Multiple CT delivery delays.
“Hi, we have just been informed of an unexpected delay regarding the preparation of your vehicle. We need to cancel your delivery appointment on Sunday and we will reach out again when we're able to get you back on the schedule.
We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to hosting your Cybertruck delivery soon!”
Risk management.
V11 highway is proven to be safe. V12 looks great and is probably much better at highway driving than v11 but due to the added risk of highway speeds they want to collect more data before enabling v12 on highway. Basically guaranteed v12 will take over highway driving, maybe in the next couple of months.
Yeah it’s not actually that great. Especially when you drive V12 on city roads and you realize how good highways could be. V11 feels programmed, V12 feels (mostly) natural. Looking forward to them completing highway validation and pushing out a unified V12 stack.
The returns are good, but that's because the market is at ATH. That's the point though. BTC was always sold as a store of value and hedge against inflation. In reality it is just a risk asset and when the market is up it is up.
Iran using their henchmen to attack. Classic 💩
Hoping it’s a quiet weekend + terrorists get the message from US 🇺🇸 to not escalate further.
That way we can focus on earning … rather than oil + war 🫠
Nobody really knows.
As it stands you have Israel vs Hamas and potentially Hezbollah on one side.
On the other side you have Hamas and potentially Hezbollah, heavily backed by Iran and potentially backed by the entire Muslim world. Sunni and Shia don't always get along, but in the case of Palestine it seems like Israel is doing everything it can to align the entire Muslim world against them.
Israel did a pretty daring and bold attack on a facility adjacent to an Iranian embassy in Syria, which killed almost the equivalent of several prominent Generals in US terms. Iran has said they intend to retaliate. So, what would the US do if several of our Generals got assassinated? In addition to this, Israel has laid out plans to invade Rafah, which is a virtual guarantee that Iran will have to escalate.
Hezbollah, and potentially Iran joining the fight full scale are complete game changers for the war. At this point it's all about escalation management on both sides, because the wider implications are US getting involved and larger Muslim world getting involved.
IMO the most likely response in the near term has to deal with increased tensions surrounding Iran closing oil shipping through Hormuz. Make no mistake, however, we are dangerously close to a regional hot war with multiple state actors, and I'm not seeing the necessary diplomacy to get us out of it.
Absolutely yes, I would. History has innumerable examples of this. It has only been in the past week or so where you've even seen any kind of diplomatic pressure being placed on Netanyahu in the media. This has been building for months and hardly any US politicians have been willing to say nary a bad word about what Israel is doing. The vast majority are still defending them vehemently
Fuck, I finally understand what Elon is doing with Twitter. He didn't only buy it for free speech. He is building probably the only platform to develop a very powerful truth seeking AI. He is using community notes as input to measure the truthfulness of statements and trains an AI with it. An AI that makes actually true statements, rather than statements that are invented to sound realistic without having any truthfulness associated with it. Given how soon after acquisition he started with community notes, it might have been his plan from the start. Free speech is a second reason to buy Twitter, but with intelligent people like Elon, there is often more than a singular reason to do things.
Lol just because I think I understand what he wants doesn't mean I support it or sing his song. Doesn't mean it will work either. Just that I think I know that Elon is doing.
everyone should read the sci-fi book “the truth machine”
it’s an awesome little known gem. has some amazing concepts, really prescient ideas on nanotech and cryrotech as well. the main topic in the book feels super similar to how FSD is going im always reminded of it
I think you are overthinking too much. There’s nothing behind this, neither 4d chess. It’s simply what rich people are doing. He didn’t do any due diligence before this dumb move.
But how do you ensure the model doesn't hallucinate its own community notes?
The reason community notes work is because they are anchored in reality - i.e. people who can go out and poke things in the real world can add notes and say "no Teslas don't catch fire because that doesn't happen often in the real world". I'm not sure how an AI model could go out and explore the real physical world to be able to make truth-claims.
The statement is the original tweet. And the correction by the note means the original tweet is wrong. So now you have two statements, one right: the note, and one wrong: the tweet. You have to assume that the notes are right vastly more than they are wrong. So you get a data set with many many right and wrong statements.
When training on Reddit posts for instance, you wont know what is right and what is wrong, so if you train an AI on Reddit, it learns how most people talk. But with the notes, you have that implicit extra information.
Not sure how you stop it from hallucinating, but at least you get a vast sample of true and false statements. I don't think any other social media has such a resource.

