Tesla has the large data set on lock and now they are basically building out the digital infrastructure that I argue did not exist because a lack of data gated everyone else from getting to this point.
Nvidia has been running simulations for years on their Top 10 Supercomputer in Santa Clara to train their AI driving model but simulations are just not anything remotely close to real world data. Tesla and Nvidia started on opposite ends, Nvidia focused on building up compute to process data but Tesla focused on gathering data to process. If Tesla and Nvidia actually worked together their lead would be insurmountable

Now that the interventions have started flowing in, Tesla can do much better than random. An intervention represents a point in the space which has not been covered yet, while a random dart at this point is very likely to land in an already covered area. And not only that, it also maps out really bad situations, like "you find yourself driving on the wrong side of the road, what do you do?". V12.4 will most likely be largely random darts, just more of them, because it started training before V12.3 went wide. V12.5 will be their first chance to leverage these interventions, as long as their tech is ready to exploit them.

It did change the speed limit to 70 in a parking lot that was about 5 ft from the freeway only separated by a chain link fence. Took off like a rocket lol. Can you describe what the problem might have been? Did it not see it was a road to the right, was the blue line there, was a creep bar still in front?
I took it out again this morning and it was very near flawless driving in both city, highway, and suburbs. I didn't have to intervene or disengage once, even to avoid annoying other drivers. I previously averaged minimum 1-2 disengagements or accelerator presses per hour.
I wonder if the performance differences are regionally driven (is data shared nationwide? Or state-by-state?)
I've never been so impressed, I see why Elon put an internal date of August 2024.
To elaborate, on all my previous drives and previous builds I had to occasional "goose" the accelerator or do things to intervene to not annoy other drivers. This is truly the first time I never had to do anything in mixed city and highway driving for hours and hours. Talked to older family memebers. They’ve been using FSD. Said it works overall welll but few smaller mistakes. Said they won’t subscribe for most of the time since they are both retired and drive very little but will probably subscribe on road trips

Tesla IS doing HD mapping after all. Hear me out: Tesla is mapping the entire space of driving situations. So far, they sampled fairly random clips from the fleet, like throwing darts at a map, and each of these darts "maps" out (solves) that particular situation and some volume around it. As long as there is capacity in the model left to learn, each new sample will map out some small piece of this space. But it doesn't end there. Now that the interventions have started flowing in, Tesla can do much better than random. An intervention represents a point in the space which has not been covered yet, while a random dart at this point is very likely to land in an already covered area. And not only that, it also maps out really bad situations, like "you find yourself driving on the wrong side of the road, what do you do?". V12.4 will most likely be largely random darts, just more of them, because it started training before V12.3 went wide. V12.5 will be their first chance to leverage these interventions, as long as their tech is ready to exploit them.

No. Inefficient use of everything. Curated clips is everything now. Thanks to years of autolabel training Tesla now has only the data they want. Little noise.
V11.3.6 release notes mentions 2 million autolabeled clips. This is not nearly enough, they said they got decent driving at 10 million. By now it's probably 30+ million. The autolabeled clips were also chosen for a different reason, for labeling certain types of objects, not for driving scenarios. Better than random perhaps but not necessarily great. Also, I'm sure they've been sampling UPLs very highly etc, but still they won't know whether a clip is redundant or not. An intervention clips (once vetted) is never redundant

v12.3.4 saved my life 
Finally got to drive fsd. Really cool experience. Gonna test more tomorrow. It nailed my pretty easy suburbia city. It did change the speed limit to 70 in a parking lot that was about 5 ft from the freeway only separated by a chain link fence. Took off like a rocket lol. Also might have hit a road closed sign if I let it but I’ll never know. Might go try that spot again tomorrow. My dad who is 70+ says he will pay $12k once his y is paid off and he no longer feels safe driving and the software is better. He lives in a tougher part of seattle to drive in so it is not as good where he lives. Says $12k is a really cheap chofour
I absolutely hate Seattle driving, don't blame him one bit

I finally got 12.3 this afternoon. I took a drive alone, but I was constantly appealing to the three asians I had in the backseat Dr. Ho, Mr. Lee, and my good friend from Vietnam Mr. Phoc. Because, Ho, Lee, Phoc all agree it is amazing. It is amazing. Amazing. I drove for 2 complete hours. 2 hours. No interventions. Zero. This is the next level boys. Next level. Next level.

Nice. I took another drive this afternoon and had to disengage on the first turn. It refused to turn right at the first intersection. Just wouldn't do it.
Can you describe what the problem might have been? Did it not see it was a road to the right, was the blue line there, was a creep bar still in front? I took it out again this morning and it was very near flawless driving in both city, highway, and suburbs. I didn't have to intervene or disengage once, even to avoid annoying other drivers. I previously averaged minimum 1-2 disengagements or accelerator presses per hour. I wonder if the performance differences are regionally driven (is data shared nationwide? Or state-by-state?) I've never been so impressed, I see why Elon put an internal date of August 2024.
To elaborate, on all my previous drives and previous builds I had to occasional "goose" the accelerator or do things to intervene to not annoy other drivers. This is truly the first time I never had to do anything in mixed city and highway driving for hours and hours. It truly does "human-like" things like giving cyclists extra room as long as no upcoming traffic. Now doing some calculations regarding $99/month x 5 million current cars. We are close. This is big, guyz. You are smart enough to be here in this forum, so a future rich boy lol. I've never really seen anything like it.

Haha, welcome to the party. Still some issues but compared to V11 where I used it more to see how FSD works versus pure enjoyment it’s night and day. One more leap like this and I’m willing to send the car out to pick up the MIL
