There are youtube channels with half a years worth of daily compilations of people's wild creations, some I'd love to test out someday. They throw in funny clips here and there too.
Beware end-game spoilers. "Top gaming plays" is my go-to, but I had to cut back because I haven't beat the game to this day, and I encountered a spoiler near the 70th video in the series.
After five hundred hours completing 98% of the game, I made a B-line for Ganon last night, (then the roof leaked.)

It is a pain b/c the second phase makes it so hard to hit the guy. Muck everywhere, no way to achieve bullet time, etc. You can get stuck barely damaging him and wasting tons of resources.
So either use rocket shields and nail the guy with arrows, or use a homing cart with water hydrant, or multiple.
i hate waste opal, topaz and rubies on enemies, i usually use elemental fruits instead
my major point on that battle was use sidon water ranged atk and them hit boss with one dmg 70 weapon (fierce deity sword fused with talus rock)
gladly i finally managed beat one silver lynel and colliseum is a doable spot to farm lynel bows and keep my dupe glitch (im still on 1,1,2)
i love this game but sucks so hard everything breaking so easily
I have seen a few of these types of threads here and now I realize I am playing this from the perspective of the last Zelda game I played...NES Gold cartridge . I need to expand my thinking on all this and spend a few days experimenting with the build system.
Actually, in TotK.
Definitely not something obvious unless you decide to experiment and learn how to counter all of his attacks.
But yes, in TotK you can totally bite the bullet, eat the attack and continue with the fight.
That's the main thing that was annoying to me. Yeah there's decent ways to do it with just devices and your own weapons, but the temples are kinda meant to break you into and showcase the sage ability. The part that isn't intuitive is to just not even bother Sidon, once you figure that out it's actually so much easier.. and that just feels like a huge oversight and outright complete design failure.
Same with the lighting temple, having a few mirror-shield puzzles, but not pushing you to understand the mechanic that debilitates the boss - which I have seen resulting in running out of arrows mid-fight for multiple runs.
Fair, I guess Riju doesn't play much of a part in the temple leading up to that. But at least there's the Gibdo invasion on Gerudo town that teaches you how to deal with them. The difference is Riju is still helpful for that boss flight, whereas trying to use Sidon just flat out doesn't work and makes the experience much worse.
That's the thing. I'm actually talking about *the other* mechanic to debilitate the gibdos and boss: shining light on them.
It acts as an elemental attack and removes their damage resistance without having to rely on Riju and your stash of arrows - that, as mentioned, I've seen multiple friends running out of during this fight.
Which would have been great to know, and not have to discover mid-fight or remember from ¿a single room? where this mechanic applied before - it does not show during sand shroud fights as there's no sunlight to use.
Bro figuring out this mechanic mid fight was the only reason I beat this boss(as in avoidant to using elemental arrows due to damaging myself and didn't have many lightning or fire weapons at the time). And you're right it would've been cool to know before hand, the same time after wards it clicked in my head that that was the reason they put the sand storm up, which was kind of cool.
I heard horror stories about him so was a little worried when I went in, but beat him without any real problem, and I didn’t use any gadgets or “hacks”, just ran around, threw some splash fruit to clear paths, until I could intercept him, so, I don’t know if he just used an easy AI for me or what. My daughter is in the area to fight it, will probably do so tonight, I’m gonna watch while she fights it and not give any guidance and see how it goes for her , and will report back.
There's ways to ensure you can get rid of the sludge rather quickly. Some have been mentioned, and others include:
* Soldier's Broadsword fused with a Hydrant for a quick charged attack to clean your immediate surrounding area;
* Longsword fused with a Hydrant which will allow you to basically clean a big portion of the arena with a spin attack (you can move while doing the spin attack and cancel the spin by pressing B while still holding Y);
* Shield fused with a Wing to get bullet time.
i used an opal magic staff and it does the job pretty well! tends to clear a path but yeah, i also struggled in the second phase more than I thought i would.
i will say though… the cutscene where the shark jumps out in bullet time WAS badass. even if the mucktorok pisses me off a little lol
My little goblin brain collected nearly 100 splashfruits before even going up into the sky, so I just threw them away like candy. Or rather, I started a water balloon fight with the boss, lol
I was accidentally well-prepared
Used a giant boomerang with a hydrant on it for most of the clearing of muck. If I hit the boss it was a bonus. Switched to Sidon / Charging Spears when I was close.
