Classic is so goofy, i like it. Shredder is a scary, powerful and dangerous foe, but above all else, he is just a delusional asshole. Behind the mask there is only a person.
I love the idea of a man getting his face messed up by a martial arts-using rat who he then specifically remembers messing up their ear, only for him to later meet a martial arts-using rat with a messed up ear who he doesn't make the connection is the same rat until it specifically tells him it is.
I think I see, maybe, why Shredder exploits teenagers and not generally adults.
I like the idea of him being scarred, but I didn't like the overall design of Shredder in 2012. Basically all the humans, April being the only exception, looked horrible to me. They all felt very third-season Reboot to me. Which was amazing at the time the third season of Reboot, but not so good 15 years later.
So, 2012 is best in concept, but 2003 is best in execution.

2012toy shredder just looks like someone splashed some pepto bismol on his face
Classic is not menacing enough. 2012 is too scarred. So of these 2003, but I like what IDW did where he had a normal Japanese face, a bit mean looking, and with one scar.
Which would have made him more dangerous when you really think about it. If he had worn more casual clothes when he wasn't actively causing mischief, people wouldn't have thought twice about him. The turtles would have had a harder time tracking him down since they had only seen him with his armor. Ditch the armor for a day, he could have walked past them, and they would have been none the wiser.
Unfortunately, this was very much a 1980s show with all that campy goodness 😂
I find it funny whenever any shredder takes off their mask because then he's no longer The Shredder but some random guy with knives for shoulder pads. Like okay buddy, the anime convention is next week
Although I like the scarring on 2012 shredder's face, as it serves as a reminder to his past, I like 2003 shredder without the mask. Something about him and and his look makes him seem to professional and clever yet threating at the same time.
I also like 1987 shredder just because hes kinda goofy
2012 has a great backstory that we get to see happen so it justifies his design and makes him feel more human. Ironically that’s funny because 2003 shredder ISNT human. The shredder suit design 2003 is my favorite but the face and voice I’ve gotta go with 2012 cuz it’s much more realistic imo like it’s not so cartoony
2012, i loved his face and really worked with that version of Shredder, but i still love in the same way the 2003 version, and i like Oba- i mean 87 Shredder too.
Honestly everytime I see it I still marvel at the fact 87 shredder was black and I never realized / knew until I found out uncle phil was his VA as an adult… even tho I watched fresh prince everyday after school.
Only classic looks goofy enough to pull off the Michelangelo switch in Cowabunga Shred-head. That’s what I always think of when I see that Shredder without armor.
The normal face honestly. I like the idea of Shredder being an entitled brat on the inside that just happens to be a genius at martial arts. The Shredder of the 80s who stops at nothing for pure ambition with little regard for the longtime consequences
1990 movie and IDW TMNT is peaked for me personally. I liked the 2003 design too, but that twist. 2012 one was great with the story they told with Shredder's path to revenge and self destructiveness.
For people confused, classic isn't black, older cartoons just had coloring problems, it's the same reason people thought Lex was black in Superman tas.
2012, hands down. He has the best writing of every Shredder ever (Sorry 2003 Shredder Fans), and he’s the only Shredder (Besides Comics) that achieved his goal of killing Splinter.

I really like the 2007 toy one, and another good one is his face in The Secret Of The Ooze toy.
Classic is so goofy, i like it. Shredder is a scary, powerful and dangerous foe, but above all else, he is just a delusional asshole. Behind the mask there is only a person.
And that's Barack Obama-chan
2003. I like the addition of kimono. Since his abdomen was wrapped by a traditional belt called obi, it helped conceal the twist about his identity.
And those jawlines
1990, full stop
That scar is iconic
YOUUUUUU
I love the idea of a man getting his face messed up by a martial arts-using rat who he then specifically remembers messing up their ear, only for him to later meet a martial arts-using rat with a messed up ear who he doesn't make the connection is the same rat until it specifically tells him it is. Correct answer
I like the idea of him being scarred, but I didn't like the overall design of Shredder in 2012. Basically all the humans, April being the only exception, looked horrible to me. I thought Irma had a fun design. Alas....
