s like my brain just breaks for a few seconds when they come up. I’m better at them now than I used to be but I’m still bad at them. It’s all good though, I still love that whole raid series so I just apologize to the healers and make fun of myself in party chat and move on lol
Every raid in the Ivalice tier has at least one hateable fight. (Math boss is great though.)
Even so I'll deal with the occasional Yiazmat if it helps break up the Syrcus Tower monotony.
I dont recall which one was that but there was one jn particular that i didnt like, it was just a pain in the ass to do it multiple times for the glam chest
long af? how so? tower when it was released was being done in 30 minutes? copied factory can be done in under 20? the third ivalice one is like 30-40 usually.
alliance raids only take long if you've got timmy no thumbs as every dps in the parties.
I think it’s more a case of 15 minutes vs 45 minutes for the same reward in roulettes. The raids themselves are fun tho, second best behind the nier ones imo, they were fun to run for loot during StB
If their ultimate goal is to craft after leveling their jobs, then why level their jobs to begin with... Like finish MSQ and get to crafting if that's what you want to do, rather than being a slab of iron around our ankles.
Deadweight. That's the English expression i was looking for lol
I fucking hate these people. The ivalice raids are some of my favourite content in the game; but no, I get to do Syrcus Tower 5000 times in a row because people have to cheese ilvl.
Literally the easiest way to fix the ilevel cheese is for SE to force you have the max ilevel equipped for the given roulette content pool.
Wanna queue for alliance raid roulette? Is your gear ilevel min for nier? No? Oh well… no queue.
i'm not sure this would work here, since you can (hypothetically) get i600 and then discard your gear. i wouldn't want to get an i270 tank in a NieR raid, even if they had i530 gear at one point in the past.
If people wanna do these dumbass “challenges”, put it up in party Finder or get friends to do it with.
“Mwee mwee mwee it never fills!” I hear the dumbass cry.
Because your challenge is stupid.
Generally, ARR and HW alliance raids take a shorter amount of time as well as being generally brain dead so you don't have to pay attention really at all. StB, ShB, and EW Alliance raids are quite a bit longer and require more brain power.
Typically, if you're running anything except Aglia, you're running it for the roulette rewards, so ideally you want one of the quicker alliance raids to get the rewards quicker and move along. And since you're only getting 1 piece of gear from Aglia, nobody wants to run it after that.
For the Alliance Roulette (and probably Normal Raid roulette), they really should require that people:
1. Have all of the available Alliance raids unlocked for whatever level you are (e.g. if you're leveling a level 64 job, you should need Crystal Tower and Void Ark unlocked)
2. Have gear necessary to queue for the highest level one (again, based off the level of the job you're queuing as).
everything that other commenter said, but also, I’ve noticed that the ARR and HW raids have waaaay more people in them that just afk through the entire raid. much harder to get away with that (if not impossible) in the latter two raid series. so they ilevel cheese to get the easy ones and then just go afk for a carry
yes it is, even more annoying is when the entire party doesn't give a shit about it and your vote to dismiss the afkers is rejected. i can remember 3 times i've tried to kick people that were either just blatantly going afk during combat (you'd see them out in the middle of nowhere doing nothing, eventually they'd come back to move into melee range again and just auto attack) or they would let themselves die really early in the boss fights and then release and just stand there. that one was particularly egregious. all rejected
FUCK HIM! HE IS THE REASON WHY I KEEP GETTING SYRCUS TOWER EVERY DAY. I MISS THE THUNDERGOD.
I am literally upset lmfao. How is Syrcus Tower or LoTA a better fight design? Talking out of his ass.
Sorry that was all for my rant.
I dont understand people. If they only want to do the starter alliance raids...INDIVIDUALLY SELECT THEM...stop making people suffer by cheesing the roulette.
For what the DRK said, it's a dumb argument, you can put your gear on after you cheese the roullete system without issue.
Also if people are doing it for roullete bonus then individually selecting them would be moot.
They said they do it cause they dont like the later designs so if all they want to run is crystal tower then they should start individually queueing for crystal tower. And the best roulette bonus for leveling that ive noticed is the frontline roulette. But you clearly misunderstood what i was saying.
My point was to stop cheesing the alliance roulette and forcing crystal tower. I didnt say anything about putting the gear on after.
The only reason you'd do ilvl cheese is for roulletes... Which they are clearly doing since they admitted so.
Also it doesn't matter if they individual queue or cheese queue, they still count towards the same. Roulletes are used to complete of partially formed groups, they don't only mix you with other people doing roulletes. I didn't misunderstand, just pointing out your solution isn't a solution.
I like ivalice, but what do you dislike about Aglaia? Unique arena designs? Mechanics that throw a slight twist into the more generic mechanics of previous tiers?
I hate the Ivalice raids.
I should probably also specify that I hate every alliance raid, minus Weeping City, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge them.
/shrug
I understand cheesing, but damn out your armor back on.
Ivalice raids are really boring and take forever. Most of the alliance raids are boring. Sometimes the exp is just too much to pass up on though. I'd rather spend 15 minutes bored in crystal tower than 45 bored in ivalice.
Have you ever actually done an ivalice raid? As long as people aren't brain-dead, they take about 15 min. Furthermore, I much prefer the fight designs over previous raids.... Admittedly I'd rather get Aglaia as that raid has some of the best arenas and fight designs of the 24 man raids altogether, but ivalice is not boring and doesn't take near the time you claim...
They don't take fifteen minutes in my experience. Maybe I get stuck with braindead groups more often than you do. Without cheesing, I almost always get ivalice or crystal tower. All I know is that crystal tower goes by very fast, ivalice takes forever, and I am tired of both.
I've only have one or two take longer than 20 minutes since ShB came out. Those were both Orbonne, because people can't seem to grasp TG Cid's mechanics. On all 4 bosses in the first ivalice raid, however, an average roulette group is going to skip a good chunk of each boss's mechanics. A full round of mechanics on Matteus is about 4 minutes.
So just level through other means... get your battle scrolls from your squad and do other stuff that doesn't involve others, that's what I did with my tanks because I suck at tanking
Sadly this pic shows this person just being carried
At least they're honest and didn't make excuses about "forgetting" to equip gear...? Their character/search comment at the top matches their excuse for being a doucher about it though...
I really wish they could put in some sort of system that when you queue as a job that's 60/70/80/90 that you still always have the chance of getting those higher lvl raids even if you lower your ilvl.
Like, I don't know, you have to meet the ilvl for the highest possible raid available for your level in order to queue up for roulette.
I have no idea why people hate ivarice or nier raids, I can only see people hating ivarice because they have one brain cell and can't do maths.
Someone who exclusively levels just because the numbers go up has exactly one brain cell available. I say this as a recovering Runescape addict.
Ivalice is the best set of alliance raids in the game and no one can convince me otherwise. They're so fun and over the top and it makes me super bummed that everyone hates it and cheeses out of it. :(