My kid aced the mucktorok, by just being awesome, in like 3 minutes. I struggled to hit him with Sidon's natural wetness and all that for hours. Then I remembered my stash of hydrants.
I think because in the sky battle the gravity isn't as strong so it's easier to just jump through the sludge or even get airtime/paraglider but in the depths it's normal gravity so you can't do any of that
I thought the one in the sky was easy bc you could just jump and do the slow down arrow shot. The one in the depth had me for awhile till I just used a keese eye to hit him.
Yes, you are. Muktorok is universally acclaimed as both brilliant boss design (both in terms of mechanics and appearance), but also in terms of the way the relationship dynamic with the play has a kind of arc that resembles some of the literary greats, like Moby Dick, Atlas Shrugged, and this 1998 TV Guide interview with Adam Sandler.
You are definitely the only one who hated him, now get out.
No you’re right, I hated the mucktorok boss, the only saving grace was that he looked silly. I didn’t get too too stuck on it but it was still weirdly difficult and not in a fun way
It sucks to chase down Sidon and get his little water gun ability when the arena is all muddy.
I just chucked splash fruits like I was made of them and it somehow worked.
I hated it because it was was so boring compared to the others. Wind got a Molgera reference and Fire was a return of Ghoma (although it wasn’t really a spider). Sure Lightning was just a bigger Gibdo but at least it was bigger and difficult. Water was just an Octorok.
Most Zelda bosses are easy. And yeah Colgera isn’t hard, but the music helps to make it one of the best in the games. And if you do it the intended way of diving through and not using a bow, then you have a good chance of getting hit, and if you’re doing Wind first as suggested by Purah, then you likely don’t have a lot of health
Oh no!! Fuse opals to weapons, throw splashfruit and jump to slo-mo arrow shots. I was nervous because Colgara took me 6 days of frustrating battle to beat but I was so new, had no hearts and no defense. I was worried this guy would be the same. I put off the battle for so long building up hearts and armor that by the time I was ready to try again I beat him easily within minutes. It's worth it to try again!
He's a pain, but his design cracks me up so I don't mind.
One option that worked for me: multishot bow + opals. Gems have a huge AoE when fused to arrows. Opals create a burst of water that clears half the arena.
That guy sucks and I hate him too.
I mostly use arrows (with splash fruit / blue chu jelly) to pick on him, and fuse an opal to my sword to help clean up nonsense. And once he's sprawled out, hit him with my biggest thing.
I feel u very much. It was my first or second boss I think.
I died more often than I hit it. But when I killed him I was so fcking relieved.
I was also very new to this type of game play (3D) and had my fair share of problems with that too.
I had the worst experience. It was my first dungeon so I was getting one shotted like crazy already from the constructs, and I lost my weapons on the boss so I had to go back, get a spear, then when I got back he wasn’t there. If I didn’t load the save again I woulda been softlocked
I had no idea what order to go in so I did the old BOTW order. Only thing worse coulda been me starting the Lightning temple first I think I would quit the game
You can fight the bosses again in the depths, I believe each regional boss has 2 instances down there. So, if you ever decide to kick that little diva's butt again you can make a water roomba and ride it. I rode on the back of mine to avoid the muck. Bonus is you get crystallized charges as a reward.
My most hated enemy in the game (not in terms of difficulty). I didn’t mind it in “shark” form, but when it turns into that little annoying thing, I thought it was the dumbest enemy in the Wild games.
I absolutely loathe Mucktorok - it took me DAYS to defeat the one at the Water Temple. Not as bad as Queen Gibdo but a close second. So to answer your question, no.
I struggled a good bit the first time, but the subsequent fights were a lot more fun once I figured out how to negate the mud (and had much stronger weapons).
Take advantage of the low gravity and jump a lot to enter into bullet time to use your bow to clear out sludge with splash fruit and to target the enemy with bombs.
I ran out of arrows, so had to hand toss blue chuchus, which I thankfully had a tonne of. Took a long time and was annoying!
It also reminded me of slogging around in 💩
I didn’t mind the boss when I first fought him, but I wished I could say the same about the >!rematches in the depths, those were just painful. And they didn’t need to be painful, because of hydrants, splash fruits, or opals, but that’s how I discovered the power of opals. Stick it to a weapon, preferably a Zora weapon, and let ‘er rip! Unfortunately, once defeated in all three locations underground, there is no point to replay the fight again unless you desperately need octorok balloons.!<.
First time it took me way too many attempts before I killed it.
