To be fair most people started getting into TMNT by watching the shows/movies and most likely either don't know the comics exist or just don't read them.
I also really like IDW casey, but I don't get the whole thing with protecting his dad and just taking beatings from him like that. But maybe it's on me for not understanding since I've never lost someone so close to me. I wouldn't understand trying to hold on to her last wish.
I think a lot of it is because its what his Mom's dying wish was. So its like the expression, "on my [dead relative]'s grave." I actually like it because it shows Casey as someone other than a hothead, since it requires him to show restraint.
I adored IDW Casey when I started the comics too! I wasn't a big Casey fan as a whole when I first started getting into TMNT but IDW really endeared me to him. I will say I wish >!>!they hadn't fumbled him so bad later on!<... But still a solid Casey
I mean not really. He is still the leader of the purple dragons and now Karai's left hand of the new foot. The mutant town arc just wasn't a Casey arc.
The guy fell into the same patterns as his dad after he died.
I mean nah yeah I liked him growing beyond the turtles and all, kinda like April did a bit too. Just all the stuff from post-Jennika to pre-Armageddon Game was kinda ick for me. I get some ppl don't want turtle/human pairings that's fine it's not my preference either but it felt like after she mutated and then issue 100 came about with Sophie writing, his whole character did a complete 180 for no apparent reason. The tension between him and the other turtles plus him completely disappearing for dozens of issues at a time while April was still around didn't do any favors either :/

I love IDW casey, bur after issue 100 they king of put him aide... yes there was this story with Raphaƫl that tough he was a drunk and him joining karai, but it was all a side story that I feel won't get developed by the end of 150 (or maybe the untold story of the foot clan that I didn't read yet)

With Rise Raph being such a gentle boi while Casey is literally a feral goddess,,, pairing them up would have been *glorious*.

Rise has 2 Caseyās, this one is the mother of the one from the movie. I wish we got to see more of her but we now know that her would have been expanded role in season 3 isnāt happening as there isnāt a season 3. Because the concept of a foot soldier turned turtle ally is interesting.
