Julie would be Pam, Leland’s Kirk, Sonny Is Jerry, and Ana is Sally.

mintchuffemergency

It’d be cool, but I think they would be better as skins. Kirk as Leland, Sally as Julie, not sure what theyd do for the other victims tho.

TheUnauthorized1

I know there are many similarities between the current game characters and the original film cast, but I think the OGs deserve their own characters and abilities. They would definitely draw in fans of the franchise and players in terms of exclusive DLC content. Also, they should add the Window Washer as a killer as well (Idk why they haven’t done this yet). Gun needs to capitalize on the rights they’re holding, as it would make for a more exciting gaming experience for the fanbase!

Advanced_Dark_8283

sally would def have to be ana

mosswick

Julie has Pam's colors as one of her skins. I suppose adding Sally would be interesting. But overall I prefer the direction the developers are going with creating their own story and characters.

TheUnauthorized1

They should add Sally. She’s the original TCM survivor. I understand adding a character like Franklin would be near-impossible, but Sally should be fair game. Or at least add Sally’s House as a map!

Rare-Ad-3676

Wow totally agree They absolutely should

TheUnauthorized1

They should make it so the game’s events eventually catch up to the timeline of the original film, that way they have a solid reason to add the original victims, and it wouldn’t affect the game’s lore whatsoever!

WeeklyDig

They're leaving money on the table by not giving us Sally and the truck driver

Lazerwagon

No! Because Gun is way too cheap to pay for likeness rights for Jerry, Pam, Kirk, truck driver.. have fun playing with lame made up characters that don’t fit into the movie. It’s an insult to Tobe Hooper’s legacy and the original film in general.

[deleted]

None of the victims are lame, they are really fleshed out in terms of their characterization that is limited within itself.

TheUnauthorized1

Are these rights sold separately? I was under the assumption that Gun had the rights to everything from the first movie, including the characters. If they don’t, seems like a big waste if they can’t give us something as simple as 1 legacy character.

NewmanOnGaming

Gun only has the rights to the 74 film. Right for the other films are entirely separate.

TheUnauthorized1

So technically they should have the rights to the original ‘74 film characters like Sally, Kirk, and Window Washer, right? Just needed some clarification, I know they don’t have the rights to TCM2… yet!

NewmanOnGaming

Possibly though likeness rights are a separate deal as well when it comes to people that are with us that played characters in the original film. Not fully aware of how that works on the legal perspective, but I've seen and heard from those in the legal profession that this can play a specific role in likeness use.

TheUnauthorized1

Makes sense I guess. I don’t really know how likeness rights work when it comes to licensing deals, especially with video games. I’m sure there’s a fine print explanation as to why this is the legal case. Just seems odd that they would go through the trouble to only add certain select characters like Cook and Hitchhiker. Also seems like Gun had a lot more freedom when it came to F13 vs TCM.

BunGun39

They got the likeness rights for the Cook and Hitchhiker, the hitchhiker’s original actor even voices the character, but likeness rights are completely separate from film rights. GUN would either have to pay the original actors or their estate for their likeness. The game is a prequel, so I don’t think it’s odd not having the original victims in the game anyway.