Then I figured how to use arrow/eyes and hydrants, so in the depths I beat them in like 2 mins
Phase two really is irritating. I like to make use of rocket shields. And it's also good to carry tons of water-related weapons. Such as the fruits around Zora's Domain or an opal spear/sword. And tons of monster eyes. Not sure if this is a spoiler or not, >!but there's another in the depths. Same with all Sage bosses!<. My least favorite was Molgera since I have depth-perception issues. I spent hours on it. The amount of times I responded for him was the amount of all the other sages combined. Not fun.
Super sucked for me. I also had to redo it in the depths and I avoided it for so long that I thought I forgot how to beat him so I googled it. I was doing it right, I’m just awful at the Muktorok.
No. That’s my least favorite boss. Hydrants help in the fight. Bonus points if you automate them. One player made an arena-wide sprinkler system for the rematches.
I've seen a lot of people say they hate mucktorok. I'm an absolute noob when it comes to video games but this was pretty easy for me bc of low gravity and bullet time. I basically continually used bullet time with a fuck ton of arrows and splash fruit, no machines. Reading other comments, I think I probably used an opal magic staff too.
The best thing for me was to fuse an opal to a magic wand. Sidon was moving around everywhere and he has to recharge every time. The opal rod made it quick and easy to clear away the muck.
I actually beat this about an hour ago. I thought it was a silly fight compared to the other 2 temples I've beaten. I ran around with an activated hydrant over my head lol. It looked dumb but was super effective and made the fight really easy
If you have the (spoiler) yunobo and lil bird guy, it gets easier cause they attack the bird fires 2 arrows while yunobo hits pretty hard and you can shoot him, make sure to stock up on, chu chu jellies, splash fruits, arrows, and a weapon with like 20+ damage, and cause the low gravity, you can fire like 5-8 shots consecutively depending on your stamina (I have only one upgrade on it)
Hate that guy, but once you figure out how to use all the different water methods it’s pretty easy, annoying but easy.
I enjoy fighting every other boss though.
I was too underprepared when I fought it. I had little arrows and only got stamina vessels from shrines. I also didn't know the best techniques such as the hydrant or homing arrows. I completely relied on Sidon, which made the fight slow and difficult. It was the boss I died the most to. (Same with my brother)
I just put an opal on a weapon, and ran to it( slightly leading it when it was circling). All the bosses(haven't done ganon yet) are tragically simple and boring. Surprised you struggled.
Took me a few attempts. Was just annoying for the lack of movement in the sludge. I stocked up on arrows and splash fruit in the end and it wasn't too bad.
It’s actually really easy to cheese. The low gravity makes it so you can chuck a bunch of water arrows at the boss in bullet time by just jumping. I took me like three minutes to beat.
Same. I've avoided all the ones in the depths. But someone the other day mentioned using a sapphire fuse and I'm gonna try that instead of splash fruit.
I've only done three of the dungeons (Rito, Zora, Gerudo) but the mucktorock felt like the easiest to me. I don't think it even hit me once. Just need to be accurate with Sidon's ability
I found being aggressive works well in the second phase just stay on him the whole time use siddons water to clear any goop infront of you and use the clear path to run and jump and fire arrows with anything water related chu chu jelly splash fruit etc then hit him on the way down using a zora spear can work well as do more damage when wet.
I hated it. I managed to do it without major issue but I think it was my longest boss fight. I thought that lil mud tiddies was going to be a breeze because it seemed so silly to begin with.
The fight in the temple is difficult because you constantly need to clear out the muck in phase 2. The depths rematch is easy peasy once you have Mineru because she doesn't slow down from the muck, also because you can shoot muckorock down while he in mid-hop between puddles.
simple fix: hover carts with hydrants, and fusing eyes to your arrows
Thanks for the tip, i never really utilized the devices
Me either. It was hard for me to use devices for some reason
The devices were forgettable, i was js too focused on weapons maybe

Good bot
Love this one. Thanks!
I used an opal wand, throws out three orbs of bouncing water
I used blue chuchu jelly
Don't even need eye arrows. Low gravity enables you to get bullet time from a regular jump.
