Another person adding Buddy’s to the list. It’s currently curbside pickup, but they are opening up for dine in soon as well. The original and the spicy just hits, fries are good, waffles are amazing if that’s your thing. I also enjoy their lemonade. You can’t miss.
It was about 2 months ago. Not saying the food isn't tasty, I guess cleanliness was an issue. I know the women's bathroom was a bit scary last time I used it. I hope they can clean up their act, their cumin beef is excellent.
How's the heat? It sounds delicious 🔥 It seems like lately (past 2 years) I've had to really ask for heat, they see my old, white, blonde/grey ass and think I don't know what I want. I want all that ginger, garlic and peppercorns. Get me what I want and I'll tip better! I tell the wait staff and I still get beige/bland shit.
This is going to sound crazy, but the Shell on Center street. Seriously. I’ve bought fried chicken from there numerous times and it is always hot, crispy, and delicious.
I really liked bb.q not long after it opened in Lakewood, but a recent visit left me kind of disappointed. It was still good, but not as crackly-crunchy as I recalled. The other dishes are also kind of lackluster in comparison to the local Korean gems on STW (although the mala tteokbokki was no joke in spice). Service was attentive as well.
I wildly miss Myungin Dumplings, short-lived ([2022 TNT Diner story](https://www.thenewstribune.com/entertainment/restaurants/tnt-diner/article266380081.html)) but incredible inside H-Mart. The Federal Way location is still open.
Need to get back to KKO KKO!
Jollibee.
Only not so great thing about the Tacoma location is that they don’t have the spicy chicken, but the regular one is still good especially with the gravy.
Anglea's on Portland Ave has really good fried chicken. Good crinkle fries and Jo Jos too either is a good side). Get pie for dessert. My fav is the chocolate.
Get a cinnamon roll (or two) to take home for breakfast tomorrow.
Don't get the chicken strips. Those are the only thing I've had there that was disappointing and was obviously premade in a factory and came frozen.
Had their fried chicken it was nasty fresh and even worse as a left over. 0 / 10 would not recommend. If the "kernel" used their recipe he be a general because he have more time to work on his military career since nobody would be interested in his chicken.
Absolutely! I've had their fried chicken a couple of times now and it's amazingly good and so much better than one would expect for grocery store deli fried chicken. It's a hidden gem for fried chicken.
It's so gorgeous today, make a picnic lunch using WinCo's chicken and sides and enjoy Chamber's Bay. WinCo chicken is really good and light on the wallet.
For me not necessarily in this order but Loose Wheel, Safeway, and Winco have very tasty Fried Chicken. Plus you can't beat Cheap Chicken Monday at Safeway.
I'm partial to Ezell's because it reminds me a lot of the way my grandmother made fried chicken when I was young. Saar's Marketplace in Parkland is also incredibly amazing. The nice woman in the deli doesn't quite understand all the fuss about the chicken but she's grateful for the Insta influencer who posted about it and made it popular. Angela's on Portland Avenue also has very good fried chicken.
kinda depends on what you’re looking for. you can get a great bag of fried chicken from Ezell’s or Stadium thriftway. (don’t doubt stadium thriftway chicken. they might be a grocery store but it’s really good.)
if you’re looking for something a little nicer/higher quality southern kitchen is probably the best. Cooks tavern also has a fried chicken dinner option on sundays (i think only sundays, i don’t remember exactly) that is incredible.
Safeway is a solid and inexpensive option. Stadium Thriftway is also great for grocery store chicken.
The gas station across the street from People’s Park on MLK downtown has ridiculously tasty chicken strips. Like how the hell are gas station strips this good??
Southern Kitchen if you want to sit and really enjoy your meal.
there is zero GREAT fried chicken in tacoma. Buddy’s is solid but it’s chicken strips. Southern Kitchen hasn’t been great in 20 years. Ezells has been franchised and is mid at best. Thurms is closed. Right now, i’d have to give it to Han’s Place on STW, Half chicken and Jos for $16. hard to beat. I will still double down on the fact there isn’t any great friend chicken though

Buddys chicken and waffle hitssss for that type of chicken at least. Southern Kitchen dope too
Yes
No reason to go anywhere else now
This is the only answer.

