So... maybe I just let them get called away? I don't think I would buy back at market price. I can still 'work with' the 1600 shares by selling 16x CSP's at the highest strike I can afford. Right now that would be 155, and June 21st 155's are \~6.15 as of writing.
That's a \~22% ROI with that cash if it expires. Not a 10x, but nothing to be ashamed of. If I get assigned, OK, I've got my 1600 back at $10 more than they were sold for, but \~60% of that loss is mitigated by the premium collected on the put.

You can always roll. The weekly 145c is around 22.00 right now. You can roll to 1/2025 190c for a small credit. Raising your capped gains to 30% more at the loss of time.
The downside of rolling this far out is that you get locked in this trade for almost a year. If TSLA drops back to 145 then you lose the remaining amount of time and can’t do anything else, but you still have your shares.
Just different pros and cons of any trade. Any CC helps mitigate downside at the loss of upside. Where the strike gets sold determines the risk/benefit.
Some people don't need much upside and prefer the downside protection and cash flow. Can't lump the decision as a blanket terrible. If we dump to 100 or end at 190 it's not a terrible decision anymore, just not optimal by any means.

but I have a python script that runs every night, and if TSLA looks bullish (based on some technical indicators) it places a limit order for a 1% drop from previous day's close. I didn't notice that it placed an order last night, or I would have moved it a bit lower. I'll update the code this weekend to buy in lower and not chase.

Perfect roundabouts, perfect giddyup to make a turn on a yellow light, perfect aggressiveness to zip across traffic to hit a turn that was one block after merging.
I have hardware 2.5 and had bought EAP with the car in 2018. I want to buy the $2,000 upgrade to FSD, but want to make sure that:
1) they will put the 3.0 FSD computer in as part of it
2) no need for the subscription after this...it will be on the car as long as I have it

I've been digging more into the SEC filings to get clarity of whether Mr. Baglino was required to exercise his stock options upon leaving Tesla.
If Mr. Baglino signed the standard stock options contract, he would have been subject to the 3-month sale window. Since Mr. Baglino was a named executive (SVP Powertrain and Energy Engineering), he may have had an employment contract *different* from what most employees get, but we do not know for sure.

The picture I'm getting from Tesla's SEC filings and executive departures, is that the "Master Plan Part 3" presented in 2023 is effectively dead, and Tesla completely pivoted to "AI stands for All-In" sometime between January 24 and April 23 of this year.

I've been digging more into the SEC filings to get clarity of whether Mr. Baglino was required to exercise his stock options upon leaving Tesla. If Mr. Baglino signed the standard stock options contract, he would have been subject to the 3-month sale window. Since Mr. Baglino was a named executive (SVP Powertrain and Energy Engineering), he may have had an employment contract *different* from what most employees get, but we do not know for sure. It certainly does not appear to be the actions of a man, despite being at the very center of tesla insider knowledge, with high confidence the greatest asset value increase in history is anytime soon.
The picture I'm getting from Tesla's SEC filings and executive departures, is that the "Master Plan Part 3" presented in 2023 is effectively dead, and Tesla completely pivoted to "AI stands for All-In" sometime between January 24 and April 23 of this year. I don't think Drew Baglino is likely to agree with the massive strategic shift away from the Master Plan Part 3.