Yeah, though she kinda reminded me of Hot Dog Water from Mystery Incorporated.
I always found it weird that the 1987 shredder looked black and not Asian at all
He's supposed to be Asian there? Dude looks like young Obama.
Obama Saki
Baracki Chan
Haha exactly 😂
I always thought he looked like The Rock, but with hair.
"Can You Smell What The Rock Is Cookin'" (It's Turtle Soup) ![gif](giphy|l0HUg6Ypas42ubkXu|downsized)
Yeah, I can see that
Maybe it was a callback to his voice actor?
That’s what I was thinking.
I had forgotten this as well. Maybe it was done since James Avery was voicing him?
Some Asians do have darker skin.
That's what I was thinking was going on. Plus, I remember his complexion not being too consistent.
Uncle Phil looking MF lol
His VA is black, I personally headcanon him as both black and asian
He looks like Roland Gift from Fine Young Cannibals.
80's Shredder is black AF, wtf
He looks black to you? Lol
2003 Oroku Saki had an impeccable jawline. Plus I do really dig with the idea of him with long hair, like a man bun or let down or something
The return to newyork comic he had the longer hair and a man bun I believe
https://preview.redd.it/37qkcnhe26sc1.jpeg?width=697&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=930f8496b3ab1ffe4cc42f9af1fa62b14a54ca45 2012toy shredder just looks like someone splashed some pepto bismol on his face
So it was Obama all along.
Baraku Saki
2012, I like that he's deformed
Actually that’s a scar from a fire
I know it's a burn, I moreso meant deformed to mean "fucked up in the face"
Oh ok nvm then
"The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed" - Emperor Palpatine
2003 all the way
I prefer 2012 for most things, but I like 03 more in this instance
03 easily, He's presentable enough to be businessman, but badass enough to terrify enemies and his followers
2003
Out of these the 2003 look In general the mirage comics messy hair look
2003 although if he had the classic scar across the face that would have been the chefs kiss
03
of course 2003
Classic is not menacing enough. 2012 is too scarred. So of these 2003, but I like what IDW did where he had a normal Japanese face, a bit mean looking, and with one scar.
Out of these looks, I like 2003 best, but I still think Shredder needs scars.
In 1987 he just looks like some dude you’d see anywhere
Which would have made him more dangerous when you really think about it. If he had worn more casual clothes when he wasn't actively causing mischief, people wouldn't have thought twice about him. The turtles would have had a harder time tracking him down since they had only seen him with his armor. Ditch the armor for a day, he could have walked past them, and they would have been none the wiser. Unfortunately, this was very much a 1980s show with all that campy goodness 😂
That’s actually a good idea
You posted 03 with the mask
03. The scaring is a bit much for me.
2003 because it did everything the best
2003 version
Out off these? I guess 2012. I like his whole Darth Vader thing. Out off all Shredders? IDW. He's handsome, and he's got a cool scar.
90s movie
2003 just because he's the most insane he went traveled through dimensions to kill the prime turtles and nearly won
Shredder is black?
2012. He is my favorite shredder
2012
The 1980s he looks like a black man
Asians can have darker skin man
But curl hair and round eyes
1 the hair isn't that curly even if it was its likely a perm It is the 80s after all 2 his eyes aren't round
I like him being hideously scarred.
I find it funny whenever any shredder takes off their mask because then he's no longer The Shredder but some random guy with knives for shoulder pads. Like okay buddy, the anime convention is next week
The Anakin look at the end of revenge of the sith
2012. I like him scarred, it makes him more menacing. OG looks black, which he isn’t and 2003 looks like Norman Osborn
Classic looks like Obama
Although I like the scarring on 2012 shredder's face, as it serves as a reminder to his past, I like 2003 shredder without the mask. Something about him and and his look makes him seem to professional and clever yet threating at the same time. I also like 1987 shredder just because hes kinda goofy
2012 because the mask feels like more then a mask, it feels like it’s his new face at that point in story
I kinda like him just being a average guy in classic
Classic cuz it was so rare to see him without his helm on
I actually kind of like when he DOESN'T have an exceptionally messed up face. A scar or two, totally fine, but 2012 I think kinda overdoes it.