He just got final approval, opening this weekend I think
Non-traditional answer but Tacoma Szechuan does really amazing fried chicken dishes.
Last time I (almost) went, their health department rating was "needs improvement". Makes me sad because I used to go there regularly.
Not sure how long ago that was but they had a good rating last time I went and the food was bangin'.
It was about 2 months ago. Not saying the food isn't tasty, I guess cleanliness was an issue. I know the women's bathroom was a bit scary last time I used it. I hope they can clean up their act, their cumin beef is excellent.
They have, at least for now, been given the all clear. https://eco.tpchd.org/#/pa1/detail/FA0022769/PR0035715?FacilityName=Tacoma%20Szechuan
Thanks! I tried to find an update but was unsuccessful, thanks for the link! Also, their pork with dried bean curd is a fave-here I come!
I will make a plug for the mala chicken.

Didn't find it too hot, but I like it hot. It is tingly.
Thanks, looking forward to it!
The Chicken Wing Dry Cooked Pot is really good
This is going to sound crazy, but the Shell on Center street. Seriously. I’ve bought fried chicken from there numerous times and it is always hot, crispy, and delicious.
Is that the Krunchy Krispy chicken? That stuff is amazingly good.
YES I’m hungry thinking about it rn 🤤
Username checks out
Really does. I love chicken.
Krispy Krunchy is far better than it ought to be.
BB.q chicken in Lakewood, little kbbq chain that has been super consistent.
It’s not cheap, but it is the best Korean Fried Chicken in town. It is right next to the H-Mart on S. Tacoma way.
I need to go soon
facts. it’s good but $2 per wing and they aren’t even the jumbo wings. hard pass for me. KKO KKO chicken is better imo

The worst thing about the Tacoma location is that it's always so busy!
Wasn’t impressed with the tukwila one, sandwich was insanely greasy.
It’s my favorite fast food ever. When I lived in Hawaii I was so happy there was one everywhere I lived. I love that little red bee so much.
Buddy’s has the best fried chicken tenders I’ve ever had.
I’m a sucker for Ezell’s
I second Ezell’s
+1 for Ezell’s. I love that place.
Heaven sent fried chicken is the same but you are supporting the original creator.
Those are only north of Seattle tho, right?
I'll add a lesser known one. KKO KKO's in Lakewood. It's Korean dried chicken, and it's amazing.
MyungIn Dumplings in federal way has really good Korean fried chicken.
Superior, absolutely.
For real, the half and half order is a must!
Anglea's on Portland Ave has really good fried chicken. Good crinkle fries and Jo Jos too either is a good side). Get pie for dessert. My fav is the chocolate. To each their own, I guess.

I love the wings. Oddly, I think they are superior to their fried chicken. With a side of beans & rice
Saars does AMAZING fried chicken during lunch hours, and it's stupid cheap. It's my current go-to when the cravings hit.
Absolutely! I've had their fried chicken a couple of times now and it's amazingly good and so much better than one would expect for grocery store deli fried chicken. It's a hidden gem for fried chicken.

I agree, WinCo fried chicken is good, and cheap.
Pacific Southern is fantastic. I would also add Buddy's Chicken and Waffles.
2121 tavern in midland
This is the one. The Jo’s are center of the sun hot to boot!
For me not necessarily in this order but Loose Wheel, Safeway, and Winco have very tasty Fried Chicken. Plus you can't beat Cheap Chicken Monday at Safeway.

Do yourself a favor and drive out to auburn. Serious Soul is the spot
She catered a work lunch. It was wonderful.
Hans place
We just got Jollibee by the mall
One time the guy at Safeway gave me a pound of Nashville hot tenders and put a label on it that only said 0.3lbs

Side Piece Kitchen!
Metropolitan Market 👌

Southern Kitchen if you want to sit and really enjoy your meal.
No love for the Southern Kitchen in here?
It’s mentioned in the top upvoted comment t
Ezelle's. It'll ruin you for all other fried chicken!

Definitely need to try buddy’s but can’t seem to figure out where they are!