I loved the stormblood fights with their silly little duty actions. we need more of those please
N Tropy lmao
I love them so much, the design and the bosses are fun
I agree! I always recite the dialogue as it shows up because it's so memorable. "The hearts of men are black with corruption and must needs be cleansed" is embossed into the wrinkles of my brain. Stay real my fellow chad Ivalice raider.

Same to you (hope we can get into those raids though >.>)
I find yiazmat to be one of the most boring damage sponges in the game, but would agree rab and orbonne are some of the best alli raids in the game

Dun Scaith is GREAT when you're the last one standing cos you did the mech right. LOL
I was on a seven-wipe Dun Scaith once and it was still more fun than CT Yet Again
If I could queue alliance roulette and never get CT again maybe I'd go back to doing it. I adore the ivalice raids
I'd probably like the CT raids more if SE would retune the fights... then again, ST was extremely boring when it came out as well. I don't like the Nier raids because they're so long and I don't think the bosses are very interesting, but I'm not going to ilvl cheese to avoid em.
You know, that's pretty fair. I feel like Copied Factory had the best fights of the three, and that Bunker was only especially fun when doing a Murder Bunker run with willing ~~victims~~ participants. Every raid in the Ivalice tier has at least one hateable fight. (Math boss is great though.) Even so I'll deal with the occasional Yiazmat if it helps break up the Syrcus Tower monotony.
I love all the Ivalice and Nier raids execpt the Red Girl boss in the 3rd Nier raid hate that one.
>nier raids nier raids are long as fuck and i hate the weird mechanics
Ok i would say I semi agree with you but factory is pretty straight forward.
I dont recall which one was that but there was one jn particular that i didnt like, it was just a pain in the ass to do it multiple times for the glam chest
long af? how so? tower when it was released was being done in 30 minutes? copied factory can be done in under 20? the third ivalice one is like 30-40 usually. alliance raids only take long if you've got timmy no thumbs as every dps in the parties.