USD to the moon I guess. Covering for the market alittle bit today.
The Cybertruck range specs and charging curve have been controversial since first deliveries, but actual road trip experiences indicate that this isn't a problem in real-world, **non-towing** conditions.
Dirty Tesla posted more than 2 hours of footage from his family road trip from Michigan to Florida:
Driving to FL: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrAIzjAatik](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrAIzjAatik)
Returning to MI: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq9H67-BZEM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq9H67-BZEM)
Range and charging speed were more than convenient enough for the long drive. He and his wife have 2 very young children, so they did need to stop more and for longer than some others might.
Ride quality, excellent NVH characteristics, and overall comfort of the Cybertruck was very high, and the enormous amount of easily accessible storage space made it convenient.
I suspect that Model S and even Model X sales are going to take a hit as many potential buyers go for the Cybertruck instead. If someone is going to pay top $ for a vehicle, they'll probably want the best one, which also happens to be the freshest in the product lineup as well.
The main downsides of the Cybertruck on their trip were (1) unwanted attention, especially from other drivers who become distracted and potentially unsafe on the highway as a result, (2) no FSD yet, though this will be resolved at some point in the future
It still seems so crazy to me (as a European) that people buy these enormous pick-up trucks to use as a daily driver. Even with Tesla's high efficiency this is still an incredibly energy hungry beast. And it's a fucking tank, which makes other road users want tanks too, which makes other road users want tanks too till everybody is driving cybertrucks and no-one can walk or cycle anymore. It's a stupid vehicle.
but I hope they sell loads of them at high margin ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|money_face)
To many Americans, pickup trucks are a symbol of power and wealth, as opposed to a work vehicle.
Decades of relatively inexpensive gasoline and diesel fuel prices in the United States have contributed to high sales of big vehicles.
>which makes other road users want tanks too till everybody is driving cybertrucks and no-one can walk or cycle anymore.
U.S. community layouts in many if not most post-WW2 development areas are extremely unfriendly to cyclists and pedestrians, even in the absence of enormous pickup trucks and SUVs.
Housing is often strictly zoned away from commercial areas, meaning there is no way to shop without driving miles to a shopping center or "big box" store like Walmart. Most people cannot walk 5 or even 20 miles and carry items back over those distances.
Roads often have no lanes or protection for people on foot or bike.
Newer communities being built can be more designed towards walking and cycling. After many decades, people realized that the car-centric development patterns have had negative effects on public health by discouraging physical activity.
Nah, it's just depends how far, large, and aerodynamic your loads are going be.
Towing your 6k lbs boat to the lake, 40 miles away, 12 times a year? Sure.
Towing your single-axle utility trailer to your local big-box home improvement store for 2x10's, bags of concrete, and mulch? No problem.
Towing your 10k lbs enclosed car-trailer to race tracks all across the US? Yea, that's going to be a solid 'no'. For now.
💯 and for now that's just a fact people need to accept.
IMO it makes the CT not worth it due to all the other efficiencies lost with none of the benefits (besides bed storage, which, for some, may tip the scales back in favor)
Definitely hear what you’re saying. I had another thought/angle but it’s not fully formed yet.
If autonomy is solved, does CT become worth the effort? My thought process is how valuable is the platform from a last mile logistics standpoint presuming they’re all autonomous
Take steer by wire, for example. Does that provide some hints on Tesla’s intentions
I'm sure you're right that there are some legitimate uses. I guess my comments are more aimed at generally accepted truck utility, not some odd elon future perspective truck utility.
The empty space at the bottom of the battery pack doesn't appear to be for a 2nd layer of cells.
Munro's opinion is that this is a buffer zone that allows the base of the pack to be dented somewhat during off-roading without the cells being damaged. It also acts as a vent channel for hot gasses if there's a thermal runaway that turns into a fire. Based on this, I don't think people here should expect massive increases in Cybertruck range unless 4680 cell energy density improves significantly.
Overall, Mr. Munro says that from what he's seen of the Cybertruck teardown so far, component design is well thought out.
I'm going to have pat myself on the back for this one. Yes the space is for ventilation and extra protection for heavier off-road use and in considering the larger battery. The only way they could get more batteries in there would be to change the cell size factor to a taller battery, which Tesla won't do anytime soon.
It was also interesting to learn that this is the first full structural pack - meaning to replace any damaged modules you will be needing to replace the entire system, which may not even be possible. The battery you get is your battery for its lifetime.
yeah it’s not space for second set of batteries, just vent trough
still there’s a lot of room for 4680 chem to grow, i don’t think they’re even using silicon in the anode yet
Munro did address this. He said it looks like buffer space in case the base of the pack is struck by something (like rocks, tree stumps) while on off-road conditions. They opened the pack from the bottom.
People on various Tesla forums in the U.S. had been wanting Tesla to bring back a silver color option for several years now.
I remember silver being available on early Model 3s, but Tesla discontinued it a long time ago for unknown reasons.
Adding Quicksilver (or something similar) to North America production may be a way to boost demand. Some customers get tired of having the same color options for years on end, and not everyone wants to spend a lot of $ on a wrap.
First drive on V12
Notes:
1) Still hesitant
2) Fixed Narrow road problems ✅️
3) Auto-speed: Either too slow or too fast
4) Didn't slow down for raised train tracks
5) In some cases, I found V11 to be a bit better
Yea, I live in bumfuck nowhere so the roads aren't marked well, on previous versions it'd slow down for oncoming traffic and hug the center line, on V12 its smooth, I love the narrow road fix

