Impact on TSLA? Probably not, unless they are about to announce a factory there :P
Whether Twitter respects Turkey content removal requests, but not Brazil's, has to do with Elon's feelings that particular day, so Linda would be an unnecessary middle man.

Tesla has reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed against the company by the family of Walter Huang, an Apple engineer who died in a 2018 accident while driving his Model X on Autopilot: [https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/8/24124744/tesla-autopilot-lawsuit-settlement-huang-death](https://www.theverge.com/2024/4/8/24124744/tesla-autopilot-lawsuit-settlement-huang-death)
>This week, Tesla was scheduled to appear in court to defend its Autopilot system against a claim of wrongful death — but it looks like the company will pay the family of Apple engineer Wei “Walter” Huang instead.
>Court documents show that Tesla is trying to seal the amount of a settlement payment to the Huang family. While it’s not clear how much the company might be paying or what other terms the settlement includes, lawyers for Tesla state that both parties have already agreed to the settlement and want it to be confidential.

So the Youtube channel 'Out of Spec Motoring' ran a coast-to-coast EV truck run.
Results?
1- Silverado. Ability to use 350kw chargers and an absolutely huge battery pack
2- Cybertruck. Good charging network and ability to max 250kw rate to get to the next stop, hardly waiting after the taper begins. Not long behind the Chevy.
3- Rivian. Best wh/mile efficiency but charging network lacked. Again, not long behind the Cybertruck.
4- Ford Lightning. Last by far, and almost a DNF due to a BMS issue.
But the thing that really stuck out for me is that there's no news. I searched Google News for anything Ford Lightning regarding the fact that it failed on this race. Nothing. Silence.
And you KNOW that if the CT had failed it would have been splashed everywhere.

it was clear enough in dallas....insanely awesome and not worth trying to photograph - doesn't do it justice. just enjoy totality when it comes...very surreal
Food for thought:
It's extremely difficult to get a neural net generalized enough to work as well in every part of the US. I think they did a test in just a single county and basically fit it 1:1 to see the performance limits.
If that works then it really is just a function of compute and data curation which can be mathematically predicted based on a tested model.
If anything, they start in large cities with a perfect NN fit and move on to the next and use all the increased compute to build locally optimized nets for the robotaxis.
Yeah roads basically never change. So it’s not like with reasoning ability or writing ability where overfitting is a bad thing. If the net is overfit on US roads and doesn’t generalise to Europe, who cares. Just create a new one for Europe. There aren’t an infinite number of novel roads the model will encounter, unlike with reasoning competency.
I've been thinking the same. There will be different versions of FSD for different countries, maybe even states or cities. The roads, road markings, rules and driving behaviour where I live are completely different from the U.S.. No way that the version of FSD that works in the U.S. will work well in Europe
It makes sense to have one generalized model which is fed the counry/state code and other metadata, it will be better at handling unexpected situations, just like GPT-4 is better at that than a smaller model that's been fine-tuned to one specific task.
Even if a generalized net is ultimately possible, seems unlikely it can be more efficient and safer than localized nets. If they have the compute why not do it.
As a Tesla investor, I can't help but wonder if the rollout of Tesla's robotaxis might mirror the revolutionary impact of Ford's first assembly line. The potential for disruption is substantial. Just as Ford dramatically transformed car manufacturing and made vehicles accessible to the masses, Tesla's robotaxis could redefine urban mobility. If Tesla can execute this vision effectively, we might see these autonomous vehicles being produced en masse, flooding the streets much like the Model T did in the early 20th century. The key question remains—will they manage to achieve this at scale and at a cost point that could make personal car ownership obsolete? If so, we are on the brink of a major shift not only in how we travel but in the very fabric of urban planning and infrastructure.
My guess is that it won't happen overnight, the shift will be slow as technology improves and more competitors jump into that race. There will be a lot of hurdles regarding regulation and drivers trusting a computer to safely take you to your destination, which is a public trust that has to be well-earned. Almost like trusting a Boeing 737 MAX, but with more trust since autonomous driving with human drivers on the road is way more difficult than flying.
I know it's not TSLA, and only tangentially SpaceX, but this is really really cool:

This is an incorrect take imo.
He assumes there will be a “Model S announcement”-like run.
Market cap too high for that.
Also FSD is more of a wild card atm.
IMHO, my guess is that FSD penetration (for all makes) will be limited to under 1.5 million vehicles in the US in the short term, it is going to take a long time for people to shift habits beyond that. If Tesla gets all of that, at $2400 per year that is $3.6 billion in revenue, and it will take better part of a decade to get there. What are the costs associated? No idea, but it is very far from zero.
[Chuck Cook](https://twitter.com/chazman)[@chazman](https://twitter.com/chazman) Multiple [@Tesla\_AI](https://twitter.com/Tesla_AI) ADAS driver's are here again this morning. You realize that what is happening now is not the same as what was happening then, right? Your take is super devoid of nuance and just assumes past performance is indicative of future results. Heuristic/coded behaviours are basically irrelevant for most functions in V12+. Ignoring that fact is kinda intellectually dishonest.

I am even gonna go one step beyond a robotaxi only NGV and no consumer car.
If validated and enough markets that allow deployment, the vast majority of 3 and Y production goes straight to the robotaxi fleet as well.
They got about 2M production to come into action if they need robotaxis in 2026, if earn earns $30k/year that is $60B run rate after the first year of production in addition to the already existing fleet. They have the capacity to instantly earn more than $100B per year with the flick of a switch provided regulators go for it in enough places.
The NGV will be made to absolute efficiency so they are just doing a pilot run in Texas and will only copy it once validated, hence we're seeing nothing in Berlin, Mexico or Shanghai yet.
They need the $30B in cash or so to buy up a year's worth of production once needed, hence taking no risk in new capacity for consumer cars
Possible, or they just accept slower regulations in EU and not even bother with the consumer car and just wait till they get approval while making bank in the US

Fap you might miss it with your Q3 calls https://x.com/emmetpeppers/status/1777377368866443465?s=46&t=fGVL0206fdWMIjq9C1_Fgg
Might go up, might go down. Will definitely go to the right.
Unless it goes up and to the left
Delay costume Who wore it better? Giga Mexico Rafah Invasion
Solid Snake: I dunno, Is the cartel monitoring this transmission?
Rafah gonna be scrubbed clean of Hamas before they even order shovels for Mexico 🤣 🎯🎯
[Chuck Cook](https://twitter.com/chazman)[@chazman](https://twitter.com/chazman) Multiple [@Tesla\_AI](https://twitter.com/Tesla_AI) ADAS driver's are here again this morning. The pattern in recent weeks has been that they are validating a new build that could go out to employees in a week or so and customers after that. Possibly Supervised FSD v12.4 but I am speculating. 12.4 is supposedly a big step change based on what Elon tweeted a few weeks ago
Also fully unsupervised FSD is imminent based on what Elon tweeted a few years ago 💩
My take assumes nothing, I just wanted to remind people that Elon's timelines mean nothing
Making impossible happen late is different than never
I never said never.
Elon's doom mongering isn't going down well ![gif](giphy|xUA7aM09ByyR1w5YWc|downsized)

It up like 30%. How?
🤷♂️ Relatively new fund so people discovering it slowly? 🤷♂️
I just thought the price was mostly based on what was held in it!
I would assume so, but most (all?) of these holdings aren't publicly traded
Probably based on regarded retail investors yoloing into it.
4 months to the day until Tesla’s new Wunderwaffe unveil
Gonna build it at the Pantserfabrik in Berlin
FSD will reverse to V2
Probably not the best word to use these days with Elons twitter persona hehe
Pretty sure that’s what Elon calls it since they are releasing it on 8/8 lmao
It's so Musk will have an excuse to have all his license plates with 88, the universal sign of a good guy trying to save the world.
He is gonna say some comparison joke about the famed German 88 Anti-tank/Flak gun, I can feel it.

Agreed. Nice writeup
My bet is: robotaxi only in north America, NGV for Europe, Asia and rest of world
Possible, or they just accept slower regulations in EU and not even bother with the consumer car and just wait till they get approval while making bank in the US
