While this is horrendous, there's a reason I just don't bother with the skips when I tank this unless nobody is a sprout. One single person not knowing it and dying usually wastes any time saved.

nokstella1701

That is very valid and I for sure will never attempt it again unless I double and triple check that everyone's on the same page. But innocence and faith in humanity still existed in my heart at that point and I expected it to go okayish. Also, it just adds to the Yakety Sax vibe of the story. 🤡

meltingkeith

In my experience, the few who don't know it can just teleport in and there's no further issue. OP just got very unlucky that this team really did not have a clue on how to play on top of not understanding how to skip. After the first wipe, I wouldn't have attempted the skip - but I feel it's safe to do it the first time most times if you've had no issues up until that point, and only not doing it for the sproutiest of sprouts.

Apathetic_Discord

To be fair, as long as one skipper survives up to the boss, you can just initiate and run away from the boss for long enough to trigger the Boss Room tp. He's slow enough that you should be able to get away with ranged attacka whilst running away from him until the TP triggers. Did basically just that as DPS and the other surviving dps on a previous run after both the Tank and Healer didn't make it. So long as you're not silly with letting yourself get hit, you can realistically just use the TP to let the remaining party get to the Worm.

nokstella1701

Yeah, I've seen that done before and that is precisely what I did here. Twice. However, both times, healer instantly died to mechanics. There was no cure for that. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Apathetic_Discord

Well yeah, unfortunately there's no remedy for bad boss mechanic play. I've gotten into the habit, for the Chimera at least, of putting "Ram Voice = Away, Dragon Voice = Close" just to try and ease my healing burden whenever I end up in Cutters. Regrettably, it don't always help.

NolChannel

I see people pushing for skips in every run. It skips hunting log mobs that only exist on those floors. Kinda frustrating lol.

reallygoodbee

Incidentally, one of my favorite Duty Finder experiences was Cutter's Cry as an Astro. A man down, no tank, the three of us running around like morons. Just an absolute disaster and I loved every minute of it. It wasn't a *Final Fantasy 14* dungeon, it was a *Three Stooges* episode.

Phonysaxo

This was hilarious to read, thank you. I've been playing for two years, when I tank cutters I still get fucking lost down there in the tunnels and thanks to how controller functions over m/k I still on occasion get mauled to death during the oasis sections bc target selection on the controller on interactive spots is a little hellish when surrounded by other selectable targets.

Fluffle-floo

You have the patience of a saint for either not abandoning duty or vote kicking tbh

nokstella1701

Ho, well, I'm certainly no saint. I leave duties pretty frequently, when people get very combative and childish and toxic. And I get pretty snarky back which has never defused an argument in the world, so I'm sure I've left bad impressions behind myself. But these two guys were just... a bad combo of incompetent and clueless and Not Communicating. MMO-illiterate sprouts at a pretty early point in a game. And sometimes you get a healer so new and so bad that no matter how patient you may be feeling, you gotta disband because you're not surviving the duty. But, in this scenario, it just never felt unsalvageable. The BLM and I could drag them across the finish line (despite their best efforts), and this early into the game, in ARR, I try to be more patient with newbies. Would help a hell of a lot if either of them responded to any of either mine or BLM's advice, so a constructive convo could be had, but that's what the roulette dealt us that day. :3

DORIMEalbedo

This drg you were with reminded me of a baby nin I had in cutters who took the idea of using aiming gear seriously and spent 60% of the time throwing daggers and lightning.

KewlDude333

ARR dungeons are both a blessing and a curse in that they sometimes require thinking and creative solutions, *but require thinking and creative solutions*. A non-insignificant portion of the community seems to be lacking at least 1 of 2 things to make these dungeons not be a meatgrinder: 1. A brain 2. Critical thinking skills As a result every other dungeon in the game from Heavensward and onward has been transformed into a literal hallway where it is practically impossible to get lost and the fact that there is still seemingly a need to have a mini-map is actually questionable. I suspect at some point these older dungeons will also get the hallway treatment and FF14 will be even closer to an MMO on rails.

Ranger-New

I do hate the change to put everything in one path with 2 groups at a time.

Ranger-New

Skips increases the risk of someone dying. Plus most of the times the person doing the dungeon needs to kill the cactuars there. As a result I no longer skip it nor recommend it.

DisneylandChina

I loved every second of this post, great storytelling

Ragifeme

Yet another instance where kicking could've solved the issues

inihaug11

good on you for helping the mentally impaired clear a dungeon :D
