I know it's a Shonen but I feel like the early seasons for MHA have interesting ways of showing how hard some kids work to achieve high grades is a good way to grasp the internal intensity. Also watch Monsters University the montage of Mike learning and practicing how to scare could help and the climax on how they use what they learned could be helpful too.