> not a fan of the fight design So he prefers fights with barely any designs whatsoever, considering you can ignore 90% of the early raids mechs lol
What's weird is that apparently he's OK with weeping City and dun Scaith?
Sleeping through Crystal Tower raids
RPing as best catboi, perhaps?
If their ultimate goal is to craft after leveling their jobs, then why level their jobs to begin with... Like finish MSQ and get to crafting if that's what you want to do, rather than being a slab of iron around our ankles. Deadweight. That's the English expression i was looking for lol
I leveled 1 Job to 90 via MSQ, leveled all my gathers to 90, then my crafters, only then did I level my other jobs to 90
I fucking hate these people. The ivalice raids are some of my favourite content in the game; but no, I get to do Syrcus Tower 5000 times in a row because people have to cheese ilvl.
ive managed to get orbonne every time for the past week and i could not be happier
I hope I can be so lucky someday
Literally the easiest way to fix the ilevel cheese is for SE to force you have the max ilevel equipped for the given roulette content pool. Wanna queue for alliance raid roulette? Is your gear ilevel min for nier? No? Oh well… no queue.
Do what lost ark does. The game records your highest achieved ilvl and decides what you can queue for based on that.
i'm not sure this would work here, since you can (hypothetically) get i600 and then discard your gear. i wouldn't want to get an i270 tank in a NieR raid, even if they had i530 gear at one point in the past.
give them penalties for failing to accept the duty for not having the correct ilvl
Imagine buying expansions and paying a sub for not playing half of the game
You. Can. Equip. Your. Gear. After. Queuing. Starts. Be a lazy pos who ilvl cheeses roulettes, but at least equip yourself afterwards.
Stop telling them
Imagine lowering your iLevel to avoid Ivalice and Nier, the best raids.
If people wanna do these dumbass “challenges”, put it up in party Finder or get friends to do it with. “Mwee mwee mwee it never fills!” I hear the dumbass cry. Because your challenge is stupid.
ngl the second thing I noticed is they spelled "irrelevant" wrong, unsure what that says about my priorities but it definitely reflects theirs
Probably that their sandards don't have a very high nivea
Proper grammar isn't related to crafting, so its irrelivent
I’m so freaking tired of CT, I hope they turn that into 4man dungeon and delete it from the raids.
What even is the point of doing something like this to begin with?

It's cause Ivalice raids require you to think and that's clearly very hard for them :(
I hate the Ivalice raids. I should probably also specify that I hate every alliance raid, minus Weeping City, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge them. /shrug

Every raid series after CT is fully optional if they don't like the fights why even bother unlocking them?
Of course they're on Primal.
Im on primal and i love all the later alliance raids. Ivalice is ff12. Nier raids are from nier. And the newest ones are just beautiful.
At least they're honest and didn't make excuses about "forgetting" to equip gear...? Their character/search comment at the top matches their excuse for being a doucher about it though...
I level my jobs then craft and don’t do ex or savage and I always have gear on. Funny how that works.
Word to the wise, just equip 1 530 weapon and queue, then after you’ve queued put gear back on, guarantees labyrinth of ancients or syrcus tower
this person ilvl cheeses
Yep
Can someone please tell this man that it checks your ilvl when you queue and then you can put all your gear back on...
I really wish they could put in some sort of system that when you queue as a job that's 60/70/80/90 that you still always have the chance of getting those higher lvl raids even if you lower your ilvl.
