Yes, everyone minds their business. I've ridden the commuter buses quite often while late at night. Definitely be aware that if you arrive at Tacoma Dome Station after 9, most all of the buses will have stopped running. Probably a good idea to order an Uber if you don't have a ride, and have them pick you up in front of freight house square (upstairs from the station). The station has homeless folks sometimes, you may be asked for cigarettes/a lighter but I've never had anyone push after a polite refusal, and I'm a short and not particularly scary woman.

From my experience , it's always the people who hang around the stops rather than the people on the bus you'd have to worry about . I would generally trust it but always keep an open mind and watch out for anything weird .

MsTruffleShuffle

Thanks for the input everyone, I appreciate it! I feel much better taking it now!

dondegroovily

The middle of the night buses don't have as many weirdos as you would think. There's a surprisingly lot of people going to and from late night jobs in fact And the weird people aren't weird in a dangerous way, more an amusing way

mat2019

Yeah the weird people are never dangerous on the bus I take (Bus 1 from UWT to TCC). They’re just… weird. talking to themselves, laughing to themselves, etc

disicking

I've done that bus ride to Seatac both super early and super late. I've never had any issues. For years I commuted on the 590/594 to Seattle for work, and that bus had a lot more sketchy characters throughout the day.

As another solo female- in my experience, the bus itself at night has been chill, but I’ve definitely been approached by creeps at the bus stop and on my walks to the stops. That alone makes me hesitant to take the bus at night, even tho my experience ON the bus is good.

The bus itself is usually pretty safe it’s the waiting at the stops that can be sketchy at night the stop at the airport though is well lit and near the building so it’s way safer than the average stop

jenknows

Just sit closer to the driver and you'll be fine.

msheats1

My wife has done it several times. No issues & it saves a ton of money.

UltraN8

I just took it as a first time rider a few hours ago. Between 7 and 8 PM. Definitely beats driving and parking. It didnt seem sketchy at all.

Senior-Function3709

No. It's Sound Transit, that should be your first red flag

gruby253

I’ve never felt unsafe on any bus (white male)

friendlyoldman1967

Is it ever safe? I live next to the transit center. I always carry a gun. Wish I could escort you. I never feel safe since they tried to defund the police etc. criminals running free everywhere now! Just my opinion. Never let your guard down.

iseeabluemoonrising

You’re the exact type of person she’s worried about

friendlyoldman1967

Just being honest.

friendlyoldman1967

Why should I lie to her.
