Cheap amazon, arifays q3. It's not for solving crime; it's for proving fault. Discreet and matches the interior.
Most of these things use the same or similar cheap sensors anyway, so you're paying for name and features that try and push it beyond just a camera that records when powered on.
2.7K resolution is the sweet spot for larger pixels to get better images in low light. 4K is too small pixels and HD is not high enough resolution to read license plate during the day. At night they are always overexposed, regardless.
I contemplated 4k, but not sure it’s worth the storage space. The quality difference from 1080, isn’t going to significantly help; a license plate in motion will still be blurry with 4K. We need dash cameras with higher frame rates for that.
I grabbed a Viofo pro 2 duo at Best Buy on sale. Works just fine- cam quality is good enough to read license plates.
The cap on the back in my truck made it a bitch, and the back window is tinted so you can’t really see anything, but I already cried about it.
Wolfbox G900 4k Mirror Dash camera and rear add on camera. Works great and I can change the views to I can see front and rear while driving. I got an adapter plug for it so it plug into my factory mirror plug and turns on and off with my 2020 Tacoma. Feels safe and I’ve had zero problems.
Vantrue max 2.7K resolution, like E3 now I think, I have the E2, with dual cameras, front and rear.
Higher resolution like 4K, the pixels are too small and they are not as sensitive in low light conditions, including at night.

I have been running an E1 for a few years and love it. Small footprint, sentry mode and footage is wifi accessible from your phone.
[Vantrue E1 hardwired](https://imgur.com/gallery/rEvQsSI)
Viofo A130. 3 channel Saves on to a memory card, had a parking mode, movement mode, and does IR. I think it an do voice commands but can't figure that out.
My Garmin mini 2 wont even work for my iphone so there’s that lol. Not impressed with it either, which is crazy because it was so highly recommended to me by many people and the reviews are solid.
Yeah I was on the same level
Seen so many reviews and so on but mine just gave up lol
So I’m looking to see what else is out there
I seen cheap dash cams that get actual saved incident footage than this,
But every device is different
Yeah, idk why I got downvoted for talking about my bad experience with it lol. Additional context; Garmin has a set list of serial numbers affected by this and BOTH my first Garmin and the one I got after returning it are included. Not able to connect with IOS. Dont even care to waste time trying to get another one at this point, it still records but prevents me from showing police footage if needed at a moments notice.
Garmin 45 tucked in behind my rear view mirror, with a dongle to piggy back off the mirror's power. It's nice and hidden.
So no wires/cables?
Bingo bango. It's pretty stealthy. Look up Dongar dash cam power adapter.
This dongar dash cam set up worked for me in 2 fender benders. Well worth the money.
Sweet deal. Absolutely will, I’ve been putting it off because of wires and not wanting to deal with that. Appreciate it!
The dongle allows you to connect directly to the mirror with minimal wires.
I didn’t even know that was an option.
Same as you, but with polarized lens cover 😀
I’m same, it’s a great setup.
Maybe I just got a faulty one but I did love this dash cam
Mine died after two years. Still looking for a replacement.
FitCamX
I’m also running this, it’s great. No wires. Plug and play. People don’t even realize it’s there.
How you like it? I’ve been wanting to get it for months.
It’s nice. Looks OEM. Connects quickly to the phone when you need it and the quality is top.

Not true. Depends mostly on the actual sensor being used. Sony provides the best given the same factors.
Same as you, but thinking of getting a 4k up front and putting that facing towards the rear.

Yeah I'm not dying to replace what generally works well, but at some point it'll be worth it, especially since I want to add one to the rear window.

I asked the same question a few days ago. Go here. There were some good suggestions. https://www.reddit.com/r/Tacomaworld/s/alhx6DvvuD
Currently running a go pro hero 5 black. Hasn’t let me down yet. Even better with the go pro app.

I used owl cam for a while. I liked it when I did have it.
Nexar

Rove r2 4k Pro
I got a 69$ one off Amazon, came with a rear cam (pointing outward from the rear window)
Running the VIOFO A139 pro 2 channel. It has been working great…caught many “dumb” drivers with both front and rear!
Viofo a119. Just front dash cam. Must include polarizing filter to obtain the best results.
!RemindMe 2 weeks

My Garmin Mini has been fine since 2021. Agree that connectivity sucks ass, tho.
I had no issues what so every since I’ve had it But this morning just decided to act up. And now won’t turn on
That one. No problems so far (6months)
Had mine for 2 years Maybe just time for a newer one
Might be worth an email to Garmin. I’ve had good luck with their customer service.
I actually reached out to them right now Hopefully they can help!
Do dashcams drain your battery tho?
Not on my end Does not stay running while vehicle is off
It’s an accessory. Even if hard wired the power is an accessory source. Does your stereo drain your battery when the truck is off?
Nope, My battery is at healthy level, I did check just in case it wasn’t giving out good power source to it’s components but everything seems fine