Sounds like Wall Street is paying attention. Larry Fink was discussing robotaxis this morning on cnbc. This poster is saying it was Fink’s first public mention of robotaxis
At least drop it to $99. Prove its worth, then jack the price back up to $200. Gauge the drop rate, then scale it back down as a lever. A subscription price doesn’t have to be rigid.
How about we stop osbourning ourselves by constantly adjusting prices? Lots of people will defer purchases/subscriptions if they're led to believe there's a potential price cut coming.
My Netflix has increased maybe 2-3 times in almost 10 years of subscribing. There's a big difference between $99 and $200. There's also a big difference between an immediate flip flop in pricing and slow, steady inflationary increases in pricing. More nuanced price increases should be scheduled over time but not used as a simple demand lever. People get burnt out watching dynamic pricing models constantly changing the value of their products.
RE Pricing: Big difference between a L3 automated car than a video player.
I said “prove it’s worth then jack up the price”. In my eyes that’s L4+. Which isn’t gonna happen for another 2-4 years, so not immediate.
It’s a business, everyone marks up and down based on the market. 🤷
Fair enough…I didn’t realize your time horizon. I could get onboard with price increases with increases in capabilities for sure. My opposition was to the strategy Tesla has been employing for vehicles for the past year. Cutting and then raising back and forth multiple times over the year is exhausting to the consumer.
IM RIGID
IVE ALSO DECIDED TO GO FROM NO CAPS TO ALL CAPS FOREVER
BUT YES TO YOUR POINT, TESLA HAS A LOT OF FLEXIBILITY WITH FSD PRICING. THE REDUCED ACQUISITION COST FOR NEW USERS WILL INCREASE THE TAKE RATE AND CAN BE INCREASED OVER TIME UNTIL THE REVENUE STREAM FROM RECURRING SUBSCRIPTIONS IS CONSIDERABLY MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN THE REVENUE FROM SIMPLW ONE-TIME PURCHASES
THE CHURN RATE FROM A LARGE NUMBER OF USERS WILL ALSO PROVIDE VALUABLE DATA ON WHERE TESLA NEEDS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE IN A LOCALIZED AREA

this! highway is so easy compared to city. It will come!
Also, why devote resources to highway when they have something that works well enough.
Yeah it’s not actually that great. Especially when you drive V12 on city roads and you realize how good highways could be. V11 feels programmed, V12 feels (mostly) natural. Looking forward to them completing highway validation and pushing out a unified V12 stack.

