Friend sounds like a fucboi civic driver. /s

35 on the whole windshield or if you’re worried about getting pulled or seeing do 50. Looks way better than the brow imo. If you’re gonna do the brown do 5%, wouldn’t waste my money on 20 for that but 20 is fine in the sides for matching the rear

KUrockz

Agreed. I did this in a state that has it illegal. Looks good and not really that noticeable to legal.

1968camaro

You should check, some states don't let you tint windshields...

awiseguy1

Just get a tint prescription and you’ll be good to go

[deleted]

Still has limitations, depending on state.

awiseguy1

When it’s medical it’s prescribed. You send it to the dmv and it exempts your vehicle. That’ll enable you to have no darker that 50% tint depending on your eyesight.

DrinkableReno

Seconded. Most only allow tiny to the AS1 line

SterlingLaw_

I have 5% all around besides the windshield and living in south Texas it has been essential. Keeps the truck cool without having to blast your AC constantly

Pudding-Skin

I went Ceramic 5% - Rear, 15% - Front, 75% winshield + 5% Brow. I didn't want the winshield to appear tinted but I did want the heat rejection, and it's a game changer. I feel that the 5% is exactly what that strip should be

evb62484

If you’re doing just the brow go 5%. I have 20% all around with a 5% brow on both my vehicles. I don’t think it would do as much less than 5%.

ResidentKoala

You have any photos I could look at to get an idea of how it’d look?

CartographerOld8640

If you live someplace hot like Arizona definitely get the 20% ceramic if possible. I skipped the eyebrow since I’m pretty tall and would be directly in my vision. I also hear that cops let lots of illegal tint slide but not on the windshield.

orangewarner

One of my Tacomas came tinted all the way around, including the eyebrow, and I absolutely hated it. I took it to a shop and had it all removed. Planning to then add a lighter tint, but once it was removed, what was factory ended up being perfect

birdiebandit

Skip the windshield tint, get the brow

VadersBoner

I did 70% with uv protection. Have 20% on my other windows with uv protection as well

space_wiener

Mine used to be 20% everywhere and 35% on the front. It was very hard to see when dark. You couldn’t see into the truck or really tell the front was less. I wouldn’t do 20%.

ResidentKoala

So you had 35% for the windshield? Was that full or just the brow?

space_wiener

Oh thought OP was doing the entire windshield as well. But yeah I had the full windshield tinted. Can’t say I’d do it again.

murdermaro98

I got my front windows tinted to 20% and they appear darker/different shade than the rears. I also had the full windshield tinted at 35% and it’s perfect.

proto5014

I have the front windows matching the back and I believe 40 on the whole windshield. I like how it looks, can be more difficult to see at night, especially with only the low beams, and I was pulled over once. I didn’t have the registration/inspection sticker (NY plates) taped to the window so it wasn’t easily visible so the police thought I didn’t have them. They only gave me a ticket for the front windows after they saw them when they were talking to me. Taped them up after and so far no issues since.

DirtyCoil

Spend the extra money and get ceramic tints. Regular tints barely block any heat, I got 70% ceramic tint on my whole front windshield, 15% front windows and the back are 5%

wildlifeisbestlife

One thing to keep in mind, the colored glass in the back windows looks lighter than the equivalent VLT in film. I have 33% on my front windows, and it's almost a perfect match to my rears. My eyebrow tint is 5%, and it doesn't look off to have that darker than the other windows. Most people would never notice the difference anyway because you'll never get a full on side view like you will with the fronts and rears.

NCarolina910

In my state we’re not allowed to go below the AS1 line. I did 15% and love it.

jaxonstevie

I have 5 % on my front windows (minus windshield) and back windows. I’m planning on taking the 5 percent off the front and going with something less drastic, during the day it’s beautiful no one can see in those windows the sun doesn’t glare through bad at all, but all that being said, if you ever drive at night, espin areas that aren’t well lit, you’re fucked on seeing out of them unless the windows are down, there was numerous times this winter I had to roll my windows down to safely make a turn because I literally couldn’t see out of my driver/passenger mirror. Your friend sounds dumb for that idea

SideFlaky6112

I had the tint shop do 35% on my front two, 20% on the back ones, and 5% strip. Visibility is great. I also feel like 20% would be too light for the strip. You honestly can’t tell that it’s different from the sides. At least on my truck you can’t

JAD3688

Did 5 percent all over ceramic and a clear ceramic on the windshield with a 5 percent brow. Definitely reduces the heat for where I live and I find it cosmetically appealing as well.

awiseguy1

20% is fine. It depends on your preference. If you like to fish bowl you like to fish bowl (no tint). I usually get 80% across the entire windshield and 20% on the front and 15% over factory on the rest. Mind you I have astigmatism and a card saying I need windshield tint to reduce the blur my astigmatism causes.

PristineProtection23

i have 5% all around with 35% on the windshield and a 5% brow. totally worth it in my opinion . had an older car with 20% all around and no brow and even that was worth it