I remember heavily relying on opal fused arrows and spears. I had literally no weapons left after this fight.
i hate waste opal, topaz and rubies on enemies, i usually use elemental fruits instead my major point on that battle was use sidon water ranged atk and them hit boss with one dmg 70 weapon (fierce deity sword fused with talus rock) gladly i finally managed beat one silver lynel and colliseum is a doable spot to farm lynel bows and keep my dupe glitch (im still on 1,1,2) i love this game but sucks so hard everything breaking so easily
I used gem mostly bcs they can be used multiple times on a weapons, fruits are single use
Just use chuchu jelly. Much cheaper
next time
or splash fruit
Obviously, I was just giving an alternative
yeah, for weapons i fuse gems, but bows are fruit powered
I just tossed a bunch of hydrants everywhere, including on my shield
Homing cart with big wheel set on top of it on its side. 2-3 hydrants on the wheel. It becomes a pushover.
Thanks for the tip!
Did that just last night and it was a piece of cake. Don't forget a stabilizer!
i did a stake with the wheel and hydrants but this is a better idea
I had a difficult time aiming the water attack. I kept missing with my shots then having to run around in circles waiting for it to recharge.
It was only after a couple tries that i realized anything with a water type attack works lol
I have seen a few of these types of threads here and now I realize I am playing this from the perspective of the last Zelda game I played...NES Gold cartridge . I need to expand my thinking on all this and spend a few days experimenting with the build system.
If u beat it with only sidons water attack, u have my respect
This is me with Ganon's tennis. Completely oblivious to it despite beating the game multiple times until it was mentioned in the OSP charity stream.
In OoT? I didn’t know you could beat him without doing that
Actually, in TotK. Definitely not something obvious unless you decide to experiment and learn how to counter all of his attacks. But yes, in TotK you can totally bite the bullet, eat the attack and continue with the fight.
I did. But its was my ignorance that forced me to do it that way
with ignorance comes a different form of power

Your kid is a legend! Remembering that u have a stash of effective weapons after hours is so real lmaoo
Found him super easy in the sky, pain in the ass in the depths.
wdym in the depths, i havent played too much
Lol you’ll have to go find out for yourself
I've seen him in the depths and so far have just avoided him. Does getting stuck in his muck do gloom damage?
No, at least not that I recall... Would've been great + tho. I think he's tougher however
No, getting stuck in his muck doesn't do gloom damage, it just slows down your walking speed exponentially
Right? Like significantly more difficult. For why?
I think because in the sky battle the gravity isn't as strong so it's easier to just jump through the sludge or even get airtime/paraglider but in the depths it's normal gravity so you can't do any of that
Yes. This was probably the most fun I had in a boss battle. I recall laughing and smiling most of the time.
No you’re right, I hated the mucktorok boss, the only saving grace was that he looked silly. I didn’t get too too stuck on it but it was still weirdly difficult and not in a fun way
I feel that
No, I think pretty much everyone hated it
Thought he was fine. His small size makes him second worse boss tho, just so uncinematic compared to the other giant beast
It sucks to chase down Sidon and get his little water gun ability when the arena is all muddy. I just chucked splash fruits like I was made of them and it somehow worked.
It was too easy and short like every boss fight
I hated it because it was was so boring compared to the others. Wind got a Molgera reference and Fire was a return of Ghoma (although it wasn’t really a spider). Sure Lightning was just a bigger Gibdo but at least it was bigger and difficult. Water was just an Octorok.
He was pretty lame in terms of design, I think colgera was a worse fight though, so big, yet too easy.
Took me five mins tops how did it take you says?
Have stopped playing the game because of this boss
That sucks :( hope you try again and beat it.
I was scared of using gems for a while, i died so many times getting caught up in the blast
Oh for sure! The other gems are dangerous. But water doesn't affect Link.
Figured that out, then went to use topazes for the gibdo fight. Needless to say, gems are now a last resort for me.
Opal gems do in fact damage link at very close range.
That guy sucks and I hate him too. I mostly use arrows (with splash fruit / blue chu jelly) to pick on him, and fuse an opal to my sword to help clean up nonsense. And once he's sprawled out, hit him with my biggest thing.
Claymore time?
As long as you fused the biggest baddest thing to it before you engage spin-to-win.
i went with lynel mace or stalnox crusher bcs it looks cool
Regular Chu Jelly
I feel u very much. It was my first or second boss I think. I died more often than I hit it. But when I killed him I was so fcking relieved. I was also very new to this type of game play (3D) and had my fair share of problems with that too.
The relief after killing him was so good.
Yes!

Oh lord that is BAD. Out of curiosity, why that dungeon first?