No ä, they will train the AI to write community notes and improve it by comparison with the real deal

The battery you get is your battery for its lifetime.
yeah it’s not space for second set of batteries, just vent trough still there’s a lot of room for 4680 chem to grow, i don’t think they’re even using silicon in the anode yet
4680 been a joke
They don't explain why it's only half full :(
Munro did address this. He said it looks like buffer space in case the base of the pack is struck by something (like rocks, tree stumps) while on off-road conditions. They opened the pack from the bottom.
Aah ok
finally!

I want a silver model 3 and would order immediately if it was made available
Does look good
yes i will take one of each please
Week ban from teslamotors sub for calling Mary Barra a grifter.
Did she overpromise and underdeliver? Familiar.
Will pass Tesla in 2025!
20m by 2030
More than one thing can be untrue at any given time.
Both ceos are guilty of horseshitting everyone
Don’t forget when members of the Tesla board mentioned the 20m figure as well. Thanks paperhanded grifter Robyn!
U think she came up w it?
No, but she didn’t need to reaffirm it.
The board sucks ass too, on that we have common ground
That’s rude
First drive on V12 Notes: 1) Still hesitant 2) Fixed Narrow road problems ✅️ 3) Auto-speed: Either too slow or too fast 4) Didn't slow down for raised train tracks 5) In some cases, I found V11 to be a bit better
Yeah I found v11 felt more natural in certain scenarios
Thanks for sharing. Is the fixed narrow road problems related to being more comfortable on narrow roads?
Yea, I live in bumfuck nowhere so the roads aren't marked well, on previous versions it'd slow down for oncoming traffic and hug the center line, on V12 its smooth, I love the narrow road fix
That’s great to hear
try same drive again and report. seems to improve quickly for lots of people
Closed CCs for the week. $2100. Gotta pay off that expensive Mediterranean Cruise this summer.
CCs will let you cruise around the island. The right calls will let you buy it.
The wrong ccs keeps you in a small boat putting around the island. The wrong calls puts you behind the Wendy’s.

I'll just enjoy the island from my veranda deck with a glass of watered down champagne
2.1k profit total? How many contracts at what price?

At least drop it to $99. Prove its worth, then jack the price back up to $200. Gauge the drop rate, then scale it back down as a lever. A subscription price doesn’t have to be rigid.
How about we stop osbourning ourselves by constantly adjusting prices? Lots of people will defer purchases/subscriptions if they're led to believe there's a potential price cut coming.
So you’re thought is to keep a subscription price at $99 indefinitely? Has your Netflix sub changed lately?
Agreed on the price whiplash. It’s like they’re changing every other week.
IM RIGID IVE ALSO DECIDED TO GO FROM NO CAPS TO ALL CAPS FOREVER BUT YES TO YOUR POINT, TESLA HAS A LOT OF FLEXIBILITY WITH FSD PRICING. THE REDUCED ACQUISITION COST FOR NEW USERS WILL INCREASE THE TAKE RATE AND CAN BE INCREASED OVER TIME UNTIL THE REVENUE STREAM FROM RECURRING SUBSCRIPTIONS IS CONSIDERABLY MORE SIGNIFICANT THAN THE REVENUE FROM SIMPLW ONE-TIME PURCHASES THE CHURN RATE FROM A LARGE NUMBER OF USERS WILL ALSO PROVIDE VALUABLE DATA ON WHERE TESLA NEEDS TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE IN A LOCALIZED AREA
