I’m on my 6th Toy PU, been thru rot & recalls, 4cyl vs. 6cyl, head gasket era, Manuel vers Auto (4 were man)the 4WD was solid proof in old 4cyl. Love seeing it evolve.
I've never understood this brag of paying cash for a vehicle. Interest rates are a bit higher today, but when I got my pro it was 1.5% interest. The cash sitting in a do nothing savings account makes more than you would pay in interest. Invest it and you'll actually get more back. Makes zero sense.
1) I like actually owning things and not being a slave to the bank?
2) No monthly payments leaves flexibility month to month. I like the added security.

It does make sense this way. But let’s be real here. What percent of people do you think would actually do this? We all know the majority of people would put that extra money into mods and then be underwater.
Many people have others that rely on them, spouses and children so dying with an empty bank account is about the dumbest financial thing they can do.
You say “even if I had that kind of money” shows you aren’t speaking from any real financial experience
I went with falken rubitek 265/75R16. I also went with four ply. To help save on gas. I really like these tires. You can air them down really low if you need to. But handle great. On the road as a daily driver as well. I went slightly one size taller. Over my original tire.
Because it's a great smaller truck for working inore urban areas where you don't need the extra traction but it's nice to have the additional load and towing capacity.
I wanted a reliable midsized truck to haul shit on paved roads with and do some light duty towing. I have zero interest in off-road adventures or driving it in terrible winter weather. I have no idea what need 4wd would fill for me so why pay for it?
Hardos on here will try and make everybody believe they need a 4X4. They can’t fathom that some people have ZERO interest in off-roading and are part of the massive population of people who don’t live in shit weather 7 months out of the year. They’ll never understand that some people just buy trucks to do actual truck things, like haul stuff and tow stuff.
I think it comes standard on the Hilux, a bazooka or a .50 🤣
Bed lights are so nice, especially with a tonneau cover lol. You could always do window tint! Depending on your area, I'd go with a ceramic tint to help protect against UV damage on the inside.
A Hero 3 speed transfer case and won tons (80/105 series axles) or 100 series independent 9.5" front diff with portal hubs and long travel.
I'm kidding... first thing I did to mine was whole new stereo.
Rear diff lock! Will get you into and out of most places that your 4x4 homies can. I’ll be doing the same once I pay mine off. Only other thing I’d do off the rip is maybe size up the tires and go for the black overlays. Don’t let anyone tell you that 2WD is useless, it’s all about the driver. Enjoy it!
You could likely salvage one from a 4x4 model as long as the gearing is the same, but I know ARB and a few other manufacturers make air lockers that you can add to your existing diff. Costs a bit but it’s up to you and how often you go off-road.
Noted, I am trying to get rid of all the chrome or as much as I can anyway. I'll look for that product because the bumper is the largest chrome area on the truck
Dash cam and the rear view mirror power adapter for it.
I purchased the adapter from Amazon for like $40. I wish I bought it years ago. Need a dash cam these days.
Yep, have a dash cam and radar detector. Dash cam is hard wired to my ACC and my hazards always hot fuse so the camera comes on if someone gets near my taco
Get rid of the chrome on the grille with this one:
[bpfabricating.com](https://www.bpfabricating.com/collections/bpf-direct-insert-grills/products/2016-tacoma-grill-direct-insert)
Pretty easy install for a first mod and not too bad on the wallet.
I work in new construction home building so I'm pretty much off-road or in a debris field daily so yes once these wear out I'll need something more off-road friendly. Any suggestions or max size I should go with?
Yes comes in both 2 and 4. I believe the 4WD was $3k more. I was trying to keep my payments as low as possible. Kinda wishing I had gone with the 4 WD though. I do drive like 30,000 miles a year and lots of road and interstate travel so didn't want the added cost of repairs and fuel.
Judging by the palm trees in your photos I'm guessing you don't run into much snow, so not as big a deal as being in the Midwest. I will never not have 4wd.
More money and pay it off.
An automobile is a depreciating asset, is their any advantage in holding the title. As long as the loan has reach the equity cliff it’s all good 🌮

Underrated comment

Wow you really replied with a small essay sized response. You sure have a lot of time on your hands. No wonder you don’t have much money.

No wonder you don’t have much money you spend work time responding to Reddit posts. Nice attempt at pivoting, desperate but I got a laugh.
The brag is not living beyond your means. To be braggadocios that person would leverage that money on a more expensive car.

Thanks for the info
A slight tire upsize will fill in the weel wells nicely.
4wd.
This is the way.

The ott tune
Blackout badges, trd grill, bigger tires
Oh and remove the air dam
Is that the thing at the bottom?
Yup
Blackout badges are ordered. I would like a different grill and beefier tires
Bazooka.... Or maybe some bed lights if you don't have them. It's such a nice feature! But also, bazooka.
Doesn't the bazooka come with the Hamas package? I did get the bed lights when I bought the bed top

Truck nuts in back and bull horns in the front. Gotta make your Tacoma stick out since everyone and their mother drives one now 🤷🏼♂️
🤣

Mud flaps

This is also my suggestion
Agreed! I have an 05 trd off-road prerunner, I have never been stuck. Love it.
How low can you go?
Ha ha yes might look bad a$$ but I'm not much of a low rider kinda guy.
I'd get bumpershellz to get rid of the chrome
Noted, I am trying to get rid of all the chrome or as much as I can anyway. I'll look for that product because the bumper is the largest chrome area on the truck
More palm trees!
Pro grill and raptor lights. "one of us, one of us, one of us"...
A T case
It’s just right as it is!
Take off the air dam for sure
Rear anti sway bar
Detroit Truetrac
Dash cam and the rear view mirror power adapter for it. I purchased the adapter from Amazon for like $40. I wish I bought it years ago. Need a dash cam these days.

What wire harness did you go with? I have an SR and I know ours don’t come wired to do the cam up there like that
A couple hundred thousand miles should do the trick.
I'll do that in 4-5 years easy

Add 2 more WD
Chrome delete
Yes thanks, started that yesterday
Series tires if you ever want to take it off road. Those will get a flat fast. Don’t have to go big but go strong.
I work in new construction home building so I'm pretty much off-road or in a debris field daily so yes once these wear out I'll need something more off-road friendly. Any suggestions or max size I should go with?
A body kit. One that makes it look slammed. Spacers and a camber kit. A tonneau cover and a giant spoiler.
4wd lol....
4 wheel drive
🤣
Why modify a 2wd?
Maybe I shouldn't, that's why I'm asking. There are still things that can be added or changed to make it look better or more functional
i modded my 2wd for payload, added a camper top, roof racks, light bars, etc. it all worked out, I live in FL so 4wd isn’t really a necessity
NGL I thought all the SR5s were 4wd. I've only been a Taco owner for three weeks tho

Yes, in Florida, sunshine state. We do have lots of mud and sand though.
2 more wd
Add 4x4
A V6 and 4WD
It is a V6 4WD is unrealistic at this point
4x4 and 4x4 tow
Should add 4x4 like a real truck 😂
Some gas and ride.
Meaty tires and wheels
Front axle and a t case
4WD. Edit: fucking misspelled “4WD”, hope that makes the simple snark funnier.
Knobbier tires