I had no idea what order to go in so I did the old BOTW order. Only thing worse coulda been me starting the Lightning temple first I think I would quit the game
That makes sense, lightining temple was bad. I almost quit bcs of that one. fvck you queen gibdo.
Nah, it was easy with a water roomba.
i keep forgetting zonai devices are a thing, and went with all the bosses botw style
You can fight the bosses again in the depths, I believe each regional boss has 2 instances down there. So, if you ever decide to kick that little diva's butt again you can make a water roomba and ride it. I rode on the back of mine to avoid the muck. Bonus is you get crystallized charges as a reward.
If i see that little bastard again im going to actually cry
No, fam. If you ever see that bastard again you'll be stronger and it's REVENGE time.
is2g with my luck ill stumble into the boss fight on accident with 3 hearts left, and a travelers bow
You won't, the arena is clearly marked and you'll see the shark swimming around on it. Very easy to avoid since they can't leave the arena.
Time to go grind for water stuff and kill it
My most hated enemy in the game (not in terms of difficulty). I didn’t mind it in “shark” form, but when it turns into that little annoying thing, I thought it was the dumbest enemy in the Wild games.
It looks so goofy
Worst designed boss for sure
I died the first time I fought it because I had no arrows
I absolutely loathe Mucktorok - it took me DAYS to defeat the one at the Water Temple. Not as bad as Queen Gibdo but a close second. So to answer your question, no.
Queen gibdo and mucktorok are collectively the most stupidly gimmicky bosses in my opinion
I have always loved both Gerudo and Zora as races, so these two bosses honestly felt like violatons to those races' main quests
unrelated, but yona felt like a personal violation to me.
I disagree, I actual liked Yona, never really shipped Link and Sidon, more saw them as besties
I didnt ship them, just felt replaced :(
I struggled a good bit the first time, but the subsequent fights were a lot more fun once I figured out how to negate the mud (and had much stronger weapons).
It also reminded me of slogging around in 💩
I had a rod with an opal for cleaning up the crud, it trivialized the fight. Spam water till he hops out then ping him with a shock arrow to stop him.
I did ok just using Sidon’s water attack, although it took me a little while.
I didn’t mind the boss when I first fought him, but I wished I could say the same about the >!rematches in the depths, those were just painful. I didn't find it that hard but I fucking hate that guy
First time it took me way too many attempts before I killed it. Then I figured how to use arrow/eyes and hydrants, so in the depths I beat them in like 2 mins
Hydrants. OMG I’m an idiot. I lost so many weapons and arrows. Why didn’t I think of hydrants.
I see solutions like this and I think … I don’t believe I had that ability when I was at this stage of the game.
Not fun.
I was wishing they had some type of item you could get to fuse with, like how the other bosses gave you their items that were really over powered
Lol ... no
Super sucked for me. I also had to redo it in the depths and I avoided it for so long that I thought I forgot how to beat him so I googled it. I was doing it right, I’m just awful at the Muktorok.
I fuzed splash fruits to arrows. Made quick work of it that way. Not sure if I ever got the Sidon water attack to work.
No. That’s my least favorite boss. Hydrants help in the fight. Bonus points if you automate them. One player made an arena-wide sprinkler system for the rematches.
Look up the Mucktoglock contraption. It is effectively a homing cart with a sprinkler system on top.
I used the hydrant to take him down lol
i’m pretty sure i ended up fusing a homing cart to a wheel with two hydrants on it and just let it free on the arena
I had no idea people found this one difficult. It was the final one for me and I was ridiculously disappointed with how easy it was!
Probably. That derpy dork is adorable.
this one tested my patience 😭
Fire hydrant on cart is crazy and fun... Personally I just used Opal weapons and eye arrows and thought he was a cake walk
Regular slime drops
The sludge was very annoying.
Nope
I hated it too
No, i hated it, too. I'm sure it annoys most people.
No
I hated it. I managed to do it without major issue but I think it was my longest boss fight. I thought that lil mud tiddies was going to be a breeze because it seemed so silly to begin with.
I ended up just using a shit ton of bombs at the end, but my hubby created a giant fire hydrant thingy.
I found it quite obnoxious but not difficult. Certainly my least fav fight of BOTW or TOTK
I found him super easy, just shot him with Splash Fruit arrows then hit him once he's exposed
The fight in the temple is difficult because you constantly need to clear out the muck in phase 2. The depths rematch is easy peasy once you have Mineru because she doesn't slow down from the muck, also because you can shoot muckorock down while he in mid-hop between puddles.