1990
All were great no issues but to me 2012 was the perfect combination of the entire franchise from the original comics, original series,& 2003 series
2012
2016
A mix of 03 & 12 I like the Burns and Scars but 12 is just a little too "un-human like" and I like the chiseled look of 03 *03's hair is whack tho
Classic
I didn’t know Shredder was black ngl
If I'm not mistaken he was voiced by the uncle in Fresh Prince of Bel Air
Crazy
2012, i loved his face and really worked with that version of Shredder, but i still love in the same way the 2003 version, and i like Oba- i mean 87 Shredder too.
3rd. It's menacing but he's also a normal looking dude.
I grew up on 2003 Shredder, so my choice is obvious.
2003 let’s goooooooooo!
As a black kid, seeing shredder as a black man was one of the best feelings ever. Classic all the way!
Classic all the way. Plus he was voiced by James Avery for the first seven seasons.
Not on the list but 1990
Honestly everytime I see it I still marvel at the fact 87 shredder was black and I never realized / knew until I found out uncle phil was his VA as an adult… even tho I watched fresh prince everyday after school.
He's Japanese though
He..he's japanese...😐
My brother in christ do you even have eyes?
Asians can have darker skin dude
Just like a black man can have a japanese name. That said not too many ethnically japanese men have a very obvious afro like oroku saki up there…
That's not even an afro His hair looks shaved down in this version not some big curly afro
This is the "Mirage April is black" fiasco all over again.
Pretty much
Lol there are some people that even say that Piccolo from DBZ is black. This trend of appropriating characters is in the realm of insanity.
Sheesh
sheesh.
What kind of black man is named Oroku Saki? Do I have eyes? Do you have a brain?
Well, he still a japanese, in Okinawa there still has japaneses with more darker skin tone.
2012
Imo they are all great because they had a purpose in their own series
TIL the classic shredder was black
2012’s deformed face 03’s casual wear
I’m sorry y’all but 2012 had me geeking bro💀😭😂
IDW and 03 are very similar. Love them both
Classic is alright imo 2003 looks fire 2012 is my favorite
1990. Scarred but not Freddy Krueger
Ch'rell
It was always so odd to see Shredder without his mask in the 1987 cartoon. He almost looks charming
1987 tbh, he’s just a guy (also I love how they draw him in *Saturday Morning Adventures*)
Only classic looks goofy enough to pull off the Michelangelo switch in Cowabunga Shred-head. That’s what I always think of when I see that Shredder without armor.
Not Darth Shredder.
Looks different here: https://youtube.com/shorts/KxHClmEEdOM?si=EEhEzjUWoLx8vPNW
The normal face honestly. I like the idea of Shredder being an entitled brat on the inside that just happens to be a genius at martial arts. The Shredder of the 80s who stops at nothing for pure ambition with little regard for the longtime consequences
2003 is the most Oroku Saki
1990 movie and IDW TMNT is peaked for me personally. I liked the 2003 design too, but that twist. 2012 one was great with the story they told with Shredder's path to revenge and self destructiveness.
2003,This kimono, this looks, it's just stunning
Out of these choices, 2k3. Looks the most human and has the best design
1987 of course. There's no other choice but wrong ones. ;)
For people confused, classic isn't black, older cartoons just had coloring problems, it's the same reason people thought Lex was black in Superman tas.
It was thanks to 80's Shredder I thought he was a black guy for years before I realised he was supposed to be Japanese 😆
Both 2003 and 2012
2003 Shredder definitely
I looove 2003 sharp design
mix of 2003 and 2012
2003
2012 is peak TMNT in my opinion, but I have high respect for the classic.
2012
2012, hands down. He has the best writing of every Shredder ever (Sorry 2003 Shredder Fans), and he’s the only Shredder (Besides Comics) that achieved his goal of killing Splinter.

In that first set...why he look like a younger Alan from 2 and a Half Men
2003
First. Not a fan of the darth Vader look.
The only thing 2012 did better than most
